Dressed in a low cut shirt, pop diva Beyonce held a fan signing at Hyundai Department store in Apkujong this afternoon. The bootylicious singer was quoted as saying that she found Korean women very beautiful.
Yah, that’s because she was in the area with the highest concentration of Korea’s best plastic surgeons.
Beyonce will finish up her world tour, “The Beyonce Experience” in Taiwan on November 12, 2007.

I honestly didn’t see the need to diss the Korean girls when Beyonce generously complimented Korean women as pretty. There’s a line between stating it as it is and being funny or trying too hard and being a pain in the arse.

Anyway back to Beyonce…she is beautiful but she does have wayyyy to much makeup on. She has like a boatload of makeup on. The red lipstick i do not have to much of a problem with though. I thought the problem lied more with the pale foundation.

Beyonce doesn’t wear a weave– she’s always had long hair– ever since she was a little girl– her mom has alot of white ancestry therefore all beyonce uses is a flat iron and an expensive hair dresser. Paris and Britney wear more fake hair than Beyonce.

personally, like the red lipstick color, reminiscent of film noir beauties of the 50s, but the thick AMOUNT and extra shine are a little overwhelming. she is beautiful, regardless, and so are many korean women.
i know this may come as a shock, but there are many naturally beautiful women in apku (it’s usually easy to tell the difference upclose). popseoul is right about the sheer concentration of plastic docs around hyundai mall, though.

she probably does have some kind of a weave…it’s so common. but i don’t think her skin looks good b/c of a lot of make-up. she was on oprah not too long ago and oprah couldn’t stop talking about her beautiful skin. i’m not a big fan of her music and i was actually annoyed at one point in time b/c she was just EVERYWHERE. however, i admire her talent and her lifestyle. she’s extremely hard-working and tries not to attract bad-press.
Okay, before you get your panties in a wad: it’s a FACT more Korean women get plastic surgery done than American women. The culture and emphasis on beauty is much greater in Korea - that’s why. There’s a heck of a lot more pressure to be beautiful in Korea. The fact that a lot of Korean women are plastic is well… a sad reality. (I roll my eyes when someone tells me their ssangkapul ‘developed’ when they got older. Please.)
Korea does have a population of INSANELY beautiful women. No one is denying that. But statistics say around slightly under half of them have had plastic surgery. I don’t see anything wrong with it - it’s just to enhance their features.
Popseoul isn’t putting down fellow Korean women - she’s stating a sad reality. She’s not known to be PC, so stop trying to expect that out of her. If you’re going to get offended: stop reading this blog. Easy.

Kitty I think we don’t really pay attention to how much American women get plastic surgery because they get small surgeries such as lipo, breast implants/augmentation, tummy tucks, rhinoplasty and such. I think we pay attention to Korean women more because they change their whole face and in addition they often get the eye-lid and nose to look more western so its way more visible. To say they get more I don’t agree.
I wouldn’t consider those small surgeries. (Breast implants is a major surgery - same with tummy tucks and rhinoplasties.) Plastic surgery is definitely getting more prominent in America, but it hasn’t caught up with Korea yet.
Statistically, yes, Koreans do get more plastic surgery. There are plenty of numbers and stats from various sources that confirm this. As I said, the emphasis on beauty is much higher than in America. Also contributing, the cost of plastic surgery is much lower in Korea, making it more readily available. A lot of American women (and men) want plastic surgery, but even the most minor rhinoplasty will cost you upwards of $3000.
Also, plastic surgery is a bit of a taboo in America. I’m sure plenty of American women WANT it done, but are afraid of the social impact. While in Korea, ssangkapul surgery is given to children as graduation gifts. To me, that says a lot.

Koreans do have a lot of plastic surgery, it’s alarming… Aren’t these things expensive? I once met this whole group of lady tourists from Korea and they were dressed so fancy, tall and skinny, that I think i must have stumbled on a modelling agency on a holiday…

plastic surgery is very common in the states and it’s not really taboo. more non-asian women get a lot done than you might think…they just get different things done. asian woman are more interested in procedures (such as double eyelids) that can drastically change the way they look so it’s more obvious.
