Popdiva, Lee Hyori stars in a new CF for the new Tucson SUV by Hyundai Motors. She has definitely downgraded from her Vidal Sasson CF where she was driving a gorgeous convertible Audi TT. No wonder the girl is wearing sunglasses in the CF! She doesn’t want to be seen in the light of day! That’s understandable. But what I don’t understand is how the babble is related to selling the car.
Now, let’s analyze the underlying meaning of the script
(1) She is jealous of those who are prettier and younger than her.
Of course she is- the girl is getting older and younger more fresh-faced girls are right at her worn-down heels. This reveals her insecure side.
But
(2) She insists that looks aren’t everything
B.S. since Lee Hyori is ALL about the superficial with her sexy image based on scantily-clad outfits. Even the sunglasses confirm the superficial image. If she meant what she said, she should have shown her eyes.
(3) she is attracted to down-to-earth traits like honesty, freedom, and confidence
Perhaps this is why she is still single? The traits that she is looking for is difficult, if not impossible to find in the entertainment industry.
But then,
(4) calls out to all the pretty people to follow her.
She just contradicted herself. So what does she mean then? Follow her where into the SUV? Follow her superficial sexy look? Follow her to buy this bland looking SUV?
Ms. Hyori ends the shot with the lamest jump-for-joy in the history of CFs! I don’t think she even left the ground. She should have some more enthusiasm for the car she is trying to sell. I think a better sell would be if she had driven the car in this bikini and said “follow me” in a sexy steamy way.
Trying to be too cute ain’t working. She needs to get her sexy back.

We also call it “bad acting” and “bad directing”. I blame the director on the choppy “confession” style dialouge and editing, and for making her look stupid with that jump. I blame Hyori for just being herself.
