Is it just me or does it seem like Rain is giving himself a wedgie? Despite this awkward hand position, the dancing machine actually looks decent in his latest CK Jean endorsement. I say he stop trying to use his brain and start using his hot bod to make a living, because after all, he’s the Pinky – not the Brain.

From XiaoXi:
“I did find the “40 minute” quote in a news article of the press conference held in Berlin back in June, but true enough, they were quoting a Rain spokesman “quoting” Joel Silver.”
It’s difficult to fathom how idiotic Rain and his handlers are! I guess it’s not enough that they have TWO lawsuits filed against them for FRAUD (the suit filed against them in Korea is a CRIMINAL suit) that they’re willing to risk a libel suit from Joel Silver, who is the executive producer (NOT the director) of Speed Racer. If the lawsuits go to trial next year, Rain and his scenes could be completely cut out from the movie.
I believe the quote referred to a comment Joel Silver made about what he had heard from the Wachowski Bros…Sorry, there wasn’t anything specific, that I could find. I have a hard time believing it is Rain’s best interest to be building up expectations about his role in the movie if there was a chance the final cut of it would not support their claims.
You certainly may be right about the legal outcomes Rain may face. But unless he lands in prison, I doubt it will derail “Speed Racer” or his part in it. Americans barely know what goes on in America, much less Korea. And since the US concert promoters did NO, nada, zilch promotion outside of the US Asian markets, I doubt most of the movie goers will have a clue about Rain until they get a look at him on the screen.
I have no inside knowledge, but I find it hard to believe Rain was criminally responsible for the defrauding of the local promoters. I CAN imagine some very shady goings-on with JYPE and StarM, and since Rain was/is in business with them, of course the mud splashes him as well.
But having seen with my own two peepers how disappointed Rain was to have the LA concert canceled out from under him, I have to believe he did NOT know what was going on between the Korean guys and the local promoters.
(My personal theory is that JYP took the opportunity to screw Rain over as punishment for not signing a new contract with his company…)
Of course, if we were talking about someone I felt had no talent and whom I hated with a passion, I’m sure I would be as negative as some here. But I’m on record as really liking his voice (if not all of his music selections; I’m not a big fan of the dance show stuff either) and think he has a charismatic presence, so, though I’m not a fan girl, I’m willing to wait and see what happens, and I do hope he is successful in the US.
But, hate on, if that’s what makes you happy.
It’s irrelevant as to whether Rain had any knowledge of the piss-poor ticket sales that led to all of his North American concerts being cancelled because he is a named defendant in the lawsuits, along with Star M and Revolution Entertainment (which apparently is a subsidiary of Star M). In addition, he and his father are shareholders of Star M stock, so there is an ownership relationship with Star M that cannot be ignored. He has TWO lawsuits filed against him — one in U.S. Federal Court, and the other in Korea’s criminal court. These are no small matter especially since the plaintiff is seriously considering upping the ante by bringing the U.S. charges into the criminal court as well.
It may not mean much to you but having one of the featured actors being on trial for FRAUD (especially if the U.S. trial takes place in criminal court because the charges may be escalated to racketeering) will seriously damage SPEED RACER since the original Japanese anime series, with a sizeable cult following in both U.S. and Japan, is striving for a family-friendly PG or G rating. The final outcome will largely depend on the timing of the trials, which in the U.S. could begin early next year.
Everything I’ve seen from Rain and Star M are fraudulent behavior borne from incompetence, ignorance, short-sightedness and stupidity so I don’t believe that they know HOW to behave in Rain’s best interest. Otherwise, why would they have insisted on holding the L.A. concert after cancelling Shanghai, Toronto, Honolulu, New York, San Francisco/Oakland, and Atlanta? L.A. is the home of the American film and music industries — even if they had never heard of Rain, the industry players certainly know him now as the clueless Korean guy that bailed out on his fans in L.A. and all of North America because they all read the article in the L.A. Times.
for people who dont like RAIN, you guys know a lot about him.. interest in him, heh??
anyway, im a bit lost… what is the Korea’s Criminal court about Rain??
I know about the Hawaii lawsuit (http://dockets.justia.com/docket/court-hidce/case_no-1:2007cv00342/case_id-74197/) and Toronto lawsuit (http://www.rainscoming.ca/), but I never heard about a lawsuit in Korea.
Thanks, taebin, for the info on the Toronto suit. I knew that the Toronto promoter was thinking about filing suit after their bankruptcy petition, but I was only paying attention to the litigation initiated by the promoter in Hawaii, who filed the two lawsuits in U.S. and Korea. The lawsuit in Korea was filed on July 6 and names Rain, StarM, Revolution Entertainment and JYP as co-defendants.
I could care less about Rain since I had never heard of him until he was cast in SPEED RACER. However, I do care a lot about the film’s development because I am a huge fan of the original anime series, which is why I keep myself updated with the latest information. Additionally, I was asked by a journalist friend to conduct some research into the lawsuits filed by the Hawaii promoter.
Although I am disgusted with the incompetence, stupidity, unprofessionalism, and criminally fraudulent behavior from Rain and his handlers, it’s really the bullying and smearing from Rain’s rabid fans that have really turned me off.
Interesting take on the lawsuits possibly affecting the movie.
What are the chances that Rain would appeal to the media when the hearings are scheduled and try to portray himself as an innocent victim? He’ll have all the fangirls believing him, but there’s one thing to remember …
Rain is an ACTOR.
And from what nearly everyone is proclaiming … a very good actor ….
“My personal theory is that JYP took the opportunity to screw Rain over as punishment for not signing a new contract with his company..”
No WAy!! You really think so? I am so scared of JYP.
May: Yes I really believe JYP would do something like that. I really, REALLY do not like him.
LMFAO wedgie.. right..
rain is still good…but not as good… i mean, i cried, along with half a million fangirls, over “Full House” and stuff, and i totally thought his comeback was good, but he’s getting old.
