Rain wishes us a Happy New Year

Using his little finger as a universal symbol of greeting for Christmas, Rain uses the same fingers to send his new year greetings.

Yes, he is trying too hard to be cute. He should know that only 1 finger does not need any explanation. But anyways….

We thought it would be a fitting way to end the year because 2007 for us began with Rain. So, we at POPSEOUL! wish all our haters and loyal fans, “Sae Hae Bok Mani” or “Lots of Good luck in the New Year” for 2008.

Big Bang’s G-Dragon and TOP hospitalized

Big Bang members, T.O.P (real name Choi Seung-hyun) is in the hospital for a severe case of tonsilitis. The one time chubbster was rushed to the hospital 30 minutes before going on air for the year end 2007 KBS Music Awards on December 30th, 2007.

Visiting him at the hospital, fellow member G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-young) also checked himself in for exhaustion that same night. He was released temporarily on the 31^st (Korea time) for a show taping.

G-Dragon and T.O.P are both being treated. T.O.P is expected to stay in the hospital for a week. No word yet on G-Dragon will be released.

What a way to start the new year.

2007 MBC Drama Awards

The 2007 MBC Drama Awards was a big enough honor to bring out the Bae Yong-joon out from Neverland to accept the award for the Grand Prize (대상) the highest honor and also the Netizen’s Choice Award.

Yun Eun-hye and Gong Yoo were recognized for their outstanding acting skills for the popular hit drama, Coffee Prince.

The MBC Awards recognizes excellence in acting by being generous with its recognition. Two persons from each category for the best and outstanding actor/actress awards are chosen (sometimes translated as ‘top excellence’ and ‘excellence’ awards). Based on such a system, it seems that almost everyone on an MBC drama picked up an award. A win-win situation for the actors, but at the same time, the seriousness of the awards is watered down. Do they really need 2 separate categories for “top excellence” and “excellence” in acting?

Year end 2007 SBS Music Awards

Lee Hyori has got to be laughing at the bib.

The SBS Music Awards rounded up the best in music on one stage. Big name music acts showed their stuff by singing covers of hit songs from the past and present -Big Bang, Yangpa, 1tym, Jinusean, Epik High, Wondergirls, JYP, Girl’s Generation, Baek Ji-young, Chae Yeon, Suh In-young, SG Wannabe, FT Island, Stephanie, Cherry Filter, Clazziquai etc.

Some of the big names (under the same management) came together to share the same stage - JYP Entertainment (JYP and Wondergirls), YG Family (Jinusean, Se7en, 1tym Big Bang) and SM Entertainment.

MC’s of the night were the sexy Lee Hyori and the bib wearing Lee Hui-jae.

Se7en makes surprise appearance at SBS Music Awards

Back on the POPSEOUL! radar, Se7en makes a surprise appearance at the 2007 SBS Music Awards on December 29^th. Rain’s rival showed support on stage for the rest of the crew from the YG family- Jinusean, 1tym and BigBang.

The better ESL student returned to the motherland for the upcoming concert YG Entertainment “One Concert” on New Years Eve at Olympic Stadium. Se7en will be spending the new years with his family and will return to the U.S. on January 2^nd, 2008.
