Summer is not officially here but don’t tell these pop divas. Korea’s madonna, Uhm Junghwa, too-sexy-for-u Suh In young and divalicious Lee Hyori show off their fake n’ bake (?) tans at recent events- Ms Uhm at the launch of her book, Ms “Ho” In-young getting her sexy groove on at a M7 party and Ms Hyori looking tight in a smoky blue minidress in Japan.
To achieve that same bronzed look, we recommend the following self-tanners:
(1) Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel
(2) Lancome Soleil Flash Bronzer
(3) Neutogena Micro-mist tanning spray
*Clarins and Lancome are available in Korea. However, Neutrogena tanning spray is not.*

i thought hyori’s tan was real?
she did say once that when she was younger the other kids made fun of her and called her ugly because she had really short hair and dark skin…
Hyori’s tan looks more real to me. Ah well…
Just wanted to say that Hyori’s outfit is so cute. I’m going to find me one like that XD
As long as they don’t look like an orange or Indian with their tans..I’m okay with it haha. I think POPSEOUL would have a lot to say about the tans the girls have at my school >_
Hyori did get a strong tan in the Maldives fairly recently, but don’t remember exactly how long ago that was, nor would I have any idea how long such a tanning would last. But there’s some possibility that her tan actually is real.
There is something about In Young that i don’t like! She’s way too much! As for Hyori and UJH, they look gorgeous
Yeah hooray for embracing darker skin!!!! I’m black so I’m all for it. Obviously these females don’t care which is good makes me feel more welcomed. And tanning is such a big business in the US all year around…lol our charm is rubbing off I would love to see Korea catch on.
if you take a look at the pics of when Hyori was a child, you’ll notice she had the same healthy tan as she does now. Just like BoA (she doesn’t go by the moniker of “Kkamshi” for no reason :-p ) and a few other kpop artist, their darker complexions are natural.
As for Inyoung and Junghwa, they only became tan within the last couple of years. I suspect, they either went to tanning salon or used one of the products described above.
There has been for the last several years a paradigm shift (although not a drastic one) in the way darker skin colour is generally perceived in S.Korea. It is viewed more favorably now, much more than in the past. I believe that is progress and headed in the right direction.
christianpete – perhaps a slight shift, but discrimination still exists. I was once asked by some guy I just met why I was so dark…. also my sister is rather dark skinned and she gets flack for it as well. A sonbae who is very handsome but dark gets passed over for any type of official activities in the army. The list goes on…… I never thought that my color would be the source of discrimination in my own country.
It’s important to realize that for Asians, the prejudice against darker skin isn’t a “race” issue, but rather a “class” issue.
Lower classes were often farm workers and had to work during the day so they would get tans.
That’s why most Asians prefer pale (not white) skin because it’s a social status.
oh LOL “fake ‘n bake” popseoul i love ur sarcasm and humor!!!!
i was wondering do korean ppl discriminate a lot? i am tan-skinned since i am puertorican and i do wish to visit s.korea sometime but i am afraid that ppl will act weird around me since im non-asian and tan-skinned
uhm jung hwa’s tan looks so bad.
and Suh In young needs to tone it down a little. Her outfits are so skimpy..
Lee Hyori’s tan & outfit looks fine though :]
how do they get back to white
i thought that was in
