So Yoo-jin and other actors were out to support front runner of the presidential candidate, Lee Myung-bak of the Grand National Party.
Why oh why?
There must be something going on under the table. Or these stars need to get their head checked pronto.
Why would someone in their right mind want to support a candidate who is obviously corrupt. Yes, we know the presidential candidate was recently cleared of stock manipulation of his investment company “BBK,” but that does not prove that he is innocent as a lamb. Who really knows what really went on behind the scenes and out of the media’s discerning eye.
In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Lee Myung-bak paid off the officials to get his name cleared. Grease payments are what this country runs on (check out Samsung).
We hope that the people of Korea will choose more wisely for their next President.
Korea votes for their next president on December 19th, 2007. If you are a citizen of Korea, please vote for someone else.

lmao. too bad i have no idea about this.
hmm, i’m not really interested in politics, but ahjumma- i believe you need to loose some weight^^
nowadays, people (or teens are can vote) only care about Super Junior and what’s the latest trend. No one’s gonna pay attention to these kinds of stuff.
hey, most of us are ignorant people. As long as the person lives a comfortable life, that’s all it matters.
… Is that Kim Jae Won in the third picture?
… Aw crap, He’s too cute to be psycho.
people only care about Super Junior? Haha, sorry that was just really funny.
i never thought you could say korean and american so many times in a single comment. Anyway I don’t have any kind of knowledge on korean politicians so can’t really say anything about this T_T.
I think the elections in Korea are so shady. What’s with the trucks blasting songs basically made of the candidates names? And people coming up to you and holding up their fingers for the guy you’re supposed to vote for. That’s all I see these days ~ it’s quite annoying >_<
didn she later write on her cy that she was there for some meeting thing for like volunteer or sumthin and didn no that it was actually there to support. she wrote it was like the worst situation shed been in. I dont no i heard it from someone but wasn really listenin. apparently a lot of the people didn no where they were going to and some pulled out..
it’s actually known in korea that politicians are corrupt.. they are kinda like the gangs in korea .. that’s why there are reports that singers/actresses etc. had to sleep with the politicians when their company tells them to. a well known example is lee hyori
She may have been paid gross amounts of money. Thats what a campaign fund is for.
I think the Korean people want anyone but another “democrat” (I use democrat because the liberals change their party’s name so often. ie Millenium Democratic Party -> Uri) because Roh Moo Hyun was considered as a pretty bad president.
This sentiment is not so different from what the Americans are feeling right now. Anyone but Bush (anyone but another Republican)
The reason why I chose Lee Myung Bak over Park Geun Hye is that I feel that Lee Myung Bak has a vision for South Korea. Only a person like Lee Myung Bak could get public projects like the Cheonggyecheon accomplished. That project had its controversies, but 50 years down the line. Many people will appreciate it.
People (including you) probably love Paris. One of the reasons is because it was built so well. Paris wasn’t always like this. Before Baron Haussmann, Paris was mostly a slum. While rebuilding Paris, Haussman had to make a lot of controversial decisions. But in the end, Paris looks the way it does today because of Haussmann.
As for the BBK charges, what politician is not corrupt? Lee Hoi Chang? Please… That guy will turn out to become the Henry Clay of South Korea. How many times will he get to run?
Pops,
Every Korean politician is corrupt beyond belief. So the issue is competence, not corruption. And I’d rather Lee run the country than a communist amateur like Chung.
to yummy..
CHILL! =)
we get your point.
BUT let’s not start labeling the nations aite?
oh btw, i’m a singaporean and damn proud to be. =)
Also, please stick to entertainment, not politics.
You obviously have no idea what you are talking about here.
sorry to sound like a cynic, but korean politics in general is corrupt. they control everything and everybody, so i wouldn’t be surprised if so yoo-jin got paid off to do something like this. i mean, look at our korean national team, we get a horrible domestic coach because of political pulls, seniority, and money.
there you have it. the three rules to have success in Korea. sigh.
I support you… I’m a Ph.D. in Korean poltiics, and I can’t stand LMB- the others aren’t great, but I would vote to abstain.
Hyun Min - I agree, the liberal side is completely disorganized and too focused on their own infighting. But you have no idea how was feel about Bush over here, at least those of us who oppose him.. Roh might not be perfect, but he’s no where near the colossal screw up that Bush is, and he has pulled off some very clever moves that I think got underplayed in the Korean press.
YUMMMY - Korea’s only really been a real democracy since 1997 - ten years (no 1987 and 1992 don’t count because of even more rampant corruption and constitutional changes). I wouldn’t go celebrating your democratic credentials just yet. PS- democracy counts for very if all you ever talk about is corruption.
Also, to all of you Koreans telling Gyopo to stay out of Korean affairs- get over yourselves. They’re just as Korean as you are. Korea’s not an Island, and the world can see in. get a thicker skin, or you’ll never be the hub of Asia.
All I ever repeatedly hear is that Korea is full of corrupted politicians…they all about how to make their own selves filthy rich by taking the ppl’s money. So I have no siding.
I don’t know when it became acceptable to comment that someone should get their “head checked” because she supports a certain political candidate. I love PopSeoul and it’s “plastic fantastics”, but please don’t go off tangent with questionable comment regarding politics.
Also, I think -everyone- would appreciate it if you guys started citing links to certain claims you make. I don’t expect you guys to adhere to the standards of professional journalism, but at least link your sources so us readers can read more about the things you guys comment on. Thanks.
De,
Shut the hell up. Expecting retards on an entertainment forum to provide juristic evidence. LMAO.
What the hell? What’s the point of putting this topic up in this entertainment forum? I think it’s YOU, Popseoul, who needs your head checked. Sure…there were celebrities there, but it’s so insignificant to mention something that has so much to do with politics instead of entertainment.
Politics ALWAYS get people riled up don’t they?
Chill people. It’s an opinion. Take it with a grain of salt and move on.
so yujin has been under the radar lately after her big hits in 2002 and 2003. I wouldn’t be surpirsed if she got paid.
you guys are so funny..
what’s wrong with saying an opinion about the politics of a country you care about?
geezzz..
the reason why its here is because so yoo jin is a celebrity, an actress
if popseoul likes lee myung bak, then she would say that what so yoojin did was admirable..hmmm
ive been hearing about lee myung bak and his ways these past few weeks..
not that good for a presidential candidate
i find the person/s who posted about korean-americans pathetic
why the hell are so many celebs supporting HIM !?
So Yoo-jin looks like a chubbier version of Kim A-joong.
omg is that lee ji hoon and kim jae won??? HOT!!!!
wahahahha this is hilarious lol xD
Did he really promised to give away his entire wealth should he win the presidency? If he did, isn’t that vote-buying and shldn’t be allowed?
Korea needs a female president and all the people in the government body who is over 50 needs to be fired every year.
To all you idiots who think Korean politics are corrupt: all politics are corrupt. My god.
obviously, you (the writer of the article) have no idea what is going on in korean politics…there are many different angles you can look at the situation for lee myung bak’s nomination…first, the economic climate in korea is sooooooooo bad with “retard roh” (RR) and “sleazy DJ” (SDJ)that the korean public is willing to forget and forgive lee myung bak’s blatantly shady past and if you’re in the political loop and read the papers everybody knows pres. roh and former pres. kim dae jung are in bed together pushing their communist agendas ever so subtlely, with Jung Dong Yong waiting to make it a threesome that wont happen now that he lost…think about it, the press rooms in the blue house have been shut down and access by reporters to government officials are limited if not totally restricted…two, the korean government has become bloated and inefficient, for the first time in history there is a massive deficit with the government taking out loans to make payroll, even with the significant tax hikes they cant balance the budget…three, it is common knowledge among most koreans with any sense of “noon-chi” that RR and SDJ have embezzled the most money out of the korean government among all korean presidents, for example, it is estimated that RR’s nephew pulled in over $100million with the “sea story” scandal, the pc bang casinos that was so prevalent a year ago…thats just his nephew, imagine what he’s hiding…also it’s estimated that SDJ has prepared $500million of his own money to make his son president in the future…folks this is pocket change for them, the saying goes “if former pres./general Jun Do Hwan’s amassed/embezzled fortune is a mud hut, than SDJ’s is a skyscraper”…finally, to sum things up, lee myung bak has good political experience, most seoulites agree he did a good job as mayor and dont forget he became chairman of hyundai construction in his early 30s…dont get too caught up on the corruption thing, what do you think lobbying actually is…and lee myung bak didnt pay off any officials (government prosecutors’ office to be specific), they are not pursuing the matter bc first, the public unanimously voted for him, meaning pursuing the matter would be unpopular with the korean people bc they too have future political aspirations, two, now that he’s president no one wants to screw with him bc he’s their new boss……to answer a few questions posted above, vote buying is a normal practice in korean politics, thats how SDJ one his presidency by getting JP on his side, everybody knows JP was paid for his cheungchungdo votes…there’s even a sort of a “pot of money” the presidential candidates put millions into and it’s pretty much winner takes most and if you have a certain percentage of total votes you can get some of it back, if not it’s all gone…lee myung bak promised to clean the poor credit histories of people that qualify and even wipe out credit card debt up to $5000…and he plans on getting rid of older government officials, in fact he plans on slashing many governmental positions, he said “the government needs to go on a diet”…and celebs support him bc they get preferential treatment when their candidate wins, i dont know their names but at least three actors/comedians pop up in my head that became rich after RR won bc back then he had a lot of celebs support him…..so to those who think celebs and politics dont mix, you dont know korean history or culture…our revered pres./dictator park had his 20 yr old mistress (a famous singer/actress at the time) at his side when he was shot to death, pres Jun’s wife had a group of soldiers gang rape his mistress who is a famous actress and one of the college prof involved in the scandal with the false college degrees…sorry dont know their names just their faces….
joe - obviously you know a lot about Korean politics and you are also a supporter of Lee Myung-buk. However, this is not a political forum. This is a celebrity blog. There is no need to go into detail about the history of sleazy and corrupt politicians.
But just be patient. The truth will be revealed eventually on Korea’s new president.
