why on earth was she wearing a wig like that? out of context like this it’s hard to say, but this is bringing back some VERY nasty memories of other Korean acts (Bubble Sisters, anyone?) who flirted with some real racist idiocy as supposed “entertainment”

the first thing that popped in my mind when I saw this pic was that of an ajummah with a classic bad perm.

can’t believe someone compared this to the bubble sisters act.

admittedly the bubble sisters were a more extreme example, but this certainly does harken back to those dark days. and I don’t see how the adoptation of a major aspect of what made the bubble sisters so offensive makes it “nothing like” The Bubble Sisters were also “trying out” a “style” – and the major problem was not with that, it was with not being sensitive or reflective of the meaning of that style. I’m not saying she is racist, or that she’s trying to be offensive, but especially after all this she should be aware of that it’s treading a thin line.
