While Rain is busy filming Speed Racer with his pal, Park Jun Hyung, Star M and the local (North American) promoters have started their blame game and it looks pretty nasty. Star M held their press conference on the morning of the 18th (Korea time) to “explain” the situation aka clear their name and Rain’s and blame everything on the local promoters. But, towards the end of the press conference, Tim Kim from Revolution Canada made a surprise entrance and basically rebutted Star M’s claim that they had to cancel because the concert halls weren’t suited for Rain’s concert. Kim stated…
“Who signs a contract without checking to see if the concert hall is suitable or not? If it wasn’t suitable, one [Star M] shouldn’t have signed the contract.”
Surprised by his entrance, Star M’s rep just rambled things like, “we regret that this happened, we are willing to take responsibility if needed..blah blah blah.” Basically, nothing was resolved with this press conference, but Star M announced that they are still planning for the remaining concerts in the states and they’ll release the dates on the 23rd.
Throughout the press conference, Star M referred Rain as an artist and stated that he was the victim of bad circumstances. Rain an artist? Rain the victim? Um, how about the fans who bought the over-priced tickets, only to find out that the concert was a no-go only two hours before the event or received bounced checks in return?
People, stop the blame game, admit that you messed up, ask for forgiveness and start over. And Rain, hiding out in Germany ain’t doing you any good, if you want to be a “world star,” step up to the plate and take some responsibility!

Rain everyone commits mistakes, you have to ask proper apologies, whether you think you are at fault or not is already immaterial. What’s crucial is you connect to your fans and have a heart-to-heart with them, instead of hiding out. Even if you hate rejection or failures, you have to suck it up so to speak, and be man enough.
i agree with noodle. he needs to ” MAN UP “
It’s a nice try of StarM having the balls to at least hold a press conference attempting to clear up the mess. However, far too much damage is done. Everyone involve with the U.S. Rain’s Coming World Tour leg has lost all credibility in the States. No venue in their right mind will sign Rain now with his cancellation track record. It’ll take years for Rain to recover from this mess. The U.S. music industry is brutally unforgiving.
I suggest concentrating on your acting Rain because dominating in the U.S. music industry is far from reality now.
that is such a typical korean response. if it works out well, its all to star m’s credit, if all works out bad, its the local promoter’s fault. as far as i know, rain will never have a successful “u.s.” concert because local promoters will NOT want to work with star m. precedence is a scary thing.
Rain needs to apologize to the fans who were looking forward to his concerts (that were cancelled) because the connection is between him and his fans….not the promoters. They want to hear from him. Maybe then, the fans will still be willing to go to his concerts when it does come to the U.S.
Rain has apologized for canceling his concert. He was so sad and cried a lot. I’m not fan of Rain, but truely, the victim of this game ( or not) is Rain, don’t blame him like that ! >”<
daffodil he already did? thanks for clearing that up, but you see it is to his best interest that he remains visible for his fans and critics alike. besides his name will still be connected to the failed concerts because the concerts are his.
it is really hard to put the blame on one site but, yes i do agree if you sign something, you must check the site out and see if its suitable and look at all avenue and back up if anything fails….
maybe i am THE too cautious type but before anything really materalize, one should look for alternative.
really embrassing to wash your laundry outside just to make one look clean.
daffodil & noodle,
Rain did apologize to a group of people who gathered at a restaurant after the cancellation of the LA concert, but that can’t be viewed as an official apology. Sobbing in front of a handful of fans and expressing that he feels bad doesn’t count as an official apology in my book. He needs to apologize to all his fans and find a way to reconnect with them if he ever wants to return to the pop world.
popseoul, I agree. Crying doesn’t mean anything, but that he is a good actor. And a few fans? How pathetic.
Go Tim Kim! ^^
I agree with both Noodle (on both comments) and Yang. Rain come back and show your U.S. fans that you’re truly a man.
Michelle, you’re so right
Crying doesn’t mean anything. Everyone can cry, I can cry on command! xD
public apology please ^^
Bi an artist? Maybe so but he is also part of a business. In business, you will have a crisis here and there and this is definitely one. You can give Bi the benefit of the doubt but it’s been appalling how he’s handled this crisis.
As has been earlier mentioned, sobbing and apologizing to a group of fans doesn’t count. Step up. Hold your own official press conference. Don’t let your managers or promoters do everything for you.
In business, when you’re in a crisis, you have to tackle it head on. Any silence causes you to lose credibility in the publics mind and this is what has happened here.
So Rain apologize to small group on people in LA. He sure did not apologize to the Tooronto Fans who still never got there money back. And he sure in hell has not apologize to the Hawaii fans who brougnt his over priced tickets. I could care less about Rain any more. You had your chance and blew it big time. Maybe he should take a lesson from the Big Concert that will be at the Manhattan Center and Las Vagas where the venues are small and ticket prices are very reasonable. Personally I wish StarM and Rain would disappear from the face of this earth. StarM is still trying to play the blame came and Bi is hiding out in Europ with his head between his legs, what a wimp. Okay all you Rain fans I am ready for your attacks.
I really feel bad for this guy, being among Time’s 100 most influential people is no small thing. I was really cheering for him to make it big abroad to put a stop to the image that all Asians are good of in the entertainment biz to is martial arts, Asian food, technology and good family life. He’s one of the few Asians who could stop that stereotype about us.
At the end of the day, his failure will not help other aspiring Asians to make it big in Hollywood.
Btw Rain, my astrologer told me that if a guy with an alias Rain will impregnate me, he’ll be famous worldwide. How about it Rain, it will put a stop to your string of bad luck hihihi…Ok bad joke, hold your fire hehe.
Anyway, you’ve got the talent, the looks, the charisma, and fan base. Don’t forget your fans for God’s sake, give an official apology and stop being a baby. Give ownership to your mistakes before it’s too late!
He’s not hiding in Europe. He has to film his movie.
is he really hiding in germany?
Is it just me, or does this article sound a bit too subjective?
“Rain an artist? Rain the victim? Um, how about the fans who bought the over-priced tickets, only to find out that the concert was a no-go only two hours before the event or received bounced checks in return?”
1. Yes, Rain is an artist. He may not be the type of artist who sits behind an easel and paints scenery, but a musician is also considered an artist.
2. I don’t think he wanted to screw up his footing in the US. Rain does not work alone. He is busy with his schedule already as a singer and actor, do you really think he is the one who oversees each event? The plans backfired. He did not mean for it to happen as it’s costing him a lot as well.
3. Over-priced tickets or not, the fans chose to purchase them on their own will. No one forced them to. Furthermore, no one forced the fans to spend hundreds on plane tickets.
4. Concerts never get cancelled? They should have rescheduled, but they have a tight schedule to work with. Save the money for later, unless you are going to die between now and the next concert.
Last but not least, he is in Germany filming. I do believe he has to continue with his life as an entertainer. Do you expect him to stay in the United States and mope around because his concert did not go as planned? Being a celebrity is not an easy job; most celebrities have busy schedules and Rain definitely is not an exception.
Give him a break. I’m not a big Rain fan myself- I, too, believe he owes a public apology since his fans have been disappointed, but to blame him so much seems unreasonable. As influential as he can be in the entertainment world, he does not have complete control over the things his manager & company decides to say or do. They control him, he does not control them.
Very well said JJJ! I feel so sorry for Rain. He is a victim here and yet he is being judged and lambasted by criticisms and being blamed for the unfortunate thing that happened to hi s career.
Wake up people. Wake up popseoul. Rain ain’t hiding, he’s filming. And stop calling him a ‘baby’ people. Everyone faces setbacks in their life, you people should move on and stop blaming/critisizing him. Hear that? MOVE ON.
what amounts to ‘apology to fans’ is a very subjective thing. is he supposed to hold a presscon as well? does he have to write an article about it and publish it on a website? it’s very subjective. all in all, rain is an artiste whose primary concern is ‘entertaining’ and that is why he spends a lot of money (or the agency…whatever) hiring all these experts to iron out the details.
his sincere apology was heard by most of us. if you’ve never heard his apology, then you’re too angry to make a judgment. or not a big enough fan or have not been surfing the internet for answers enough.
rain should be treated like any other artistes, be it puff daddy or siti norhaliza. when something goes like this goes wrong, someone organizing it screwed up. it’s unfair for everyone to say he had something to do with it. he fought pain to continue his show in HK despite falling off the stage….think about it. his commitment to his fans is undeniable.
yes, the tickets were overpriced, I went to his Malaysia concert. but the show was spectacular and he gave us EVERYTHING he’s got left despite an injured arm. his dream has always been to satisfy and please his fans. to say that ‘crying’ is no use is cruel. he put everything into making it work – now that it hasn’t turned out, at least cut him some slack.
angry….yes. but be angry with the right people. rain is probably angry as well. stop compounding it and look at the real situation. the people who screwed up screwed his dream as well.
being screwed two sides down can’t be fun….
To JJJ
You always have control and lets face it tickets didnt sell well so Rain cancelled some of the blame lies upon him and crying like he is on some type of drama show wont cut it. He shouldve performed anyway regardless of ticket sales.
Right on dwilliams, we’re not exactly asking for Rain’s blood to spill. So chill guys, ehrm ok? Filming a movie must be so taxing that Rain can’t elaborate on his apology. I could only speak for myself why called him a baby, the more that he remains vague about how he thinks those canceled concerts affected his fans instead of >him, the more that speculations will keep getting bigger. It doesn’t mean I don’t want him to succeed, I do. He just has to react to the brewing situation more seriously instead of hiding behind the curtain of work.
gah i don’t like Rain very much lah.
Does anyone know anything about the local promoter V2B Global,INC. who Rain blameS for the cancellation of the concerts?
I did some research. V2B Global,INC. is a Nevada Corporation recently formed on 11/7/06.
It’s website and domain name was only recently acquired on March 6, 2006.
Of course V2B was set up as a shell company to protect itself from any financial loss if the concerts failed. This company is less than a year old and it has problems.
My question is who is V2B Global? Are they actually local promoters or is there any relation to STAR M? Was this shell company set up with prior intentions to as a way out (scape goat) to blame it ticket sales failed to meet their financial expectations. Any thoughts?
If you are interested here is my research. I made a mistake the domain name are acquired on March 27, 06

yeah….though i support bi and his world tour..he and starM really should have checked the concert hall to see if it was suited -_-;;
but yea. admit both sides were wrong … get a move on.
and yeah hahha bi isn’t hiding. he’s filming for speed racer.
He’s in Germany for “Speed Racer”. The concert wasn’t really canceled, probably just moved after the movie shooting.
ha… JJJ actually tried to elaborate on what an artist is… a musician? Rain isn’t even a musician… all he does is prance and dance around! I’ve never seen him play any sort of instrument on stage. He’s a pop ideal, not a true musician. Did he ever produce any of his song?? Someone help me clear that up.
First all…
Sorry for my bad english,
I´m from Chile, and I like Rain too
…
He is filming Speed Racer, he has a contract.
he apogolized to his fans… not all the fans.
he can´t go wherever he want…
He will back after movie shooting
the fans… and too much people
will waiting for him.
…
Just some people don´t want that Rain
will show his talent to the world ¬¬
they are very nasty
rain go rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone actually know what role Rain has in Speed Racer? Is it a big role, or just a small cameo? I hope he’s not just some secondary character where he appears for 10 minutes.
someone said…”what amounts to ‘apology to fans’ is a very subjective thing. is he supposed to hold a presscon as well?”….um, why not…he’s held a presscon for EVERYTHING else!
Rain, an artist? Yes, I do like an occasional laugh, but not one that could kill me.

-boba
Come on kid, you still don’t get it do ya? How the hell is he gonna to hold a press conference when he’s busy filming? Please be smarter next time if you wanna post a comment.
xanqxi:
“V2B Global Inc. is an entertainment company specializing in large-scale concert promotionV2B.”
You can read this on V2B Global website. Question: Do they promote other concerts for several artists or was Rain´s World Tour the only one?
Mr. Lee from Hawaii Click Entertainment said about “Revolution Entertainment” (not Revolution Canada) “This is one of Star M´s related personnel, a company established in South Korea.
Star M also said that: Rain did not filed a lawsuit against Star M. Who are stockholders from Star M?
Only my thought!
You might have the right to get angry for all the things that happened in Rain’s concert cancellation Or whatever people are complaining about the fiasco of Rain’s concert are;
I think people,we must get over it…it’s over…Things happen, its finished,No use of pointing who’s the right one or the big one or whos the idiot…Let’s forget it and face a new and wonderful day for all of us.Wish us all, better luck next time.
Expecting, not all of you guys ,will agree for what i’m saying. But let bygones be bygones, and let us give Rain a chance to speak on his behalf to clean his name or to give us answers to every question we have in our mind. But to make it possible,Let us wait for his comeback from Berlin,I’m sure he will make a way to connect to his fans and ask for understanding…
Don’t allowed our mouth to ba wa waw and you,you did that and that…It will not make everythings clear unless Rain, his self will show up and answers all your questions…
So,if i were you Guys,we need to shut our mouth to miyaw and bawaw waw, wait for the person to comeback…No worries,he will comeback and can’t hide his self for a long period of time…He need us his fans…intiendes!Amigo, Amigas? Lets dance Maria,Maria by Carlo Santana to ease our dissappointments…Just want you to laugh…..hahhaha
He is filming movie, not hiding.
he apogolized to everyone, even the poor organisor.
he tried his best not dissapoint anyone, but something is out of his control.
no matter how, we understand his situation, we knw he hurt.
will still support.
No he didn’t apologized to everyone, he apologized to a handleful of people. Get it right.
He is not that damn busy where he can’t take 20 to 30 mintues out of filiming to hold a small & quick presscon.
That BS if you believe he is.
Hell, he could make a video apologie and post it online. That would be easy & quick for him. He hasn’t even made an attempt to apologize to fans outside of LA who got screwed over and it’s been how long now?
If Rain isn’t the definition of a baby I don’t know who is.
He’s sitting back while Star M “TRYS” to clean up HIS image me repeat once again for those who have their heads in the clouds;”HIS image”.
Does that not define a child. Someone who can’t take care of themselves?
People need to seriously get real and understand EVERYONE involved is to blame for this fiasco in some way.
INCLUDING RAIN!!
Ha. Excuse me for my grammer mistakes. I’am in a rush.
Peace.
I noticed that a lot of people are saying bitter things without researching what really happened. Rain is very earnest and he works hard to give his best performance each time. The organisers are to blame for the fiasco both Star M and local promoters. They are all amateurs when it comes to putting on concerts in the US and I beleive they rushed into things with out the proper research. Now they are all pointing to each other to blame. Star M royally screwed up everything and should recompense the Fans in Toronto. I bought my ticket and Revolution Canada says that they cannot refund until Star M returns the money.** Oh and Rain is busy filming in Germany he is not hiding. I hope that Rain will realise that he should bond more with his fans maybe set up a blog to keep everyone informed. I think this is necessary for his success in the West in the west we like more direct contact entertainer. He’s the best and I pray all the best to him. And he is an *artiste* actor, singer, dancer thank you very much.
lmsandra from Canada
It’s a damn shame people still blame some local promoters for ALL of this. Did you not read anything in the article posted. Revolution sat there and called Star M out about their lies, same way Click has on various hawaiian news stations and the same way V2B has with their official statement.
lmsandra please take off your blinders and do your own research before coming on talking about everyone else because you obviously have no idea what you are talking about.
You just said it in your own post, Revolution Canada can’t give you your refund why? Because Star M screwed them over. They have no money to give you. Star M screwed all of the promoters it what it’s starting to come down too.
Like someone said before, it’s just like a Korean Company to sit there lie & do nothing but apologize.
Concert halls weren’t suitable? Get the hell out of here. Like Revolution said, who signs a contract without checking if the venues are suitable or not? That’s BS. StarM is BS.
And I agree with Ami. How freakin long would it take to make a video apologie or something. Hell, youtube has direct upload. Get the boy a webcam.
He’s hiding! Filming or not. He’s sitting back being babied once again by STARM. So much for caring about the fans.
yeah! word. An actor, singer, dancer, model, spokeperson for many organization. Hell, if he isn’t an artist, I don’t know who is.
Rain being babied? We’re not babying him.
Aww..baby Rain, it’s okay. It’s never your fault.
haha. I admit it, Clouds are like this sometimes. But it’s bc we love him so much! ^_^
since rain has a consistent image as a person of work ethic and integrity, a missing official presscon to control the damage done to his reputation really points to lack of business acumen than some character flaw i think.
maybe JYP trained/collaborated with him so well in building up an image, but never coached him on handling damages to the image-product or crisis control. i mean, it’s a complex process people either learn from experience or MBA degrees!
if you look at this as a business relationship, he’s strangely on the passive (when he had been so assertive to put out a good product in the first place!)
if you choose to look at it as an intimate star-vs-adoring fans, then of course nothing bad has happened to that bubble, because the complex realities of business of which rain is part of, is not essential to adoring him in the first place.
p.s. that’s some intriguing work, xangxi. it’d be a hoot to uncover at the end of all this mess (a few years from now?), if a shell company was part of the shady plan!
not surprised STAR M is pointing the finger back. anything concrete they admit can be used against them in big-moolah lawsuits, right?
xangxi,
I recall reading an article many months ago when Rain’s world tour was announced that the contract to handle the tour was signed by Rain, Star M, and JYP which is why all of them are named as defendants in the lawsuits filed in both Korea and U.S.
From what I can remember, Star M’s chairman is Jang Donggun who is one of its principal shareholders, and Rain and his father also received Star M shares when they signed the contract.
I also heard that the Hawaii promoter who filed criminal charges against Rain and others also worked on Rain’s concert at Madison Square Garden so he supposedly knows alot about the inside dealings between Star M and Rain.
Rain is no innocent bystander in this whole disaster.
why are you people being so mean to Rain..
i agree what JJJ had said earlier!! >=(
No matter what happens.
I believe in Rain =]~
Jeong Ji Hoon oppa~ FIGHTING =D
omg!
everyone! people just give him a break…!! he is probably really tired from all these things already.
maybe it is a bit of his fault.. but still he has a manger i’m pretty sure most of the decisions were made my his manger + his company. if his company was really that good.. rain wouldn’t have chose to leave his company after the contract was overdo.
i know that he worked very hard to prepare for all those concerts. you can tell he lost some weights from all those practising. i also heard he came 2 weeks before the day last concert to practise and perform the best concert to the fans.
he made an apology..just not to everyone.
but you people shouldnt blame all those thing on him…
rain is just an image for fans. an idol thats it..
hes like under the control of his company
so all those decisions MAYBE weren’t exactly made by him probably by his manager + his company.. (who probably only cares about the money and not the fans)..
and the company probably made those decision because they probably see that they cant earn profits out of it..
P.S. AND HE IS NOT HIDING! HES IN GERMANY FILMING!!! >=(
