Jang Dong-gun wants to stop domestic violence

0730-jandg.jpg

The handsome Jang Dong-gun is featured in the August issue of Korea Vogue right before our cultural ambassador, Rain, who is featured in the same issue. Could this be considered a hint? Well, if we were to assume that there is a reason for everything, even the order of the photo features, then yes, there is a reason why he is placed in front of Rain. But that’s another story.

However, this post is not about who comes first, but to shed light on Mr Jang’s involvement in the campaign against domestic violence with casual clothes brand, Giordano and domestic cosmetics brand, The Faceshop.

The reason for wearing the t-shirt in the photoshoot was to create awareness and spread the message that violence in the home needs to stop.

The SVITH: ‘Stop Violence In The Home’ campaign runs from July 22nd to August 19, 2007.

Please explain the hint of Jang Dong-gun’s article being placed before Rain in Vogue’s Aug. issue. Either domestic violence is rampant in Korea thus extremely important issue to address OR JDG is more popular than JJH.

    who cares about the article..
he looks ultra hot with that hair

    :) !

    oh dear~ “stop english in the home.” They must have been using Babelfish ^^;;

  6. 7 SF August 1, 2007 at 9:13 am

omg irony — I mean “stop violence* in the home”….this is what I get for teasing a shirt with I good cause XD

  7. 8 monalisa August 1, 2007 at 9:27 am

JDG’s always doing something for a good cause. I read that he has also pledged his cornea.

  8. 9 ed August 1, 2007 at 9:28 am

^ that’s an interesting point. wouldn’t the message be stronger, if it were in korean? or does it become too depressing (or militant), and not “fashionable” anymore?

i’d like to know if they donate any percentage of sales during this campaign to domestic violence advocates (women’s shelters, etc.), or if it’s just a nice image campaign for giordana/faceshop!

Rumor has it that Jang Dong-gun “serviced” Andre Kim to get his start in the movie business.

  10. 11 jjen August 1, 2007 at 10:09 am

Maybe his next charity can be stopping girls hearts from getting broken^^

  11. 12 ed August 1, 2007 at 10:29 am

    ^^
    !!!!!
then again i’m not surprised (JDG didn’t hit mega-won big time until Chingu, & he wasn’t even among the 1st choice for casting.)
so who else did andre “help out” – is he equal opportunity, or has a discerning taste only for fine men?

  12. 13 Liz August 1, 2007 at 11:34 am

Ah, this is a man after every woman’s heart. Campaigning against domestic violence!

I *heart* you Jang Dong-gun…even if I fell asleep twice while watching Typhoon.

  13. 14 OMG! August 1, 2007 at 12:00 pm

    hey PP:

your mom services me all the time! in fact, she’s doing it right now! w00t!

anywayz… i’m torn about celebs and agendas… are they THAT important that issues such as domestic violence needs to be addressed through them? OR are the issues not in the public eye such that celebrities are required to raise awareness? if celebs are genuinely passionate about their cause, then i guess kudos to them. if they are getting paid to endorse a cause however, shame on them for making a buck on others’ misfortune.

  14. 15 inez August 1, 2007 at 12:00 pm

    omg!!..PP!
that’s one hilarious rumor of JDG ’servicing’ Andre Kim!!LOL!
Man..he’s been in the business for so long starting from his modelling days..his parents actually sent his photo first..without his knowledge..! the rest is history!!
Anyway he’s a great man naturally, the most friendliest K/celeb i’ve ever met!

  15. 16 inez August 1, 2007 at 12:02 pm

    Oh yeah P/S:
thanks popseoul for having his gorgeous pic up there!

  16. 17 PP August 1, 2007 at 12:05 pm

Andre Kim is very powerful in the Korean entertainment industry. He can make or break new stars. Believe what
    you will.

BTW, let’s leave mothers out of this.

  17. 18 dwilliams August 1, 2007 at 12:08 pm

    OMG
I dont think JDG would just be endorsing domestic violence for a paycheck and that is just a side benefit. If he can bring awareness to domestic violence then so bid I cant really knock him for doing that now if other celebs would do that instead of spending 90% of their time having fan meetings who knows what impact would happen.

  18. 19 inez August 1, 2007 at 12:25 pm

    agree with u dwilliams!

  19. 20 monalisa August 1, 2007 at 2:06 pm

JDG has the looks, personality and money – why would he need Andre to give him a leg up in the entertainment business? PP, dont be a rumour monger!

  20. 21 PD August 1, 2007 at 2:08 pm

There are tons of good looking guys who want to get into the movie business. Same for good looking women.

You are living in a naive world if you dont think people need to do a little extra to get into certain professions.

  21. 22 dwilliams August 1, 2007 at 2:36 pm

PD you better let them know. YOUd be amazed at what goes on behind closed doors. Some of these celebrities are living on the downlow especially some of the men and you go figure out the rest.

  22. 23 nana August 1, 2007 at 4:39 pm

i love your banner and articles.. he is hot..
    thank you =)

  23. 24 Narae August 1, 2007 at 9:11 pm

There isn’t a single woman in my family that’s not dying to be with this man *sigh*…he’s hot but way to old for me :)

I agree with ED…why is the message in English? Some of the folks in Korea wear English shirts that don’t even make sense…why would they understand this one?hahaha…anyway…

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE MUST STOP!!!! Any ways to make it stop is fine with me.

  24. 25 monalisa August 1, 2007 at 9:26 pm

No, I’m not naive as I believe such things do occur. But I cant and wont belive JDG is part of such group of desperate people.

  25. 26 steadyhectic August 1, 2007 at 10:08 pm

Id blow Andre to become famous

  26. 27 anna August 2, 2007 at 2:37 am

I have a couple of friends who work with him on a regular basis and have nothing but good things to say of this guy. ::sigh::

  27. 28 sung August 2, 2007 at 7:19 am

    damn, steadyhectic…

  28. 29 jane August 2, 2007 at 11:18 am

can this man be any more perfect?

  29. 30 dont get it August 3, 2007 at 3:19 am

really don’t get it. JDG isn’t really handsome or anything. but he’s very…..RUGGED? yeah, rugged.

  30. 31 starlight August 3, 2007 at 8:16 pm

    jdg is really handsome!!!!!

  31. 32 bambi August 20, 2007 at 8:02 pm

Popseoul, your site is absolutely very entertaining !
Hope it (site) won’t bombed out if JDG’s fans worldwide read this “serviced” thingy !

Get ready PP . . . and be prepared!

  32. 33 liza September 1, 2007 at 10:32 am

Yeah! Im from the Philippines and im avid fan of JDG. I dont believe those negative publicity about him. SOURGRAPING! is the word. JDG is a great guy.

  33. 34 mia September 4, 2007 at 3:45 pm
