At least for U.S. entertainment show, Entertainment Tonight where the exclusive clip of the upcoming Wachowski directed film, Speed Racer was shown, they conveniently forgot to mention the “world star’s” name. Yes, the show did not acknowledge Rain’s (Bi) existence. Did these industry insiders not watch Stephen Colbert declare Rain’s world status? All the show stated was that Matthew Fox, who plays Racer X, caught a punch and went on to interview the U.S. actor.
Poor Rain. He just missed a golden opportunity to be in the U.S. spotlight.

I was watching E! last night and when I saw the clip I was like “OH! Maybe they’ll mention….” And then the clip was over lol It was awkward I guess because I’m a Rain fan and his existence wasn’t mentioned at all. I somehow knew it would be on this blog haha
BUT
The clip was about Matthew Fox NOT Rain so I don’t think it’s a big deal. He got TV time and that’s a good thing imo. I’m sure they’ll be promoting the movie tons and will mention him later on. He’s not the star of the movie so I really don’t expect them to be giving him tons of air time.

Rain is by and large unknown in the US. Don’t look for him to get any attention here.
like everybody else above said, this video was about Matthew Fox and even Emile (the starring actor) did not get a mention. However, Rain isn’t that well known outside Asia so let alone the U.S, it’s mostly asians and people who watch Kdramas (like myself ^_^) from outside countries that know him so I wasn’t too surprised that he wasn’t mentioned at all.

Plus Rain being voted by Time magazine as the most influential person was only for the online poll; he was not in the magazine’s actual list, so you can’t use that as a reason why he should be mentioned
But come next year, that might change if he makes a great impression in the movie

I’m just waiting for him to touch the bridge of his nose and it’s gonna be deja vu … it’s the same expression in the “In My Bed” MV and the Kdrama Ijuksa.
They do seem to be ignoring him. Of course, if it keeps up this will only scream of racism–giving media time to all the caucasian actors and none to the Asian actor doesn’t look good.

In true Rain fashion, I heard the guy practised his butt off on his diction and pronunciation, so I think it will be quite good and surpass most people’s expectations.

I’m am definitely watching Speed Racer because it looks good. I hear a lot of complaints how it looks too cheesy and cartoony, but “hello” isn’t that what it’s adapted from? A cheesy cartoon from the 60s-70s or something? Also, it’s suppose to be a family-oriented movie, it cannot be done like The Matrix or V for Vendetta!!! What lame critics there are online. The movie will be fun.
