Jang Woo Hyuk finally enlists

10.25 jang woo hyuk

Awesome dancer and ex-H.O.T member, Jang Woo Hyuk is going back to the army to fulfill his mandatory military duties on November 15th. Jang enlisted last April but was released after four days due to medical reasons. But don’t worry fans, as expected, Jang will be stationed to a desk, where he’ll be learn all the keyboard shortcuts of Hangeul (Korean Word) while others are busting their ass to protect the country.

kim jong gook is desk bound?
    but why?
he may as well use all those muscles to protect the country!

  6. 6 lazybum October 25, 2007 at 7:24 pm

*snort* it amuses me to no end that they can all bust those moves on stage, but when it comes to military training, they’re all calling on ‘medical reason’. although i’m not for compulsory drafting, that’s still dodge!!

  7. 7 RoflMyWaffle October 25, 2007 at 7:55 pm

    ^ Darn right.

    Lmfao desk job.

  8. 8 kitty October 25, 2007 at 8:17 pm

No offense – without the people on duty in the offices and on ground patrol..no way those people in the troops are going to be organized, the army isn’t just about being in the open ground fighting…most wars aren’t even fought that way. And seriously – the Korean army…who are they fighting anyways? they just train. It’s not like there’s a war – and I don’t understand why people don’t get that celebrities have physical problems just as much as any other person…the government obviously doesn’t cater to celebrities so they put him there for a reason. Get over it.

  10. 11 zor? October 25, 2007 at 9:04 pm

his medical reasons where real unlike some

he had a bad jaw condition since young
and it started to lock up badly or somthing

  11. 12 Seola October 25, 2007 at 9:06 pm

hey thats not a bad job i know other people would probably do it too

  12. 13 val October 25, 2007 at 9:17 pm

seriously im glad he’s doing a desk job. his jaw is really messed up, at least being in the army wouldn’t aggravate his condition.

  13. 14 dwilliams October 25, 2007 at 9:19 pm

Pop Seoul dont be so hard on the guy everybody doesnt need to be on the front line as everbody isnt suitable for that. YOu have to be real strong and courageous to do that and that is why when joining the elite forces of the ROK such as the Marine Corps they prefer you have boxing, or taekwondo skills and you definitely need to be of a special calibur to join.

  14. 15 polynasian October 25, 2007 at 9:27 pm

    good luck

  15. 16 infiniti512 October 25, 2007 at 11:21 pm

Doesn’t he have an injury that even caused him to stop performing? I think it’s noble that he reinlists, if only for a desk job. Someone has to do it. Would you feel better if he was the army chef?!

  16. 17 jyyjc October 26, 2007 at 12:16 am

    awww…i’m going to miss him.

  17. 18 Eun. October 26, 2007 at 1:08 am

  18. 19 Teuki~Chunsa Jini October 26, 2007 at 2:00 am

really? in the army you can just do desk work…sorry I don’t know this.

  19. 20 valski October 26, 2007 at 2:28 am

jang woo hyuk i’m going to miss him!
i’m sure he’ll be good and all in the army.
desk job…hmm, maybe he can catch up on popseoul gossip and visit the soompi forum while his supervisors are not looking.
    juuust kidding.
i wonder what he’ll look like with a buzz cut.
    he’s such a stud.
    jwh hwaiting!

wish him all the best during his military service period.

I don’t get why people are all uptight and critical about some celebs doing civil service jobs. The ones doing civil service (‘desk’) jobs really do have a lingering medical condition. The Korean military office had them checked up before their enlistment so it is valid and approved. This isn’t a special treatment for celebs…I have friends who worked desk jobs during their military service due to medical reasons as well.

Kim Jong Kook has a lumbar (back spine) disk problem. He injured it during his Turbo days. He had it rechecked by the military hospital before he entered military service.
Jang Woo Hyuk had always have the jaw problem for the longest time. He’s had surgeries on it but it is till a problem for him. He had it checked by the military as well.

  21. 22 akon October 26, 2007 at 4:36 am

yup. we need those office people.

  22. 23 Jen October 26, 2007 at 5:11 am

    I’m gonna miss him!!

  23. 24 Amy October 26, 2007 at 5:15 am

I’m glad he decided to go back and fulfill his duty. Contrary to what most think, being in the army isn’t all about running around in camo and wheeling around huge tanks; desks jobs are important as well. I’ll miss him! He better not let that bod go flabby though. (XD I kid, I kid!)

  24. 25 Elaine October 26, 2007 at 5:40 am

    I’ll miss you, man. xP

  25. 26 Zheed October 26, 2007 at 5:42 am

Stop complaining, it’s not like women have to do these jobs :\

  26. 27 Primus October 26, 2007 at 7:49 am

Desk jobs are important jobs. Give me a break. Maybe for a the celebrity guy fairys. Next one to get a desk job will be the biggest fairy of them all “Rain”. These guys should get a real job in the military instead of hiding behind of a desk.

  27. 28 Mizaki October 26, 2007 at 9:23 am

    Protect..? From what?

QUICK! I NEED A SINGER/DANCER/ACTOR TO PICK UP A GUN AND FIGGHT.. ..NOBODY!!! COME ON! I KNOW YOU’RE IN A GROUP. WHO GIVES? GUN TIEM. NAO.

  28. 29 sjjws October 26, 2007 at 11:48 am

    damn took him long enough.
didn’t he try to get out it before so it got delayed?
i don’t know my respect for him just went down because of that

  29. 30 saralyna October 26, 2007 at 1:26 pm

aww. bye bye..oppa im gonna miss…..hee jun oppa is back and he has to go bye bye….im gonna miss him…..why are u guys hating on him, i noe in korea they must serve two years but the thing is that no one wants to go especially if they are entertainers.. anyhow im gonna miss him soooooo much….sarang hae, opppa!!!!!!! it doesnt matter if he’s gonna sit at a desk or not gosh, at least he aint gonna get hurt and die….at least hes serving his time and getting it over with it….lol

  30. 31 renny October 26, 2007 at 2:53 pm

ahh give the man a break~ his jaw condition hasnt been very good from the beginning.. i’ve watched him dancing on some of the videos and sometimes he clenches his jaw (even dislocated it while practicing).. must b painful! and u know he has always been quite a competitor in shows like x-man and love letter – the man is strong!! so i don’t see how he would really want to avoid doing his army duties… anyways JWH oppa~ hwaiting!!! support u always!!!

  31. 32 uhuh October 26, 2007 at 3:05 pm

sry…but isnt he too old to go to the army?
well….maybe not! But imma miss him!

  32. 33 Min A October 27, 2007 at 7:00 am

that’s good…i guess. i mean, we’re not hearing much from him anyway…so it’ll be like he’s here, but not really. the only thing i wish is that HE WON’T TURNOUT LIKE MOON HEE JUN!!!!! i know he won’t let that happen to himself. support jang woo hyuk!!! he’s my favorite H.O.T-er after Kangta…

btw, isn’t kangta enlisting soon as well? maybe he and jang woo hyuk should meet up and perform some oldies for the soldiers…maybe tony should go too. did lee jae won go yet?

  33. 34 Mut October 28, 2007 at 3:22 am

Actually desk job is considered important (and rumoured to have better payment) because we can train people to be buff, but if their brain can’t operate the computer system and clean up all the mess there, well, let said, it’ll be very, very messy.

I have friend whose friend is specially recruited to do desk job in military coz he’s awesome at computer and IT and such thing. (with big payment of course)

Even if Woo Hyuk isn’t a buff or a brainer, I still respect him to go to military and complete his duty unlike some people who will try to take advantage of their medical problem to ditch military completely.

  34. 35 Dbe October 28, 2007 at 3:27 pm

Min A let’s get this straight Hee Jun did nothing wrong, he was sick too and thats why looked the way he did but gratefully he’s better now (i think?), so please stop talking things about him and he went willingly to the army when they deemed him ready to.

Hyukie OPPA LOVE You, take care while you’re in the army and come back to us in good health and make great music again. He’s my second fav, after Junie Oppa.

  35. 36 YManchun November 1, 2007 at 8:34 pm

“And seriously – the Korean army…who are they fighting anyways? they just train. It’s not like there’s a war”

    We BORDER North Korea.

  36. 37 lightmeupxx January 7, 2008 at 10:47 am

Why are people being so hard on him?
He actually does have a medical reason: jaw problems since he was young. Its actually sad, that he had to go to the ER 10 times in one year a while ago.
I will miss him and I hope he comes back healthy and even stronger. Haha.

  37. 38 ruby February 12, 2008 at 7:06 pm

    hi jang woo huyk

  38. 39 MyMai March 22, 2008 at 8:56 pm

How many of you guys are “busting their ass to protect the country”? I’m willing to bet the author of this article isnt. Personally i think theres more to pointing a gun and pulling the trigger. The author may think otherwise…

  39. 40 no one August 22, 2008 at 1:24 am

    I Love You So Much
    …………….

  40. 41 lili August 22, 2008 at 1:25 am

  41. 42 mellofish October 28, 2008 at 1:47 pm

When is he gonna be release from his duty in the ARMY?

cos I really like him from watching this SHOW .. THE LOVE LETTER… the guy is very strong… and he got a great dancing skill…

  42. 43 mellofish October 28, 2008 at 1:51 pm

Question about JWH? when some of you mention that he had a health condition and something about his jaw…

What exactly is his health condition can some one give me a link please…..

    Thanks,
    Pat

  43. 44 rk October 31, 2008 at 4:06 pm

    yeah…he’s an awesome dancer.

  44. 45 mellofish November 22, 2008 at 9:29 pm

I read from somewhere that Jang Woo Hyuk, will be in for the army Duty for like 24 months (2 years) so if he gone into the army in October 2007, is that means he gonna be release from his duty in Oct 2009…

By then there will be lots of Younger Artist, that he have to beat… to be as big as before!!! And HIP-HOP now is much stronger than what its use to be in 2007 –> Like Big Bang for example!

  45. 46 icebluecandy March 16, 2009 at 5:57 pm

Auwww. He enlisted. COME BACK SOON, Hyukie~ Be healthy and I hope your jaw won’t cause you a lot of discomfort. 힘내~ Even if he’s behind a desk, I think he’ll still have a good body once he leaves the army. JANG WOO HYUK, HWAITING~!

And people, stop being so mean to Hyukie! At least he still went, despite his condition. Just because he’s not doing any physical activities doesn’t mean he’s doing nothing!

I hope he stays healthy and strong. 잘하세요, 장우혁 오빠! 파이팅~!
