Actress Kim Sae-ah was faced with DUI charges a couple of days ago, but interestingly, the Korean media seem to be more interested in her real age than her charges. During the police investigation, it was revealed that she was three years older than what she claimed to be (31) and that turned out to be one of the biggest news of the week.
Am I the only one thinking that her DUI charges are more serious than her real age? Lying about age happens all the time in the star biz, especially in Korea because many still adhere to the notion that young equates beauty. The leggy comedian/singer Hyun Young lied about her age when she debuted and singer T pretended that she was several years older during her Uptown days because she was too young. So what’s the fuss about? Is it really a big deal for stars to lie about their real age?
*Kim’s alcohol level was .05% and her licence was revoked for 100 days.
Is it just me, or do her eyes look funny in that picture?
I don’t really care about a celebrities age. If I like an actor/actress or singer then I like them because they can sing well or act well not because they are under 30. I don’t look at a person and say, he/she’s so old!
I can see why she chose to lie about her age. Maybe she thought that she could get more jobs if people thought that she was younger.
Actors lie about their age because they are extremely vain.

like Choi Si Won, his real birthday is on Arpil 6, 1986, but he lied lied that he was born in 1987
that makes him younger than some other celebrities, but in reality he is older
she looks more 31 than 34 anyways

i think overall, people somewhat care about age. not exactly the issue of LYING about age, but how old they are. a lot of netizens use age against celebrities that they hate. i.e, chae yeon. people criticize her and say that shes too old to be dancing a certain way, etc. without saying it, people know that when a celebrity becomes over the age of 25/26, theyre instantly “old” in the eyes of society. if you think about it, people definitely arent “old” when theyre only 25 to their 30’s, its actually still young. i think people should change the way they view celebrity’s’ ages, but the age thing is so engraved into society/publicity of Korea.
For this problem about stars lying about their age, i just dont care. its stuipid that theyre company does it, but overall i dont think anyone really minds-unless theyre an anti..

In any case, age isn’t a big deal….it’s not a crime and it doesn’t hurt anybody…a white lie. Her drinking on the other hand was a bad move.
age is such a vain and arbitrary number in korean society is ain’t even funny. once a woman is over 25, if she’s still single, there’s no hope for her. same for guys over 29. in that light, i can see why celebs lie about their age. having said that, i’ve seen her in some dramas (i.e. seoul 1945) and she looked OLD. *shrugs* sometimes, you can’t lie to the camera…
is it just me or does this pic strangely remind me of an uglier version of kim tae hee? but then again, it could just be my imagination ._.

an actor friend of mine refuses to disclose (even to me) how old she really is. The internet says one thing, I look at her and know it’s completely untrue. I don’t think any less of her because her age isn’t what everyone thinks it is.

It’s a little annoyihng that they would lie about their age. I mean, age is age. It’s not like they are going to be treated better just because they are older or younger. It’s like that in the US as well. Take Emmanuel Chriqui. when I first looked at her she looked “not legal”! and then I come on to her imdb page surpised to find that she’s older than me (I’m almost 25).
I don’t know what it is or what is it with stars that they gotta lie about their damn age. It’s just an age. So what if they this or that? Why not just decline to give the age at all. it’s better than fooling fans just so they can feel better about themselves or the situation!
