Is it just me or does Kang Hae Jung’s new and improved look so unnatural? After her “braces,” Kang Hae Jung completely lost her charm, making her no better than regular folks on the streets of Seoul. Also, when did braces completely restructure your face? I’ve seen many friends endure the pain of braces but the end result was never this dramatic – you just get perfectly lined teeth, not a completely new face! I know that this is old news, but I just needed to vent since I had to stare at her frightening face to write this post.
Okay, back to the drama. Simply put Flowers for Life is Koreanized version of HBO’s hit series Six Feet Under. All characters are involved in the death business – Na Hana’s (Kang Hye Jung) dad runs a funeral home and Yoon Ho Sang (Cha Tae Hyun) inherits his dad’s father in law’s (?) funeral home and the rest of the drama is about these two characters falling in love and learning about the true meaning of love and death. Eh..I’m not sure if this is my kind of drama but it will air on May 14th if any of you are interested.
Supporting roles:
Gong Hyun Ju as Oh Nam Kyung – Yoon Ho Sang’s first love
Kim Ji Hoon as Yoon Ho Sang’s assistant

her face was fine! … she was attractive before and had such a unique look … someone needs to ask for their money and face back.
Now when she smiles without showing her teeth, at some angels, she looks like a grandma ~~ !! I too didn’t know that braces would make such dramatic change to one’s face…
This is the actress that got plastic surgery and turned into a harry potter lookalike…she really looks like a 17 year old Park Min Ji >_
what did she get done? she looks so different
i think she is really pretty.
oh please, her teeth werent that bad before. i mean, people with worse teeth (coughhongsooahcough) still go out proudly without teeth/face restructure.
she used to be cute, now she’s fugly. hooray for plastic surgery obsessed culture
I don’t see much difference with her teeth..
yeah exactly, no actually, why did she even need braces in the first place (looking at the ‘before’ pic now)
ㄱ_ㄱ
i think she looks better than before…seriously…and she looks younger too
i heard braces can help fix your jaw and chin and stuff…that’s what my dentist told me anyways
But they’re braces not miracle face surgery…I got braces too and my face is exactly the same..except my teeth are straight lol. Mostly braces just change the inside of your mouth and the shape there…not your chin.
actually its because she gained 3.5 kg thats why her face looks fuller
and my classmate’s jaw looked different after she got braces and got her teeth done
kbs world just started airing the first episode this may 30 at 3am in the philippines. i couldnt say that i love it to the death like full house and goong, but i agree that it is “artistically” pleasing. the script is very good and strong, with the play of names in relation to the theme of the story and the lines themselves. dry humor, as javabeans had said. Actors cha tae hyun and kang hye jung are very good and appropriate for the roles indeed. they were very convincing. (cha tae hyun is in his usual funny element. and kang hye jung is really good in playing offbeat roles. she brings a different level of interpretation in the characters she play, like the one in herb and love phobia. love phobia was not that great but stellar performances for both. i just love her as an actress. it’d be nice if i can see how she will fare in a no-brainer romantic comedy with a good script, just like the character han ji eun in full house and shin chae gyung in goong.) from the episode summaries, the story does seem to be heading somewhere deeper, and with much sense.
although i’ve only watched the first episode, and haven’t seen ho sang’s father appear in any of the scenes, i don’t think ho sang will inherit a funeral parlor. the story does seem to be going in a different direction. check out http://javabeans.wordpress.com/2007/05/17/flowers-for-my-life-i-came-in-search-of-flowers/ for the most detailed drama summaries.
hi popseoul!
yeah i agree with you. this drama may not be for everyone’s liking. although i’d really like to stress that the story and pacing is good and the characters are well-acted.
marie s – thanks for reminding me to change that – i checked out several episodes myself and it looks like he might inherit his father’s funeral parlor because cha’s family thinks that he’s dead…
i’ve finished watching it, and i must say its really really good, it’s not just your typical romantic comedy drama, it’s much more deeper than that…i wish it will be shown here in the philippines, i’m sure a lot of people will appreciate it…regarding kang hye-jung’s looks, actually i thought she’s a new actress, coz i’m not too familiar with names, when i reseached about this film flowers for my life, i found out that she’s in the film rules of dating, and i must say that she looked younger now.
