Super Junior on Star King

1020-suju2.jpg

Yes, I know that this is old news, but after receiving dozens of requests to cover Super Junior on Star King, I felt like I owed it to the Elves who secretly visit POPSEOUL! despite our unfavorable opinion towards their idol.

Obviously Super Junior can’t compete with Charice. The R&B princess from Philippines has the charisma, the vocal talent and the personality to move the audience, while Super Junior is just a dance party on the go. However, it was great to see Kyu Hyun receiving the spotlight he truly deserves, but Lee Teuk the leader’s reaction to the duet was too sensitive for my taste. But then again, it’s my fault for expecting these flower boys to act like normal heterosexual men. My apologies.

I think charisse is great at singing, and i agree she’s just one of the great singers in the philippines. About the plastic surgery think, if she likes, she could do it, nothing wrong with that. And about koreans being good looking? yeah they look pretty good and are quite talented also otherwise their soaps wouldn’t be that popular and about that breaking into the AMERICAN SCENE,I think she’s already done that and yeah looking great might get you somewhere but you’ll need talent to go with that if you want to stay famous a little longer. And filipinos do value beauty it’s just that they go for spanish beauties being once colonized by spaniards. I think charisse can make it, shqe’s already one step there………

the duet between Kyunhyun and charice is amazing!!!

usually when 2 people are doing a duet, i find that most of the time they try to out sing each other and that totally ruins the song because it ends up as a shouting match or a how long can YOU hold onto a note match.

but Kyuhyun and charice’s duet is as good as it is because they compliment each other and they’re not trying to upstage anyone. Kyuhyun forgot his words at one point and charice covered for him

He still isn’t 100% well or healed from the accident. His lungs probably suffered the most since his ribs broke and collapsed onto it and so singing, especially breathing control, probably didn’t help a lot. but he pulled it off and it was fantastic!

This song is so fitting for Super Junior, Him and this moment.

I think the scariest thing about the accident is that if everyone else in the car was unconcious and no one saw the accident, he would have died.

    I like reading comments here…
Happy to know that Koreans also appreciate somebody’s talent from the Philippines. Yeah, Filipino’s are good English speakers, but I can’t understand
somebody saying that she sound’s iffy singing in English… for your info she guested on an American talk show Ellen DeGeneres and they gave her standing ovation for her performance not to mention that she can be a match with America’s got talent winner Bianca Ryan. She’s not dynamic? I love her gestures and facial expression while singing, wanna see her dancing too? Well, wait and see hh.. Yeah, Charice is not Philippine R&B Princess. It’s Kyla and I love her songs”Love will lead you back” and “Somewhere down the road” Better check it out on you tube.. You’d love it too… Proud to be a Pinoy!

    To AnonymousWhiteChick:
I’m working in a Korean company here in the Philippines and got to be friends with some Koreans in here. I tried to comment saying, “Korean stars are pretty.” He said, “Really? But only the stars… Most Filipino women are more beautiful and sexy” and i say, “really?” I did not give another comment because i haven’t been to Korea.

If you’re a white chick and you only see some Koreans, probably the ones on T.V. who really looks good then you don’t have much knowledge about the things that you are comparing.
My source is someone who is from Korea and have stayed in the Philippines.
I have nothing against Koreans, i like them. But i hate those who are tactless and just keeps saying things without much knowledge about their ideas.
Now look who’s talking? Tell that to yourself, don’t you think you’re the one who should make a research first?

  12. 12 anne January 25, 2008 at 8:44 pm

I can’t understand why Koreans try to criticize
Filipino talents, We don’t do that to them, we even patronize their dramas and admire their celebrities without any destructive criticism.
I think WhiteChick really needs to do research.
Korean dramas are sold in a very low price not to mention that they let they drama’s dubbed in foreign language unlike that of Indian’s which are more expensive and they wouldn’t allow their drama’s be dubbed in foreign language. You think you got more benefits by selling your dramas? It’s a lot more beneficial to us because Philippine TV networks can save much by buying your cheap dramas… One more thing, I heard a lot from KOreans that they themselves don’t like their dramas that much because it’s not new to them, like, they know ending already, stories are almost the same. It must be the reason why this dramas are sold in a very low prize to other countries so it would at least get profit. This is not according to me but according to Koreans. I don’t know why Koreans have this kind of mentality. “Crab mentality”

It’s Korean celberities’ prerogative to do plastic surgery but you can’t blame us if we still choose natural beauty over fake.

About mixed-blooded Filipinos, it’s not Filipinas’ fault if foreigners would love them and marry them and eventually have a half western half filipino baby… Oh!! How Korean women wish to have a western husband…. I’m sure of what I’m saying… Korean women are dying to have a foreign husband….
As a conclusion I guess half half beauty is still better than plastic surgery as what other Koreans say “There’s a lot or robots in my country.”

  13. 13 u_chill January 25, 2008 at 9:53 pm

    anne,
    i think Koreans don’t criticize Filipino’s. Don’t generalize it.
On what i’ve noticed it’s just anonymouswhitechick who has something against Filipinos and she clearly stated that she is a white chick not Korean, right?

  14. 14 anne January 25, 2008 at 11:11 pm

Yeah, I guess I should have been more careful and
more specific with my statements. I shouldn’t have said it as if I’m pertaining to all Koreans…
my apology.. but I made a thorough review of comments here and I can say it’s not only white chick who did the negative comment.. I guess I’ve been defensive but it’s a natural reaction.

  15. 15 Jenelyn January 30, 2008 at 3:17 pm

What really makes me angry is when someone makes negative comments about someone looks. Charice Pempengco is still young woman let her grow into her looks, because you never know what ahead in the future. She could be drop dead pretty when she becomes full adult. The other thing that really kills me is that some people are also making negative comment about her voice. Did everyone forgot that she hasn’t have professional training in that area. Her mother taught her. So if her Clive Davis meeting went well she will get her professional training from somebody who knows voice. She a undiscovered talent that can go into the Asia ,US, or even international market. So no more comments on looks because I will remind you of these quote “Beauty is in the eye beholder”

Also to the negative comments of Super Junior. After watching that video, that made me want to know more about them music wise. I don’t know about these E.L.F fans whatever they are called but if they are acting like crazy stalker fans and putting negative comment about random people. Those are not true fans of the group.

No more Korean vs. Filipino when regarding about entertainment industry because they are their to entertain us right.

I know everyone has their own comment but come on we need to be kind human beings to make this world better place , because this is how war start.

To the whitegirl whoever you are your comment was really racist to let you know and that I feel someone should kick you in the butt for that comment. Regarding about the Asian or Pacific Islander thing. “What does that have to do with anything of this forum”

So everyone let be supportive of Charice Pempengco and Super Junior in their careers okay.

    So Peace out. ;p

  20. 20 weiyu February 27, 2008 at 7:01 pm

i admit she has a good voice, but…..she acts like a 40 yr old black woman! she reminds me of whoopi goldberg at times!

girl, you are 15, act ur age, and stop trying to walk around with your head shaking, side to side, indian-style.

i like listening to her voice, but seeing her on stage, especially her interview, makes me crack up!

  23. 23 lm September 26, 2008 at 4:31 pm

LOL.. some of the comments in here make me laugh… quite entertaining actually xD and yeah Beauty is subjective. There are good looking or not so good looking people in this planet of ours called earth… whether one is in korea, philippines, japan, US, Germany.. etc Someone already mentioned this but I agree to that, ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’

  24. 24 Ella October 4, 2008 at 4:52 am

Charice is really talented singer and Filipinos should be proud of her. She has gone so far. After challenging on Star king and bringing the house down, she was noticed by a lot of big names in the music scene. Some are David Foster, Alicia Keys, Bocelli, Josh Groban, Celine Dion etc. and was even guested on Oprah for a lot of times.

  25. 25 Ella October 4, 2008 at 4:53 am

She even sings with Celine Dion on her concert last Sept. 15, 2008 on the Madison Square Garden…I’m proud of her. and Filipinos should be proud of her

    to AnonymousWhiteChick

Charice is a great singer… i admit SOME of korean singers are good. but most of them would not meet the high notes or have flat tone… Don’t get me wrong i like korean artist some of them i love to watch in youtube…

but come on!!! Koreans are Koreans and Filipinos are Filipinos we are made in different ways that is why we are called in different names.

  28. 28 ravien28 September 29, 2009 at 2:13 am

filipinos should be proud of her… and thanks for Star King (a show in korea) for inviting charice in their show. she gain more popularity… and i think koreans love her… if not she will not be invited for the second time in a same show…

    more Power Charice…
