Why is almost everyone wearing black? At Ahn Jae-hwan and Jung Sun-hee’s happy wedding today at the Hyatt Hotel, friends of the newlyweds showed their respect by wearing black. Are we missing something?

Kismetology - I was just thinking the same thing! Is it a cultural thing not to dress up for weddings? As much as the bride and groom spend on the wedding, and weddings are held at nice venues, I would think they’d dress more formally. It’s odd because Koreans tend to overdress (for American standards) in their daily life.

YES. I think you’re missing something. You DO realize that white is the traditional color for funerals in most asian cultures? Because of that, many traditional households do not endorse wearing white on the wedding day… except for westernized families.
