Sexy half-Korean star, Ursula Mayes (2
who is usually found scantily-clad in magazine spreads, looked like a plain jane in a dusty colored prom gown off the racks at Itaewon for the launch of EI Solutions skincare in Korea. I’m not sure what happens when American stars come to Korea but they seem to tone it down alot - darkened hair, very little makeup and ultra conservative clothes. It’s ironic that domestic divas go all out by showing off whatever they’ve got - whether its their cleavage or legs by wearing ultra flashy outfits.
Ms. Mayes’ contract with EI Solutions is worth 500 million won.
Also, did you know that she has a 10 year old child?

why is she so damn hot
10 year-old child? So she was pregnant when she was 16-17?
Jesus. Harlot–thy name is Ursula!
It interesting that Ursula Mayes is popular here while Sonja Sohn is unknown.
interesting factoid there about her 10 year old kid if true… her myspace page gives no indication of a child. don’t people usually flaunt their love for their kid? if true, does that mean she’s a single mom? i’m surprised the korean media hasn’t impaled her for that as they would have for a native korean celeb…
Kkachi,
Sonja Sohn looks half-black. And Koreans are hyper-racists.
Is it so surprising now?
Gaek,
I never said that I was surprised by it. I said that it was interesting. Sonja Sohn has done a bit more than stand around opening briefcases and deserves more attention than Ursula Mayes.
P.S. Your posts to me sound condescending. You are either unfamiliar with the language, or you do not know how to mock properly.
she’s so pretty..
but dang. 10-year-old child? holy moly, teenage pregnancy! that must be weird, to see your mom scantily clad and crap. ew, weird.
Very true. Lately there has been an article that reports on Amerie being shocked at the “skimpy” native Koreans…Amerie said that she never imagined native Koreans to be like that…
her child must be so pretty/good-looking.
kkachi- no worries about gaek- that’s his style - an a$$hole (excuse my french)
she needs to whiten her teeth!
ok, who is Ursual Mayes? I’ve never heard of her before. Someone said, briefcase, so I’m assuming she one of those Deal or No Deal models. If she’s famous for that, it’s just sad how we are making a big deal about her now.
She’s a cover model, right? She’s pretty alright.
Half-Korean star?! but what’s that?!Even I’m not korean, I dont undaestand, why koreans give a lot attention to where a star was born, raised or something like this?!
Is thatb so important?!Are you koreans so proud that some one was born somewhere else and make come back to korea?!So, it thouch you so matc that you are reedy to love them?Ha Ha Ha
I really can’t undestand this? It’s so ridiculius. At least, a star have to have some talent! Do you don’t like yours stars wno were born in Korea?!
This is normal in US Korea is really different from what i see they barely cover anything
P.S. I LOVE HER YELLOW AND WHITE OUTFIT I SO WANT IT!!!!!
She has 10 year old kid? are u kidding me? She’s really hawt!
LoL,She is not famouse in Korea!
Most Korean people don’t know who she is!
No way, she has a 10 year old kid?
Ursula is a really ugly name.
I’ve never heard of her. The only famous half-Korean stars I’ve heard of are Daniel Henney and Dennis Oh, and that other girl Kim…I don’t know her last name.
she’s ugly
I’m a good friend of Ursula’s. The reason why Ursula doesn’t mention her child on Myspace is because she likes to keep her personal and business life separate. She loves her daughter so much and spends all of her free time with her daughter from all of her traveling and appearances. Ursula first landed her modeling gig winning Maxim Magazine’s Hometown Hottie in Washington, DC. She later got in the Import Models scene and won Miss Hot Import Nights in 2005, then auditioned for Deal or No Deal which is the #1 game show in the world. Ursula has been successful since. She was born in Seoul, South Korea at a military base and came to the U.S. later because of the constant moving. She is a wonderful role model as a young Mother. Much props because the media and public generally does not support Women who are single Mothers. Ursula is a prime example that she can take on challenges and succeed while being the best Mother she could ever be - and plus she’s half Korean but still Korean - woohoo!!!! (www.UrsulaMayes.com) or check her Myspace.
She used to parade that info around at first bragging how she was considered a “milf”. Read maxim. Classy right? And she isn’t even the same looking person without all of that makeup fake boobs and fake hair. She looks like she belongs in vegas……as a stripper.
Who is she?
I don’t know if the word “famous” is being used loosely here but I’ve never heard of her (and I’m sure I’d remember b/c of her unusual name). She looks a dime a dozen chick
I haven’t heard of S.Sohn either but looking at her profile, she doesn’t seem to do any acting in Korea (or in Korea-related films) so it’s not surprising she’s not well-known in Korea. Also, if I just saw her on the streets I would hardly think she was half-Korean, simply half of some kind of Asian. So I’m kind of shocked that people would use her as an example of racism in Korea. But there IS racism in Korea (and Asia in general) and I only hope it’s getting better.
@kino06
Uh, the only credible “famous” 1/2 Korean “stars” in Korea are just about D.Henney and D.Oh.
But as for an explanation of why those of mixed race attract a lot of attention I think could be summed up by Aya’s comment “Mixed people are considered attractive, and get a lot of notice, in EVERY country. Mixed looks themselves are considered exotic, but at the same time, look enough like both sides of their heritage that they are relatable.”
This website explores the idea of mixed races pretty casual but informative manner - http://alllooksame.com/?p=46. I think you’d do well to take a gander >_> Hopefully, it’ll broaden your intellectual capacity enough to at least improve your spelling if not your close-mindedness.
Yeah, there was exaggeration about her American fame and success when they promoted her in Korea — she was called a famous American actress? I have nothing against the woman, but being on Deal or No Deal doesn’t make you famous OR an actress. Unless the definition of fame and acting have changed?
That’s not her fault though, the Korean media exaggerate all the time — along the lines of calling Ms. Shiri now Ms. Lost “world star”.
And I think what people were trying to say before about “mixed Koreans” and “racism” is generally mixed WHITE Koreans get the positive press and support at home.
Amerie got love when she came to Korea but she was already a bonafide American music star in a genre that’s popular in Korea, plus aside from her skin tone she *looks* like a very pretty Korean girl. And she is relatively vocal about her pride and ownership of her Korean heritage in the American press.
Dennis Oh and Daniel Henney are some good looking guys, but does no one else think it’s ridiculous that Daniel Henney is a Korean mega star and he can barely speak Korean — STILL? Just like how Hong Kong cinema bent over backwards to include Maggie Q, who isn’t of Chinese descent, into domestic movies by working English language roles just for her.
The line that Ursula Mayes spokemodels for is for ’smaller face’? I just thought that was funny and it’s apt that they’d have a mixed or foreign model — even though I thought the stereotype was that Westerners have bigger faces than Asians? (Or is it the other way around)
Again, nothing against this model, I think she’s very good looking and looks quite classy in her pics.
I just thought I’d point out that it’s still true, Asia is a great place for American actors to get their big breaks. It’s easier for them than making it in the states or other English language markets and is often used as a test or stepping stone for “larger success” in America. And the reverse is NOT true, it’s still extremely hard for Asian stars to make it in the states and America is not a “stepping stone’ or place to get your “first break” it’s the brass ring.
