DBSK is too sexy for your camera-phones

Popular boy-band group DBSK’s attempt to earn a few extra bucks from their second Asia Tour “O” caused a riot instead. The concert was licensed to mobile phone content service providers which meant that fans attending the concert weren’t allow to take any pictures of the concert. To enforce this, the geniuses at SM Entertainment confiscated digital cameras and camera-phones from 8,500 teens who paid to see DBSK perform.

As a result, some 1,000 or so fans had to wait until 4 am to get their phones and cameras back because they only had three booths set up to return them. Oh, did I tell you that they just dumped all the phones in one big pile, so when the owners came back for their phones after the concert, SM geniuses had to fish through thousands of phones to find the rightful owner. Clever SM, very clever…
So, what are the fans are doing in response? They are demanding a sincere apology and a fair compensation and they better get them if SM plans to stay in business. Hopefully, SM will learn to treat fans with some respect and hire smarter people in their organization. Seriously, setting up 3 booths for 8500 people was just idiotic and confiscating cell-phones and cameras was downright unethical.

well whaddau expect from lee soo man? all he wants is money.

  4. 4 aiturnizzle February 25, 2007 at 6:13 am

Here in Australia we’re usually not allowed to bring cameras or use camera phones at concerts, so its not a big deal. What is a big deal though is the retarded organisation of the DBSK concert. I mean, even here we’ve got a ticket system thing so you’re able to claim your property without too much hassle, so if the fans decide to go ape-shit, they’ve definitely got reason to.

  5. 5 byulchonsa February 25, 2007 at 9:53 am

what sm really do that!!.. well, if cellphones or cameras are not allowed to the concert so why they not make known the fans before the event.. Lee soo man tsk tsk tsk…

  11. 11 Pualani March 19, 2007 at 11:39 pm

That is very messed up. What if someone took someone else’s phone and plus making the owners wait for a long time just to have their phones and cameras dumped in front of them.tsk, tsk, tsk, very bad SM. I wonder if DBSK knows about what happened and what do they think? For sure they are in support of the fans and wouldn’t like the idea of what their fans had to go through.

The fans were notified that they were not allowed to bring cameras or phones. They should have left them in their cars.

VERY BAD!!! Why is SM Entertainment acting so stupid? and impolite? and disrespectful? If someone took someone else’s phone, and that person didn’t no, the rightful owner would have to wait his or her whole life to find it!!!!

hey, does this happen in EVERY of their concert? i dun wanna lose my lovely phone coz of the stupid management…

  34. 35 yarrow October 5, 2007 at 10:16 am

i would have been like, ‘i have no phone.’
puhahaha. it’s not like your camera can take that good pictures anyway with the lighting and distance.

  35. 36 Shazammm October 7, 2007 at 11:19 pm

it’s only in Korea that fans think it’s ok to take vids in concerts etc. It’s part of the copyright law — it’s universal… i think Korea doesn’t have that since mp3s and vids of their artists are everywhere. Try to keep up with the rest of the world!

  36. 37 querubin December 27, 2007 at 7:02 pm

okay late reply again. i just attended the bangkok concert of dbsk and it was a different scenario. instead of banning cameras upon entry [the fans were really unruly], security was scattered in the venue and during the concert kids were seen being dragged out of the venue when they were caught taking photos/vids with cameras or videocams. phone cams were allowed though. i think yarrow had the right idea. still, tons of fancams of the concerts floating around the net. it’s not the same since its a diff country/producer. i guess thier rules on that varies [on who is sponsoring what]

seriously, somebody should think of logistics not only for the artists but also for the audience during concerts. what happened was just dumb on sm’s part.

  37. 38 kang yuri December 28, 2007 at 7:59 am

um…i believe that the situation is so stupid…i live in the states and if one day i go to watch one of dbsk’s concert, i would really want to take some pictures of them

  38. 39 IluvDBSK February 25, 2008 at 5:05 am

Are you kidding me?????? If I was there I would have shouted at the SM people until I lost my voice!!!!

  39. 40 irees March 26, 2008 at 10:31 am

WHAT?! how lame. i would’ve attacked someone. preferrably the people in charge of the booths for lack of organization.

  40. 41 Vinks March 27, 2008 at 2:26 pm

    SM is too much..=(

  41. 42 Sunsetseve April 4, 2008 at 3:42 pm

    What I don’t understand…
Is why SM still does not understand that if their singers didn’t have such a large fanbase, they would be nothing.
And they would be VERY, VERY poor right now.
Also, why would you take Asian people’s phones?
In my experience, whenever there is a concert in any Asian country…
You ALWAYS use your phone to take a bajillion mamillion pictures of the band.
It’s like a mandatory thing with fans.

    I just don’t know.
SM is very lacking in how they treat their buyers.

    -Noodle-

  42. 43 Tavi April 11, 2008 at 11:51 am

    lol!!!!!!!!!!!!

    but yet…sm is screwed >.<

  43. 44 ShadowLady86 July 23, 2008 at 9:22 pm

Honestly, i’m not mad at SM one bit. I think that was the only way to make sure fans wouldn’t take pictures of DBSK. Over here in the US, during concerts, they say don’t take pics or videos, but people do it anyways with their camera phones. So, SM was smart for taking their phones like that. Now, as for putting them all in only 3 bins……that wasn’t smart at all. In fact, I woulda been mad a hell if someone stole my phone saying it was theirs.

  44. 45 EKA October 29, 2008 at 12:36 pm

    LOL

they could have just set up more booths.. lol… i mean can’t they just set more booths up…

and im not mad at sm.. just a bit disappointed.

but anyways, it was the fans’ fault for breaking the rules lol.
