The 2007 MBC Drama Awards was a big enough honor to bring out the Bae Yong-joon out from Neverland to accept the award for the Grand Prize (대상) the highest honor and also the Netizen’s Choice Award.
Yun Eun-hye and Gong Yoo were recognized for their outstanding acting skills for the popular hit drama, Coffee Prince.
The MBC Awards recognizes excellence in acting by being generous with its recognition. Two persons from each category for the best and outstanding actor/actress awards are chosen (sometimes translated as ‘top excellence’ and ‘excellence’ awards). Based on such a system, it seems that almost everyone on an MBC drama picked up an award. A win-win situation for the actors, but at the same time, the seriousness of the awards is watered down. Do they really need 2 separate categories for “top excellence” and “excellence” in acting?

Bae Yong-joon brings matching crutches to the show. Even though the man is ajummafied, his penguin suit is no frills and classic.
Jang Hyuk. The actor recently announced that he and his pilates instructor gf are expecting a baby in February next year. The scandalous actor’s white tie is nearly invisible against his shirt of the same color.
Joo Ji-hoon. We all know that the man needs to munch on a few big macs, but trying to bulk up by wearing a rabbit fur vest/jacket/bolero over his jacket is not trend-setting, it’s a fashion faux-pas. Poor rabbit.
Lee Joongi is wearing a cream jacket that looks 3 sizes too big. In fact, it looks like they photoshopped his head to this outfit. And what’s with all the tanner? Or should I say, “color lotion”
Lee Jia. The actress admitted to designing this dress all by herself. She should have just kept it in the closet. Notice that the string from the word “brightest” on the side of her dress is long enough to be twirled around the finger ? this one is not bright, it’s dumb. Also, the hair in the face, clunky louboutins and the white chiffon prom reject dress screams fashion disaster.
Lee On (Coffee Prince ) keeps it simple and in reverse constrast with the black shirt and white tie.
Gong Yoo. The cute Coffee Prince star will be heading out for his military service in January. This will probably be one of his last public appearances, so enjoy. Check him out here. (in Korean)
Han Jimin in a pale shade of dust. The dress must be borrowed because it’s 2 sizes too big. The makeup, on the other hand, specifically the shiny and rosy cheeks and shimmering eyes look great. Check out her style here. (in Korean)
Koh Eun-mi. Another ill-fitting and ddm looking white dress.
Kong Hyojin. Known for her less than stylish picks, the pinkish chiffon number seems to work. And she’s the got the thin stems to pull off the ankle straps. Check out her dress at all angles here.(in Korean)
Lee Phillip. Like Joongi (check above), the man has dipped into the color lotion that’s a few shades darker than his real skin color. Not only that, I think he’s got more makeup on… the darkened eyebrows and rosy colored pout. He just looks fake. Check him out here. (in Korean)
Lee Yoonji. Can someone tell these young actresses to pick something that fits them instead of wearing crinkled wax paper? Also, if the dress needs to be shortened into a micro mini, then please hem it so it looks professional and not like you pinned it up with some safety pins. Ugh. Check out a short clip of her here. Nam Sang-mi knows how to pose (with 1 arm resting on the hip), but she needs to work it more. But with such an ugly 2 toned dress, there is only so much you can do. The style is ok, but the color ages her 20 years. Check out her style here. (in Korean)
Park Jung-a gives Hyori a run for her money with this simple shimmery peach dress. It’s elegant and hugs her curves all in the right places. A winner. (Park Jung-a picked up an award for Radio)
Park Shin-hye. Can’t figure out what her angle is. Is she trying to be a chic painter (the hat), a glamourous star (the long gloves), casual (glad garbage bag dress), or sexy huntress (strappy shoes). All put together, this outfit is a disaster.

Sorry to say this, but Lee Jia didn’t really deserve some of the awards she got, except for the Best New Actress award…she only won so many because she benefitted from being Bae Yong-joon’s leading lady which is why she won the Popularity Award and Best Couple Award cause of his fans.
No bias aside but Bae and Lia shouldn’t have won Best Couple…I see at least 2 couples better than them, like the couple from Coffee Prince and Time Between Dog And Wolf.

Lee Seo-jin is really ascending fast. He also got an award last year at SBS’s. Honestly, I feel that his facial expressions lack ‘colours’…….something to the effect of being ‘carved’ out of wood! No offense.

A couple of things:
1) Joo Ji Hoon’s rabbit fur bolero has quite possibly got to be the gayest thing I’ve ever seen. Even drag queens would probably pass on that look…
2) I agree with you about Lee Jia…I mean, it got her attention since I’m guessing she’s relatively unknown but really…the loafers with heels? Ugh.
3) I really really like Gong Hyojin’s dress, but her hair is veering dangerously towards Bada’s previously disasterous locks.
4) I’ve always thought Park Jung Ah was beautiful and this proves it.
5) YEH: Really? Really? Did you really think people weren’t going to know it was a wig? And what is with the harem pants?

You know how at the circus there are these clowns that walk on stilts? That’s how YEH looks right now. At first, just looking at the pictures, I thought the outfit was cute, but after watching the clip, I saw what Popseoul was talking about. It just looks weird! When she is walking, it looks like her legs are connected to her back with no torso in between (like the clowns on stilts are all legs). I believe the concept of the outfit was cute, but it was made all wrong! If the waist-up portion of the jumpsuit was way more formfitting, then the outfit would have a torso, and it wouldn’t look like it went from her bust straight to her legs. Then the outfit would look like a sexy jumpsuit. ^_~

Hooray for Gong Hyo Jin! She was awesome in [Thankyou]. And here she looks runway worthy. The “known for her less than stylish picks” comment is a little misleading though- she’s always been a risk-taker in the fashion stakes, occasionally a little too left-of-centre, but on the whole, she pulls off her personal style effortlessly.

I agree about EJA’s outfit. I’m not liking her in general, so the outfit doesn’t help. I was shocked to read that she is around 27 years old. She seems very, very young like a teenager. I thought she was around 21 or 22. She kept doing this “thug” chest beating thing whenever she faced the camera during the awards. She did it once on stage with BYJ and again later in an interview. It’s just so incredibly childish, this “goth/punk” persona she is trying to create for herself.

No offense to anyone or any ajjumas, but i think Bae Yong Joon is superugly. In drama I can overcome almost anybody from their ugliness almost but I just couldn’t do it when I watched Winter Sonata. It got so bad that I stopped watching it at ep. 14. I thought I was doing pretty well when i was watching the school part but later he got uglier. I think he has the gotten uglier recently too with his really bad hair.
P. S. Joo ji Hoon really does look bad in the fur, although i still like him. Thank god he didn’t put on as much foundation as he did last year. Yoon Eun Hye looked really pretty and at first i thought it was a dress too bad it wasn’t or else i would totally love it.
i agree Jang Hyuk is a way…..better actor then BYJ! and Jang Hyuk in thank you was amazing, it was a great drama. MBC are clueless.

Hello, I am from Canada and now vacationing in the Philippines. My friends here are planning to visit Korea this April because of the Korean dramas they have watched. I am also interested to go to Korea but not this April. I am trying to influence them to go when Korea is having their movie/drama actors/actress awards. But I don’t know when this will happen. Are you able to inform me as to when and where this event will happen? I have bought and watch so many TV series that I’m curios to see them in person like everybody else.

I watched Princess Hours “Goong” and Joo Ji Hoon was handsome in the drama series. Well, he has his bad angles in photos but in general he is handsome. I think he really has to gain a little weight though. I hope to hear more news about him in the future.

Perhaps my expectation on Mr. Bae is higher than any other entertainers. I saw Mr. Bae’s passion throughout the drama, Legend, however, I feel that the quality of the project, Legend, wasn’t portrayed as much as it could have been (this time around).

Watch the whole legend first before saying malicious remarks on LJA, she worked hard on her roles and did action scenes that even men find difficult to do. She deserves respect for what she has done. And you? what are you now, you’re not even popular, you’re just jealous of her.
