There is no age barrier when it comes to Japanese ajummas. A recent survey by Oricon News revealed that DBSK’s die hard fans in Japan are not teenagers, but ajummas in their forties. The percentage of ajummas who heard DBSK’s single and intend to purchase the album exceed any other age group.
DBSK members were probably shivering as they read the news – and who wouldn’t at the thought becoming boy-toys for lonely ajummas who are old enough to be their moms! But in grand scheme of things, it really doesn’t matter who their fans are as long as their are raking in the yens.

Who cares? SM would even care less! They’re the one that can afford it, not teeny-weenies. For example, Japanese ahjummas were also the ones that paid Rain’s expensive concert VIP ticket for $600 at Tokyo Dome.

did the survey take into account stuff like… the older ladies have the money to buy the single. so even though, like, say thsk have tons of fans under the age of 25, those girls dont have an income and may not be able to buy the singles, ya?
maybe a survey saying “do you like thsk, yes or no.” would be more telling of their actual fans age groups?

Have you seen any Johnny’s concert clips? The majority of the audience are women in their 40s. This also goes for Hello!Project. Older male fans are the ones who spend money. So yeah, this isn’t shocking.
Younger fans might love them & find them cute but most don’t have money to buy countless albums, photobooks,etc. That’s were the oldies come in.lol

awww…ahjumma’s are very cute..i really find it kawaaii that they like dbsk, rain and other korean celebs..i agree that they have more buying powers than us teens that are broke most of the time and cant buy all their products.
anyways, i’m happy for dbsk coz they got the supports that they needed.i may not be able to buy all their albums and merchandises, but i’m sure gonna mention them to all my friends^^ they’re popular at my place but mostly to the chinese communities…

I’m in the demographic mentioned.. and have to say that I first saw them on Youtube singing First Noel and One.. and then Begin. I thought their voices were beautiful. Then saw them on variety shows/banjuns which were hilarious. The main reason I’m a fan is their hard work – their schedules are so demanding and you have to admire that, even if you don’t like their looks. Their individual hard work (learning languages, composing music etc.), teamwork, the ability for 5 to sound as 1 voice, their musical talents all are reasons I’m a fan – looks are last on the list because I’m not obsessing over them as boytoys or potential mates. I wish more American singers had the work ethics these 5 have, I’d support them too.
