Never mind that he doesn’t know how to speak English fluently and had to memorize his lines phonetically for Speed Racer. Never mind that his US concerts were dismal failures. And never mind that he has no idea how to manage his career, because his Hollywood movie is going to revive his career. Or that’s what the 24 year old singer Rain thinks.
As soon as he’s done with Speed Racer, he’s flying over to Korea to handle his management issues, aka announce that he created Rainy Entertainment and fly back to the states to work on his US debut album. So Rain’s grand plan is to release his album when Speed Racer hit the theaters and hope that US teens will be fascinated by his hod bod, dancing skills and small eyes.
What a great plan! It’s the perfect recipe for failure. Unless Rain is able to provide something original to the hackneyed pop world and can speak the language to freely communicate his thoughts, he’s going to have a hard time making it here in the states, regardless of his movie.
And the question remains, can Pinky take over the world without the Brain?

Uauuuu!! Rain is the most popular post!!! i only wants to be the comment number 100!!!
besos!
Man.. I missed the 100th position!
well.. I will try again.. for the 200th comment! lol
Yes.. he’s the most popular topic.. whether love him or hate him..
It’s very funny to see antis and fans’ replies on this blog..
Rain seriously need to pick a hell load of shit if he wants to make it in the US. He’s pretty much dug himself a DEEEEP hole rite now. Also i don;t think speed racer is going to help him for some reason. If Americans sees rain in the movie and his English is horrible, they are seriously not gonna take him seriously. Even if rain stayed with JYP i don’t think he’s gonna do too well. As ppl mentioned b4 JYP thinks he noes everything about the us market, but i doubt it. it seems like he’s making min in another generic teen singer, and frankly we already have enough. However depsite all this i’m pretty sure an Asian can make it in the US. There’s already some asians in the music industry. One of linkin park’s lead vocalist is half Japanese. Also there’s Chad Hugo of N*E*R*D, not to mention he’s a grammy winning producer.
Maybe Rain should have gone on the Colbert Report liek they asked him xP. He coulda gotten the Colbert Bump lol, cuz rite now he needs all the help he can get.
Kristine Sa: http://www.kristinesa.com/
Seriously: http://www.myspace.com/seriouslytheband
George Nozuka is doing well in Canada, wonder if he can make in the U.S.
What are some other underrated Asian-American artists?
“i think Americans racist to us Asians, thats why Rain is treated so badly in US.”
Wrong. Americans are racist against SILLY people. One thing Americans love without a doubt is cool people–whatever their race or gender, show us a cool person and we will flock to him/her. We don’t like silliness.
Rain should go back to JYP!
i can’t see why it’s a big deal for asian stars to make it to the US.
ok, more money, more fame.
but i seriously think hollywood is missing a lot without the asian entertainment.
meanwhile, we can be happy with what we have.
i got tired of the r&b and the bling blings of America so i switched to Asian where i find more sense in the music.
you know, Japan has a lot of talented artists. and they’re happy with their own market (bec. it’s a big one already). Johnny’s Ent has got such fabulous boy groups that any asian teen can think they are better off with the american teens. i mean, the JE talents can sing, dance, act altogether.
we have jay chou who’s r&b style makes a lot more sense and a lot more style than americans. and of course, a lot lot more.
but going back to rain, if he hasn’t taken over Asia yet, (his music doesn’t stand out, and it’s not like he’s the biggest seller here), he’s gonna have a hard time in the US.
Actually, I have to correct you about one thing. In the cartoon series, it was the BRAIN who wants to take over the world. Pinky just follows him and do whatever Brain tells him to.
*sigh* I support Rain as a fan. But I just hope he has something comming up that will save his career because right now he has turned his back on the Korean Music Industry. Only focusing on his American debut and well if he doenst save himself in America, he wont be as well known in Korea when he returns. But i will pray he will save himself. Oh yes. Please get Yang’s avice to Rain soon. Rain! Fighting!
I will be so embarassed for him if he fails in his attempt to “make it” in the U.S.
He seems like such a passionate, hard, decent guy – we cannot deny that he didn’t work extremely hard to make it this far.
What happened with his concerts wasn’t entirely his fault.
I’d hate to see him “crash & burn” in the U.S. Because that’s a BIG deal.
Right now I see Rain’s style like the late 1990s – when NSYNC & Backstreet Boys were BIG. NOW – it’s different, you know? He needs to get more modernized with U.S. style in music.
Even Justin Timberlake changed his style – compare his first album and then his second. He focuses more on a new, upbeat tempo rather than trying to show off good dance moves.
And I think what Rain is about is a lot of dancing – which the U.S. aren’t primarily interested in nowadays in musicians.
Maybe he needs to hook-up with producers like Justin Timberlake and Timberland. They’ve been big and popular lately…
But then again, I sometimes feel that I wouldn’t want him to be “big” in the U.S. because that fame might taint his image. Don’t get me wrong, I love living in the States, but I found it so refreshing to turn to Asian music cuz it was “cleaner” and a bit more innocent – like Bi Rain’s image.
I don’t wanna hear about who he’s dating and/or having sex with. Or if he went clubbing, did drugs/alcohol, blah, blah… stay in Asia Rain!
People who defend Rain as if he’s God crack me up. How many times will you be disappointed by this mis-managed, misguided individual before you give up on him? How much more money will you spend on his cancelled concerts, CDs, photographs, etc before you realize you were foolish??
Rain won’t make it in America. Why? Well .. we already know he can’t speak English, which means that he won’t have command of the nuances of the English language. So, when he sings, his English will sound contrived and ridiculous because he doesn’t understand.
Like at his concert in Las Vegas when he called the audience his “babies”! WTF?? I died laughing and it’s still a joke with me and friends to this day.
Is his US-produced CD going to be in English or Korean? If it’s in English, dang … who’s gonna buy it? And if in Korean … double dang … who’s gonna buy it? See what I’m getting at?
I think he might have a SLIM chance, but only IF everyone forgets about the money they lost on concert tickets. (Which were waaaay overpriced, at least here in Hawaii)
It’s hard for Asians to break into the music scene.
No matter what, there are many people who are gonna take us as “jokes,” “wannabes,” and “copy-catters” for wanting to be an Hip-Hop/R&B/Pop/Rock star.
Hey it took a while for the Latinos to break in, the Asians just need their time and a good chance. I just don’t know if it can be Rain or Se7en.
Latinos made it because their population grew immensely in the States, so they have a lot of “fans” to back up the Latin Artists through support. Then the Caucasians eventually warmed up to their type of music… I live in California – and the music I hear nowadays are greatly influenced by Latinos.
Aww. Now I feel sorry for the kid. The main problem here is that he doesn’t know what he is doing. JYP has babied him ever since he came out as an artist. He was seriously Rain’s brain. He talked for him, moved for him, everything. And all of a sudden Rain is shoved into the world of grown-ups, not knowing how to speak or move for himself. As much of an opportunist as JYP seems to be, Rain had more of a chance with him. The best thing he can do now is take a break and really think about his priorities. If he decides to go into the American music, then he needs to really sit down and work hard. If he wants to do movies instead then he needs to just focus on that. Personally, I’d rather have him just go back to kpop and his Asian fans who have all been so loyal to him… well most anyways. But whatever he chooses, it’d be best if he took a well-deserved vacation and just let things settle around him. Get a girlfriend (or a boy… whichever one he prefers). Start a business. Travel. Do whatever. Then maybe, in due time, people would’ve forgiven and forgotten all that happened this year and he’d be back on the track.
Also, a serving of humble pie wouldn’t hurt.
There is only one way RAIN can become a world mega star.
APPEAL TO THE GAY EURO/AMERICAN MEN. HERE ARE THE REASONS
1. INSTANT FAN BASE = ALL GAY MEN HAVE AN ASIAN FETISH. THEY WILL BE MORE LOYAL THAN HIS CURRENT FAN BASE.
2. GAY MEN WILL IMMEDIATELY LOVE HIS DANCING AND HIS PUMPING HIPS.
3. GAY MEN WILL FORGIVE RAIN’S MEDIOCRE SINGING TALENTS AS THEY ARE MEZMERIZED BY HIS TIGHT GAYISH BODY.
4. SINCE ALL GAY MEN HAVE MONEY, THEY CAN SUPPORT HIS EXPENSIVE CONCERTS. THIS WILL INSURE A WORLD TOUR WITHOUT CANCELATIONS!!
This is an instant recipe for RAIN’s INSTANT WORLD STARDOM … COM’ON RAIN DO THE DISCO!!!!!! sHAKE THAT BOOTY – GEORGE MICHAEL STYLE!!!
MAYBE RAIN & JYP CAN COME TOGETHER AND FORM THE SECOND COMMING OF WHAM KOREAN STYLE. get the yoke he he.
I agree with GeekGirl 100%.

They’re Pinky and The Brain
Yes, Pinky and The Brain
One is a genius
The other’s insane…ROFL!
Yes Rain is Asian…all this talk about Asian artists coming together w/ Asian fans backing them up…You got to realize that “Asians” don’t all speak the same language. If you want Asians to band together and support an Asian artist, you first got to have “Asian” fans speak one common language to better understand each other. In most cases, it will most likely be in English. Oops, my bad…Rain hasn’t accomplished that one yet, and also the same goes for Se7en.
I like the Pinky and the Brain reference too. I’m a fan of Rain, but I totally have no confidence in him making it big in the US. First of all, it would be smart to learn english. JYP keeps on saying how if he didn’t learn english, he would be nowhere, so I don’t understand how come he didn’t teach Rain when he made him.
The sign for infinity: ∞
Turn it sideways: 8
Rain still needs to do his military service…will all his current efforts in the US just be left hanging when he goes off radar for 2 years?
rain sucks
rain suck and he’ll never make it in the states because
1. hes not a world star
2. he left jyp
3. he cant speak english
4. his singing and dancing is just alright, not amazing
5. his role in spped racer in minor
i feel bad for all his dumbass fans that are obsessing over him and that are brainwashed
they need help
asmuch as i hate uggs spam, he’s right
It’s prety obvious–Rain is now officially Drizzle.
Rain Oppa. Hwaiting! Goodspeed and Amen, indeed.
Re: Ugg’s 5 Reasons:
1. No, he’s not a world star, but he is known throughout Asia, which is a a very large market. Having the confidence that comes from that will be a plus IF Rain wants to take on the US/Canada.
2. JYP is stuck in the 80s and he is creepy (and apossible pedophile–sorry, I just get a really bad vibe from him). I’m glad Rain moved on and hope he hooks up with a more up-to-date producer here in the states and comes out with stuff that will really showcase that voice I love so much.
3. He has been studying English, yet seems too uncertain of his ability to actually use it–even when it would have been really important, like apologizing for the huge screw-up with the US concerts. I understand–I would rather die than have to speak the languages I’ve studied, but it is time for Rain to buck up and start using the English he has learned. That’s the only way he become really fluent.
4. His music and dancing are definitely from the 80’s and 90’s. I love his voice–I fell for that voice before I had any clue who Rain was–so I think with more modern western style music choices, he could really be amazing. He is a good dancer, but it just doesn’t do anything for me…
5. Supposedly, he has 40 minutes of a 90-120 minute movie: that’s a third or more of Speed Racer that will have Rain in it. He’s not the star, but that’s not exactly a minor role.
Will he be successful in the US? Who knows. He already has much to be proud of. So, if he wants to try to break into the western market, why discourage him? What will it hurt?
I wish him luck, for him personally, but also because I like the Asian culture and hope that I’ll be able to find more of it in the US.
I admire Rain/Bi for taking such a huge risk. It’s hard to get into the American market, but some foreign artists have done it(i.e. Salma Hayek, who still has an accent). I wish him the best!
His pronouncation of English isn’t bad though? Unless he was practicing his ass off or something. I thought his English was very clear and understandable in his English version of “Tango”.
And what his real motives may be, I hope he does gain some sort of success here in the U.S.
His rendition of Sad Tango wasn’t bad – although I wonder how many takes it took for him to get it right. Kudos to him for that his attempt. I can’t say the same for his spoken English – it is squeaky at times and it grates on the ears (I last heard it in Bangkok in June 2007). Everytime I hear him speak – I just want to tell him to “shut up”. I feel embarrassed for him.
The problem with his USA plan is that he doesn’t seem to have any sort of back-up plan if he fails. He’s been tooting his own horn so much that if he doesn’t go, he’d look like a fool. I say he’s a bigger fool to go ahead with USA because this will destroy the Korean/Asian fanbase – since he will be effectively “missing in action” if he stays in the USA for one year.
yeah…the english thing does bug me too. although I don’t know how he pulled off a clean, accent-less performance in the song “Man Up” with Omarion. if he can clean up his english like that…maybe he’s got something.:)
I also think it’s interesting to watch the fluctuating positive and negative comments on popseoul’s posts. although the negative ones seem to rule now.
*sigh* let’s see where this goes. good luck rain
I’m a non-Asian American woman (not teenager) who thinks Rain is extremely sexy and attractive. He may have had to work very hard to be a dancer/singer (he says), but he is a born actor.
Did you know that they had to dub Mel Gibson’s voice for his first movie in America, because of his strong Aussie accent?
Nobody knows for sure how popular “Speed Racer” will be, but around the web on professional sites the buzz is that it is going to be good.
As for Rain being too confident about coming to America, I’d say you have to think you can do it or stay home and don’t waste your time trying. Rain has always used the power of positive thinking, because at first people kept telling him he couldn’t succeed as a singer/dancer because of his looks. Many times he has said that he may fail in the US, but for the sake of other performers from Asia he would like to try.
I was on the Plaza at the Staples Center in Los Angeles when it was announced just before Rain’s concert was to begin that it was cancelled. My husband and I had flown into LA the day before while we were traveling on our vacation, and flew out the next day. Since then I have heard a lot of what happened to cancel the concert which in no way was Rain’s fault.
Many of the negative remarks that have been expressed here about Rain have been through ignorance of facts, and if they have been made by Asians…shame on you for not being loyal to one of your own people. As for me who is not Asian, I hope to see Rain succeed, because he is talented and to me he is a “one-of-a-kind” performer.
Good luck Rain….I’m for you all the way!!
Sorry about the wrong address. Try this one.
I agree with Charlie. All the way.
Rain has been through quite a bit in the past few months, due to some mistakes his producers made. Despite that his concerts were cancelled because a dumb stage was deemed unsuitable by his PRODUCERS, I still want to see him in concert in the future.
He deserves more support from some of his fans than he’s been receiving.
However, I do understand that there may be some things that he did wrong along the way, but I don’t think that’s enough to make so many people go against him. If he’s Korean and you’re Korean, I think it’s a little sad that you (and by you, I mean some of the people on here in general. Not you PopSeoul) can’t even show the tiniest bit of support. He’s one of the first Asians to break the American barrier.
He may have gained some anti’s because of the whole ordeal that happened, but at least he’s trying.
And I don’t see what’s so bad about making his own entertainment company.
I really do hope he becomes successful in the future.
And for the English. There are SO many actors/actresses out there who are foreigners and STILL have an accent. He’s working on improving it, so give it some time. It’s not going to be perfect at the snap of a finger.
well again with those comments about Rain…
He´s learning english and he´s better now
just watch in youtube for example for his english.
Don´t ridiculize him for all that he does.
and JYP isn´t BRAIN
he´s just Rain´s mommy
he will make it to the usa!!
luv rain!!
u can do it!!
support u alwas…=)
I don’t blame him for the LA concert fiasco. Although I (like a lot of others) have not gotten my ticket refund, not to mention the $$ I spent flying all the way (I live in Asia) there.
I just think he’s totally misguided now – where his career plans are concerned. And there are lots of long-time fans who agree with me.
And, I’m not gonna ‘be loyal’ to him because he’s Asian. If I think he is being silly, I will say so.
My psychic said I was going to marry him. I guess this is why. I think I saw the tour of his aparments and there were pictures of himself all over. I said this guy is my type. Then he said dadum so cute.
And then his house was like organized choas like mine.
Im so in love. I will buy your cd, Rain, and we will fight the language barrier through LOVE!!!
LOVE IS UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE.
No really.
Two psychics told me I was. Since he’ll be in America it will be so easy.
Im sad he’ll be just another singer who attempted to open a record company like ALL THE OTHERS who failed. But who knows,he did win peoples most influential!
I agree with Amused. I’ve supported Rain and went to his Las Vegas concert back in December ‘06. However, I’m upset with the fiasco over his US concerts. I had tickets for concerts in Hawaii and L.A., and while I managed to get both tickets refunded, I’m still out on the cost of airfare, lodging, meals, etc.
I feel that he IS responsible for all this. Why put your career in the hands of people and not keep tabs on them? Rain is ultimately responsible for everything he is going through now.
And I’m not going to “excuse” him just because he cried and threw a fit when the L.A. concert was cancelled. There are two words that I highly believe in:
Personal Accountability.
’nuff sed.
I hope all you negative people are ready to eat your words, because he is going to make a great English Album and when he does he’s going to be successful in the US market. I do agree that he needs to think carefully before rushing into anything and he needs to fix all the problems from the cancelled concerts before he’ll be fully accepted in the US.
PS: I feel the hate in here. I guess that When you haters have hard times you like people saying terrible things about you huh?
We dont’ hate RAIN as a Person. But Everyone dislikes a person that talkS BIg then can’t back it up, or people who like to exaggerate more than what they are worth.
Everyone can identify with that, don’t tell me you never felt hate on people like that. Rain does not have a free pass just because he is a star/idol. He still has responsiblity like all of us.
So you should understand why there is hate for RAIN. RAIN has a tough job to get back it integrity, and he has not been doing a good job of doing so since the concert fiasco.
RAin has no one to blame but himself. Sorry no one stays at the top forever. What goes up eventually comes down. Sometimes harder than we like. That’s life.
I’m sure we all, including haters, would like to see RAIN succeed, but he converting more fans into haters by his own actions. Boy must own up.
WTG, Tamira!
People who back Rain up 100% no matter what he does have to think about why he has so many haters. If he’s everything that they think he is, then there would be very few people who don’t like him, right?
Rain brought all the hate on himself. I used to be a fan, but two cancelled concerts is all I’m allowing myself to be put through. Those cancelled concerts made it a personal thing for me, and it’s not hard to hate on someone who does that to his fans. He hasn’t even addressed us with an apology (in English), yet!
He really needs to get his act together. As it is now, he will not sell a bunch of CDs in America. Who’s gonna buy them? If I were a white American, would I want to listen to something an Asian guy with Michael Jackson as his idol puts out on the market? I don’t think so. I wouldn’t be able to stand the accent.
@ May
who is this “Min”? is she the girl who is training with lil’ jon? err..if she is, idk if she is good or not but working with lil’ jon might not be such a great idea…
in
im a fan of rain but i doubt he will make it in the U.S. i dont think the U.S. is ready for an asian singer. especially an asian singer who emulates american artists. i think rain will just be laughed at and called a “wannabe”.
the same goes for se7en and boa. well boa’s company said that she will not come to america, but will go to china…so thats good. i heard se7en might release an album somewhere in december? hmmm. i doubt he can make it if rain cant make it~just a thought.
Ah…so these are the anti-Rain people I have been hearing about for a lot of the time since I have been a fan!
I can understand the people who have lost money on concerts being bitter over their loss…that seems natural and expected, but what about all of you who HATE him for no apparent reason, but that he seems to boast about what he thinks he can do in the USA, and who must think he is kind of stupid because he can’t take care of everything himself in his career.
HATE seems a pretty strong word to use for those reasons. You must go around feeling HATE about a lot of things.
I thought about him apologizing more for the cancellation of the concerts…enough that I even wrote a letter to JYP’s company even before the LA one, and said I thought Rain should say something to the fans about it. I also said he should be friendlier to his fans when he encounters them such as in Las Vegas.
He has said it sometimes is a burden to him because his fans expect him to be perfect. He knows he has made some mistakes in the past, but he believes he has learned from them. He says he will now go slower and step by step go forward.
I’m afraid he may not have the luxury of making too many more mistakes when it comes to his concerts, but those of you who have liked him in the past may want to wait, and see what he may do in the future.
For those of you who HATE him, you will probably never be satisfied with what he does, so spend your time on LIKING other entertainers instead of trying to bury Rain!
i feel that it’s dumb to say that it IS his responsibility that the US concerts didn’t work out. because if you’ve to train and practise more than 10hrs a day and still keep tabs on what the hell is going on, what’s the point of hiring organizers anyway? anyway, he did try to find out what the heck was happening and all he was given was a vague reply.
IMO, if he had started to question the capabilities of the organizers, there would definitely be people who would take the stand and say oh isn’t this supposed to be teamwork so why isn’t Rain trusting them to do a good job? so either way, he gets slammed.
i mean every celeb has the fan club and the anti-fans- and i’m not against that. but here i see, a guy who’s obsessed with training so hard and really putting in lots of effort, determined to break it into the US market. that alone, deserves praise. he may have made some silly mistakes along the way(who doesn’t) and yea, he’s definitely still a growing artiste in one way or another.
i like this dude. but i think to really make it on his own one day would mean to have the media stop labelling/linking you with as Asia’s JT or Usher.
you go Rain.
@charlie have you not caught the nuances in the 2 posts by tamira & geekgirl, a couple posts directly above you? burying is when someone does by flying colors, and you active rain (oops) on their parade. the “haters” here are just reacting within normal reason, to a product/service that betrayed their expectation/trust/good will. the only one doing the burying is rain & his cohorts. you keep making it personal, but it’s customers reacting to a product/service that didn’t deliver. your idea of a reasonable fan reaction (forgive/forget no matter what) dictates that people have reasonable, non-obsessive reactions have to be unreasonable. that in itself is oppressive groupthink mentality: love rain 200% or there’s something wrong with you.
WOW! ALL OF YOU REALLY HAVE COMMENTS TOWARDS RAIN..I JUST FEEL THAT SOME OF YOU SHOULDN’T BE CRITICIZING HIM FOR HIS DECISION.
AND ABOUT HOW HE SUCKS AND THAT HE’S A FAKE, I DON’T SEE ANY ONE OF YOU HAVING A CAREER LIKE HIS…WHY CRITICIZE SOMEONE WHO JUST WANTS TO BE AND GROW…WHY DON’T YOU GROW UP AND MAKE SOMETHING OF YOURSELF AND STOP CRITICIZING SOMEONE ELSE..
MOST FAMOUS PEOPLE ARE ALL THE SAME..SO WHY EXPECT MORE OR LESS FROM RAIN…YES HE CANCELLED HIS CONCERTS BUT QUIT BEING SELFISH AND UNDERSTAND HIM…HE HAD SOME DRAMA GOING ON..
I JUST FEEL THAT MOST OF YOU WHO ARE BASHING RAIN ARE JUST NOT APPRECIATING HIM ENOUGH…SO WHAT IF YOU’RE NOT A FAN…YOU SHOULDN’T EVEN BE CRITICIZING ANYONE…WE’RE ALL HUMANS..
I JUST FEEL THAT EVERYONE SHOULD APPRECIATE HIM FOR HIS WORK WHETHER GOOD OR BAD…AND QUIT HATING ON HIM JUST BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T GET A GLIMPSE OF HIM AT THE CONCERT…
IT MAKES ME ANGRY JUST TO READ ALL THESE RUDE COMMENTS THAT WERE POSTED HERE ABOUT A PERSON YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW PERSONALLY…YOU DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT TO JUDGE HIM FOR WHAT HE WANTS FOR “HIS” LIFE…NOT YOURS…
EVERY DECISION IN LIFE IS A GAMBLE
@ OmD
Being famous does not mean you get a “Free Pass” for the mistakes you’ve made especially when you cheat people out of their hard earned money. I’m sure if someone stole from you or your family, you would not be that forgiving.
Those of us that criticize RAIN, judge RAIN as a regular person, which he is. Any deceit person would refund a customer if he did not provide the goods as promised. All businesses (ie Stores, Restaurants) refund purchases if the item was not as promised or if it was out of stock. What makes you think RAIN is different just because he is a STAR. (or just because you love him as an idol)
We don’t have to know RAIN, to know what a common deciet person with good values would do under those circumstances.
You and Rain supporters, like to admire and praise RAIN with one eye open, and the other eye shut.
You are right we are all humans, and we all make mistakes, BUT YOU FORGOT TO MENTION EVERY ONE MUST BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MISTAKES THEY MADE.
THERE ARE NO FREE PASSES JUST BECAUSE YOUR NAME IS RAIN.
“THERE ARE NO FREE PASSES JUST BECAUSE YOUR NAME IS RAIN.”
@Tamira,
True words spoken from you!!!!!!!!!!!
actually, at least for the staple center fiasco, everyone should have got refunded. for their tickets. of course, there are those who flew in from god knows where and spent ten million hours on their shirts, and such, who did not receive monetary reparations, but.. is rain really responsible for that? you love him, and so you make him a kickass shirt, but it is not his responsibility to give you back that $5 or whatever for your shirt. thats supposed to be from your heart. because youre a fan. getting disappointed in him for not performing is one thing, but accusing and blaming him for things he had no control over is another.
i find it hypocritical of tamira to say that we judge rain with one eye closed and one eye shut. i really hope you know what happened that day, because if you did you would sympathize, rather than bash on him. yes, rain made a mistake. but his mistake had nothing to do with his character or honesty. he simply hired the wrong people to do the job. it was his fault, but to accuse him to outrightly deceiving and cheating his fans is wrong. hes just an entertainer. there are many other people that were involved with the concert, not just him. people who were in charge of getting the stage set up. people who were in charge of the money. it was not his JOB to keep tabs on them. he is not the boss, he just receives the most publicity.
and as for his not owning up to his actions? i dont get it. most people here (its pretty long.. didnt read it all, but still.) seem to say that the only ones who will support him are his fangirls. those diehard fangirls. those diehard asian/mostly korean fangirls. and they expect an apology in english? first of all, what does it matter what language its in? his songs are in korean. he speaks korean, and is only learning english. if you “were” a fan, you should have known that for a fact. he expresses himself in korean. therefore, it is obvious that his apology is in korean. english will definitely be a problem for him, but since people are complaining about his weird english voice, then wouldnt they rather hear it in korean instead? after all, all you have to know is miahnhae. second, i think he HAS owned up to his actions. after the concert, on various youtube clips, on his fan site. im not sure why people are saying he didnt own up to his actions.
the responses from the anti-fans are almost as close-minded as the die hard fans. they are mostly assumptions based off biased opinions. minor role? 40 minutes is not a minor role. not a world star? sorry, hollywood is not the world. considering that there are a crapload of asians, hes probably 3/5 of a world star. and i dont believe that hes ever promoted himself as a world star. maybe as asia’s star. which is verifiable. i cant decide for others whether or not his dancing or singing is amazing. i, for one, prefer se7en’s style of music (actually, more of epik high). but even then, rain is not bubble gum asian pop. wanna hear bubble gum pop? go listen to h.o.t.’s candy. and rain’s dancing has evolved from pop and lock. if you look at his i’m coming video you would notice that his dancing incorporates more of asian martial art moves than anything. i dont really like his moves in that video (sad tango was much better), but hes a great performer if you watch his perfs.
i think you would be surprised at how far rain has gone with the variety in his fans. when i got to the staples center i thought that there would be a bunch of asian fangirls and maybe… just maybe… the occasional white girl. but there was actually a lot of guys. and a mob of african-americans. and some hispanic people too. rain apparently doesnt just appeal to asians.
of course, his body and his charisma will be the selling point. but hed better improve on his english soon, because thats whats going to keep him in the game.
