Get ready to melt girls. Se7en’s latest line to Yang Sooni (his love in Goong S) was “I want you to be somewhere where I can see you all the time” (“내가 볼 수 있는 곳에 항상 네가 있었으면 좋겠어.”) Okay, it might not have been romantic as I anticipated it to be, but trust me when I say that it sounded good in Korean. Too bad that Goong S is about to end with the lowest ratings in history. Poor Se7en. It looks like 2007 will continue to be a tough year for him. He is planning to release his album in the US later this year and although he has a strong fan base, it’s going to be challenging to say the least.

Okay I have two things to say about this.
1.Because you can sing that does not mean you can act. I cannot stress this point enough. I just don’t like the lack of respect people have for the arts these days. I mean I am a Filmmaker and it even pisses me off when I see people like 50cent and Kanye West directing videos. These already established singers are pushing out the people that have worked really hard to get where they want.
Now I am not saying that a singer cannot act as long as they are truly serious about the craft and pick roles that suit them and actually make good movies. For example Rain or Will Smith. There are not many that can achieve this. And whats wrong with just singing or acting. I understand that people have the right to express themselves but you have to understand people go to school for this. They study and work long and hard and if you’re not going to give it that much then you were mistaken about what it takes to begin with.
2. I love Se7en. I really do and I am a huge Se7en fan. But I am not infatuated with him enough to look over something like Goong and give him a pass. Hey if its bad its bad. I cannot put a veil over my eyes and pretend that what he does is flawless. And so the message of this long ass message is choose projects wisely. Goong might have been just a tad bit too big for him seeing as the first one was so loved.
As for his American Debut!!! I’ll Holla.
Oh noes. I watched the first two episodes of Goong S because i was curious about his acting abilities and wow… i was greatly disappointed.
If it hadn’t been for 1TYM’s BK acting like a complete spaz, the who episodes i downloaded would have have been a COMPLETE waste of my time.
I’m a huge SE7EN fan, i love his music and i think he’s extremely talented, but just not that good of an actor.
I hope his American debut does well, because i would hate to be on his side of the coin trying to make good of a failed acting debut AND a failed overseas debut.
But seriously though, can i get a YESPRZTHNXU for the haircut? SO OVERDUE.
When I read news about Se7en debut in America, it only target the Asian-communities in America, correct?
As harsh as it may sound, I do not think Se7en will appeal to American girls like Justin or Usher. I don’t remember hearing anything about Asian artist being popular in recent years. Especially his genre of music is nothing new, R&B, and his English is not 100% fluent in pronunciation – I would laugh when he’s rapping and trying to be “hardcore”.
I’ll wait and see his MV on MTV, hopefully it’s nothing I’ll grin when I’m watching it. I saw one of his MVs where he’s “pimping”, with the white suit and hat… I hope & pray that the MV for his American debut will not have him wearing any big chains, and doing all the hands motion like JayZ, P Diddy, because it just doesn’t look right on him…
ROFL yeah im scared there gonna turn him all “pimpin’ gangsta” or somthing o.o..im the Girls MV when he was in the club with all the girls around him i was like…..plz no…c’mon se7en…LOL
hahahaha i agree Anne!
I know, my sister already started educating ppl about him but sad enough American girls think he is too girly!!! They said he looks like a 15 year old
T_________T
but hmmmmm unless he doesn’t come out with something original and obtain a 100% fluency in English it’s hard to anticipate a success in US market! I do too wish it was diff cuz I defiantly wanna see his success! Singing R&B in American fashion won’t get him anywhere cuz we already have tons here!
I think that many are underestimating his talent and skill. YG has a artist right now that is making a lot of moves in the American market already which is Skull and you can go to his myspace which is myspace.com/skullriddim. If Se7en likes hip-hop and r&b he should be able to come here and do that. And there are many non-Asians in America right now ready to support him. Have you seen the MTV footage of him at TRL?? Se7en is a very good looking person but in the end he will have to dig deep enough and bring forth some amazing music this I do agree with. I do think its to soon for him to be debuting but its what he wants to do. Contrary to popular belief, in the R&B community when someone comes along and can sing really really well they get noticed. Regardless of what they look like. Real R&B music is about your voice and soulful sound, not about being commercial. There are many R&B artists now that do not get the attention they deserve because in the industry money is first, talent second. And who knows maybe he wont be a pop sensation but as long as he gets that fan base moving then you will see surprising results. I am just against this negative attitude people have towards Asian artists wanting to hit it big in America…nothing stays the same forever.
I love Goong S, and I’m not Korean or even Asian. I think foreign fans appreciate Goong S and Se7en’s acting more. Granted, he is not the best actor but he is giving his best. I can discern that from the show.
shyaah! stella
i really enjoyed it..tho it was quite lame at parts it as still cute ^.^
and im also not asain
Stella,
and I should say I created the appreciation for the GOONG S too~ after watching up till episode 6! I think his acting is getting a lot better! And he improved in such short period! It’s just that the first 2 episode was a total disaster that disappointed people so much including myself!
Welcome to my world! I’m also neither of the above!
ShenYue, nice to know I’m not the only ‘outsider’. Hope Se7en’s. acting improves with every episode. I guess I am ever the optimistic girl.
As with other users above, I agree that Se7en is not getting enough credit. I can’t speak for his acting, since I don’t watch any korean dramas, but as a singer Se7en is amazing. He may not have the strongest voice, but it is definitely unique, not to mention the fact that he never lipsyncs in lives, and always has stellar dance moves – what the American public loves. He’s cute, silly, flashy, and sexy, and I think he is the best candidate to try and break into the U.S. YG has colaborated with numerous artists in the U.S., so he is not a complete unknown in the industry. Plus, he will already have fans (like me) here to support him 100% Even if his english isn’t top-notch.
Besides, what does a little accent here or there matter? You’re going to be too busy grooving to his sick beats to mind!
I think you guys Are right!! There are many people here in America That is Waiting For a chance to meet Se7en and We will Support him in any way We Can… It is a shame that there are not that many korean artists that are willing to accept this challege… I think that anyone can do it if they try… Also, I have been Watching GoonG S and I think that it is Very good… I agree with you guys that he is more appreciated by foreign Fans because so far the people that are critizing him has a better understanding of the korean language whereas others are not aware of those flaws… Either way, I Will Be waiting for his appearance in the U.S. and hope that he is going to have a concert in Sacramento, California… =)

wow…i agree with all of you…i will try to tell se7en in his website that study hard on english…wait…i heard that he will promote in august and release his single in june…so…i heard that he needed to release and promote his japanese single too…thats why…argg…if he did not have japanese activies…he could have study more english for few months…XD
HAHAHA ok i didnt read EVERYTHING on this post but all i wanna say is you would be surprised on how many american girls here ALREADY are fans.. even with out them being here, without them performing where we live~ I’m a fan, im white and Ive NEVER seen any of them live. but i still love the music, and i love the culture. I remember seeing the vdos for the Bi in NY concert as well and i remember the black girls i saw freaking out.. there are lots of us here~ were just hiding ^^ well.. i know some who are closet fans.. but thats because theyre the type that actually cares what people think;; @_@ but n e ways i love korean music and korea so *shrug* we’ll see ^^
so what if the ratings are low? Its still Seven:)
i’ll just watch it though there are lots of rumors that goong is not worth watching at all..
i do still love se7en…and the girl in the pictures..i do hope that she would be the one whom se7en will end up to..XP
i think se7en should start with movie.. not a leading actor but just aleast a supporting actor.. that way you can gain more experience. you can learn from your seniors or the leading guy.
i think the drama Goong S was a bit hard for him,,everyone know his new in acting, i think it was a bit shocking for him.
and i also think why the Goong S recieve a lowest ratings is because of the first goong, everyone loves the first goong, when they saw the second goong they automatically compared it and they think why the hell is the story and lead actor and actress different from the first one.. i also think that way when i saw Goong S. but i realize that’s how it should be.
I’m not Korean, but I am an Asian American so I can understand that even though his acting skills weren’t the best he tried his best. Coming from my point of view my friends and I think that Se7en is someone that can do really great in the U.S. We don’t mind if he can’t act as long as he tries his best. Plus he’s going to debut in a singing career in the U.S. not acting, so it doesn’t matter. I think that Se7en is very brave to debut in the U.S. because not many Korean stars have tried before. I think that he’ll be a success. Even if he isn’t, my friends and I support him 110%. WE JUST LOVE HIM!!!
I suppose this means rain is one up agst se7en.
JYP made a wise decision by encouraging rain to take up the role in Full House. He didnt do great there because Look where that took him?
But his next project (A LOve to kill) won over even non fans
Rain won over even non-fans with his acting in A love to Kill. as a massive rain fan, I loved his acting to bits in that production and I don’t know if i came across as biased here but i thought he acted better than some veteran actors in some of the very emotionally charged scenes. For that reason, I rank ALTK as one of the best K dramas i’ve seen.
He was average in Cyborg though some may beg to differ.
I watched Goong S and thought it was quite good, though some ppl might beg to differ and say it bored them to death. Se7en’s acting was a little stiff
There’s little that separates rain and se7en on stage (Rain’s world tour was a tad bit over the top) but I’d say Rain is an overall better actor than se7en.
why did i go on so long abt when this is a se7en post?
oops i didnt complete my sentence
” he didnt do great in FULL house cos the range required was that wide. all he had to do was act like a twatty schmuck and piss song hye-gyo’s character off”
But look where that took him?? Asia wide adoration and recognition. Almost every girl wanted a BF like lee young-jae and it spawned the bi-hyo phenomenon. Ppl want rain and kyo to hook up for real because the chemistry was so good .
To date, I think FH ranks as many ppl’s all time fave drama and i think rain plays a significant role in that.
But his next project (A LOve to kill) won over even non fans with his acting chops.

agree entirely with “Se7enFan”
1.Because you can sing that does not mean you can act.

sooo true
aiturnizzle and Anne and ShenYue (sounds rely chinesey…may b 2 much?) are all stupid but i suppose that aiturnizzle and Anne aren’t as bad as ShenPuke. ShenPuke is g@y. the pukes just jealous cuz it cant sing or act like se7en. what a losr.
