SM Entertainment is going to spread its wings yet again, by producing a film starring 3 of its current ‘museum of stars’. Bets on BoA getting a starring role are high, considering how she talked about dabbling in acting. The Dong Bang boys may also be riding on the wave from their popularity out of drama-wannabe Vacation to garner some of their members a shot.
At the press conference in Pusan on the 8th, it was announced that the 3 as-yet-unknown artists would be taking part in a TV adaptation of Japanese manga artist, Soda Masahito’s Dance! Subaru. It’s a story about a ballerina and her tribulations before reaching her dreams of becoming a real dancer. As to why they have chosen a Japanese comic over Korea’s own manhwas is beyond me. And I’m not certain this is the right way to go, seeing how SuJu made a flop out of theirs.
But regardless of SM’s past poor performance, it would be interesting to see fans reaction once SM releases the leads of the movie. Will there be another blood shed or will the fans be supportive all the way?

there was talk about how she was going to be casted for the role of Shin Che Gyung in Goong, but the PD said no and gave the role to Yoon Eun Hye, which obviously was the best choice..
but regarding SM’s re-attempt at breaking through the acting industry with their “singing” stars is beyond me..
i agree. SM should know by now not to make any more movies. ALL 0F THE M0VIES SM made beforewere bad and just basically fan service. either the plot was not sufficent or well planned out or the plot has already been done. even with H.O.T., their movie flopped. what makes sm think this one will succeed?

As of who the possible co-stars could be if it IS BoA (which it most likely will be since she is the most fluent in Japanese for the SM stars, followed by DBSK), I really hope the already DBSK fangirls who hate BoA for the simple fact that she works/sinsgs/and hangs out with them don’t attack her just because she’ll be working with DBSK. I’ve seen her act in that short segment as the sassy girl in a Korean drama, she did good. She has acted as a voice actress before in Asian dubs of Over the Hedge, and they were good. But an anime? About dancing? I understand if it were about singing…

I really think SM should STOP it with the attempts to succeed in terms of film and movies. They’re just using their popular artists’ fame and popularity to try and gain some money off of helpless fangirls. Really, SMers who star in SM produced movies (and just really can’t act and/or sing for their lives) are just really trying to flop their careers or something.
Anyway, I just hope Dong Bang isn’t included in this (although Micky isn’t a bad actor to be honest).
I thought BoA did some cameo in a drama way back then. She was kind of bad at it, the acting. Eh, I liked her Listen to My Heart days but it was short-lived.

Sounds pretty interesting, so I am definitely looking forward to the release. Although I have no clue who will be in it, I don’t really mind who stars in it because there is hardly anyone dislike (except for one singer, but she’s new, so I highly doubt she will be in it). It will make sense if the ballerina role is played by Stephanie, but we will never know. The banjun dramas are good, but Attack of the Pin Up Boys were boring and the plot wasn’t good at all (I still love the boys though!). Hopefully this will not disappoint the fans!

They probably choose a Japanese manga because it’s longer standing with a larger fan base and it’s probably better considering the background of the artist. It’s not like this is a first time thing with Korea taking Japanese manga and remaking it into something. Not a big deal.
Anyway, Kathy, it’s pretty clear that it’s going to be Korean language and not Japanese. Like the ‘I Am Sam’ drama is an adaptation of a Japanese manga but in Korean language. Same thing, i’m sure.
And any opinion, good or bad, on Boa’s acting 5 years ago is pretty pointless…because it was 5 years ago. I don’t think she needs to waste her time but it’s hard to doubt that she could at least become a decent actress considering her work ethic. She hasn’t really given me a reason to doubt anything she wants to do.
The best actor in the world is a singer.. but he’s from Hong Kong… Well, now that Im thinking about it, he may not be the BEST actor but damn damn close.
