Kim A-joong still has hair

20071129kimajoong1

For now it least.

Pantene used to be one of my favorite shampoos. Until I realized that the clumps of hair clogging the tub drain was due to harsh chemical based shampoos. Because of that, I switched to paraben-free and sulfate free hair products. The drain no longer is clogged and I still have my hair.

And I hope that Kim A-joong still has her hair. From the looks of it, her hair looks thick and healthy. Lucky ducky. The 200lb Beauty, the face of Pantene, was hawking the Shampoo and Treatment products yesterday. She also signed autographs for fans.

Notice the couple ring on 4th finger left hand.

  2. 2 Cutie December 1, 2007 at 3:31 am

Yup, didnt know that Pantene could do that. I’ve only used it a few times, but it wasnt in my house that I took a shower….

I wonder who the couple is?

i love pantene but yeah my hair does fall out like crazy— eek what shampoo do you recommend?

  5. 5 O_O December 1, 2007 at 5:17 am

u know… although she advertises for them… doesn’t neccessarily mean that she uses their shampoo…

  6. 6 MinYoung December 1, 2007 at 5:46 am

I remember reading about this a while ago. There were so many other shampoos I read about that were just as bad as Pantene but I can’t remember which one.

  7. 7 Dumpling December 1, 2007 at 5:47 am

Pantene is junk. Literally. The reason it makes hair look so thick and shiny is that it contains a waxy substance (chemicals) that coats the shaft of the hair. After months (or God forbid, years) of using this mess it takes a visit to a professional salon to have it removed. Pantene does NOT condition the hair, it is NOT nutritious and it does NOT improve the quality and health of the hair. All it does is coat the hair and give the user a false sense of having their hair miraculously beautified. A really good product is something nature-based and pure like Aveda. Plus Aveda smells wonderful.

  8. 8 Dumpling December 1, 2007 at 5:49 am

    @ Jackie,

I totally recommend Aveda. I’ll tell you why–becuase every time I go to have my hair cut the stylist ALWAYS (10 times out of 10) comments on how healthy my hair is. I am a walking commercial for Aveda. Your hair will not fall out–a small amount of hair loss is normal but it should never be more than a couple of strands. Aveda is a tiny bit on the expensive side but nothing unreasonable and your hair will thank you for it.

  9. 9 stella December 1, 2007 at 5:51 am

so popseoul what brand of hair shampoo and conditioner products do you use that are paraben and sulfate free because I loose a lot of hair in the shower too so maybe i’ll try the one you are using.

  10. 10 dORkiDOKI December 1, 2007 at 6:07 am

of course she still have hair! unless you guys want her to go bald?? that would be somewhat funny but still i think she’ll look hot bald! and is pantene really that bad for your hair?? good thing i dont use that. i buy the cheap kind of shampoon like White Rain. I love White Rain, and the regualr Rain to! ha! funny! i feel stupid! but seriously i love to play in the rain! and i love Rain BI! ha! not in that way! but hes pretty good even though he isnt that popluar towards you idiot these day! well he is way better looking then se7en now thats for sure! and who cares if he has small eyes it cute!

  11. 11 lazybum December 1, 2007 at 6:45 am

omg!! i noticed the same thing! after using pantene my hair started to fall out. and i was thinking its because i straightened my hair… thanks for the tip guys… yeah and i did notice a thick pastic like thing covering my hair everytime i used the conditioner. thought i was the only one with the problem =P

  12. 12 degeneral December 1, 2007 at 6:46 am

i think it was the 3 P’s - Pantene, Pert, Prell - are those last 2 still around?

endorsing the product is one thing, but why does she have to wear a fake beauty pageant sash? is this common in Korea?

  13. 13 ed December 1, 2007 at 6:58 am

ugh, the ingredients sound disgusting. ajoong hawks it, but don’t mean she uses it.

  14. 14 steve December 1, 2007 at 7:09 am

  16. 16 polynasian December 1, 2007 at 7:41 am

I use Pantene and my hair is healthy and shiny. Has anyone tried the brand Nexus just curious if it works or not?

  17. 17 Jen December 1, 2007 at 8:14 am

what kind of shampoo do you use? i’m willing to find something to stop hair loss :)

  18. 18 chiaye December 1, 2007 at 9:00 am

Does any one uses PHYSIQUE? That’s a great shampoo, for me at least, but they stop making them.. two or three years now.. i wonder why … it was the best shampoo for me .. =\

    Pantene is like EVERYWHERE

  19. 19 BKJSuh December 1, 2007 at 9:02 am

What’s up with these recent entries that are total failure? C’mon Popseoul-nim, post something that’s worth reading!

  20. 20 sasuke December 1, 2007 at 9:05 am

    Pantene is fine.
Kim Ajoong looks pretty nice in these pictures. I still don’t like her because her face is fake.

  21. 21 yetaz December 1, 2007 at 9:11 am

why can’t there be more intelligent people like Dumpling on this site. seriously f*ck all the suju supporters and fans who vigourously deny that plastic surgery was done on their facourite celebrities.

as for pantene, quit that junk years ago.

  22. 22 jess1tym December 1, 2007 at 9:32 am

paraben-free and sulfate free…what? We all live in a chemical world…so I don’t know. Hell everything is Toxic. No wonder everyone and their uncle all got cancer.

  23. 23 okey doke December 1, 2007 at 9:41 am

haha its funny how the comments are not about kim a joong.. but about which product to use.
i myself didn’t know that pantene was that bad.. i actually use it. hmm probably the answer to why ive been shedding like a dog?

    but anyway.
kim ah joon is not pretty.
i thought she was in 200 pound beauty.. but she looks so fake.

  24. 24 Meru December 1, 2007 at 9:47 am

This post actually reminds me some of the older posts on beauty products you’ve used and rated. Those are actually quite helpful and informative, it’d be nice to read more scoops like that.

  25. 25 toocutedoggy December 1, 2007 at 9:58 am

    wow- she has short fingers…lol

  26. 26 MissBubbles December 1, 2007 at 10:41 am

I heard Herbal Essence makes your hair fall out as well.. too bad cause it’s one of the best smelling shampoos out there =/

I don’t think this chick is pretty AT ALL!!! Especially after I saw how she used to look like. DAYAM!!! blinded me for a good hour! First time I saw her I thought she looked like the white flying dragon thingy in “Never Ending Story”.

  27. 27 blue December 1, 2007 at 10:51 am

i used to clog my drain and shed everywhere when i used pantene, now i use dove and i love it!!

  28. 28 Aivoxora December 1, 2007 at 10:54 am

Is that just me ? or KAJ looks more fake day by day ? Is that just the make-up or all those fillers ?

    Anyways, thanks for the info.

  29. 29 hannah December 1, 2007 at 11:11 am

    she`s really beautiful

  30. 30 colormewierd December 1, 2007 at 11:13 am

@ POPSEOUL: Were you the friend that was mentioned in the k-popped sisters site? Just curious. :p

As for hair tips I do know that its normal for hair to fall out. We usually average like a 100 strands or so and the effect of that on longer hairs look alarming but do not panic ladies. :) It’s all normal. Just take care of your hair by not torturing it with chemicals and heat. You don’t want it to be a broom, right?

  31. 31 Jane. December 1, 2007 at 12:31 pm

Hmm, I’ve used Pantene for a while now, but all the hairstylists have said I had healthy hair..Maybe not?
Perhaps I will try this “Aveda” that Dumpling had mentioned..My hair has began to fall out more often..

  32. 32 cwLD December 1, 2007 at 12:32 pm

Has anyone tried Garnier… It smells good and I don’t feel so dry after using it. Don’t feel so oily either. =/

  33. 33 cwLD December 1, 2007 at 12:33 pm

And oh, by the way, when I read the title of the post I thought you were going to write about KAJ acting in a drama/movie which requires her to be bald. ;p

  34. 34 Anon December 1, 2007 at 12:39 pm

Yeah, my niece used Pantene some years ago and her hair stylists said her hair looked um…brittle? broken? something like that. but…I think Biolage is the best Shampoo & conditioner I’ve used. it makes my hair silky soft. and it smells NATURAL! :) like herbs.

  35. 35 popseoul December 1, 2007 at 12:49 pm

we are all sounding like shampoo commercials - haha….

  36. 36 Anon December 1, 2007 at 12:51 pm

    ^^ bahahaha! thats so true.

  37. 37 kk89 December 1, 2007 at 1:06 pm

lol I agree pantene does make your hair fall out…

  38. 38 CutiEjOy December 1, 2007 at 1:15 pm

for some reason her smile reminds me of jessica alba’s.

  39. 39 Dumpling December 1, 2007 at 1:16 pm

    Biolage is nice.

And here is the Aveda site, so those who are interested will know what the products look like.

    http://www.aveda.com

Click on the hair section at the top. I highly recommend their simple “Shampure” line. That’s their classic. But they have others as well, such as shampoo for fly-away hair, and shampoos for blondes, brunettes and red-heads that will give your color a natural boost (no chemicals and dyes). As you will see, an 8.5 ounce bottle is about $9. This is only a few dollars more than something you would get in the drugstore. And you don’t need to wash your hair every day unless you have a severe problem, like very oily scalp or something like that. If your hair is normal, shampoo and condition it every other day.

  40. 40 popseoul December 1, 2007 at 1:28 pm

FYI, if possible stay away from the supermarket shampoos such as Pantene or Vidal Sassoon, Herbal Essence etc. All smell fabulous! However, that’s it. These brands contain harsh detergents that strip the hair and that’s why you need conditioner afterwards to add more chemicals for moisture.

Anyhow, these days if you live in the states, there is a great selection of nice-smelling-gentle shampoos out there as suggested by Dumpling like Aveda or Biolage. Others to try are Pureology Volume shampoo, Alba Botanica Hair wash or the completely natural Carol’s Daughter hair products. There are tons of great ones for the lucky ppl in North America.

These products are very difficult to find in Korea, so I just use J&J baby shampoo or body wash. Be warned that if you make the switch to natural shampoos or washes, your hair will go through a withdrawal period of about a month when it will feel like straw. After that period of adjustment, there is no need to use conditioner after each wash. Instead use a bit of hair serum to give your hair some protection.

Ok, that was way too long. Sorry for turning this into a hair post.

    But hope that helps.

  41. 41 Em kay December 1, 2007 at 1:33 pm

What about head & shoulders?? I use that because it seems to have everything i want, like, i don’t even have to condition my hair when i use head&shoulders. Is that also in the bad shampoo category??

  42. 42 Em kay December 1, 2007 at 1:38 pm

oh and uhh Kim Ajoong…yeah nice hair thanks to magic perm.

  43. 43 d0a2 December 1, 2007 at 1:59 pm

what kind of shampoo do u use popseoul? im using nexus, pantene n garnier frutis. but i gotta admit pantene does make my hair fall out.

  44. 44 peepoo December 1, 2007 at 2:00 pm

Yes, both Aveda and Biolage are really good. Although I prefer Biolage b/c I love the smell!

  45. 45 green042589 December 1, 2007 at 2:20 pm

well i’ve read an average person looses 50-70 strands of hair/day. So it’s a natural thing….. ofcourse harsh chemicals in some shampoo contributes more.

  46. 46 Susie December 1, 2007 at 2:28 pm

For Aveda products, which shampoo is best? Shampure, Smooth Infusion or Rosemary Mint? Ive been a Pantene user all my life and my hair doesnt fall out in mass quanties. I do clarify my hair regularly though with either Origins or Pantene. I curious to try some Aveda products. Thanks!

  47. 47 Eva December 1, 2007 at 2:33 pm

Now i know why i had lost a lot of hair recently, Pentene not only caused lost hair but also dandruff.

  48. 48 Naqiyyah December 1, 2007 at 3:00 pm

OMG!! I realize that too!! I’m currently using Pantene and me hair do fall ~ But it smell nice tho :) and everyone keeps on asking me what shampoo do i use bcoz it smells nice. Its too bad tho.

  49. 49 Mics December 1, 2007 at 3:08 pm

Thanks Popseoul for that tip. I didn’t know that the hair does that when you switch to a new shampoo. I thought that the next shampoo I use just sucks and makes my hair rough and dry.

  50. 50 junsufan December 1, 2007 at 3:37 pm

Popseoul, u should do more blog entries on cosmetics and stuffs..and hair..XD I hate pantene too btw, no idea why lots of ppl use it..

  52. 52 narutaru December 1, 2007 at 9:33 pm

She could be wearing fake hair you knnow.

  53. 53 Dumpling December 1, 2007 at 10:01 pm

    @ Susie

Start with Shampure. It’s wonderful. You can really use any of them but the Shampure is just their classic line and you can’t go wrong with it. The smell is Aveda’s signature scent and you will love it. It smells so good that you don’t even need perfume after showering. The scent on your hair will linger. It has some sandalwood notes and a lot of people really love it.

Also, Aveda’s styling products are great, too. I use a smoother/straightener called “Hang Straight”. Not only does it smooth the hair but the shine is incredible (the shine is the real reason I use the product, I don’t even care about the straightening part). This product is to be used by people who like to use a brush to straighten their hair as they blow-dry it. The heat of the dryer helps activate the shine. That’s because the product contains marshmallow root which is a natural shine enhancer.

Their facial products are also heavenly. But unless you are VERY familiar with your own skin I would recommend getting an esthetician’s recommendation on what to buy first. The products are good but certain things are made for certain kinds of skin, so ask for help.

If you have the good fortune to be able to get to an Aveda salon and can afford it, go for a facial some day. THAT is a treat.

  54. 54 Dumpling December 1, 2007 at 10:05 pm

Also, don’t know if you girls know this, but you are supposed to switch out your shampoo and conditioner every few months. So if you like Aveda and also Biolage, then use one for 3 months (only one), then put it away and use the other one for 3 months, then put it away and go back to the other one, and so on like that.

  55. 55 Dumpling December 1, 2007 at 10:07 pm

PopSeoul’s advice is spot on. I hope you girls have learned lots of new info on beautifying your hair from this post! :)

  56. 56 peepoo December 2, 2007 at 3:02 am

Dumpling…if you’re not working for Aveda already…you should be! :) Great advice. I’m not a big fan of the Rosemary Mint b/c it tends to dry out my hair but I do like Shampure. Aveda also has great products for men. I’ve gotten several guys hooked on it b/c it smells so natural, they don’t feel girly using it. :) Another really nice brand of haircare products is Kerastase. But keep in mind that (like some have mentioned already), it really is normal to shed about 50-100 strands of hair daily. And of course the longer your hair is, the more noticeable or worse it might seem.

I’m not an expert on haircare by any means…I just learn from my hairdresser friends. Now skincare on the other hand…… :P

  57. 57 jamjam December 2, 2007 at 3:08 am

haha dumpling do you work for Aveda? you sound like a salesperson for Aveda lol but thanks for the info! i think i might try it! though its a bit expensive!

  58. 58 Min A December 2, 2007 at 3:11 am

i agree…pantene makes my hair fall out too. x_X now i use thermasilk it makes my hair really puffy (too much volume). i think i should switch back to herbal essences.

  59. 59 Rayne December 2, 2007 at 3:43 am

ah!!is that true?? pantene is crap?

lawl good thing i use garnier fructis! (which smells good xD) omg don’t tell me that’s a bad shampoo too! O.O

  60. 60 cathy December 2, 2007 at 6:25 am

Biolage shampoo is not sulfate free. It’s main ingredients have sodium laureth sulfate & sodium lauryl sulfate.

  61. 61 Star December 2, 2007 at 10:41 am

Haha i used to use Pantene but I wanted to try someting new so i stopped using it.

  62. 62 tangy December 2, 2007 at 12:48 pm

i<3 pantene….i use the ice shine stuff

it works soooooo well and my hair is so shiney and soft…probably why i play with it all through apush..lol

it’s affordable too…..bumble and bumble is so freakin expensive and doesn’t do anything

  63. 63 Susie December 3, 2007 at 12:12 am

Thanks Dumpling for the tips. :) I’ll try Shampure and Hang Straight. I went through a phase where I was trying Japanese shampoos like Kanebo’s Resche and Shiseido’s Fino(I felt that asian countries should have formulas best for asians hair). My hair felt nice but after awhile it felt a little dry. I think their shampoos have too much detergent. I read that shampoo shouldnt lather up too much else it will strip your natural oils too much.

  64. 64 Creamcreamstar December 3, 2007 at 1:16 pm

just like pantene to pick a plastic/fake celeb for their unhealthy/crappy product.

  65. 65 kim ae-ri February 18, 2008 at 3:29 am

“L’oreal Elseve Nutri Gloss shampoo” is the best for me.

  66. 66 ally March 25, 2008 at 2:02 pm

    Kim Ahjoong looks so fake.

An obvious product of plastic surgery.
