Beyonce has landed

20071108beyonce6

Poor Beyonce! The pop diva had to hold a heavy lump of mics for her press conference today. Where was her crew? Perhaps 1 of the 80 or so crew members and friends could have given the bootylicious singer a hand.

Beyonce will perform “The Beyonce Experience Live in Seoul 2007” for 2 nights at Chamsil Stadium (November 9th & 10th, 2007). Tickets start at 80,000won (plus tax). I don’t think the concert is sold out. You can contact ticket@b4hent.com (English) for more ticket information.

If you can’t make it to the concert, you might be able to catch a glimpse of Beyonce at the ultra-modern W Hotel on Walker Hill. FYI, the suite she is staying in runs at 10,000 USD a night. This is same room that Christina Aguilera stayed in when she was here in October.

Check out the pics (and the hotel room)

Hotel room is ugly, and her scalp hair looks like knapp. Well, she is wearing a wig I think, but her outfit is great. I have just never thought beyonce was all that pretty.. .seen alot better looking black Americans in my life.

Man it’s the racist comments I read here sometimes that make me afraid to visit Korea. Nevertheless, you cannot judge a whole country based on a few ignorant and terribly misguided individuals. It’s 2007 you would think we’d all be over this by now.

omg yay! beyonce! i love her music! i hope she takes korea by the storm! <3

I like her style here so simple and down to earth. She’s rocking those jeans. She’s a wonderful performer. People who hate others they don’t know or have never met are just plain ignorant. If you don’t enjoy being discriminated against please don’t do it to others. I’m sure that those going to the concert will enjoy it.~~~ Peace

Beyonce was the one who DBSK wished to duet most!

You guys know DBSK fanbase. If there was any serious negative consideration about the race, DBSK would not have made it public.

There are lots of Koreans who like her music. She has a huge phone deal with Samsung because she is highly marketable.

Do people really think Koreans are so ignorant about other races? Maybe in 1970s S. Korea it may have been true but most young Koreans are very educated and cosmopolitan these days. They’re not all stupid enough to base their judgements on irrational thought processes. Please give Koreans the benefit of the doubt.

amen to that Rayne…although i’m not a fan of hers but i really do appreciate her music…i like her voice too..

to the left, to the left…. ”,)

  12. 12 Mac November 10, 2007 at 12:10 pm

Wow, im glad the discussion ended with Disay’s sweet comment. Or else id prob go and hide somewhere.Im black (from london) and love korean culture and soon i want to visit and meet the people, i always feel wary of going cos i think that im going to be faced with a lot of predjudice, but i keep reminding myself that everyone is an individual.

To get back to the point which is bey. One her wig does look terrible-im a HUGE Bey fan (sometimes a stan) but i gotta admit she doesnt look her best here, also yes she has put on like 5 pounds, shes getting back her original size before she dropped all that weight for dreamgirls. Ah well we obviously arent ready for all her ‘jelly’ lol.

Another factor in the show not being sold out is that her tickets are too damn expensive. Over here they were, in the US they were and everywhere else. Yes i wanna experience Bey to the fullest, but i aint paying through my nose to do it. I’ll just have the dvd thanks.

Mac, first of all, you shouldn’t be wary about coming to visit Korea because of your color. That would be a ridiculous reason ! Seoul is lots of fun and the people (in general) are helpful and polite…

I was completely and utterly shocked to see this conversation being held just because Beyonce was in Korea.
Personally, I am a fan of beyonce, Korean music and I study asian history, but I am surprised to see how racist some of these comments are. I want to travel and study in Korea in the future, but if I am going to be treated like garbage, Im straight on that. I am a African/Native American/Caucasian/Asian mix, yet I come from a predominantly African American background and neighborhood. Just seeing the comments made bad memories for me to be resurrected. I am what the black community calls a “lite-brite”: I have very fair skin, light brown hair and eyes, and (ironically) I have strong Asian features. Most of my life, I was disliked and hated by Blacks b/c of my skin tone and my light conplexion, I was favored by other races (esp Asians) b/c of my skin AND the way I looked, and the rest of the population just looked at me strangely b/c they couldnt put me into 1 specific category of “RACE”. Despite all of this, I am still an African American woman and I say that I am, no matter what ethnicity I can “pass” for. Just seeing statements like “All Koreans dont like black people” and the like made me feel sick. I believe what the others have stated, that Blacks are not hated in Korea, yet in is so apparent and true that prejudice and racism is alive in Korea (the same goes for every nation on this planet). The whole “lite skinned-dark skinned” topic makes me cringe…and to see it come up HERE is shocking. And that 1 comment (Im not naming ANY names)…made me want to scream. So what if she is black? Isnt she talented? AND she is getting paid for WHAT SHE DOES, NOT HER SKIN TONE OR HER ETHNICITY.

i love beyonce, she is lovely and very talented, even though her hair is a weave lol. hope she did well in korea!

Thanks Popseoul, thats was nice of you, as you dont know how much actually visiting Seoul and Korea in general means to me. Might sound like a real fangirl right now, but it would be so amazing to be in the birth country as my fav singers BoA or Big Mama (i say birth cos BoA is such a busy body, she’ll prob be in Shanghai somewhere making another album-u get what i mean). But thankyou, your comment was greatly appreciated.

and Mixed&Proud i really felt what you said. Esp when u said it made you feel sick, cos thats how i felt. My heart dropped into my stomach and I was like noooo, not her not on Popseoul too. Ah well you get trolls everywhere. Who cares cos the bad outweighs the good. Let those racist trolls go and annoy some other message boards or whatever, we wont entertain them.

  17. 17 Mixed&Proud November 11, 2007 at 5:32 am

    Mac thank u

Its true. We will not entertain ignorance ANYWHERE

Honestly speaking , I really don’t think that Korea is as prejudiced as it used to be or as it can be ( I know because I’m Korean and because I’ve lived in Korea , but currently don’t ).

To the people who were talking about Koreans hanging out with only Koreans , that is VERY true , sadly . I , for one , am very proud to say that I don’t hang out with only Koreans . As a matter of fact , 99% of my friends aren’t even Asians . :)

I saw that take place in high school and thought it’d stop once I got to college . Obviously , I didn’t . You might think that all Koreans are like that , but that’s not true ~ :)

Most of the Koreans who leave Korea and study in the US or in Canada usually come from filthy rich families . As a result , a lot of them ( and every single one I’ve met , which is quite a LOT ) are extremely spoiled and think that only Koreans are cool and ” worthy ” to hang out with , yadda yadda CRAP .

So anyway , I understand why a lot of the people reading these comments and seeing all these Koreans might think that Koreans are very prejudiced . But trust me , nowadays , it’s not so much . Of course , there’ll always be people who judge others based on their skin color or race , but the whole point of my post is that a lot of Koreans , especially the newer generations , are actually quite open-minded and accepting .

So , whoever wants to visit Korea but is afraid to because of these reactions , you should go ahead . Korea is a beautiful country , and for the most part , the people are nice . You’ll most likely get stared at some , but hey , it’ll be because you’re a foreigner , not because they’re ” judging ” you or something .

It’s the same as if I , a person as white and pale as can be , were to go to somewhere in South Africa where there’s only dark-skinned people . Obviously , I’ll stand out and people will stare at me , but that doesn’t mean that they’re looking down at me or anything . :)

    VISIT KOREA ~~ You’ll love it ! ^^

It’s strange how not many people notice in Hollywood, there are more dark-skinned stars than Asian. Like, there’s Halle Berry, Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, Alicia Keys, Ashanti, Rihanna, Ciara, Mary J Blige, and heaps more. Now, the only Asian A-list women in Hollywood are Sandra Oh, Zhang Ziyi, Lucy Liu, and maybe one or two more, like the tacky Bai Ling with her nipple slips. It’s kinda ironic, like as if they’re trying to make up for the discrimination that the ‘whites’ directed to the ‘blacks’. Asians are generally ignored in the Western world.

THE STUPID RACIST COMMENTS ARE DUMB, IF THEY DIDN’T LIKE I DON’T THINK THE WOULD HAVE PAID HER 13 MILLION DOLLARS FOR A 2 NIGHT CONCERT!

Pure blooded nigger animals are a ghastly species. Of course they would want to appear white, we are the most successful and powerful race in history. Savage nigger animals belong in Africa where they can swing naked from the trees as nature intended!
