Never mind that he doesn’t know how to speak English fluently and had to memorize his lines phonetically for Speed Racer. Never mind that his US concerts were dismal failures. And never mind that he has no idea how to manage his career, because his Hollywood movie is going to revive his career. Or that’s what the 24 year old singer Rain thinks.
As soon as he’s done with Speed Racer, he’s flying over to Korea to handle his management issues, aka announce that he created Rainy Entertainment and fly back to the states to work on his US debut album. So Rain’s grand plan is to release his album when Speed Racer hit the theaters and hope that US teens will be fascinated by his hod bod, dancing skills and small eyes.
What a great plan! It’s the perfect recipe for failure. Unless Rain is able to provide something original to the hackneyed pop world and can speak the language to freely communicate his thoughts, he’s going to have a hard time making it here in the states, regardless of his movie.
And the question remains, can Pinky take over the world without the Brain?

@ elisa
My response was to OMD remarks, and my opinion regarding RAIN is based on “a common person standard”, which is what a common decent person would do. Unlike your response where you “think” you know Rain and what happened.
What makes you the expert to know exactly what happened that day. You only know what you’ve read in the newspapers. And that information was directly released by RAIN’S people.
It’s called DAMAGE CONTROL….Protect the assest (RAIN) that makes the money and blame others.
In addition, your analogy of a refund to a person that made a shirt for Rain makes no sense. The point was that
“if you pay for a product (ticket) and you do not receive the services or items (concert) as promised you will get a refund”. In your analogy the person paid for a shirt and recieved a shirt. He got what he paid for. If the person intends to give it to RAIN, but RAIN does not show up. TOUCH LUCK. The person paid for a shirt, not for Rain.
Sorry but your reasoning sucks.
You are also an IDIOT to believe that RAIN has 40 mins in the film SPEED RACER. FILMING HAS NOT EVEN BEEN COMPLETED YET, NOR HAVE THEY HAD A FINAL EDIT OF THE FILM YET. NO BODY KNOWS HOW MUCH FILM TIME RAIN HAVE IN THE MOVIE, UNTIL THERE IS A FINAL CUT.
YOU and all RAIN supporter’s should be insulted by RAIN’S PUBLICITY AND MARKETING TEAM, they know how naive and innocent ALL OF YOU are, and release such nonsense to make you believe. THEY ARE INSULTING YOUR INTELLIGENCE.
But you ALL eat it up, and argue in support of RAIN like you know everything. You don’t realize that RAIN, and his PUBLICITY and MARKETING people are manipulating you with every PRESS RELEASE.
COM’ON EVERYONE WAKE AND SMELL THE COFFEE! I LIKED RAIN, BUT I HATE HOW, RAIN AND HIS PEOPLE ARE SO
“MANIPULATIVE”
Corrected spelling TOUGH LUCK not touch luck
His apology was made for a few people, it came out only because of indiscretion of some people.
From a member of rain-usa( found on youtube):
“Jay said three times no camera, video or audio. Promises were made and deliberately broken, unbelievable. I’m thinking maybe a search and wanding may be in order next fan meet if you can’t trust your own members who have no idea what is at stake here. This is just me venting and in no way reflects rain-usa’s opinion on this specific matter.”
So there was no official apology to all the people with tickets for the canceled LA concert!
Wow, I haven’t come in here for a few days and there’s a flood of comments.
Please don’t believe that he practises 10 hours a day now. Maybe he did when he first started out and when he was preparing for the 4th album and world tour. He pretty much got lazy after the Malaysia stop on 27 Jan 2007. That’s why you see him getting fatter and fatter at every gig after KL. LOL.
But he did slim down for the filming of Speed Racer though. Haha.
Rain has a problem with food
he loves to eat!
xD
but he can win or lose weight when he wants
I’m sorry for all the people who got ripped off with the concert money-handling.
Enough about the love/hate bashing on RAIN, so where’s the Se7en news?!?!
Is he actually gonna debut in the U.S. sometime this year?! I am seriously doubting it because I don’t hear anything REAL about it. It’s all “talk.”
Teaming up with Amerie for a song was nothing, because truthfully she isn’t that big in the U.S. either(only so-so).
I mean, trying for the U.S. is major for us Asians. Se7en/Rain need to put out something AWESOME (and not cheesy, copy-cattish). It’s kinda scary. Their debut is either gonna humiliate us or open a new door for the Asian Community.
Between Se7en and Rain, I thought Rain had a better chance because he’s more known/popular/appealing… but after this whole concert-fiasco–with all the “hating” I don’t know anymore.
After the fiasco Rain is more popular now…
but with more antifans
Whatever… Rain makes notice… good or bad
Comments about him have more people defending
or just against Rain.
And talking about take over the world
which are Se7en plans too?
Se7en is considered hot in Asia.
But in the U.S.? People are gonna think he’s gay or something…
He is NOT going to make his U.S. debut this year. He is NOT ready. Everybody knows he’s not ready. For people to notice and give him a chance, he needs a lot of the BIG stars to back him up and support him, like P. Diddy, Timberland, or Kanye West to say “hey America, check him out!”. NOT just L’il Jon or Fabolous. His songs need to be HOT.
Rain and Seven both will not make it. And, It does not matter who they will team up with in the States.
The only one’s who benefit from teaming up with Rain or Seven, are P Diddy, Amerie etc. Korean/Asia does know P Diddy and Amerie, but they gain deeper exposure and greater exceptance into to the Korean/Asian market. The black artists become even more Asian friendly. For the likes of P Diddy and Amerie, its a little investment, with small chance of success, but a grand payoff if for some reason it works out.
On the otherhand, (Korean Side) Rain’s people will maximize the publicity and marketing of Rain as becoming a world star. It was a great scheme and brillant marketing and hyping up RAIN. But unfortunately as we all witnessed RAIN was all just hype.
It’s all business in the end. I kind of feel sorry for RAIN, even though I have my negative comments. It’s like all the air has been let out of the tires, and there is no where to go now.
RAIN has a big task infront of him, I do not agree with his decisions and I do criticize him a lot, but I will be the first one to congratulate him, if he pulls out of this and does well.
OmD
“WHY DON’T YOU GROW UP AND MAKE SOMETHING OF YOURSELF AND STOP CRITICIZING SOMEONE …”
“YES HE CANCELLED HIS CONCERTS BUT QUIT BEING SELFISH AND UNDERSTAND HIM…HE HAD SOME DRAMA GOING ON”
Coming from a person who types in all caps, this means very little to me.
As for the “drama”, well, if he had so much “drama” going on, then maybe he shouldn’t have attempted to crack into the American market. Ever think that he created his own “drama”?
And, of course, I’m being selfish because I won’t forgive him. boo-hoo. That remark really hurts my feelings.
No. I don’t think so.
“IT MAKES ME ANGRY JUST TO READ ALL THESE RUDE COMMENTS THAT WERE POSTED HERE ABOUT A PERSON YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW ”
So how is it that you can back a person that YOU don’t even know 100%?
elisa
“and they expect an apology in english? first of all, what does it matter what language its in?”
Yes, I EXPECT an apology in English because his “mistakes” occurred on American soil. He wanted to break into the American market, then he should respect the people he tried to win over … own up and APOLOGIZE in the American language. English.
If he cancelled a concert in Japan, then I would EXPECT him to make an apology to his Japanese fans in Japanese. It’s all about respecting your fans. Even if you don’t know the language well, get a trusted source to translate your feelings and issue it.
By Rain not issuing an apology in English tells me VOLUMES of what he thinks of his American fans.
who cares?, i only know the things that i have to, he is a good singer , dancer and actor, let him be, what the hell with the critics?, he is a human being and have bad points too, let him try whatever he wants if he failed, he can star over. He is a very very very very complete artist, i wish to him the best of this world. PEACE (sorry for my english because my language is spanish).
Yeh, he should have at least said “I’m sorry” in English at the LA fan meeting. I mean, geez, if you are not going to use English then–surrounded by guaranteed supporters, who don’t care about your accent or whatever–when are you going to use it???
That he came to apologize was great. To hear his sincerity, even in Korean meant a lot. But when he left without say that one simple “I’m sorry” in English, I was really disappointed in him.
It wasn’t enough for me to give up on him, but I know it was for others and I do understand why.
Bi RAIN is a simple & humble human being. Some people envy his position as a popular singer and dancer not only in Korea but in Asia as well. Now, he is trying his luck in the United States by having a movie and concerts in Madison Square, Las Vegas & other parts of the US. Part of his dreams to support his family & be successful in life have been fulfilled. This was a promise made to his deceased mother.
Inspite of all his hardship in life, some people seem to bring him down. These people didn’t realize what life Rain had gone through from childhood to teen years. He worked hard at an early age for his family and did not enjoy his teen age life. Who among those people who made comments against Korean superstar RAIN can do what Rain have done to his family? I am positive that those who wrote against Rain is either a bum or an uneducated person. They have no ambition in life. These people must first look at themselves before criticizing anybody.
I am neither a fan of Rain nor any Korean artists but my role in life is to respect each other. To be respected, one must not critized a person whoever he is, either a high ranking official or a famous person. Saying bad things to a person will definitely bounce back to them. This is what we called “Karma”.
Rain must not be disappointed with all the unfavorable comments of these people. CHEER UP AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORKS.
“Now, he is trying his luck in the United States by having a movie and concerts in Madison Square, Las Vegas & other parts of the US.”
There were no concerts in Madison Square, Hawaii, Atlanta, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Toronto this year. They all has been canceled or postponed.
He is simple. Simple-minded but he ain’t humble. Maybe he was when he first started out. Not anymore. Just check out clips from 2005 and 2007 and compare. The smile/body language is totally different.
If he wants respect, he must first respect his fans. Which is not what he’s doing.
Let’s see what happens to his USA dream. I’ve given up on Korean media cos they always exaggerate, praise him to the sky and make everything seem rosy when it isn’t.
No offense but English skills aren’t a total necessity in the US entertainment world…look at Sean Paul – he can’t speak English for his life and hell I can’t hear what they hell he’s saying in his songs but his songs are everywhere…it’s about language but about how the song is and how popular he is. If Rain really gets his big break through speed racer and his songs are good..people will follow…except for the racist ones of course.
I don’t think it has to do with race, I honestly only watch and listen to Asian media and many of my friends and others refuse to listen to it or watch it because they don’t understand it or they don’t like to read subbtittles which is ridiculous considering you read and walk, drive and talk everyday.
Even showing photos of so many Korean hotties I get the same negative response.
people are stupid they just are. Maybe he can make a difference.
1. I had to look up the flipping lyrics to “Man Up” to understand what Rain was saying.
2. The commercial for Korea just made me laugh.
3. @pete (even though this is a while ago): Though America is a multicultural melting pot, you forget that there is still a lot discrimination. How many times have you heard that African people are gangsta and Asian girls can’t drive? There’s tons of people with these and other stereotypes.
4. @Eve: English is a necessity. How are people supposed to understand the lyrics? How are they going to be TEMPTED to buy a non-speaking English artist’s CD when they DON’T understand them? If they use a representative, it just sets the fans farther apart from the artist. Having little contact with the artist, how do the fans know that he/she is real or authentic? Plus, Sean Paul CAN speak English. Only with a heavy accent.
reading this just shocked me:
from an oct. 1, 2007 article in taiwan’s Liberty Times, a big rain fan “Lu Man-wai” just opened up a rain-themed cafe for clouds to “gather”.
she invested the theme cafe, even after losing 50-plus million taiwan dollars from promoting rain’s concerts in taoyuan (time was tight, the equipment rain requested was $$.)
she ate her losses, esp. after hearing from rain via his manager: “the taiwan show was one of my best this year.”
now THAT’s devotion. why can’t the hawaiian promoter just be happy rain even gave them a chance?
The problem is that Rain doesn’t have anything to offer that US doesnt already have.
Whether it’s dancing or singing, there’s plenty other more talented artists here. Unless, he can come up with some unique packaging for him, his US career don’t look too promising for now.
http://www.asian-buzz.com
Just wait and see whatever Rain can offer….Stop nagging too much about US has or have, because Rain is Rain and he’s different from others.Everyone has something that can do, while others cant..So,we must not be judgemental…mental, tallll hehehe
This Guy has the determination to be in the US market whether you like it or not..because he got the valid visa to be in there..hahahaha
Why not be happy whatever his plans about his life and career. In case, of something happened, only his ownself can blame..
Rain, will always has the chance to shine, just in case nothing happened about his life in US…Let him be…that was his dream to try,and nothing to harm in trying but it should have the courage about the truth…
Wishing him all the best in the future…Aza Fighting!!!
you need to stop that hattin PEOPLEZZ
Im a fan of rains and I think
what he is thinking is bold
because I see no one trying to accompilsh
what his trying to do!
but of course he does need to work on his english’
becuase you cant come to america if you
dont speak english
em, y does popseoul hate rain so much????? is it because he’s so famous that it irritates you? haha that happens i love rain so much and i think he’s a genuine hardworking person but maybe popseoul does know him better which means he’s a really bad person huhu btw rain aza aza
i feel shame for those peoples who used be rain’s fans because the concert has been cancelled , then they don’t
support him anymore . i can understand you guys lost money
and mad with him (even though he’s one of the victim ).
are you guys necessary to say such bad comment to him or
laugh with other peoples here ? don’t forget , you did love
and support him before and don’t be too cruel to the one
you had loved before !
I LOVE BI RAIN HES SO HOTTT!!! JUST LOOK AT HIM!!!
i was utterly shocked that he left jyp… he wouldnt be here it if wasnt fo jyp… i think the pop star is getting a big head.. but hey.. if that’s wut makes his boat float… okay… may god be with his “hod bod and his button slit eyes”…but is hot…its juss his value as been decreasing lately fo me anyways… rock on dude…
i hate this site i can’t say another word
You have something against rain or what!!!
i hate can’t say another words you know what I mean f**** you
You know what I really love about those that are so critical of Rain:
First: They think JYP is some kind of “puppet-master” and Rain is the “puppet”.
Second: They give JYP all of the credit for Rain’s success.
Third: They blame Rain for all of the things that have been unsuccessful in his career ie., Rain’s cancelled concerts.
And Fourth: YOU CAN’T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS PEOPLE!
I read that the “puppet-master” JYP suggested the people producing the concerts. (But of course he only does things right…right?)
If JYP is so smart why have things gone wrong that he is connect to and if Rain is so dumb why do the many things that he is connected to such as getting his own part in “Speed Racer” and the new movie more important than anything JYP was connected to in his career?
Use your brains…think!…think!
failure is a mother of success just don’t fail too much though
there’s no way rain would make it here. he would just be a laughingstock. korean music and its entertainment itself is waay different from american entertainment. someone who can’t speak english would be easily made fun of here. it’s harsh, but that’s america. i don’t think rain can manage himself. he needs jyp… sadly. also, as far as i know, his role in “speed racer” isn’t even huge. i saw him for 1 second in the preview. it’s ridiculous.
Can Popseoul insult Rain without their brain?
my mom used to be a big fan of his. anyways whatever… rain’s not popular anymore… i mean what happened to him all the solo boys are taking over =[
Oppa…
I’ll always support U!!!
Fighting!
I just have two things to say…
One, many girls are attracted to those ’shrimp eyes’ enough to make them over-obsessive fan girls who dream of marrying him.
Two, there is HARDLY any originality in pop music nowdays…well ANY music come to think of it.
