Super Junior boys are putting their Freaks R Us days behind them and are pursuing a more calmer image with their new ballad, “Marry U.” I’m sure that the Elves will melt as soon as they hear their oppas murmur the word “marry,” but can Super Junior, who desperately lack vocal talents, pull of a ballad song?

Super Junior’s “Marry U” promotion will officially start on November 8th on Mnet’s M Countdown.

Oh finally the SJ boys look like a boy not the aliens(in their lastest album)
by the way….who’s the guy on the very top icon of popseoul web page?!?!
HE’S FREAKING HOT!!!!!!!!
i think the song is pretty good and i think they could hit it off
didnt listen to the song yet but its got positive feedback
–
kibum’s face really bothers me in the pic*
I really don’t consider this song a ballad, but some slow/mid-tempo dance song. I’m sure the promotion performances will have some choreography.
OMG, this video was one of the most boring acts I’ve ever seen. HeeChul looks REALLY bored, haha.
dang…
SuJu always confused me…
can their management reduce their member …..
too many of them…
the “marry me” song is actually not that bad…btw, that’s such an odd picture of suju…
of course
Sure they can because they have K.R.Y. K.R.Y. makes SuJu look (sound) good.
hankyung!! _<
They’ve done good ballads before. I think their vocals are better in this song because they don’t have to do much dancing and jumping around. Since they have many members, the song has a choir-y feel. I actually like this song. =)
They’re not going to lipsync a ballad, are they? The song is pretty bad.
Was that performance lipsynced? I can’t tell. I mean.. ballad.. lipsyncing.. UGHHHH
They finally realise that Halloween is over…
Their promotion is smack right on my birthday
too many boyssss.
=________=
divide them into 3 groups already.
dangggg.
I like the song..would love to see them sing live for that song..but the ELF would think it’s a song for them..-O-
Of Corse they can nothing is impossible for Super Junior.
nothing spectacular about it.. just one of their ways to attract more fans and ELFs but I appreciate their effort for singing in a different genre than their typical bubblegum pop songs.. *pats their backs*
Ahahaha, they lack vocal talents but are that damn popular in Korea? XD Surely, out of the entire bunch, some must have some sort of vocal talent, no?
the song sounds great ecpecially kyuhyun’s, ryeowook’s, and yesung’s lines…
their voices really stand out…
sana mas mahaba yung oras na pinapakita yung mukha ni kyuhyun…
because the song doesn’t require dancing…
@ EDDIE_IZ, yeah i noticed that since last year [the first time i've heard of SJ], sungmin sing as good as KRY, but majority just thinks of him as a ‘pretty’ boy =\
hm; i like the songs. the models.. are really models.. so tall… or..
even if they’re models.. it is so sad to see SUJU a head shorter than the girls…lmao murmur “marry”.
That’s how bad they are at singing? they haven’t even made a ballad song? No freaking wonder why I don’t like them.
I don’t think all of the members participated in this song, only some…=( But this is my second fave song from their new album! FIGHTING SUJU!!!
omg! this is one of my fave songs off the dont don album. i love the song but i’m not sure all of them can pull this off…i guess we’ll have to wait and see…
The song: great. A bit cheesy, but it’s a nice tune that easily gets stuck in my head.
The look: great. For some of the members…
…but Kangin. Babe. The shaved head isn’t working. Not for Don’t Don, and especially not for Marry U. I miss your hair. Grow it back.
Song is pretty good, with a lil hip-hop beat to it. I would really label it as a ballad though.
sorry not “would”, “wouldn’t” label it as a ballad.
super junior???they have a good song!!!and they all are cuties boy!!!!
Hell Yeah!!!
Expecially Kyuhyun!!!
he has an incredible voice!!
“Desperately lacking vocal talent”? lol ok. exaggeration much?
honestly, i don’t understand the people who say sj is sooo bad at singing. i mean..just listen to the song. >> yeah, there aren’t amazing, flashy, groundbreaking vocal gymnastics, but these boys can definitely hold a tune. maybe there’s like three or four with mediocre voices, but in a group of 13 i don’t think that’s TOO bad. they have like 4 outstanding singers, which is as much as the avg boy group anyway. :/ at least their vocal skills are actually existent, unlike japan’s terrible johnnys groups.
anyway the song is great. ^^ cheesy in a cute way. XD suju hwaiting~!
oo…. nice. i think they can. after all, they did the popstar image (1st album), mature like image (U), and the rock image (Don’t Don)… maybe a ballad. i think they can
i like this song but it sounds sooooo similar to one of Sha Bao Liang’s ballads
i think this question is kinda weird cause most of their songs are ballads anyways….i mean so is dbsk…their title songs are always sorta hardcore dancey type and the rest are ballad.
arg…people are so prejudice againist boy bands…just because they’re classified as a “boy band” people assume they have no talent.
Of course they pulled it oof FYI!
Seen their performance. They sang live and did really well!
psh.. whether they “pull it off” or not, SuJu needs to go jump off a bridge. and bring down all their elf fans.
Of Course Super Junior can pull it off. Wut the hell does POPSEOUL mean by Super Junior’s lack vocal…that’s a bit ride. I’ve seen Super Junior sing Live…they’re good trust me.”Desperately lacking vocal talent”? lol ok. exaggeration much? I so agree
it good..
not bad if they singing lyke dat as live n not recording one..
With their new edgy sound and overwhelming stage presents Super Junior is unarguably the best commercial appealing group from Korea thus far.
Their representing company however has made obvious moves to make them into a global entertainment product ie. The sub group in China.
However there are several reasons why caution should be taken when holding on to the end of the Dragon’s tail of favorability when it comes to the appeal to current fans in Asia and whether this can possibly transfer to the U.S. With the availability of the internet, media, and spaces such as you Tube the group has obviously reaped the benefits of visual global exposure. From this the most obvious benefit familiarity of their dispositions and characters.
With that being said here are some reasons by SJ would find it difficult for any appeal in the U.S.
First America has gone through the ‘Boy Band Revolution’ making the era now a laughable episode in American entertainment. Currently, the Backs Street Boys have released a single that is reflecting dismal response. More recently, there was a boy band called “Sure Shot” compiled of ex boy band members who have talent but no flair, even with a Grammy winning producer and hard nose manager the band got thumbs down by all the record labels in New York. This came also with high supportive hits from their MY SPACE pages and documentary show on VH1 “making of a Man band”.
Second the band is too big, if you don’t know what to expect you would think they should be at a cheerleading squad competition with all the hand gestures and large arm motions.
Lastly, I don’t think Americans would warm up to some of the band member’s visual appearances. They are to pretty in a feminine way. That alone would be a down fall. Men entertainers outside of cross dressers are generally very masculine looking in the US. Punk rock is generally more solid without the embellishments and jewelry. Music that is harder than Punk would go under heavy medal or Goth both of which have a very distinctive sound and appearance. Some of the guys in SJ are just trying to hard. Also the members of SJ are very emotional, U.S. male entertainers never kiss, hug, or cry affectionately at one another in the media. Although as human beings we can know these emotions exist, but outwardly showing them in public is a big cultural no no in the U.S. These emotions reflect weakness in masculinity.
Be careful management of SJ coming to the US and not getting an overwhelming response can spread like wildfire in the entertainment industry. A good indication of appeal would be a review by a reporter from the magazine ‘Rolling Stone”. If the reviewing editor is in the condition of “You can’t be really serious” stay it advisable to appeal to the fans in Malaysia.
One thing can’t be denied is SJ passion and hard work for their craft. Like one ban member expressed, they are built on a concept and public appeal is really the key of it all. I think they all deserve the chance to show their willingness to be the best entertainers to come out of Korea. Heck I even bought a CD and I barely understand what they are saying.
I like this song marry u….^^
this song so good..!!!!
soo.. how are they gona show off ALL their musical talent. the group is massive…
Of couse they can.. they did! The song is sweet…and they are really cute! I didnt hear KiBum rap or anything.. Donghae, Kyuhyun, EunHyuk, and Sungmin looked REALLY gud in the mv though! Kyuhyun got aLot -o camera!
i love marry you!! its such a great song.. and i hate how popseoul calls them “Freaks R Us”… thats soo stupid.. btw.. a lot of them have great voices.. have you never heard them sing live????!!! get your facts straight please!!
<3 SUNG MIN & KYUHYUN & EETEUK!!!!
Ryeowook good singer…
Kibum whats wrong with his hair???! I dont like Kibums new hairstyle..
“desperately lack vocal talents”? No they absolutely do NOT lack vocal talent! They have Yesung, Kyuhyun, Reowook and so many others! Super Junior is made out of mixture of talents. So what if some of them aren’t the best singers out of the group? It’s not like they can’t sing for life. Super Junior has people with great vocalists and dancers. Many of them can do both.
“Freaks R Us?” That’s a very dumb thing to say about them. What’s so freaky about them? Nothing is wrong with Super Junior!
Super Junior can sing live very well while dancing. And DUH, they can pull off a ballad song. They just did, and did so in the past.
uhm hello? they arent “Freaks R us”.
They ARE talented in their own aspects.
besides they look good either ways. a lot of guys would die to look as good as super junior. so stop posting rude things about them.
The three/four boys with a decent voice is Kyuhyun, ryeowook, yesung, and Sungmin has a nice voice. Sadly no one notices Yesung lol cuz he’s not cute or funny or anything for that matter…lol…they have nothing on DBSK…they can’t sing, I’ve never heard super junior sing live…seriously…they always lip sync…ALWAYS…and the one or two times they actually sing…it sucks…
Is this like, a SuJu anti-fan site, sort of?
I personally love Super Junior..
I wouldn’t totally classify Marry U as a ballad, actually.
But I do like the song.
And K.R.Y is great as usual.
Sungmin also has quite a good voice
(listen to his backing nonverbal/background accompaniment in Twins)
I think SuJu has vocal talent.
Um, Super Junior has already done ballads, and in my opinion, I think they sounded fantastic. Especially the one on the Winter 2006 SM Town CD.
@ Tuhina – If you look around, there’s tons of biased Anti-Super Junior articles. D: It’s pretty sad, but true.
I agree, I wouldn’t call Marry U a ballad either, and actually, i’m not really sure what i’d classify it, but I loved the song.
…ugh i personally think that “Thank You”, “she’s gone” and “Hate U, Love U” are soooooooooooooooooo much better than “marry U” but yes they definately can pull of ballads there are i think 4 on the album that ballads. of all the ballads on the album i think marry u was the worst
OKAY 1, U CANT SING SO SHUT UP ABOUT THE VOCAL THING
2, IF THE SO CALLED “ELVES” REALLY ARE “TRUE” FANS THEN THE BAD BOY LOOKS WHICH BY THE WAY WAS WAY HOTTER THEN THEIR PRETTY BOY LOOK, WOULDN;T HAVE MATTER
3, WHAT “F” IS WRONG WITH SUB BANDS HUH, FREAKEN SO CALLED “ELVES” IF I WAS YA I WOULD BE A SHAME TO CALL MYSELF A SUJU FAN.
4, STOP BASHING ON SUJU LIKE THEIR NOTHING.
5, U GUYS R SOOO D-I-S-R-S-P-E-C-T-F-U-L!!!!!!!
The posts are pretty boring and negative, this web should get some better news to put on, not just give us a picture and ask us if we think they can pull off a ballad. Half the things you guys write is about what you think and sarcastic little comments. There is too much useless chitchat write some good stuff next time okay? I am commenting just to let you know and put on some more interesting stuff.
