Singing sensation, Boa was featured on the Mnet program, “21st century artists” where she was quoted as saying that she has no immediate plans to enter school (university) since her profession places more of an emphasis on hard work rather than a degree.
She added that many people go to school in order to grow as a person and become a contributing member of society. For that, she feels that she has missed out somewhat. But really, who cares. I know that Korea places such a strong emphasis on higher education for the purpose of making more money. But this girl is already at the top of her game as the biggest Korean export. She doesn’t need a higher education to prove that she’s the best. Don’t you think?

I’m a person thats always searching, and asking questions so school for me goes hand in hand. BoA is very sucessful, a lot of reason ppl go to college is to persue their choice fields or to find what their good at. I think higher education is important because it plays a big role of how people view you. What if, one day, she is confronted with a question from people who don’t know–even her children–”what university did you attend?” It would be an awkward situation. And, no offense, but I think it sort of encourages little children not to pursue a higher education. What if little girls start say: “BoA didn’t go to a university, and she’s successful. I’m going to be like her.” x_X On the other hand, children can also be comforted that they don’t need to be smart to be successful. So it just depends on which angle you look at the situation in.
Final consensus: She doesm’t have to, but would be best if she did (if not now, in the future–when her schedule isn’t as busy).
let’s say she’s not successful in her career.. what would happen tO her? she will not be able to get a nice job to sustain her necessities right?? EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT!

The main point of going to college is to further yourself into getting a career. What’s the point in her going? She’s already more successful than 99% of the people out there. You can sugarcoat it with this life experience crap all you want, but in the end, a career is the main goal. Besides, she already gave up any semblance of a normal life when she signed on to this career.

I totally agree with Lily. Education plays a big role in your life. You may be a famous singer that most countries have known you, but knowing you graduated in degree, master or even phd, people will highly sorted you. People respects you from high to bottom. Now, for a famous singer, and having a great education, then we call them a successful PERSON. you’ll be the perfect package of the country, people will salute you from head to toe. And with the money you make as a singer, why waste everything on clothes or branded stuffs, why don’t you just study first? you’re risking you singing career life for something much much better. This is like the boys, a compulsory to go to the army. Giving out few years for the army. And if you have the chance why don;t study. You maybe gone for few years, not much people would have known you; maybe. But imagine making a comeback performance and everybody is telling that you risk your career life for school.
