joe - obviously you know a lot about Korean politics and you are also a supporter of Lee Myung-buk. However, this is not a political forum. This is a celebrity blog. There is no need to go into detail about the history of sleazy and corrupt politicians.

But just be patient. The truth will be revealed eventually on Korea's new president.

obviously, you (the writer of the article) have no idea what is going on in korean politics...there are many different angles you can look at the situation for lee myung bak's nomination...first, the economic climate in korea is sooooooooo bad with "retard roh" (RR) and "sleazy DJ" (SDJ)that the korean public is willing to forget and forgive lee myung bak's blatantly shady past and if you're in the political loop and read the papers everybody knows pres. roh and former pres. kim dae jung are in bed together pushing their communist agendas ever so subtlely, with Jung Dong Yong waiting to make it a threesome that wont happen now that he lost...think about it, the press rooms in the blue house have been shut down and access by reporters to government officials are limited if not totally restricted...two, the korean government has become bloated and inefficient, for the first time in history there is a massive deficit with the government taking out loans to make payroll, even with the significant tax hikes they cant balance the budget...three, it is common knowledge among most koreans with any sense of "noon-chi" that RR and SDJ have embezzled the most money out of the korean government among all korean presidents, for example, it is estimated that RR's nephew pulled in over $100million with the "sea story" scandal, the pc bang casinos that was so prevalent a year ago...thats just his nephew, imagine what he's hiding...also it's estimated that SDJ has prepared $500million of his own money to make his son president in the future...folks this is pocket change for them, the saying goes "if former pres./general Jun Do Hwan's amassed/embezzled fortune is a mud hut, than SDJ's is a skyscraper"...finally, to sum things up, lee myung bak has good political experience, most seoulites agree he did a good job as mayor and dont forget he became chairman of hyundai construction in his early 30s...dont get too caught up on the corruption thing, what do you think lobbying actually is...and lee myung bak didnt pay off any officials (government prosecutors' office to be specific), they are not pursuing the matter bc first, the public unanimously voted for him, meaning pursuing the matter would be unpopular with the korean people bc they too have future political aspirations, two, now that he's president no one wants to screw with him bc he's their new boss......to answer a few questions posted above, vote buying is a normal practice in korean politics, thats how SDJ one his presidency by getting JP on his side, everybody knows JP was paid for his cheungchungdo votes...there's even a sort of a "pot of money" the presidential candidates put millions into and it's pretty much winner takes most and if you have a certain percentage of total votes you can get some of it back, if not it's all gone...lee myung bak promised to clean the poor credit histories of people that qualify and even wipe out credit card debt up to $5000...and he plans on getting rid of older government officials, in fact he plans on slashing many governmental positions, he said "the government needs to go on a diet"...and celebs support him bc they get preferential treatment when their candidate wins, i dont know their names but at least three actors/comedians pop up in my head that became rich after RR won bc back then he had a lot of celebs support him.....so to those who think celebs and politics dont mix, you dont know korean history or culture...our revered pres./dictator park had his 20 yr old mistress (a famous singer/actress at the time) at his side when he was shot to death, pres Jun's wife had a group of soldiers gang rape his mistress who is a famous actress and one of the college prof involved in the scandal with the false college degrees...sorry dont know their names just their faces....
