Introducing Min & G-Soul

“White people have Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera. Black people have Beyonce and Usher. And who do Asians have? No one. We need to break into the US market and tonight, I have two artists that will do just that.”- JYPark

JYP Entertainment presented Min and G-soul, two upcoming artists debuting in America, at Club LQ last night in the Big Apple. I attended the hyped up event to see what the fuss was all truly about.

When the clock struck 12:30, the Asian Soul himself graced us with his presence. He preached like a preacher yelling that it was our time to shine musically. A couple of “Amens” were hailed, everyone screamed, cameras went off, and JYP felt like the man.

Cutie Min rocked tight black bottoms, and a black belly top. Lil Jon’s protege sang her new single, “Boyfriend”, which drops next month and I found my little bootie shaking to the beat of her song. For those of you who have never been acquainted with the gal, I should just warn you that her dancing skills are up there with Usher and Chris Brown. Yes, she’s that damn good.

R Kelly has stepped in with JY to debut G-Soul, the little man with the big voice. In person, he is much shorter and smaller but I don’t think any of the females minded when he opened his little mouth and sang. Heaven’s fair and God truly blessed the shortie with some lungs.

Overall, the performances were A’s in my book. Hopefully now we can show the US that were more than small eyed smart asses. Min, G-soul…FIGHTING!

    Popseoul=kiss ass!<3

    I personally think Min will make it. Her look, style, & dancing will make her successful. Her singing is very average, but i think people would be interested in her just because she’s Asian & can dance.

    isn’t that video of “Go Ahead” really old?

    A lot of people have said that they don’t think Min and G-Soul and J Lim will make it. But I think with the right publicity, they can make it. I mean, look at the people they’re collaborating with. and R.Kelly showed up, which is a pretty big deal. I think Min has the best chance out of all of them. Her english is good, she can dance, she can sing, and she’s really quite pretty.

    good luck! :)

    To Both :
    1. If you haven’t met JYP but you have a chance to be with a korean producer, who will it be? SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, DSP Entertainment, etc.

    2. Do you have a korean singer that you want to meet? why?

    Sorry to say this but neither of them are really that good. The boyfriend song is OK. It is not even catchy and it just seems like that she keeps repeating the same line over and over again. Her dance was ok reminds of Cierra when she first debuted. As for the guy sorry but no comment he is just plain.

    JYP should study how SHAKIRA was able to penetrate the US market and eventually the whole world. SHAKIRA makes her own music and introduced it to the US. Emilio Estefan helped her produced her crossover album which eventually made herself sensational for her belly dancing which only she can do. so far SHAKIRA is the first female latin singer who really made it big in the pop music world in the US.
    the music of this singer is appealing but then we don’t know how would the response of the americans to her. there was the phenomenal RBD from Mexico who became widely popular in latin america and europe and among teens in the hispanic community of the US. Dianne Warren wrote for them their first single album and all majority of them can speak english well. although their music is very popular among the hispanics, it didn’t sell in the US Market.

    i totally agree with you cattleya. i have been saying the same thing for years. although shakira was a rock singer before she came to america she stay true to her roots. she released songs that were completely in spainish as well as mixed with english. she put her culture in her music and she was respected for that. as long as asian singers try to be white when doing pop or be black when doing hip hop instead of being them they will fell. there is nothing wrong with the korean culture. it is beautiful they should embrace it. look at the way korean songs infuse english is it really that far of a stretch to infuse korean into an english song? i would gladly write some songs for free for any of the jyp artist if it really is that difficult. i will just pray and pray hope that hikaru utada has learned from her last english album and will put her own money in for some publicity because americans dont know how to promote an asian artist (like its that hard. you do it the same way you do everyone else put up pictures, take them to radio shows and let them the late night circuit interviews). i truly believe that if she cant make it no one can because she has the total package as a singer, songwriter, composer and producer. how many of the korean singers suppositely debuting in us this year can do that. she will get mad respect just based on all that she is able to do and it that wasnt enough she was and born and raised in america, is very intelligent, is quite geeky which should get all of the american anime/manga fans on her side. all we fans can do is wait for the fall since most are debuting this spring/summer and see what happens. worst case scenario we have to wait three-four years for rain to capture hollywood’s heart in movies before he releases his english album. plan c pray for seven
