So Ji-sub needs money

11W-sojisub6a

Why? Because So Ji-sub is going to be the face of little known domestic men’s brand, Sieg Fahrenheit. Poor guy. While others are getting calls from global brands or even creating their own brands (think Lee Jong-jae & Jung Woo-sung), Ji-sub has to make ends meet with a name I can barely pronounce in English let alone in Korean. In the mother tongue, “Fahrenheit” becomes “Parenheit”. puhaha.

Now that’s a classy name that will sell lots of cheap suits.

Check out So Ji-sub’s photo spread in the woman’s fashion monthly, W Magazine (Korea, November 2007) based the concept of the U.S. film, Brown Bunny. Many consider it as the worst movie ever. The photos were taken by famous photog who is known for his provocative style, Terry Richardson.

Warning! some pictures should not to be seen by the young and innocent. Seriously. (But, doesn’t that make you want to click more?)

The photos are vile. God, what what this guy thinking? And of course, yet again it’s a white woman who gets to look like a whore. I have to wonder if they would have been so quick to put a Korean woman in these photos?

21. 21 rita November 30, 2007 at 12:18 am

It’s meaningless for him to take this kind of photo for jsut a magazine shoot. It’s sick sick sick! Very disgusting! Maybe he want to destroy his own image.

22. 22 Jackie November 30, 2007 at 12:21 am

he does kinda look like the asian version of vincent gallo, cept less crazy.

23. 23 DUMBO November 30, 2007 at 12:23 am

I forgive him because he’s hot. haha

24. 24 dwilliams November 30, 2007 at 12:33 am

Everybody calm down the photographer is known for raunchy pictures and So isnt exactly the nice boy next door and he likes to push the envelope. I love the almost naked picture of him sweating that picture is very arousing and sexy. Also I don’think So needs money as he already has other contracts and who knows Farenheit might be paying him more than some of the other global brands.

25. 25 Sang Kyu November 30, 2007 at 12:38 am

finally someone in korea does an interesting photospread.

26. 26 rocketfuel November 30, 2007 at 12:39 am

this is for a women’s magazine?

how feminine…..

27. 27 danaburger November 30, 2007 at 12:40 am

Where did they take these pictures?
Sesame Street?
In the black and white photos it feels like Oscar’s garbage can is right outside of frame.

28. 28 Jenny Jen November 30, 2007 at 12:45 am

i agree to dwilliams. ji sub has never been the innocent guy next door. he´s always liked to provoke. so what´s so bad at these pictures? just because they looked rugged and dirty, it doesn´t mean they´re cheap. also ji sub has been around so long, i doubt he needs the money. he probably liked the concept.

29. 29 cindel November 30, 2007 at 12:53 am

Just be happy that the girl wasn’t REALLY giving him BJ like what Chloe did in the movie.

30. 30 monalisa November 30, 2007 at 1:00 am

That 2nd last pic looks fake. Can’t believe he would jeopardise his career this way.

31. 31 so wat November 30, 2007 at 1:11 am

It’s not fake. It appeared in the magazine spread.
Why did he jeopardise his career this way? I lost all respect for him.

32. 32 Milk* November 30, 2007 at 1:17 am

“Warning! some pictures should not to be seen by the young and innocent.”

When I read that I thought how bad could it be? It’s a women’s fashion magazine after all…. But it’s baaaad. >_>;

33. 33 halo November 30, 2007 at 1:36 am

grow up people!!!

are you all 12 yr olds??? no one above the age of 15 should be at all offended by any of the above pics. we’ve all seen a lot worse. just b/c he’s korean and it’s in a korean magazine you guys are all holding it up to a different standard. it’s just pictures. it is what 1 man thinks is sexy and provocative. open up your minds a bit and maybe you guys can start maturing…

34. 34 Omo November 30, 2007 at 1:39 am

Oh my, I’m both aroused and slightly offended…nonetheless I have more admiration for So Ji Sub for having the guts to risk his image with a spread like this.

Heck, I wouldn’t mind my own private Vincent Galloish photo session with Ji Sub. MeOW.

35. 35 valxuan November 30, 2007 at 1:45 am

*************
I agree that this is a R rated photoshoot. HOWEVER~you have to keep in mind which magazine it is for. This is W magazine. W magazine is known for photoshoots like this. It is a common spread. Please people don’t get into the whole race issue (like “oh poor white girls–why oh why are poor little white girls targeted”). Familiarize yourselves with the (art) world. Grow up and don’t stray off topic.

Rock on halo.

40. 40 Lana November 30, 2007 at 2:47 am

The photos are very sexy. And by the way, Faranheit is a WELL KNOWN brand in the US and has been for a while now? People shouldn’t have to tell you (the blogger) these things…you should already now. People have had to tell you things too many times that you’ve gotten wrong. I enjoy reading your blog, but you need to…step ya game up.

Go, So Ji Sub! He looks desirable in those pics, though.

41. 41 christine November 30, 2007 at 2:50 am

I don’t even know what to say … and I’ve worked for a women’s magazine before.

42. 42 Whatever November 30, 2007 at 3:02 am

I am sick of everything that is misunderstood and woefully mediocre automatically getting titled as art. What happened to standards in society? This is why everything is probably going into a sinkhole — people just keep finding new ways to reward mediocrity.

My opinion — tasteless and unimaginative. But to each their own.

43. 43 ed November 30, 2007 at 3:16 am

they know the existing gender/racial dynamics in korea. so this is hardly provoking but feeding into existing fantasies. IIRC brown bunny didn’t (just?) have rape aggression, there was a troubled relationship being depicted - which is more details and complex than these spreads. real provocation in this context would be so ji-sub going down on an chaebol ajussi, or american serviceman (preferably black?) for real.

44. 44 ed November 30, 2007 at 3:26 am

also, given the reality of foreign women getting inadequate (or downright despicable; check posts on marmot) help from police, hospitals, and even their own neighbors in the case of assault/rape, these photos are distasteful fuel to the fire.
to be art they coulda removed it from reality more, and be equal-opportunity raping/dominating each other.
this can be easily seen as so ji-sub playing out ajussi fantasies: he gets an audience who’s not normally into him, but still gives his female fans more, er, inches they can gawk at.

45. 45 soju November 30, 2007 at 3:32 am

okay, so i’ve seen brown bunny, and yes, it ranks right up there with the worst films of all time. so it surprised me when i found out that w magazine was doing a spread based on this movie, and even more surprised when i found out that one of my favorite actors, so jisub agreed to it. not surprising, however, was that they hired terry richardson to shoot it.

don’t really know what to think of these photos, actually. on some level, they seem tasteless and pointless. and, no, that woman isn’t being raped … that would just be WRONG to exploit women that way. but on the other hand, i have a lot of admiration for jisub for tackling this project. he blasts the korean pretty boy industry to pieces and makes a bold statement. kudos for jisub for not becoming a cookie cutter actor!

46. 46 YooYoo November 30, 2007 at 3:35 am

He loves photography thats why it’s okay with him to pose like that. He has the nice bod & still so hot!

54. 54 mookie November 30, 2007 at 5:22 am

showing almost down there skin (or more), ‘pushing envelope’, raunchy or ‘provocative’ aside, I dun find these pics one bit sexy or artsy or edgy…AT ALL.. and it’s too bad coz at least that’s what they set up to attain. It doesnt provoke anything in me other than sjs has super bad taste in movie (brown bunny…after seeing it, I not only want my hour plus back, but all the time wasted for me to decide to watch it get ahold of it and the time afterwards what I wanna hit my head against some wall in ‘whatamIthinking’ mode.. and that’s a LONG while) and thus it makes me doubt his talent in making good movies or dramas if he has sucha peculiar taste.

I dun find sjs good looking or sizzling hot to start out with. He has a brooding melancholy enigma that only worked in misa….his other works ar bad or boring. So he’s quite overrated in my books esp in versatility…this is not helping my opinion of him one single bit.

And please someone tell him, long hair is not working for him, it’s not sexy, not edgy just plain bad and ugly. with his doubtful taste, no way he can tell but we should really say it in his face and shake some sense into him.

55. 55 paran November 30, 2007 at 5:25 am

@nacom202

If you had read the article, you would have known that these aren’t the advertisements for Sieg Faranheit. They are photos from a W Magazine spread.

And the girl isn’t being raped. Rent “Brown Bunny” and you’ll see for yourself.

On second thought. Don’t rent it. Given your low tolerance for sexual images, this movie will only give you a heart attack.

56. 56 kkk November 30, 2007 at 5:34 am

No matter which magazine its for, *looks up at So Ji Sub banner, than down at picture*, still….

of all choices, why the ugly hair!?

Or why couldnt he just take everything off~

oh well. T^T

60. 60 Min A November 30, 2007 at 6:20 am

wth??? that is nasty…i don’t think women would want to see that…he looks like a druggie~ or a millionaire drunkard who just lost all his money in one gamble.

btw, the black and white photos looks like Brooklyn~

61. 61 mookie November 30, 2007 at 6:23 am

@ paran or kkk,

these comments r quite objective…had nth to do with being conservative or tolerance for sexual images. The mentions of anything hollywood or some big shot photographer covered up a lot of slacks for what is tasteful or art. If Koreans in Korea dun find this boring + tacky and thus bad, it’s just they should know better and stop blindly being held by the nose by some big foreign names on what is art.

Brown bunny.. pure waste of time, space, film, Chloe Sevigny and her mouth, boring boring stagnant mess of pretentious narcissistic glorification of Gallo or how he spat out ‘art’ by thinking with his dxxk.

There ar more naked bodyparts and long rough ‘real’ sex in Lust Caution but that comes off as pure art, provocative, thought provoking and best film tonnes of asians have seen this yr if not ever.

62. 62 xxcrazy_onexx November 30, 2007 at 6:27 am

to halo:
grow up??? its not the fact that we (or some people) are close minded….its the fact that this is a photoshoot where a woman is being degraded. that just disgusts me, how could a WOMAN’s magazine be portraying women this way? shes being violently silenced, choked, and what not. how can you, im assuming ur a girl, accept something like this?
its obviously not putting women in a favorable light
its just disgusting, sure u can call it “artsy” but really…its hardly so

i absolutely LOVE sojisub too…..but man, what the hell was he thinking? and he looks horrible too btw

63. 63 Ana November 30, 2007 at 6:36 am

It doesn’t look like a magazine spread to me. He looks like a just-got-fired from his job, drunk ahjushi in those pictures. The hair is horrible, he looks like he hasn’t been taking a shower for weeks. If they really want their products to sell then this is a bad idea for promotion.

64. 64 Cutie November 30, 2007 at 6:46 am

@Ana, Heheh, I was thinking this would have been pictures used in a newspaper, or images used for a news channel with the following, “SO JI SUB - DRUG ADDICT AND RAPIST COUGHT. ACTOR’S CAREER FINISHED.” etc etc.

65. 65 sakura November 30, 2007 at 6:49 am

66. 66 Kiraichi November 30, 2007 at 6:49 am

is this guy some kind of porno actor ?

67. 67 Cutie November 30, 2007 at 6:54 am

Oh, and according to WKOREA.com > Fashion Style, right under THE BROWN BUNNY, its says:

그는 본래 자유로운 방랑자였다. 그는 본래 긴 한숨과 고독을 즐기는 은둔자였다.

tranlates to: His origin was the free swag man. His origin with a long breath was the anchorite who enjoys a loneliness.

Maybe because in the magazine, both Kim Ahjoong- MY FAIR LADY (her frizzle hair ghost pictures) and YEH- VICE VERSA (With her pictures that had the masculine short hair with the feminine pictures) all had this, I wouldn’t say dark, but well. dark feel. VAPOUR TAIL on page 3 was just as scary.

68. 68 Em kay November 30, 2007 at 6:58 am

it’s just the style of the photographer. He’s just a model. Not my taste so whatever.

69. 69 Dumpling November 30, 2007 at 7:14 am

“Push the envelope”? “No big deal?” He’s sexually and physically assaulting a woman. That’s what the pose, fake or not it doesn’t matter. It’s the image being portrayed. Is this the message a Korean man should be sending, that it’s cool to assault a woman? And the reason I brought up her being white was not because I think white women are somehow precious (ALL women are precious) but because many foreigners have the impression that white women are fair game to use as sex objects or objects to commit violence against. An Asian or a Black woman would not be suggested for this kind of photo shoot because if photos like this appeared Asian and Black people would hit the freakin’ roof (and rightfully so). So they fall back on the old stereotype of the blonde whore. I’m just sick of it. I realize that white foreign celebrities like Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton and Pamela Anderson don’t exactly do wonders for the image of caucasian women, but that doesn’t justify using white women as objects for abuse. Shame on this guy. I hope there is a severe backlash in Korea. (Am I being too hopeful or will this just go ignored?)

70. 70 Dumpling November 30, 2007 at 7:18 am

“And the girl isn’t being raped. Rent “Brown Bunny” and you’ll see for yourself.”

It doesn’t matter what is in the movie. This is a magazine spread. Sure, it’s supposed to be based on the movie scenes, but BB was a low-budget independent movie not seen by very many people. The vast and wide majority of people who see this magazine spread will have NO CLUE about the movie. It will just look like pictures of a Korean man sexually assaulting a white woman and getting her into submission with her head in his crotch. Disgusting, degrading and shameful. Shame on everyone involved.

71. 71 narutaru November 30, 2007 at 7:25 am

OMG! YUCK! OMG! These photos are sick!!!

I think I am going to go and throw up…and I was about to have breakfast to.

*runs away crying*!

72. 72 cathy November 30, 2007 at 7:40 am

So disgusting, especially the one wherein he was somewhat masturbating. Glad that I don’t like him anymore because I found out that he can’t really act. I only liked him in MISA.

73. 73 Brina November 30, 2007 at 7:56 am

He just looks..dirty. O_O Not in a good way either.

74. 74 Kyra November 30, 2007 at 8:05 am

well, the scenes with the woman remind me of the movie Irreversible. He need to cut his hair and shave the mustache to get the most out of this shoot though. At least they didn’t try to shoot the infamous scene at the end of Brown Bunny.
Remember, W Magazine was the one that published that REALLY risque spread of David Beckham and Posh Spice a few months back. This is about as extreme as that one, but the Beckhams looked so much better compare to this one.

75. 75 Kyra November 30, 2007 at 8:09 am

nvm, I just had a second look at the spread, they actually did THE scene…. wow, *speechless*

76. 76 Mheaven November 30, 2007 at 8:25 am

I think this photo shoot has a lot of good things going on artisticly. Seo Ji Sub looks fantastic in the shoot. however, the girl is over doing it a bit with her facial expressions. All in all though i think it is a win though, loving the grittiness.

77. 77 Dumpling November 30, 2007 at 9:20 am

“All in all though i think it is a win though, loving the grittiness.”

Translation: “I enjoy watching men degrade, abuse and subjugate women. The end.”

78. 78 hahahah November 30, 2007 at 9:23 am

omg… i don’t know why i laughed. this is the first time a korean celebrity shot photos like this.. or i missed out a lot. he’s such a handsome guy but for some reason.. these photos are making him look like a rapist/pervert. :O

79. 79 Arie November 30, 2007 at 9:32 am

WOW o-o;
That was.. unexpected.. >__<
JiSub is also a strange choice but, although the photos are tacky, he can definitely pull it off X’D
Props to JiSub for having the guts to do so..
And even here in Portugal I’ve heard of Sieg Fahrenheit, so I guess they aren’t all that unknown..

80. 80 Sang Kyu November 30, 2007 at 9:38 am

congratulation everyone, for playing right into their trap.

Funny sidenote: My dad was SO convinced that SJS was the son of his old military buddy until about two years ago, when we found out he wasn’t.

But honestly…why is he touching himself? He looks like he hasn’t washed in days and just looks…decrepit.

wth…

90. 90 Aya November 30, 2007 at 10:52 am

The things this set IMPLIES with its INTENT, and not what it SHOWS is what is the most disturbing. When you are mature you will understand this concept.

@popseoul I know, I was saying how there have been successful fareinsdhkjshdheight brands here in the US so there is a frail hope for it there. Well, if they hadnt published these pics.

103. 103 Whatever November 30, 2007 at 12:53 pm

I like how not liking these shoots automatically makes the people who don’t like them “prudes”, “immature”, or “close-minded”. You guys seriously need to chill and stop telling yourselves that you’re the little independent martyrs of the world, carrying the torch for all those poor misunderstood souls who get ragged on by the general public, aka most of the other people who have commented here.

Instead of defending the photos, you’re attacking the people who are attacking the photos. And why are you doing this? Because there are no good points to defend the photos with. The pictures aren’t provocative — they’re plain crude. If you saw this on the side of the street, you’d think it was the next artistic masterpiece? Why does stilling the moment by making it a photo change that? Nor do I find them particularly artistic — any half-wit with a sprinkle of courage and a working sex drive could’ve envisioned these pictures.

As for the controversy comment — yes, that may be true, but in my case, it’s you people that get on my nerves, not the pictures.

109. 109 Tushka November 30, 2007 at 1:50 pm

The photographer was going for a look and So succeeded in giving the guy the look he wanted. I’ve seen these pictures on soompi about a week or more ago. Don’t find them shocking or distasteful. I like So with the long locks and facial hair. And, the pic where he is touching himself is nice.

In general I don’t read magazines, I’m magazine illiterate basically. I don’t read magazines I read books lol, so if anyone named a magazine I probably wouldn’t know it except for the ones I’ve seen from on advertising on TV…Vogue, Life, Forbes and world renown Playboy & Playgirl. Ji-Sup oppa wow! Maybe this was a theme within the magazine he’s expressing…as to what theme..I have no clue. Regardless I still luv him.

chill down!

the photospread is meant to be controversial. It’s what will get people talking. This kind of ads are meant to get those who are offended to do the marketing for brand. Any publicity is good publicity for them. People in society today put too much work into seeking reasons to be offended. *sigh*

Ok most of the pictures I like except the one where he is sitting on the stairs (not the black and white one). I think its the hair that is messing up the tone of these pictures I think he should cut it. I don’t know whatever this just seems like something he would probably do anyways. I just like the fact that he did such a risky photo shoot. He’s still good looking to me!! :P

At first I reacted in disappointment/shock/disgust, & I still dislike them, but looking at it now I’m not so phased anymore.

BTW get out with the SJS needs money tagline. I’m sure he earns enough to support both you & I. All brands begin small. Most times it’s the way they market themselves that makes their name.

128. 128 Aya November 30, 2007 at 8:50 pm

Shock value aside, marketing value aside, the fact I find him ugly aside, what this portrays is DISGUSTING. And so far Ive never seen that sort of thing in a mag. Most of you who are trying to defend it are probably too young to be affected by the sort of ‘crimes’ this brings to mind. You are probably in the first year of your high school. But I guarantee you all of us will not be purchasing a suit here, nor picking up a magazine that ran this. Sex is cool when it is portrayed not as RAPE but as SEX. SEX is cool but rape is just disgusting. But again, you probably have never been affected by this which I pray you never will be and am happy you haven’t been. Passionate sex, lust, beautiful sex. These things are great but implying rape, degradation, dirty scummy places (The type most people are subject to rape or assault in) and dirt scummy looking men (Come on now, admit it, he looks dirty and scummy) attacking and degrading a woman. And then they made her white. I hear enough horror stories about being stalked because you’re white in asia, along with the subway perverts, etc. This doesnt make a very good impression for a small blonde lady for myself in the way of safety. Not that that alone would deter me, considering I go to Mexico all the time, which may be worse, but it certainly wouldnt stir up affectionate feelings from the public were it to be public that these were published.

129. 129 dwilliams November 30, 2007 at 9:48 pm

“I hear enough horror stories about being stalked because you’re white in asia, along with the subway perverts, etc. This doesnt make a very good impression for a small blonde lady for myself in the way of safety”

Aya if these pictures never existed it wouldn’t stop criminals from hurting people and being stalked as less to do with a person’s color and more to do with the fact the individual is a sicko should it matter if they’re white, you don’t think people as a whole get stalked or physically or verbally assaulted?

130. 130 puking November 30, 2007 at 9:59 pm

“God..he’s just an actor people!. Infact, JiSub is a professional model! Not many korean actors/models can pose like JiSub did!. He has so much passion!!.”

thank god most korean actors and models have the good sense not to debase themselves doing a vile photoshoot like that.
and people who defend him as just doing his work as an actor and model have NO idea how those photos promote violence against women. just ask yourself if you would show those photos to a child. or to a girl or woman who has been sexually assaulted or is in a physically abusive relationship.

it’s insulting to say people are offended by the photos for the sake of being offended. or that they are virgins, prudes, overly sheltered, etc. it’s people who aren’t offended that need to have their heads examined. there’s a limit to hero worship. to see your idol commit professional suicide and still cheer him on is just pitiful. even worse are the comments of fans who hope to see so ji sub do something more shocking than that disgusting photospread. “spread your wings! go beyond the forest!” oh puhleeze… you might as well ask him to jump off a cliff.

131. 131 TN November 30, 2007 at 10:01 pm

To be ambitious, one has to be daring so says many…I am not a fan of SJS(altho his acting is quite good like in Sorry I love you) but I must congratulate him on his new achievement in the entertainment world. He has moved himself to another level where many others(actors) fear to tread(cos it takes guts). To him it will be a challenge to his acting career but to some it is crude and Xrated….it is anyone’s cup of tea…..to SJS,it is a chance to more offers of acting roles or it may augurs a death knell.
Hi guys I just read a post in popseoul.com and I found something unbelievable which I want all of u to read and clear the image of our beloved So Ji Sub here is the link
[post=0]http://popseoul.com/2007/11/29/so-ji-sub-needs-money/[/post]
I have been following this thread and many of the blogs for some time and I have wanted to speak out and up but I didn’t want to offend anyone. But now I just don’t care.

The writer of that blog and all those who criticized the photos need to get off the internet and actually go out there and serve REAL abused women who they say they supposedly support.

I am curious to know how many of those critical bloggers and their pals are actively working to stop female circumcision throughout Africa, the systematic rape–going on NOW, in real time,–in Darfur/Sudan, the trafficking of women in sex trades AROUND THE WORLD, the systematic abortions of females fetuses in China, India, and other nations,.etc.

Getting riled up over an ACTOR SIMULATING natural acts of sexuality in some freaking PHOTOS that shows nothing more than natural acts of SIMULATED sexuality is, well, pathetic in the face of real and vicious acts against women.

I recommend that the blogger and her pals recognize the difference between simulated portrayal of sexuality (raw) and real violence.

More than that, the blogger’s and her pals’ “I know soooo much more about violence against women than you all do because you are unenlightened Asians or are 14-year olds who do not know better, while I am more enlightened because I am white or Asian western and privileged, who took some women’s courses in college” attitude is more offensive than JiSub’s photos. These women’s comments are racist and arrogant. I am Asian. I have lived in many countries, including Europe and USA, and I work with REAL abused women. They are women who live in slums and have not even drinking water.

So I am sick of western or westernized women (on a computer) talking down to me and other women.

I hope that these bloggers never walk into Ang Lee’s “Lust Caution,” (I am proud that I watched it in a full theater), or any movie that DEPICTS raw, even rough, sexuality, because if they do, boy, that will get their “oh-my-lordy-lordy” panties in a twist.

To the blogger. Want to get your arrogant outrage to real use? Leave the blog and computer and go into the real world: Go to Darfur….Fight to stop rape as a weapon of choice in wars…Travel around the world and stop the billion dollar industry in sex trafficking…End honor killings…picket red light districts and strip clubs in just about every country in the world…stop your hubby, male friends, boy friends and brothers from jacking off to porno…Fight the spread of pornography.

After that, come back and look at the photos in W magazine. It will get your heads out of the sand/mud and make you see what is real (brutal) and what is not (some raw photos).

Hey maybe the blogger should put a “fatwa” on JiSub. If some of you do not know what a fatwa is, look it up while taking a break from blogging and spewing self-important comments from your nicely decorated bedrooms and from your 1,600-2,000 dollar computers. That is money that you could have spent on saving a lot of REAL women.

IF this W magazine spread makes JiSub lose fans, okay, fine. Who the f–k cares anyway?

133. 133 bleh November 30, 2007 at 11:16 pm

puking,

i agree with each and everything you said. Thank God other korean actors/models have better brain and dignity not to pose like that. And puhleaseee ppl, don’t blame every misbehavior in the name of art! That’s not artsy at all to me..it’s purely disgusting!! you can call us ‘virgin’ or ’sheltered’ or whatever, but like what puking said, those who aren’t offended are the one needs to have their head examined.

Thank God those actors i like are not as ‘passionate’ as this guy.

134. 134 Aya November 30, 2007 at 11:29 pm

“the individual is a sicko should it matter if they’re white, you don’t think people as a whole get stalked or physically or verbally assaulted?”

Yes, it matters in Asia. And other foreign places, for that matter. I know when I and my friends go out of the country, not necessarily to Korea, I and my friends find ourselves followed. Not in a mean way but in a nice way, well a bit creepy, really, still, doesn’t do anything for people who’ve never been there. Americans would make a frenzy if this were to be publicized enough.
Kind of like, the “ugliest” dude in the world here goes there (Asia) and becomes a playboy since they usually find it exotic and good looking. I’m not saying all do, I’m just saying a man who wouldn’t have a time of day here, gets multiple ladies there. IF you don’t believe this, please research it first. Ask someone who’s been there. Who’s white. Asia’s not the only place, try going to Mexico as a white blonde chick. If you’re not white and never been out of the country, or never been to Asia or other foreign countries of close proximity or similarity, and are white, then please do not try and defend it, the attention a white girl gets there, wanted or unwanted, is FAR greater than she will get anywhere in America. This doesn’t mean she WILL get assaulted, but it certainly increases the possibility. And please research before you say it doesn’t.

135. 135 tweety November 30, 2007 at 11:51 pm

138. 138 Dumpling December 1, 2007 at 5:59 am

“Yes, it matters in Asia. And other foreign places, for that matter.”

Amen to that. Like in Japan. I LOVE Japan and I encountered many wonderful Japanese people on my first trip there but I wasn’t in the city. It is well known that white foreign women are routinely harassed by Japanse men in larger cities like Tokyo. They somehow have the mistaken impression that not only are white women fair game but that somehow white women ask for it, are used to it, and won’t be bothered by it. The largest majority of these women are blonde. It is common for blonde foreign women to be followed, shouted at, and generally stared at and harassed. Yes, in some rare cases they have been raped and murdered. There are some cases that have gone public, like the British teacher in Tokyo who’s killer is still on the lose. This guy has a history of following, stalking and becoming fixated on white foreign women. It is one thing for a Japanese man to stare a bit at something new and novel (and beautiful) and then go on his way. But these kinds of photos work on the pysche of unhealthy men and pervert and skew their idea of what white women are like.

141. 141 rachel December 1, 2007 at 9:16 am

hmmm, i actually really like the photoshoot. its important to remember that it is just a photoshoot. I’ll say that the subject matter/theme is not the best but from an artistic standpoint, i think its very well done and so ji sub is excellent.

Some disgusting comments you have there. Don’t you feel like puking when you type “Good job! So ji sub, rape white women!!!” That’s sick, sick, sick. White, Asian, Black or whatever race, no one deserves getting rape. Besides, he is not raping that woman. Your thoughts are severely insulting and degrading to the women of this world. Including yourself, or are you a man with sick thoughts??? Or maybe just pure pyscho? You need help, man.
