Mr. Rain decided to board the plane all by himself this Friday. According to J.Tune, Rain’s new entertainment company, the shrimp eyed star feels confident enough to meet and negotiate with Hollywood producers and directors without the help of his managers and translators.
The Korean media is congratulating Rain on his newly found English skills, but we know better. This “world star” can’t even order room service properly. I’m not sure what he’s trying to prove, but what’s the point of meeting up with producers all by himself? There’s certainly nothing wrong with meeting Hollywood producers with his managers. In fact, it’s actually idiotic to represent oneself in the entertainment industry. Is Rain going to LA alone to follow in JYP’s footsteps? Or is Rain really that fluent in English and wants to show off?

3) He wants to negotiate to be cast in gay movie roles (complete with a gay love scene, a la ‘Brokeback Muntain’, he hopes) and doesn’t want his handlers trying to talk him out of it.

But who’s to say you need good english to be an entertainer in America? You can be goofy like jackie chan, a fighter like Jet li, or eye candy like Zhang Zi Yi. I think rain is a great artist. Some of the things he does are a little strange it seems, but i dun thinks he has lost his marbles. The fact that Rain doesn’t belong to JYP’s entertainment company any longer doesn’t imply that JYP is reluctant to help him out when help is desperately needed to him. In that sense, trying to do most of the things all by himself looks good to me and at least he should find his way out to escape JYP’s shadow in order to be a world star. Good luck on his way.

I discovered the Korean wave (and Rain) just a few months ago. Though not Korean myself, I was happy to learn that an Asian is trying to get in the US market. I am not a huge fun of Rain but I am proud as an Asian living in LA to know that an Asian artist has the guts to dream about Hollywood. Shouldn’t we Asians unite to support him (or any other Asian artist, for that matter)? If not support him , at least try not to ridicule him for his dream and determination? Do you guys at Popseoul have anything personally against him? All I read here are negative comments about him. Come on, let us be positive for once! Rain. Alone. On a plane. To a foreign country? Hmm…something smells very familiar…
He’ll arrive at the airport with no one to greet him. He searches frantically for the person whom he was told would be greeting him at LAX to take him over to the hotel but that person is nowhere to be found.
After an hour of pondering what to do, he decides to cab it over the hotel only to find out that his reservations have not been made. He’s confused and unable to communicate with the hotel clerk to clarify the details. Flustered, he surveys the lobby for an approachable person to help him.
Suddenly a young woman approaches the front desk. She converses in perfect English with the concierge. Rain watches, envious and somewhat attracted. He slowly steps towards her, takes in a deep breath and says in his best English possible: Hello.
She turns, stares for a minute, nods and continues to complete her reservations.
Disappointed, Rain sighs and just as he’s about to walk away, he feels a tug. She smiles at him, takes his hand and walks him back to the front desk. Rain is surprised by his willingness to be guided by a total stranger but also relieved. They walk up hand and hand. The front desk seems like miles away as he clinches onto her hand like a five year old. This is the first time he’s ever let anyone hold his hands besides friends and family. He’s captivated by the sense of comfort and sensuality of her touch as if they’ve been lovers for years. He steals a quick glance at her. She catches him and assures him with a shiny smile.
A little embarrassed he smiles back. Finally they approached the front desk. She turns towards him, swinging their locked hands and happily announces: Hello, My name is Dumpling.

And anyway, I have complemented Drizzle numerous times. Even when others criticize his looks, I defend him. I have also said I think he is a wonderful actor and if he stuck to acting I would actually like him more and would probably try to see all of his works. I’m actually in the middle of ‘Full House’ right now and I thought he was brilliant in ‘Cyborg’. I see him as two different people–this guy “Rain” is the one I make fun of.

OMG, you are SO NICE. I am blushing. Thank you for that, it was kind. Well, I almost once was going to do it, when PopSeoul did a shout out a while back. But I didn’t go through with it becuase I felt (and still feel) that I don’t know quite enough about Korean pop/celeb culture and I don’t even live in Korea or speak Korean. There are a handful of people (celebs) I love and adore, but outside of that the truth is, although I love Korean movies, I don’t know who a lot of people are (like a lot who are posted about here) and I don’t listen to K-pop AT ALL, so being unfamiliar with Korean music is like being ignorant of at least 50% of Korean pop culture. It’s definitely something I would love to do if I felt qualified. I wouldn’t be quite so mean as I am in comments, though.

If Dumpling wrote for this blog, it would be quite fitting, as Popseoul is very tabloid-like and suited for superficial and shallow entertainment. I don’t see why Dumpling shouldn’t work for something around the lines of Popseoul. These wild and bizarre stories sell when people are on coffee break. And the comments are the most interesting thing to read, and Dumpling would generate a heck of a lot.
BUT Dumpling isn’t very candid to the different responses and opinions. She’s hella vicious to “stupid people.”

I’m not anti nor pro Popseoul. I like it for entertainment. What is there to have against Popseoul? What is there to have against other people? What is there to have against Dumpling? Nothing really. Dumpling’s comments just made me want to defend Rain because she called him a “m*****f*****” and said he isn’t entitled (as a “foreigner”) to citing discimination as a reason for his failure.
