Honey Lee is the winner

honey-g1.jpg

Korea may finally have a winner! The site, Global Beauties, has chosen the stunning Miss Korea, Honey Lee, as its Miss Universe! Ms. Honey Lee (94.58 points) won by a hair – 0.01 -over Miss Venezuela, Ly Jonaitis (94.57 points). And close behind was second runner-up, Miss Japan, Riyo Mori at 93.17 points.

Yah! Korea has finally gotten its act together. A few years ago, a documentary on the making of a beauty queen- namely Miss Venezuela- aired on Korean tv, revealing that almost all the hopefuls trying out for the beauty pagnant have had numerous surgical procedures to enhance their looks – and this was not just their face, but also their bodies. The documentary interviewed all the contestants and found that only 1 did not any surgical procedures. Only 1 natural beauty! The rest were all surgically enhanced. This may not seem new to some of us, but, at the time, the program definitely created a buzz among the populace here in Korea. But I think the program had a larger impact. Perhaps, it helped to inspire Korea to create a beauty contestant worthy of the Miss Universe crown. Again, I think there is nothing wrong with enhancing what you already have. Miss Honey Lee is fortunate in that she already has the gorgeous sex-pot looks and the myriad of beauty resources to make her #1. And if she is chosen as Miss Universe on May 28, then all Koreans will rejoice!

You have our vote, girl.

Miss Universe 2007 will air live on May 28 on NBC (9pm) hosted by Vanessa Minnillo and Mario Lopez

i was hoping that korea would win and that Japan will not get anything. i didnt like Japan because she and her manager were bad-mouthing other contestants before the awards night… gahhh. miss japan. stupid. but oh well.

  3. 3 pinkypoop May 29, 2007 at 2:03 pm

i haven’t watched yet the whole pageant..coz i missed the telecast this morning, but there is still telecast on 8:30..wooo00h!miss japan made it!!!she’s worth of the title and the crown..she got the looks, talents, brain.she’s my bet anyway..and also miss korea..but miss japan is prettier and i’ve read from the miss universe official website thatmiss japan started dancing since she was 4 yrs old and her mother has a dance school in tokyo..wow!!!

  5. 5 nina May 29, 2007 at 4:23 pm

i adore Honey Lee for she made it up to top 5, and even 3rd runner up.

  6. 6 nina May 29, 2007 at 4:25 pm

the Ms USA’s slip was sort of scripted.. Maybe, she just did that for the judges to be impressed to her. Dream on, loser!

  7. 7 kismetology May 29, 2007 at 4:40 pm

Miss Korea was prettier than Miss Japan, but all in all, I’m just happy that an Asian won. =D Congratulations to Miss Japan. The Japanese must be going wild right now!

sexychikita you are dumb cow. pls go back to whore island from whence you came!

  9. 9 christianpete May 29, 2007 at 7:41 pm

^ that type of rudeness is unnecessary and uncalled for, over

As for the pageant, I’m a bit dissappointed Honey didn’t win, she certianly was was a standout in a field of very beautiful and talented women. A top 3 (or was it 5?) finish is nothing to be ashame about. I also agree with some of the others here that at least the winner is another asian, instead of the usual caucasian and hispanic winners.

For next years contest I nominate lee Hyori as Korea’s representative. A true beauty with proven talent and smarts, you can’t go wrong :D

  10. 10 han May 30, 2007 at 12:41 am

what makes honey doesn’t look korean enough is her makeup
but you gotta admit she was the most beautiful asian girl up there on the stage tonight (it just aired her where i live)!!
but seriously she could’ve won it if she didn’t get that question!!!!!!!!
who the hell asks about superpowers at a beauty pageant?!!?!? i know her answer was stupid (i was like wtf when watching–couldn’t have been the interpreter’s mistake, could it?) but the question itself wasn’t the best….arghh X3 i’m so pissed cause miss japan is UGLY seriously and i know for sure she didn’t get her face done but still…she got lucky with her question…(but her dress rocks)
and miss USA!!! i can’t believe she made it to the top 5 i mean like, she FELL!! on her butt!! -___________-

  11. 11 whitechoco May 30, 2007 at 3:46 am

haha ms. korea had a very blunt answer.. isnt all typical high maintainance korean girls love money ….lol
but i am glad japan won too cos everything is NATURAL~ and she has this motivation and goals in life … and smart things to say .. rather than making herself all pretty it up…i routed for japan.. even though i am filipino canadian..

  12. 12 jane =] May 30, 2007 at 8:37 am

there was a mistranslation. the translator screwed up.

  13. 13 dfksdtyiyuouioiup May 30, 2007 at 10:26 am

    to han:

honey had the perfect question and blew it!

she could have answered to have the power to heal ppl or something like that, but no she asked for money!

    wtf

  14. 15 christianpete May 30, 2007 at 11:10 am

she didn’t blow it. The translator was the one who blew it. Honey actually said she wished for a wallet that never ran out of money so she can help others thru missionary work. The translator made it sound like her desire was for more material wealth, which was incorrect. The translators mistake could’ve cost Honey the crown.

  15. 16 han May 30, 2007 at 12:13 pm

    christianpete
i think she did blow it, as much as i hate to agree with what dfksdtyiyuouioiup said
having a wallet that never runs out of money so she could help others isn’t really a type of superpower, is it?
damn that james guy for coming up with that question! =P

    dfksdtyiyuouioiup
yeah…maybe she was too nervous to think of an answer like that in just a few secs…and i’m pretty sure she never expected a question like that -___-

    whitecoco
i know miss japan deserved to win cause i was blown away with her answer to her question too but it’s just that…i think last year’s miss japan was awesome (and gorgeous!) and she only got runner up…=/ everytime i root for someone they just never win…

  16. 17 christianpete May 30, 2007 at 9:52 pm

imagine a superhero named Walletgirl, with a powerful wallet that can fully fund research that finds a cure for AIDS, a solution for global warming, and other ills plaguing the world. All without using tax payer money!! Now thats a superpower to me ;) ….no not even Spiderman or Superman have found a solution to world hunger, that wouldn’t be a problem for our Walletgirl.

  17. 18 sexychikita May 31, 2007 at 12:45 am

it was lucky for ms korea to got into top 15,top 15, and finally into top 5!she deserved it..she’s beautiful..miss japan really desrves it and she’s my bet then before..miss brazil is so hot!!haha!!she’s got the sexyness..and the looks!!LOL!!!she has this very smart answer..that what is important is to follow what you think is right..something like that,i can’t remember what was her exact answer..i thought she could win the title..but since most latinas almost get the crown, give chance to others..specially to asians!!!because we could do much better, with pur natural beauty, talent and charisma!!!go go!!XP

  18. 19 pringles May 31, 2007 at 1:09 am

i saw on the news ms japan won. . .TT___TT

  19. 20 han May 31, 2007 at 12:16 pm

    christianpete
walletgirl? hahahah that cracks me up XD
but all she said’s making sense now…too bad you weren’t one of the judges that night…or the translator =P

    i love honey lee

  20. 21 Tracy May 31, 2007 at 2:25 pm

Now hearing the translation of what she actually said makes sense what a dumb translator, see you should never depend on anyone besides yourself..I love Honey Lee!

  21. 22 marie s May 31, 2007 at 8:15 pm

i like miss korea. i thought she’d win. she probably would, if only the question had more depth…superpower??? duuuh. it would have been more fair if all of them were asked the same question, like before. this aside, m curious as to whether honey lee is a natural beauty? and if not, it’d be nice to see her before photos.

  22. 23 marie s June 1, 2007 at 1:41 am

just curious, why are the spellings different?

i mean how do you discern between using oo or u? or using u or eong? or using y or a? or using yu or ryeo? or using k or g? or using j or z or ch? or ee or ui?

and how do you know which spellings to combine with which spellings?

for ex, joo ji hoon – ju ji hun. KIM JUNG HUN – KIM JEONG HOON. song hye kyo – song hae gyo. JUNG RYU WON – JEONG RYEO WON. jo in sung – zo in sung or cho in sung. KANG HYE JUNG – GANG HYE JEONG. lee ha nee – lee ha nui.

coz sometimes it’s hard to google search.

  23. 24 jose June 1, 2007 at 6:28 pm

    i love you Honey!!!

  26. 27 alyssa June 4, 2007 at 5:37 pm

no no no….japan is the very deserving for that crown, not korea,i watch the paegent and miss korea is not very good of her answer in the question in answer portion,,and i saw she is not sexy,….this is my opinion..

  27. 28 derek88 June 5, 2007 at 7:05 pm

    Alyssa,

I don’t think anyone will try to argue that the crown should be taken away from Miss Japan and given to Miss Korea. I think she would make a great Miss Universe. BUT when you said “miss korea is not very good of her answer in the question in answer portion,,and i saw she is not sexy” i think you are TOTALLY MISTAKEN. First of all, the translator MADE A MISTAKE in translating Honey’s answer!!!! Just look around on this website to learn about the huge error that he made. Second, how can you say Honey is not sexy? How is having a fit lean 5′9 body, with long legs and beautiful soft flowing hair, an uplifting smile, and a warm friendly glow not sexy? She is probably the most charming, sweet, charismatic contestant of all of them. She has that girl next door feel. She seems to be the very sexy girl who also happens to be your close friend. When i watched her i felt she was very warm and genuine and she had an aura about her where you felt like you could approach her and actually talk to her. How is that not sexy? I LOVE YOU HONEY!!!!

  28. 29 Kay June 5, 2007 at 10:19 pm

I was sooo cheering for Honey Lee!!! Although Miss Japan is beautiful too…I totally fell in love with Miss Korea’s smile. ^_^ I’d do ANYTHING to have dimples like her!!!

@ Derek88 I totally agree with you! Miss Honey Lee of Korea is all of what you said and more! She is stunningly, blindingly BEAUTIFUL!!!

  29. 30 derek88 June 5, 2007 at 11:14 pm

    Kay,

I’m very happy you love Honey too! Let’s continue to support Honey!

  30. 31 derek88 June 5, 2007 at 11:18 pm

you know what i especially liked? I liked how Honey blew kisses to the crowd after she was selected top 15. How’s that for sweet and charming!

  31. 32 derek88 June 6, 2007 at 1:04 pm

does she have an official blog?

  32. 33 noel June 6, 2007 at 4:38 pm

  37. 38 Roger that June 20, 2007 at 2:35 pm

who cares…… Honey Lee too much surgery. Japan won and she is all natural.

  38. 39 SF June 22, 2007 at 5:29 am

Is Miss Japan really “natural” or are people just saying that? I haven’t seen any before and after pics of her – so all this rattling on about “too much surgery” seems like a lot of bullshit without any comparison pics.

In any case, Miss Korea doesn’t look like she got much done really….she hasn’t changed much.

  39. 40 Matt June 22, 2007 at 4:58 pm

If there is no ample proof from a credible source that she got plastic surgery then why speculate on the issue? People still chnage from their teens into early 20’s. And make-up can do wonders for your appearance. She is an incredibly beautful girl…and it is pretty much reckless to assume that she already had surgery done…let alone the reason why she went so far in the competiton. She should have went farther I might add if she had a competent translator.Even the parts the translator got right sounded choppy and confusing. Hope to see more of her…Love U Honey Lee

  40. 41 cindy July 17, 2007 at 2:17 pm

she is really beautiful, i just wish she looked more ASIAN and less western.

  41. 42 oranges July 18, 2007 at 12:45 pm

shes gorgeous ! but i totally agree with cindy. how can you represent a country but like not look like youre from it :x unless theyre naturally born looking like that. :) just a personal opinion ^____^

  42. 43 christianpete July 18, 2007 at 5:59 pm

^ what country does Honey looks like shes from? she looks very asian to me.

  43. 44 jasmine July 27, 2007 at 5:35 pm

I wonder who that 1 person is that confessed that she didn’t have surgery?

  44. 45 yoomi23 July 29, 2007 at 1:45 am

wow! at first i really have my cards laid on MS KOREA and MS JaPAN…coz i find her beauty stunning and elegant..

CONGRATS ms JAPAN for winning this year’s MS UNIVERSE..

  45. 46 sLaVe July 31, 2007 at 2:08 pm

WAit. For serious? She’s the only one who didn’t have surgery? But I thought Koreans are so picked on for their plastic surgeries…

    -sLaVe

  46. 47 JunJiHyun4Ever August 7, 2007 at 6:28 am

she looks 1/2 korean 1/2 caucasian

  47. 48 A! August 18, 2007 at 4:07 pm

I wish everybody would stop saying stuffs about honey Lee that she had plastic surgery and so on.. cuz if you look at the pic of her when she was younger, she just looks the same as now.
