Hyori looks like an old fashioned country girl in all her pictures from Ethiopia. The natural sexiness that oozes out of her whenever she’s in front of the camera completely vanished – perhaps it’s the lack of make-up and the lights, but what a disappointment! I expected better from Ms. Hyori. And it looks like she put on a couple of pounds, but shouldn’t it be the other way around? You should loose weight when you volunteer at an impoverished nation, not gain them. Maybe Hyori ate seconds everyday, leaving the children in the picture hungrier than ever and as a result, they couldn’t (or wouldn’t) smile for the picture. Anyhow, Hyori is back in Korea and her entire Ethiopian experience is going to air on KBS on the 30th.

hyori is pretty within make up…I don´t understand the critics…^^ and she isn´t fat pufff really I flip with this comments…
I agree with popseoul about the meaning of volunteer work. To have it filmed and have all these photos taken to show the whole world you’ve done one good deed is a selfish reward. Well we’ll see in the future if she really cares about them or not.
Anyhow, I think she looks great with or without makeup.
She’s got that natural beauty.
Considering it’s about what she’s doing, it shouldn’t even matter how she looks. I think she looks the same anyway. o.o;; As for her hauling out the camera crews for her 10 day escapade, I don’t think there’s nothing wrong with that. At least she’s still doing something. o.o;; So good for her~
she still looks pretty to me..
i dont believe that taking a camera crew and announcing that your going to go to ethiopia is right, but if hyori never did, at some point people would start saying that shes not doing anything for other people/volunteering herself. and people who dont volunteer have no right to criticize hyori, at least shes DOING something.
i dont agree with what popseoul says all the time, but i do understand sarcasm, and i still enjoy visiting this site.
you cant please everyone i guess. “everyone is entitled to their own opinion”.
what Hyori accomplished was praise worthy and brave. She didn’t just volunteer a couple of hours at the local soup kitchen. She traveled 5000 miles to very volatile part of north-east Africa (there are serious conflicts in countries nieghboring Ethiopia and internal problems with armed rebels and heated border disputes with Eritrea)…. Its also a hazardous environment where she was exposed to diseases, wild animals, parasites, and other threats that don’t exist in S. Korea. So WHY put yourself in a potentially dangerous situation for a few pictures? This was not a vacation, she was there to help the less fortunate in Ethopia.
alot of users (including popseoul) brought up the subject of publicity. Theres nothing wrong with using ones fame to call attention to a good cause (western celebs do it all the time and are praised for it – such as bono). Also, charities actively seek out celebs to represent them. The increased attention a celeb generates for a cause will then result in more awareness and donations (this ultimately benifits the suffering who are in need of the aid). So its better to have Hyori’s efforts filmed than have no one know about it.
Yes, it is possible to do a good deed and have that deed publicized. I don’t see why its a problem.
that’s true popseoul, she could’ve done her good deed in private.
i think its a good thing that Hyori did what she does because she’s a well known celebrity and that will at least helps to gain more supports and interest from people in korea and especially Hyori’s fans to participate and learn about people in Ethiopia.. regardless of her other intention coz everybody always have their own agenda and i think this is kinda win-win situation where both gaining something from it and that is better than nothing…
she looks soooo pretty! just as always (:
it’s so nice of her to go over there and help out
i luv hyori!! she’s so awesome
i still think she looks cute and pretty, maybe we’re over analysing this
i think she’s still beautiful. it might sound crazy, but i think she looks her best when she’s at her most natural. what a scary society we live in… if someone looks like she or he gained a little bit of weight, they’re criticized for it. it’s preposterous.
Thank you, popseul, for being a complete a$$hole.
” And it looks like she put on a couple of pounds, but shouldn’t it be the other way around? ”
^ So anerxia must be attractive to you, eh?
Hyori still looks so friggen pretty and cute. At least she’s doing something instead of criticizing others.
@sarang – You have a right to express your opinion as we have to right to express ours.
Enjoy!*
This is a month late.
i told you so, it’s only SONG HYE GYO who looks pretty gorgeous WITH OR WITHOUT MAKE-UP.
hyori should be shot in the f*cking mouth. lol but whatever, it brought on attention to people that actually give a crap, and more anti’s to her hopefully. I can’t wait for her to die already. she’s a useless human being, seriously…no talent in singing, never going to become half as famous as britney or beyonce no matter how crazy britney gets. lol just murder yourself already hyori.
Why dont you all just shut up.. who cares about the kids in ethiopia beside me. I know hyori doesnt.
people should lighten up. if it pisses you to read these post, here’s an idea: DON’T READ IT. anyhoo, i think she should take a page out of changmin’s book and done it in secrecy then later announced that she did it. for whatever purposes, she done a somewhat good deed
who cares if she put on 15 pounds or hasnt got tones of make up on
I can’t even tell that she has put on weight
What shes doing is really wonderful and ppl shood appreciate how kind hearted she is
…..
thats my opinion so yah
I love u Hyori
