Se7en’s US debut song leaked on youtube

0406-se7en.jpg

Poor Se7en. Like we said earlier, 2007 is not his lucky year. On top of his embarrassing mediocre acting debut, his US debut song was leaked on youtube and myspace a couple of weeks ago. This is old news to all of us since the link to his debut song “This is my year” featuring Fabolous was on our about page provided by one of our readers about two weeks ago. Btw, if you don’t regularly check out about page, this is the perfect time to start.

Back to Se7en. YG & Se7en are getting all worked up about this situation, but I beg to differ. I think this is the perfect opportunity for Se7en to create some buzz and interest among potential fans before his US debut. They should’ve just played it cool and let people get a taste of Se7en to acquire more fans and to receive some honest feedbacks.

I wasn’t too thrilled about his song and I didn’t listen to it more than twice. Perhaps it might be different when I see him on stage, but if he wants to break into the US market, he needs to work much harder than that. Also, I’m worried about his English. I don’t expect him to speak it perfectly, but how is he going to promote and connect with his fans if he can’t communicate properly? Ah…I can see this go all wrong, just like his acting debut, but I wish Se7en the best.

The original youtube & myspace links were eliminated but if you want to sample his new song, here’s the fanmade remix.

Yea i saw that the took it off youtube…but I’m not really feeling the song, I thought it would be better. Se7en’s vocals don’t stand out here.

  2. 2 Di April 6, 2007 at 5:29 pm

*crosses fingers and wishes se7en good luck* Let’s hope he does better then Utada Hikaru or Hamasaki Ayumi…

  3. 3 parkerlewis April 6, 2007 at 6:06 pm

    the song sucks. no offense.

  4. 4 jo April 6, 2007 at 6:08 pm

his english is greattttt! but plze oppa, create a new song!!!!!! what happened to the HOTT, upbeat, energetic, addicting songs???? plze make ‘em like that!!!

  5. 5 jl April 7, 2007 at 1:54 am

i think his english is pretty good…… better than rain

  6. 6 tahseen April 7, 2007 at 9:17 am

The song is… pretty sucky. It’d be okay as a song that’s just on an album, but NOT released as a single. Especially not someone’s FIRST single. Se7en needs to ‘wow’ his audience… and it sounds like he isn’t even trying in “this is my year”. The song is simple, there’s nothing interesting about it… people are just going to write him off. Hopefully he and his manager will surf the net and see how bad everyone thinks the song is and not release it as his first. They need to make another song. Even if they have to push back the debut date… it’s better to release a quality song 1 year later than a sucky one in a few months or whatever.

  7. 7 shelshel April 7, 2007 at 11:04 am

oh dear whats happened to se7en’s adictive songs? the beat is very blurhhhh…… he sings really softly in this….
its has a very simple beat to it which isnt what ppl want if he wants ppl to remeber him then the song has to be addictive!!!

  8. 8 Little Kitty April 7, 2007 at 5:05 pm

uhm…….no offesen but this song sucks…i think BI/Rain’s song is better….i not trying to take side and stuff but Gosh Se7en need help

  9. 9 Vivi April 7, 2007 at 7:44 pm

Se7en oppa usually has songs that stands out, but this definetely isn’t enough to debut in the US. Not only because of the language barrier or the song itself, but also because… well, it’ll be hard. >_>

  10. 10 d32z April 7, 2007 at 10:18 pm

how the hell could his englsih be better than rains? compare this song to “man up” with omarion the beat is way better and i can believe ricj harrison or mark schimmel said that korean music is still lacking! they go and produce some trash like this i heard that there is another song i hope that its better than this, sorry to be so blunt im just saying what everyone else is thinking that has heard this song, everyone knows his korean stuff is way better

  11. 11 d32z April 7, 2007 at 10:41 pm

yeah dude this song sucks, se7en if you’re reading you have it all the stage charisma the looks, and no doubt the voice.Everyone that has seen you perform konws your the real deal, you can sing live as well as dancing your ass off.If you had a hotter song, if you performed in america in front artists like omarion that only lip synchs and if he doesnt he cant even keep his breath up you will definetly get heaps of respect over there, you just need a better song!!!

  12. 12 princess_luv April 7, 2007 at 11:56 pm

the song is not that good.. but hope he does better then Utada Hikaru and Hamasaki Ayumi……

  13. 13 cstix April 8, 2007 at 6:34 am

parkerlewis is nicer than I am. It sucks, and I do mean offense. Because then maybe they’ll make a better one.

I heard YG is going nuts about this leak. Any info on that one, by any chance?

  14. 14 md April 8, 2007 at 2:16 pm

    1) His acting was NOT embarrasing -.- stop blaming it on him as if Goong S low ratings were all his fault
    2) The rating were just some daft numbers, I know lot’s people who have been a fan of Se7en through Goong S and the really enjoyed the series
    3) I thought his english was great and tons more understandable than Rain’s Man Up -.-

  15. 15 nz fan April 9, 2007 at 5:36 am

i became a fan of se7ens last year while i was living in korea, even though i can’t understand korean i loved the songs, this new english song is a real disapointment.

  16. 16 d32z April 9, 2007 at 9:31 am

    man up was better

  17. 17 lennie April 9, 2007 at 8:06 pm

i don’t know, i don’t really like man up, but i don’t like this song either. well… hope they have better follow-up songs. and md: “1) His acting was NOT embarrasing -.- stop blaming it on him as if Goong S low ratings were all his fault” of course the low ratings weren’t se7en’s fault… it was a mixture of a not-so-great plot and being the sequel of the original goong. the first goong had much better actors, better plot, and… more appeal? i think it was just better overall. so yeah, se7en’s not to blame for the low ratings, but his lukewarm acting coupled with the female lead (heo yijae?)’s not-so-great acting certainly didn’t help things much.

  18. 18 CAT. April 9, 2007 at 9:10 pm

ahh,, i havent heard the song,,
but everywhere i go, there are comments about how bad it is.

& going nuts over the leak isnt gonna warm people up to korean newcomers into the US music industry ==”

i reckon if his production people were REALLY lazy, they could just make him do an english version of one of his korean songs & it would be HEAPS better…

  19. 19 sakura April 9, 2007 at 11:25 pm

    interesting point. I agree.

  20. 20 Cindy April 10, 2007 at 12:07 am

lennie, I disagree. I enjoyed HYJ presence and she had good chemistry with Se7en. So don’t blame it on HYJ because that’s not any better blaming it on Se7en.

  21. 21 d32z April 10, 2007 at 7:00 am

i still think american producers are willing to try really hard to get se7en into the us market, and i think thats where they key to the whole thing lies, in the producer, right i didnt like man up either, but it is a much better production than this is my year, i might just getting a preconceived idea because i like rain better, goong s wasn’t bad and it just goes to show, if se7en cant act he really isnt putting on a fake image all the time, im not sure if that made sense at all…. the thing is JYP is a producer in the US market that WANTS to market asians in the american music industry therefore rain already has a huge advantage, im just not sure if american producers want to promote an asian yet…. I love se7en though he does have all the skills it requires, just hope he does well as well!!! best of luck

  22. 22 d32z April 10, 2007 at 7:01 am

oops made a boo boo it should be i still DONT think american producers want to promote an asian artist

    peace out

  23. 23 Reddi April 12, 2007 at 12:05 pm

It actually doesn’t sound too much different from his Korean stuff. The lyrics are just as bad as they are in Korean except you can understand it this time. - still using the gimmicky se7en!!! or 24/7 lines. The tune sounds a bit like fabolous’ old stuff in 98. Se7en is a good singer but his voice is a bit gay so i think he should stick to balads or slow soft beats like lalala and be a bit more fresh. His vocals sound particularly dull in this track.

On another note I don’t think the producers want him to fail because it hurts their own reputation and they lose money from it.

From the looks of it Rain seems more likely at this point to make a bigger impact but we will soon see.

  24. 24 Lily Jung April 12, 2007 at 11:19 pm

Actually, I think the song is good, but whats posted is the Kenji version.
When & if SE7EN releases the version with American Hiphop-rapper Fabulous, you’ll see its a lot better.
I Have the song, but I’m deleting it, I didn’t know it was leaked.

well..u guys know what…rain sucks..he can’t even speak English as good as se7en…your just jealous…se7en has the whole package…watch when he release his cd..Rain is going to look like shit….

  32. 32 whip May 7, 2007 at 9:23 pm

rain is shit? woman he wouldnt get so damn famous if he was a mediocre talent, se7en can sing, hes a great vocalist no doubt, but rain possesses stage charisma that only se7en and many other performers only dream about, rain is a better dancer, hes better looking, (only claimed the best looking asian by Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani, and Louis Vuitton) Rain is the better actor, and the best thing is that rain’s entertainment company, though has plans in the US already is still very skeptical of his success in the states, whereas YG is just too Naive. And Rain breaks way more stereotypes than se7en does, se7en is still relatively small in comparison to americans. And rains english does not suck, rain speaks staccato english, when i went to his concert when it was the VIP time, rain came down and chatted with us in the standing area, and his grammar is near perfect and he has no trouble in understanding what we said. hes just not interview standard yet. OH and rain is about uhmmm 50 times more original than se7en. And Rain has a much more pwerful voice than se7en’s if you compare them singing Rkellys i believe i can fly, rain has got a more pwerful and smooth voice, the only reason why rain’s vocals suffer wshen dancing is because his dances are about 5 times more energetic when dancing, compare im coming dance to passion or nan arayo, or even its raining to any of se7ens songs, but when rain just stands there and sings I do,or last handshake, he has a stunning voice, as does se7en, i will say se7en is good, and vocally probably better than rain, its the whole package that se7en does not have when Rain does.

  33. 33 chelcie May 10, 2007 at 8:23 pm

Hmm I just downloaded the Amerie song Take Control, I like it *shrug*. To me.. i think both Bi and Se7en can do SO good here. BUT like everyone, they cant start out doing ballads or whatever, they need up beat HOLY SHIT here I am heres what I can do shit you know? Utadas problem.. i dunno really.. when i heard the cd.. i was liek man this shit sucks? who the hell made this for her?? they need better people working for them, they need the best! unlike the ppl utada worked with *choke* but no .. im already a Bi and Se7en fan, so ^^ heh

  34. 34 Cindy May 16, 2007 at 4:38 pm

    whip: Lol. Rain is original?

He’s just a carbon copy like everyone else in Korean entertainment.

  35. 35 whip May 18, 2007 at 11:53 am

    who does he copy?

  36. 36 Meruko June 6, 2007 at 10:37 pm

Honestly, I’m also doubtful about his US debut, even though I’m a fan of his music. His japanese releases never have been as strong as his Korean ones. Songs like “Hikari” and “Aitai” are both poppy ballads, I have a hunch that Se7en has been “tailored” to suit the poppy japanese culture. It’s a shame that producers and manager aren’t letting him be “Se7en” in his musics overseas as well.

Since Se7en is supposedly rival to Rain, I guess it’s understandable fans tend to compare the two. I’m still a fan of Se7en because he has a smoother vocal, he maintains that vocal quality in live concerts, and he’s open and playful on camera. They both have good qualities, they both work very hard to be where they are, and they both develop their own original “vibe”. So it’s not a matter of who’s better, more like… who’s better for your personal taste.

  37. 37 yeh June 21, 2007 at 8:55 am

okok everyone stop making excuses for your favourite artist, we all know se7en is an absolutely crap actor, and hes not nearly as charismatic as the original goong people,

  38. 38 Anonymous July 21, 2007 at 7:45 am

I only wish him the best! And to hear this, is quite dissapointing (btw, Lee Minwoo’s 3rd album was leaked onto the net, days before its debut as well. Darn stupid ppl), but then again, kind of a good thing so then Se7en and YG can get comments on it already, and work on something else!
I really, really, wish, that he does well!!! (my instincts will tell me otherwise but i’m not really feeling it! se7en + US debut = not so good! eek!)

  39. 39 Rain Argifel July 28, 2007 at 10:49 pm

no matter how many leaked happened on youtube…
i really like to thank you for posting such a kind of photo!!!
    ahhhhh so hot…….

  40. 40 diem August 14, 2007 at 5:38 am

i think pplz would like rain better becuz he was already in the most beautiful people magazine thingy!!!

  41. 41 diem August 14, 2007 at 5:39 am

but i cant wait for both of they’re english albums to come out!!! but i like rain better

  42. 42 geekgirl August 14, 2007 at 6:55 am

Rain can speak English??? I don’t think so. He has scripted lines in English that he uses on stage, and that laughable line of “You are all my babies” (still can’t get over THAT one!) in addressing the largely-female audience (who would no doubt want to be his BABY) in the Collisseum at Caesar’s in Las Vegas, is just too … well … laughable!

  43. 43 um.. August 22, 2007 at 12:37 am

*OUch* can this song be any worse? yes, it just did.

  44. 44 diem September 12, 2007 at 9:53 am

when are thery’re albums coming out actually?

  45. 45 Ambii October 1, 2007 at 9:51 am

SE7EN can speak very well in english he well do fine I mean I listen to that song all the time!! I was gunna share it with the class but then the teacher said we didnt have to share a song no more^^ waaaa!

  46. 46 siti October 20, 2007 at 11:09 pm

    owwwwww…… you cute….
    i like you
    i love you
    go to in indonesia conser…..

  47. 47 Karen November 18, 2007 at 2:56 am

I agree with the previous comments on how Se7en needs a catchier song to debut in the US. When I hear “This is my year” I didn’t like it at all, but I didn’t know that it was to be his single! That’s shocking news to me!

I first became Se7en’s fan listening to Passion (tipsy remix) and I loved how upbeat and catchy it was. It would be stuck in my head all the time! RUN is also a really catchy song for me. So I think that if Se7en is going to stand out and make a good impression he needs a better song, and maybe to hone his english skills.

OH, AND TO ALL OF YOU BASHING SE7EN: Shut up! Se7en works hard! Just because he’s not “better looking” than Rain is entirely YOUR opinion! I think Se7en is cuter by a long shot! I love Se7en, and I would prefer him over Rain anyday! :]

  48. 48 KsLyDe November 24, 2007 at 10:40 pm

Good thing this song got leaked on the internet because it wouldn’t have done that well for a debut song. I mean its a good song with a nice beat and everything but its probably not the best song Se7en can come out with. He needs a song you can really dance to(like the songs in his korean albums). One that people in da clubs wanna dance to. Once its big in the clubs it’ll be big on the radio. Just like chicken noodle soup. But that was like a 1 hit wonder. Hopefully Se7en will come out with something way better than this.
    !!!!!!!Se7eN HwAiTiNg!!!!!!!

  49. 49 shinbi23 November 29, 2007 at 6:18 am

when is se7en’s album comming out.. cant wait to have it.. btw to all of u saying that this is my year is the worst song ever.. well ur wrong because it was a decent song..

  50. 50 meeing66 March 20, 2008 at 6:03 pm

Don’t you think you are being a bit mean to him…He was trying his best in Goong S. I don’t think you should be pounding him down with insults when he IS trying his best. Also, you shouldn’t be insulting his debut song and saying “he needs to work much harder than that”. I don’t think that is necessary when he is working his ass off to debut in America. Just try to see it from his point of view. And finally, don’t make fun of his English…he is trying and he doesn’t need to know about your worries for his speaking. He’ll learn quick, just like when he started learning Japanese.

  51. 51 Haeng ja June 3, 2008 at 9:36 am

I am a big fan of Se7en. I support him all the way however I am a little bit concern that the “se7en” style has changed. I am all for the creation of a Asian influence music in the United States, but why does he sound not like the usual se7en anymore? Instead he sounds More like rappers and R&B singers here in America now… I mean over in Asia we don’t rewrite the american songs playing, we just enjoy it.

What happen to the Asian influence he was going to bring?

  52. 52 Iseaul yoo June 3, 2008 at 9:42 am

I hope he just doesn’t push aside his korean style while debuting in U.S. He did fine in Japan, he had the Kpop ideals in the japanese albums and songs. with this new album in u.s it doesn’t seem like its him at all, or representing the Kpop industry.

    but anyways AJAJA FIGHTING Oppa.
I’m still all the way with him.
