What is JYP doing to the Wondergirls? First it was the skimpy school uniforms and now this sexy 80s get-up? Why does he feel the need to sexualize EVERYTHING? Yeah, yeah sex sells, but making 15 year old girls dress up as hookers off the street is unacceptable.
These girls are still in transition mode as their newest but oldest member, Yoobin (19) joined after Hyun-ah’s departure. Yoobin was a JYP trainee for more than 2 years and her specialty is hip-hop. Although she’s now the oldest member, Sun Ye (18) will remain as the leader of the group, since she’s been there the longest.
Wondergirls’ first album “The Wonder Years” is already available online and their title song “Tell me” was produced by JYP.

Anyways they all look the same age to me. None of them look 15… But I always think people are in their 20s. Maybe cause Im in mine and look 16 still, I begin to consider everyone looking the same age. Some 32 year old teacher I thought was 17 and told everyone he looked too young to be a teacher. But here these girls all look in their 20s.

Why does it seem like Yoobin’s concept (her clothing) is so different from the others? She looks good though, I say lets welcome her. I wasn’t a huge fan of WonderGirls but I remember Hyun-Ah was one of the better looking. The leader reminds me of a cat, and the youngest (?) one with the bangs makes me want to take scissors and snip it all off.

May – I agree, I’m living in 15 years right now, and we’re basically dressing up like that. Though I don’t show so much skin because my oh-so-Asian parents would beat my ass, but I do dress really tightly, and I’ve seen worse than the WG girls.
But I do understand why people seem to like the more innocent looks sometimes, the ‘too sexy’ one gets old after a while. Not only that, but yeah, sexy is attractive, but innocent seems to be more stable and appealing at the end of the day. Sometimes sex appeal is to hide the fact that someone tracks true ability (in the entertainment business, talent), and innocence is for the ones that have the talent/ability so they don’t need to show ff.
I’m not saying that WG lacks anything, because I do think Sun Ye has a really idol-like voice, and Sun Mi has a really sexy Dambi-like voice.

But, they’re not actually all 15 years olds. They’ll eventually split up to be solo artisits anyway right? Girls bands are rarely as successful as boy bands.

ehh. what could u expect of jyp? all he ever does is copy american producers/artists. he’s not talented as a producer-he’s just a copycat. the only song that he produced is the most famous is “ways to avoid the sun”. and that song is not even that great. plus, if some other artist besides rain had sung it, it wouldn’t even have been a hit.

It’s not like the Wondergirls were any less scantily clad before, though. And at least they look older, and they have a real “look.” As opposed to actually sexualizing these girls in SCHOOL UNIFORM-inspired gear like before.
