Before Wondergirls and “Tell Me” became a household word in Korea, the five Wonders had their share of embarassing moments. When they performed at the Blue House (Korea’s White House) on May 5th to celebrate Children’s day, the announcer introduced the five little divas as WonderGrass (원더그라스), instead of Wondergirls. Ouch!
Wondergirls’ other embarrassing moments included warming up for their performance when the music didn’t come on, not receiving a favorable response when they performed in front of older audiences (probably the elderly), seeing embarrassing picture of Sunmi in the newspaper and going to the sauna after their performances.
Watch out for top 5 embarrassing moments of Supernova, Girls Generation, Epik High and Big Bang through out the week on Super Junior’s Kiss the Radio.

The “wonder” in wondergirls

lol. that annoying song really got them set.
wow, supernova and girls generation already have a ‘top 5′ embarrassing moments list? and they’ve been out for how many months?
and um, what about a super junior top 5? if they’re going to point out other people’s embarrassing moments, they should point out their own… or wait, maybe it would be too hard to narrow it down to just 5 for them lol (i’m kidding! sj is not that bad! elves don’t hurt me!)
wonder glass? ..haha
^ Bwahahahah X’D
well koreans have a hard time speaking in english, period…
Wonder Glass?
It was probably way more embarrassing for the announcer.
The audience probably either thinks that:
1.) He can’t read.
or
2.) He’s dumb and not up to date with the new popular dance of the country.
Supernova?
For some reason, I didn’t think they were popular enough to actually have embarrassing moments.
hahahaha won der ger lass
other than modeling w/ snsd, i haven’t really heard big activities from super nova. mnet should stick with making r&b/ballad groups since that’s what they’re good at.
wonderglass. hahaha.
can’t wait for the other groups’
supernova. i cant wait XD
The saddest thing about the Hallyu wave is probably the lack of longevity among the Korean artists since there’s obviously no talent involved. The only thing production companies can bank on is their young and innocent image I’m sorry to say Wondergirls in the perfect example of this. They are packaged and scripted to such an extend that there’s no way their career can go beyond say the age of 25??? But I guess there are still enough audience to market them so good thing they’re striking while the iron is hot.
wahahahaha WONDERGLASS~~~
lol
i live in the US.
that means i cant hear the Kiss the Radio program.
that sucks.
unless its on at a specific time/channel.
@Hokensongirl: You’re either a resentful Japanese or Chinese girl, but it doesn’t matter, because obviously you don’t know what you’re talking about. The Korean stars must have at least some talents (actually some of them have a lot) or else they couldn’t even debut in Korea, nevermind make the Hallyu wave. Considering how current pop singers anywhere don’t last beyond few years in their careers, if WG manage to stay active as a group until they reach their mid-20’s, then I’d say that they did pretty well for themselves. Plus, there’s always a solo career in music or acting for each to pursue, if they choose. And please let us know when you celebrate your own 50th anniversary as a pop star, thanks.
Korean Ahjushi, ummm…I heard the wondergirls sing live and they are TERRIBLE. I’ll call that “some talent” for making noise. If it wasn’t for Park Jin Young’s catchy tunes…these fugly girls don’t have much to show.
i bet for real and dumpling are the same person or one in the same. resentful jealous freaks.
Wonderglass?! Bwahahaha! But I guess it happens sometimes? I guess the announcer didn’t pay that close attention to their name.
@Korean Ajusshi: Does Hokensongirl have to be Japanese or Korean to say that? Why bother to say a race at all? She could be any race for all you know. I find it insulting that you added a race.
don’t go dissin on the Wondergirls i love their song! see if you can come up wit something better
I don’t like WG either. They can’t sing. But i have to admit JYP is wayyyy toooo talented in manipulate the current Korean music scene. SEX def. sell, in this case it’s SOLD, especially from these 5 underage teenagers.
I prefer the singers to be at least 18 to debut.
But as a girl, i’ll let F.T Island go…They are just tooooooo cute and they have THE TALENT and THE VOICE anyway.
FOR GIRLs, must be at least 18, else you’re hoe-ing yourself too soooooon !!!!!
@ for real:
what youve heard is (sorry wg fans) true..
i love yoobin, adore her but if someone argues with the fact that they cant really sing(especially so hee.. who is adorable enough to make people just look at her and not actually listen to her), then i dont know..
however, their songs are catchy.. especially irony..(which i like hearing more on cd than during their live performances)
i like WG at first I was like they can’t sing but they are
getting better I prefer them compared to Girls Generation
sohee deserves an award for being as popular as she is with that horrible voice.
i bet alot of ppl can com eup with a better song then “Tell Me” I really don’t understand what ppl are talking. about. Everytime i hear that song I get a headache. I’m not disising the WG but…please.
But they are cute girls.
For real:
“If it wasn’t for Park Jin Young’s catchy tunes…these fugly girls don’t have much to show.” How many performances have you seen really? They have other songs too, not only “Tell Me”. And about WG not having much to show? They’re already showing other talents aside from singing to PJY’s catchy tunes.
It’s you that I’m sorry for because you don’t have anything to show at all except using foul language to bash people day by day.
DBSK’s GirlFan:
Five underage teenagers? Maybe you should get your facts straight before saying that. And at least 18 before debut? Well two of them are already 18 and one is 19.
You’re just jealous of them for being cuter than you are.
@DBSK fangirl: Whats wrong with debuting young!? Becoming an entertainer has nothing to do with age.
Look at BoA (or that trot singing boy…)
Anyways, honestly, I really dont care if they can sing or not. When I hear a song I like, I hardly think of “oh, I’m not going to buy this song because they really didnt ’sing’ it.. its all computerized and fixed, etc etc”. if I like the song, I’ll listen to it.
almost like how in every one of these ‘who pops it best’, someone will say at least once “I wont choose this person simply because her face was fixed”, even when she obviously looks better than the other. I honestly dont care whether she fixed her whole body. If she looks better than the other, she looks better- period.
Oh please, they are as ugly as hell. Their song are like the sh!ttiest one can come up with.
And you’re the one who need your fact straight!
One of them turn 18 in August 2007 and the other turn 18 on May. How the hell did they already 18 when they debut, you dumb ass. When they debut, they have 3 1992 mem and 2 1989 mem. But one 1992 mem decide to quit, so the old ass 1988 is just added recently.
You know nothing and still decide to flap your mouth.
Remember to do some research b4 mumbling!!!!
calm down DBSK’s GirlFan.
but she has a point, popseoul, researching CAN help…
First off, some of you people need to chill out. And as soon as you start bashing the people posting instead of defending your own point, you should know that all your credibility goes out the window.
Maybe the Wondergirls don’t have much talent. I’m not a fan, so I wouldn’t be able to say. I will say, though, that I wouldn’t be surprised. From the little I have seen, it looks easily reproducible.
But hey, they’re still famous (sort of) — whether they have talent or not. Hell, Paris Hilton is famous just for being famous. That girl’s best talent is making herself look like a fool.
is it me or does it say wonder gRass? – why do people keep saying wonder gLass?
@DBSK’s girlfan: First and foremost, calm down. Why are you making a big deal whether they’re 18 or not!? Honestly, was there was an official age limit in the first place, so why the big fuss over their age? Who ever said they had to be 18?
And although I do agree if POPSEOUL! could do a bit more researching, I just like to go the “ABOUT” section of POPSEOUL! where it says:
“POPSEOUL! is for entertainment purposes only. POPSEOUL! contains published rumors, speculation, assumptions, opinions as well as factual information. [Information on this site may or may not be true and not meant to be taken as fact] POPSEOUL! makes no warranty on the validity of any claims.”

There are going to be HIGH expectations for their next album, not just the music– but their concept.. i find it difficult to imagine them without their current retro 80s style.
“Their song are like the sh!ttiest one can come up with.”
But you still heard of them LOL ^^
^ Because, they are hard to avoid knowing about.
They’re in the news or on shows all the time.
Really, only two of them are talented – the two eldest girls. The girl who left the band had talent as a dancer as well, but if you saw her live, her rapping skills left much to be desired.
For those saying “You’re just jealous of how pretty they are!” , I think that’s silly. They are, at best, average looking girls. Half of the girls I’ve seen on soompi are prettier. You know, it IS possible for people who aren’t celebs to be beautiful as well.
Oh, but, I find the new member to be quite gorgeous, IMO. Especially before they cut her hair.
Ohgeeze:
Well the article said on May 5th and Tell me didn’t come out till later in the year. Wonder girls debuted around February and to my knowledge, they weren’t that popular before their first album.
Anyways, some people need to chill. Everyone can have their own opinion.
I don’t honestly think WG are going to make it that far. I mean, yes, they have talent to a certain extent, and they can produce catchy songs and attract an audience, but honestly, their CD sales don’t reflect their success and popularity. For a group that has many fans, they sure don’t have good sales. I mean I guess 40,000+ is pretty good for four months of sales, but rival groups like SNSD, whose album has been out for a month and a half, has sold over 70,000 albums. They were even named the best selling artist in the month of November, which is when their debut CD came out. If WG wants to stay on top of the competition for girl bands, they def. need to put something out that makes people want to buy it.
Isn’t it great how 5 ugly and semi-talented girls can become the next best thing to slice bread, with a few sexy dance moves, a catchy hook song while wearing adolescent school girl clothes. Now that is HOT!!!
JYP is a genius to give all the young boys and ajashi’s something to drool over.
I love the Wondergirls. I predict SoHee will have a bright future out of the 5. She has the IT factor for some reason. She’s not beautiful, but their is something sexy and special about her.
Girls Generation are a lot better looking and most all can sing, but they all look similar and I no one really stands out.

POPSEOUL
I suggest you make a new category for SoHee that is separate from the Wondergirls.
Well … looking on the right side, b4 the WonderGirls tag… there is a Witch Yoo-Hee tag, maybe you can edit it to witch Sohee and start insert Sohee-related article into it.
DBSK’s GirlFan:
You need to CALM DOWN.
Are you also some crazy Super Junior, Heechul fangirl?
Are you jealous Heechul is a fan of SooHee?
( Are you ALSO jealous because they’re probably 100x prettier and can sing better than you? )
And why are you making a big deal about them debuting at such a young age?!
BOA FREAKING DEBUTED YOUNGER.
Geez, woman.
YOU HATE WONDER GIRLS. KEEP IT TO YOURSELF, DAMNIT.
DBSK’s GirlFan:
In Korea, you’re basically 1 yr. old the moment you’re born. As of now, two of them are 16, another two are 19 and one is 20. And they just debut this year, so that makes some of them at least 18 during their debut.
Now, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that sometimes singers who aren’t the prettiest or the most talented, or both (in the case of WG, perhaps) can become pretty popular. It’s not the first time it happened nor will be the last time. So, maybe WG just really got lucky with lots of help by JYP, but so what? If there is one business where luck plays a crucial role every time, it’s definitely entertainment and we all should be aware of it. Nope, they may not be the best out there, now, but WG are still good enough and cute enough as a group to pull it off. Maybe that’s exactly their charm – less-than-super-talented girls working really hard to deliver their best. Quite inspirational, I must say.
@okay:
Do you know what is freedom of speech?
I don’t like them and i don’t like to keep it to myself.
So i will bash them.
And no, I HATE Suju, i DON’T like Heechul either, and I don’t give a DAMN rat tail if this girly man is a fan of the round-face girl Sohee or not.
I have no interrest in becomming a singer so why compare me with them? Compare them with others females artists out there. Compare their vocal with Lee Soo Young, Big Mama, In Soonie, Lim jeong hee, Shinji, jang Yoon Jung, Leeds, Gummy…. why compare with me? They are nothing than some squirking chipmonk b4 these ladies.
And, I don’t believe in Korea’s age scale. It make me age faster…. so no, don’t buy it XD.
And it’s not only that I have prob. with them b/c they debut at such a young ages, i don’t like them b/c this is the best girlgroup KPop can offer right at this moment? Some annoying ear-piercing teens like this? Bleh bleh.
you sure take the “Freedom of Speech” amendment pretty seriously, DBSK’s GirlFan
aiyah! they need plastic surgery!
Wondergirls are set great example for the ugly. You to can be popular and adorned by …. well Ajashi’s just wear short puffing mini-skirt and give that “Oh No” cutie look with the hand on the face. Well, a padded bra will help a lot too. Until you get enough money from the Ajashi’s to afford some plastic surgery. Go go go wondergirls!!
WonderBabies!!!!
there’s sth wrong with DBSK’s GirlFan
@DBSK girlfan: You really are awkward. I’m sure its no secret there are many more singers out there who are waaday better. But everyone has their reason for liking them.
On the other hand, why in the world do you spend so much time bashing them if you hate them?
@KanginsFutureGF
I hope you do know that the 1st amendment in the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution is the cornerstone of all civil liberties. The Supreme Court, since 1925, has recognized this individual right to be illuminated over the Federal government as well as the State government. They have also acknowledged that democracy could not be run without a free press, without dissent from its people, and without a free market of ideas. I think you should take the 1st amendment extremely seriously and know that your rights are extremely important in every context, whether it is a simple rumor mill blog or on a street corner.
@DBSK’s GirlFan
It seems that all all-girl pop groups are popular very quickly; however, this popularity doesn’t last very long. If you just ignore them, they’ll soon fade away like nothing else.
It’s okay to advocate a position where you do not like the Wondergirls, but you should expect to be rebutted by others who do not share your similar point of view.
In my opinion, I find that these 5 girls, plastic or not, are attractive. The “Tell Me” song in itself is an acquired taste–much like coffee–that grows on you as you listen to it.
