After Lee Teuk the Liar’s (24) lying incident, Mnet, the music cable channel is also in the hot seat. Some, especially the Elves* believe that producers of School of Rock encouraged Lee Teuk to lie.
Did Mnet force Lee Teuk to lie?
When asked directly about their the involvement in Lee Teuk’s cyworld lying incident, the producers firmly denied all claims, stating that they were also surprised to read about the incident the morning after the airing of the show. They also confirmed that there was no scripting of the show prior to filming.
Is Mnet telling the truth?
We can’t entirely trust their words because they are doing everything in their power to save face and they also have a history of pushing unethical programming. Their latest example being Kim Mi Ryu’s staged crying incident prior to the announcement of the 200 Pound Beauty Reality Show. So, it is possible that Mnet edited the show in a way to blow this up or they flat out asked Lee Teuk to lie.
What’s the verdict?
Mnet producers might have asked, but Lee Teuk had enough power to refuse because he has a huge fan-base and he’s managed by k-pop power house, SM.
Super Junior’s fan base
Super Junior is not some C-list group who has to please or beg producers to be on shows. In fact, the producers are probably begging these dance-party-on-the-go members to appear on their show to boost ratings. The sad reality is that Super Junior have a huge fan-base and they have more power than the producers. Didn’t you notice all MCs (Kang Ho Dong, You Jae Suck, Park Kyong Rim, etc) bending backwards for Super Junior members when they are on their shows? Now that speaks for itself.
SM’s power and authority in k-pop world
What would happen to Mnet if none of the SM singers appeared on their show? Do you think that producers can produce a music program without some of Korea’s top idol groups such as DBSK, BoA, TSZX the Grace and Super Junior? Of course not!
The argument that Mnet forced Lee Teuk to lie is nonsense. They might have asked him to spice things up (or lie) to boost the ratings, but they couldn’t force him since Lee Teuk had enough power and support on his side to refuse. So in the end, it was his choice. And in the end, he did lie. Hence, the new official name, Lee Teuk the liar.

How amusing that even with the proof in our faces some people choose to stay blind to the truth. Just because Leeteuk and other idol groups are loved by many people and certainly have enough power to sway and brainwash as many people as they want doesn’t mean they aren’t on leashes of their own. Do you really think any of these people would go against the desires of their companies, the people who practically own them, just because? Obviously nobody imagined it would get blown up like it has, so you cannot blame Leeteuk for doing as he was told, even if he could have refused. How do you know SM doesn’t force him to do these things? It’s not as though it would be difficult to replace him with another pretty boy. What people need to understand here is while the entire scenario is ridiculously stupid, planned or unplanned, people like Leeteuk are only puppets to the money sucking fiends that make up the music industry not only in Korea but around the world. At the end of the day this is his job. He makes a living from this. And quite frankly it’s not his problem if loads of stupid twats who call themselves fans blow things out of proportion. The people who should be in the hot seat here are those people. When I first started following this issue I thought it was Leeteuk’s fault and that he should have been punished for it accordingly. But if the people who hold his leash are telling him what to say and do then how is it entirely his fault? Are you seriously telling me that if you were in the same position you would risk possibly your job and status in order not to tell what would ordinarily be a simple lie? I don’t believe it. Not over such a trivial matter.

The issue, at least for me, isn’t so much the fact that he lied, but the way the elves are reacting to it. They treat SuJu as if the group came down on the tablets with moses and the 10 commandments while bashing American celebrities because they don’t frolic in daisy fields and sing songs of lollipops and gumdrops. I don’t think he got forced. He just made a little mistake that his fans blew way out of proportion. I think this site is really getting on my nerves. Celebrities are not perfect, they’re normal people! Leeteuk isn’t the only one who lied. Heck, there are millions of people that lie.
