Big Bang released their first Japanese mini album titled “For the World” on Friday, despite the heated controversy around their latest single “Fool.” According to Korean Netizen Investigators, Big Bang’s “Fool” was a direct rip off from Japanese band Daishi Dance’s “Piano” but master YG doesn’t care because they are not “real” music critics.
And master YG doesn’t seem to care that much about the Japanese teens either. Big Bang’s first Japanese mini album was recorded entirely in English, not Japanese. But he did change names of three members to make it easier to pronounce. In Japan Taeyang will be SOL, Dae Sung, D-Lite and Seung Ri, VI (VICTORY). G-Dragon and Top will maintain their generic stage names.
Master YG’s strategy for Big Bang is an improvement from Se7en’s still pending US debut where all he did was brag about the producers he met, but Big Bang’s entry into Japan doesn’t sound too promising either, especially because the BB boys frequent the hospital and plagiarize without shame. Anyhow, good luck in Japan boys!

not to mention their music video is very ignorant (watch the first part — i doubt anyone would find it funny if they imitated a mexican, indian, etc, etc)….. shame on big bang!
that’s so crap. people always tr to make things out of something that isn’t even right. are the netizens scared that Big Bang will overcome DBSK? Maybe so because we all know that BIG BANG is the best! and why should master YG care? As long as they know that it’s not true, also their true fans wouldn’t even believe such thing. BIG BANG FOREVER!
try**
POPSEOUL!, you really need to work on being humorously critical without seeming whiny. The angry-critic schtick is old and tired.
dont like it at all.
i think its their worst video
the whole slutty girl thing and the car is too much like a black ghetto mv
eckkkk.
wow so they are pretty much venturing out
well GOOD LUCK BOYS!!!
<3
“YG doesn’t seem to care that much about the Japanese teens”
That’s really ironic, considering that’s their target audience and consumer for these boys.
do asian artists who do stuff like this realize if they do make it to america how they will be criticized and probably dropped from their labels.
I can see people laughing at this video now. It’s like that one asian rapper Jin from about 5 years ago who had one single they played on t.v. here and he was never seen again. He was actually good and had lots of people behind him.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jin_Au-Yeung
they revived the tune from” how gee “in the 80’s…
i love big bang and good luck to them in japan. but i’m not too fond of this new mv, especially with the unnecessary slutty girls and the car.
ummm…next all they did was dance and whats with the girls and the car?
I saw their new MV and thought it was inappropriate because to me their still young teenage boys. Is it true that Seung Ri made a racist comment about African Americans??! I just heard it somewhere and some people are saying that it’s true…or maybe it’s just a rumor…
LMAO Even If they didn’t steal it, the piano has daishi dance written all over it.
http://www.mediafire.com/?atoeqnmbjmd
i do like them (or what i know of them) but their new mv is crap….no no to the half naked girls gyrating all over cars!
also this plagiarism issue was debated on the msg boards over at allkpop supposedly they mention in the album credits that they sampled from daishi dance. whatever that means.
Man, I just watched the MV. It was, to say the least, horrendous.
I remember I listened to them in the past too, but their style is just fake to me. (And always has been..which is why I wasn’t a huge fan of theirs in the past)
They try HARD. (IMO)
I mean..this song sounds like 50 other songs. Theres no originality there whatsoever.
LMAO I know this will set off those crazy BB fangirls! BRING IT.
D-Lite?
O_o
ok, so I listen to big bang. but this sounds exactly like a half-baked plan.
dun like their new MV + i am not digging their new satge names either ><
I think the writers of popseoul are too quick to point fingers. I don’t have the mini album, but if they did give credit to that Piashi song, then it isnt plagiarizing. GD may have just sampled the song. If he didn’t then yeah, then go point fingers all you want.
This makes me laugh.
Why bother attempting in Japan? Its not like they have no competitors in Korea.
DBSK and SS501 did pretty good in Japan [DBSK got like top 3 on oricon and 501 on 5th?]
I’d also like to add that why is it that almost all the articles and stories popseoul writers publish consist of bashing and complete negativity? Get some better writers please, and change the freaking vibe of the site. If you want to provide readers with korean “entertainment” at least do it in a manner that is not mean. Show some respect. Or maybe it’s because you guys don’t want to be taken seriously and are merely trolls of your own site.
i hope they, and the people who listen to this song, come to realize that trumpets don’t actually sound like saxaphones…
hahaha..u know jinusean sure had sum imput onto this mv…its not that bad..i still like them..
I’m telling you my honest opinion…the future of YG is in Big Bang and not Se7en…I really do believe they will drag se7en’s debut out as long as they can…and on top of that I think YG does more for Big Bang overall…so Se7en got played majorly. Shouldn’t have resigned for no money…ah well…live and learn.
Se7en supposedly is debuting sometime next year…I am doubtful.
even though im a fan i dont like this video at all
especially the slutty girl and the car
their english is ok
its kinda hard to understand what they are saying
thats dissapointing how lies and baboo arent original cuz i really liked it
yeah i’ve been hearing a lot about GD plagiarism. with the lies vd came from ginuwine my whole life. but wat ev. GD remixed it. i noticed with the whole ghetto music video thing is more accepted by the japanese than the korean. like if you check out other korean musicans k v then their j v. you’ll notice that they are a whole lot more sensual
yall always seem like you want someone to fail
i love bigbang. but they have to be original its getting lamee:p
If they’re trying to win the japanese market with this, then I think they should seriously reconsider. Both the song and the MV lacks creativity; we’ve all seen it before. What makes it so great? That they’re koreans rapping in english and who’s using it as an attempt to break into the J-market? Please.
I’m sorry to break the news to you penguin_x3; netizens aren’t pissed off that BigBang will over over DBSK in the J-market - because BigBang can’t (not with this kind of material anyway). In fact, I dont think any of DBSK’s fans feel threatened by BigBang’s attempt.
im not liking the mv either..or that 3 of the members will have different names..their names arent hard.if japanese people can say the names of dbsk memebers, they can say three more korean names.
Hmm.. The music, what the hell~
Totally no need for the sluts..
An all English rap song? Sounded really awkward.. Their English is GREAT, but just sounds awkward considering their previous music.
Cussing?? Umm.. WHY?! SOUNDED SOOOO STUPID! If they cussed in Korean, I wouldn’t have known, and thought of it sexy ;P
But.. This isn’t..
They won’t make it in America.. They should just stick to the countries surrounding their home~
They need to step up for their target audience in Japan.
i believe they can make it anywhere…
go BIGBANG!
just workhard boys!
i remember reading somewhere that YG did say that the credits for hot issue very clearly stated that fool sampled parts of piano.
yeah well the how gee video was really stupid. they were trying to emulate the american rap videos too much.
I don’t like this mv but I do like Big Bang a lot. I just hate the slutty girls and the annoying jazz music.
Complain, complain. Is that all you do?
Who cares about the video. Can we talk about how terrible the song is!!?? I can’t believe this is the best YG could come up with. They would have been better off releasing one of the new English versions of the previous singles.
BIG BANG is precious.
I’m not one of those “crazy BB fanatic girls” but seriously, these boys have major talent and their songs (esp. the one G-Dragon himself wrote) brought a new kind of music sound to the Korean music industry.
but this new song and mv… ugh, seriously stupid YG better not turn the *big bang aura* down..
big bang seriously made a hugeee name for themselves in the korean market and as musicians. this better be the LAST sucky mv! this mv with the half-naked girls and cars don’t even fit the big bang style!!!!!!! don’t ruin them YG!!
I LOVE BIG BANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just don’t their new video.
Those girls looks so sluty!!!!!!!!!
I don’t care if their music is copyrighted,
I still love them.
If you want to bash, bash Super Junior.
They are kind of getting on my nerves now.
Anyways, I am not a crazy fan.
I think that they are very talented.
It’s been a long time since I heard some real music.
I been a kpop fan for a long time.
I actually like the old kpop more the the new one.
Big Bang is actually one of the groups that caught my attention.
I have to agree with some people about How Gee Mv.
I really don’t like the video.
The song is okay too. Only 3 of them sang in here anyways.
However, i still love all of their other songs.
Their English is way better than most of the other kpop singers.
I just hope YG don’t ruin Big Bang’s image.
Don’t be like SM with those crazy 13 guys!!
If they are going to try to make it in America, they should create their own style instead of sounding like every other crap song out there.
This song failed to deliver.
Why attempt on entering the Japanese market with an all English album? They should have just released this crap in Korea where their fans could just eat it up. “Ooooooh… there English is sooooo good!!!”, my ass! They may not sound so fobtastic, but their lyrics are definitely craptastic. The video was stupid, not because of the random girl on the car, but because of the stupid opening. They did what is called “black face”, it was originally used back in the day to imitate black people on tv shows because they wouldnt use real african americans. im not black and i find that completely racist and disgusting. tsk tsk… remember when Seung Ri aka VI said on a show that he was glad he didnt accidently walk into a black persons car cause we would have been shot during the little yg in new york mishap.
They’ve got Se7en beat in the English department.. but how does an English album spell success in the Japan market..?
i wear my sunglasses at night still 20/20????? lolz gah gotta love those big bang boys video was okay the girls and the cars couldve been left out song is okay they’ve dont better
oh and i agree with junsu_lover why did they have to change their names cause if japanese fans can pronounce junsu and yunho and changmin and yoochun and jaejoong im pretty sure they would be able to pronounce daesung, seungri and taeyang
Sorry but what Japan loves is either bubble gum pop (all the JE boybands) or jrock. The market for hip hop-ish pop/R&B isn’t that big. With that aside, I don’t really like the song or the MV. Kinda bland, nothing special.
Uh, you guys realize their targeting the UNDERGROUND scene?
I seriously didn’t think it was possible, but the MV made me despise the song even more. The music video was crap. I think I died a little while watching it.
Big Bang is indeed a very talented group, but seriously, are you sure this mv wasn’t some kind of joke by YG?
that was stupid, their rhymes suck
*sighs* I like Big Bang (not a HARDCORE fan or anything, but I do like them)… but what the hell are they doing? Or rather, what is YG doing? I always thought that in terms of being a producer, YG kind of sucks, he just kind of lucks out. In my opinion, Big Bang should be focusing taking over the Korean entertainment industry right now; sure, they did a great job in 2007, but what, they think they can go to Japan now?? I’m not doing this to compare DBSK and BB or anything, but I mean, at least SM waited long enough for DBSK to be safely established in terms of superstardom in Korea before having them go to Japan. And at least they’re singing in Japanese…??
Let’s not even get INTO the song. First of all, ENGLISH?! SO RANDOM. And RACISM? WTF?!
All in all, I don’t think Japan is the market for BB. I mean, if they’re not going to sing/rap in Japanese, might as well just do it in Korean. I understand that it would probably be really difficult to RAP in another language, so why don’t you boys just stay in Korea?
i love big bang, but not the video and this is the worst video they ever made plus, i can’t really hear what there saying..since it’s in english .
- i also agree about the sluty girls.
-also, i don’t get why would it be a japanese record when it’s in english ? that doesn’t make sense to me.
@ ohnoes & junsu_lover:
HAHAHA SERIOUSLY! And if they REALLY wanted to change their names, they could have just shortened them or something instead of coming up with 3 brand new names! but seriously, seungri, daesung, & taeyang can’t be harder than yoochun & changmin for japanese people!
I don’t agree with the MV’s concept at all considering that they are newcomers in the kpop scene and their fans are mostly very young teenage girls..what’s with the slutty girls doing in the video? I don’t think YG really understands what HipHop is all about, it’s not just about slutty girls, the clothes, the expensive cars etc.. I really liked BigBang’s previous songs and thought that it was different and creative but this song and Mv actually lacks all that..why is Yg making these boys grow up so fast..what is YG trying to promote? and I think I just saw bottles of acoholic beverage toward the end of the video..
lies mv was awesome
last farewell’s was decent
this mv sucked
any predictions for the next mv?
i adore big bang, but yes the song sucks & the mv just looks like a really bad rip off of black hiphop mv’s in the u.s.
top looks good though
not really digging their new materials
i miss the “we belong together” and “forever with you” days =/
err, the mini-album’s titled “For the World”. Make a guess why they sing it in English, people. =_=
They want to be known as international stars, that’s why it’s in English.
Y awn yes the song sucks, but the MV reminded me more of the Old Jinusean vids. Their other English song were much better and it just annoys me they decided to go with the crappiest one. Also for the Piano thing, i’m about 90% the beat is similar but the chords and notes are different. I don’t think that counts as plagiarizing , more on the lines of “inspired” or copied the style but not the song lols. Still their songs are good with the exception of the new half @ssed English one.
Not to be a freaky fan or anything, but Big Bang did not plagiarize. It states clearly in their album booklet/whatever that Fool samples Daishi Dance’s song.
what’s with the English names?? Are they implying that the Japanese cant pronounce the Korean names?? O_o Now have to “memorize” 3 extra names *roll eyes*
@Justme seriously i thought so too…but you know some people can’t make the connection from point A to point B. –; i thought it was obvious y they did it in English..but i was wrong. Also the members are learning Japanese, this was more of a test i guess. I wouldn’t be surprised if they release some real Japaneses songs this year.
I have to agree with everyone this time. I love big bang’s sound especially the beat and their new “japanese” mini album is awesome although I am surprised that none of it is in japanese and compared to other korean artists, their english pronunciation is really good. However I didn’t like this MV at all, the cars and girls is unnecessary and unoriginal. Also these boys look like little kids so the whole concept of the video doesn’t fit their appearance.
@Blinkable: “Are they implying that the Japanese cant pronounce the Korean names??”
Sometimes, even names that may seem easy can seem hard.. I guess. In America, the English name I had was ‘Lynn’ (린), but most of the Korean people I met said it was too hard, so they called me ki-lin (기린)(a name of an animal/all they had to do was add 기 before 린)So I guess I understand a bit :/
Anyways, I was bit… wait *crosses out ‘bit’* very disappointed at Big Bang -_-”
ah, when I said “a name of an animal” that sounded a bit wrong.
What I meant, ki-lin is apparantly the name of a giraffe, and I’m always being told how ‘tall’ I’am
so Lin -> ki-lin ^^
I’m a big Big Bang fan but this video sucked and so does the song choice. It’s not single material.
They were doing a great job with their previous singles and the video concepts. “Lies” and “Last Farewell” were all great songs with amazing videos. YG needs to reconsider his plan for the boys if he thinks this will open up the Japanese market for them. The video and song lack creativity and originality. They should have chosen a song where each member gets equal part considering this is their Japanese debut. Last time I checked Big Bang wasn’t a rap duo consisting of T.O.P and GD. Making this their debut song was probably one of the dumbest things they could have done along with the video concept. There’s nothing to this video and you don’t pay any attention to what they’re rapping about because of the half dressed hoes on top of the fancy cars.
What the hell were you thinking YG?
for the world is a throwback to late 80s hip hop (the likes of run dmc). Therefore, it wasn’t surprising to hear sounds that were too familiar. It’s a sound trend they’re trying to duplicate in asia. Its slowly appealing since the pop, ballad,r&b we hear so often isn’t what it used to be. On a positive note, while the how-gee video wasn’t great, their english is continuing to improve. Europe already has their song in the top 50.
I haven’t watched the MV yet so no comment on that.
But I agree that Big Bang’s music really isn’t that original. They have talent and I love them to death (G-dragon + T.O.P. <333), but even though I listen to their songs I wish their music was more creative. Have you guys heard We Belong Together? You can’t listen to that song and not notice the “similarities” it has with Mariah Carey’s hit, which happens to have the same exact title :O
I haven’t heard Fool or it’s supposed original Japanese version, but I don’t doubt that it’s a direct rip-off.

o-O
EW.
What the hell is wrong with them?
I actually LIKED Big Bang before watching this o-o;;
That video is plainly trashy x-x
And even the song.. I don’t mean to say that their older songs were marvelous, but they were catchy and were pleasant to listen to. This one sounds like.. a mix of a bunch of different rhythms that DON’T fit together..
Guh, hope they get back to what they were before x__x
And yeah, they OBVIOUSLY can’t sing in japanese..
They could’ve waited a couple more of months to learn the idiom and make an awesome song and MV to go with it, instead of giving us this crap.. I’m disappointed.
Oh POPSeoul, when will your entries include ALL relevant information and not talk about things that are old meme?
Since this song/MV was targeting towards underground hip hop, they have failed, again. It sounds just like the crappy mainstream hip hop that’s played everywhere.
Is this like wanting to walk before they can crawl?
for the world is a throwback to late 80s hip hop (the likes of run dmc)
A throwback? This is more like an embarrassment to the good hip hop in the 80s.
LOL OMG HAHAHAHAH.
Sorry i never liked BB =].
I dislike the song and the PV even more. YUCK!
I’m African-American and I love big Bang. I do think the latest MV could have been better but I dig the song. I like the old school vibe and their English is great. Compared to their others MVs this was kind of a step back and I wish it had included Daesung, Seung-Ri and Taeyang more.
Seriously guys, Big bang bashing again?
Their mini album “For the World” = english?? Sorry.. but the point is if they had a mini album in Korea that is in KOREAN. it makes sense that people would think if they debut in Japan they would sing in JAPANESE. but since their mini album is “for the world” i’ll forgive and let it slide.
The MV for How Gee is crap..at least this is established.
Now for the plagerising issue. I like BIg bang. I have mention before that i think big bang was a force onto themselves. Being a fan of big bang doesn’t make me blind. I actually first know Big Bang through “this love”..funny thing is-i was looking for Maroon 5 “this love” not Big Bang. But so what? I know “this Love” was a ripped off. But i liked how Big Bang twisted the beat a little. Becuase when it came down to it i seriously have to say i liked big bang’s “this love” more than the original. And mind you i LOVE maroon 5 (Sunday Morning is actually playing on my ipod right now). And seriously how can i not notice “we belong together” from MariaH Carey AND “a Fool’s Tear” as a wannabe B2K MV and song? I’m pretty sure the resemblence is undeniable.but i could care less becuase knowing all this crap i still like them becuase i see potential in them. I don’t think it matter to me if G-dragon admits he plagarised or not. It is more or less fact that he was at least “inspired” by those melodies.
Now about the marketing in Japan. I don’t think it is fair to compare DBSK and BB. they are obviously two different groups with two different concepts in two completely different companies. So obviously the marketing style will be different (that is why the not singing in Japanese is forgivable. it is most likely a different marketing strategy).
To Penguin_x3 i dont think DBSK fans are worried about BB being competition. They have bigger fish to fry like JE boys Hey!Jump San 7 ( or w/e their name is).
And for the record, i like both DBSK and BB ( not as much as i like Park Hyo Shin but that is another story).
this seems a bit adult-ish for big bang
but hey people sex sells. it doesn’t matter whether you like it or now :/
i myself am not a big fan of this video but oh well the japanese might. look at some koda kumi videos…its all fanservice, all for the money.
i LOVE bigbang.
but this song & music video was definitely not one of my favorites.
these boys are really talented & can sing really well unlike other groups [i'm not naming any names. so stfu if people are gonna bash me for this.]
but yeah i admit this..
slutty girls dancing & cars did over do it.
i miss the we belong together lalala dirty cash times “/
i agree. i don’t think they’re gonna succeed in “underground” japan. underground korean/japanese rappers are better than this. this song sounds too mainstream r&b on the radio. the song & music video doesn’t even make sense >_< they’re going too fast. why are they trying to go international after one big hit, “lies”? i don’t the other singles hit number 1 but stil semi-successful.
i thought big bang had promise after “lies” & “last farewell.” i thought they stopped having americanized videos and started showing more videos that had plot & unique style.
*think
I’m an avid kpop lover & listen to other music as well. As much as I enjoyed this single (esp with their improved english) and I have high hopes for them in their future, but honestly, I don’t find any originality in their music. Too many rip offs from western music esp 80’s music/disco era. Yeah, I know 80’s music is live again (gwen, etc) but what they did is just TOO much.
As for breaking into japan market/japan underground hiphop scene,… hm, definitely going to be tough….
Anyway, they’re still young. I guess a bit break for them doesn’t hurt at all…
big bang is getting too commercialised.
whats up with YG nowadays
i’m not feeling this song/pv at all.
let them do what they do. Trial and error but I sure love those cr8tive recreations shoes they have on. I’m waiting for my pair to come in.
good luck big bang!
OK I was starting to like them with their song Lies. Now after seeing this video, I don’t know. I think Epik High is much better.
As for using an english single to break into the Japaneese market. I has been done before. TVXQ did it with the english version of their song HUG. But still I want to know how good their Japaneese is.
I’m a fan of BigBang but I’d have to agree with most of the others here. The new album sounds weird considering their english lyrics sound weak (like trying to find words to fit the tune and ignoring all meaning).
And to not have a single word of japanese in the whole album when they are trying to break into the japanese market sounds so wrong I can’t get why they even tried.
Sigh… Not liking the english versions. It’s disappointing.. =/
@vivi: The English versions of their old singles are horrible. They totally ruined the Korean translation of the song.
I do like the songs of the album. They have a fun feel to them.
But I have to say of the video, so have none of you ever heard of a spoof video?
This is a total spoof on American hip/hop and I think it is totally hilarious as is.
And I think the Japanese fans will like it as such.
Learning Japanese is not an easy task and most of the people I know from Japan say their schooling is so amazing that most know English. So the age that most of their fans will be will understand this until they actually bring out a real Japanese album.
I love big bang…but How Gee’s MV sucked. What happened to their creativity and originality???! As much as I hate to say it, I think they need to re-focus because what they’re turning into is definitely not what made me a BB fan in the first place.
I’m getting frustrated at all the comments blaming Big Bang for plagiargizing Daishi Dance.
I mean, has anyone sat and listened through ALL of Daishi Dance’s “Piano”?
Could anyone find anything similar besides the two chords in the beginning of “Babo”?
I definitely couldn’t.
There is a fine line between SAMPLING and plagiarizing, and “BABO” was definitely not a rip off of “piano”. that’s for sure. Both songs have different feels, that when you try to compare both songs it’s hard to even find a similarity.
ANYWAYS, i think the marketing strategy for HOW GEE is actually decent. I know japanese people aren’t all that conservative (being japanese AND korean myself… i think i would know -_-;;; ) so half-naked girls would appeal to many….
maybe not? 0_0;;
Well Good luck to them.
Can anyone explain me to why they used Japan to try and go “international?”
Well, actually on the bright side, if most ppl(overseas) say this would flop in Japan, it probably won’t. (but that’s the case with DBSK & BoA etc..pop artists ; Summer Dream *blehhh* but it sold 100+k in Japan and broke record for a foreign artist..bla bla..etc.)
agree with whatever iseul said.
i prefer all their korean versions.
but stop the whole plagarising thing already
Everyone uses Japan to go international because it is 2nd in the world for the music industry. Belief is if you can be big there you have an good chance at the American music industry. Why? Who knows? At least that is what I have heard.
http://trashpile.net/upload/music%20market%20data%202007.jpg
this shows that japan has the world’s 2nd biggest music market. 1st is of course, the u.s.
we(america) send bands to japan as well to see if they can hold water. Usually US bands that do well there get signed soon after and come back to america.I’ve never seen it work in reverse. Big example is crystal kay. She is half american can sing, is pretty, speaks the language, and can dance and she has yet to debut here.

UH-HUH! I am not part of that blog site but I checked it and I have to agree! If you want straight to the point fact in english then go to KRNLOOP.
uh the how gee music sounds like one of jlo’s songs… *shrugs*
omgosh people! do you really not know that Japan is like one of the most sexified(if that’s a word) country? like seriously people freakin love sex there so of course there going to have half naked girls in the mv….but yes, I must admit the girls are a little weird….LOVE their styles though, everything they wear they look good in….they will definitly make it forsure in Japan, maybe the style will catch on the the Japanese people…and about my previous comment about the dbsk thing, you never know you know….DBSK is definitly high and mighty there, what if Big Bang beats them?(no offense to the obsessive DBSK fans) anyway I love BIG BANG no matter what and Randomperson is definitly right. they are mad talented and at least their giving credits people!
I think it’s a shame that so many Korean artists leave to Japan, regardless of how much better its music industry is. I admit that it is a good move for money, but we so often complain that kpop is dying; Instead of thinking that artists leave because of the declining korean music industry, people should consider it’s because the decent ones leave (BoA, TVXQ, SS501, Younha) that the korean music industry is on the fritz.
The abovementioned artists, no matter how many fans or anti-fans they have, were at least talented enough to make it onto the Oricon chart, and those artists are the kind that should help, iono, rebuild Korean Music instead of constantly being MIA. It’s sad to see that the only ones that stay in Korea usually do because of VISA/language problems or have just completely failed at entering the japanese market.
In another note.. I dunno how Big Bang’s style will work in Japan, because as far as I know, most of the Korean artists completely changed their styles to fit in the music scene over there (it’s really noticeable, BoA from bubblegum and cutsey songs to ballads, tvxq songs from loud and heavy to happy and light)
that’s right… the MV isnt that great
BUT I’m sure BB is the most talented korean boyband out there…
Maybe all the japanese thing is a mistake… but, they have to make mistakes before bcoming real stars… I mean you can’t become a real star 1 year after your debut….
Bashing much? Stop it popseoul.
That song sucks.
Well Well Well I hate to say I told you so. Ooop, I just did. Funny how people are getting upset over the MV when around this time last year Seungri made an ignorant comment about Black People. Hypocrites!
BB did not plagiarized.. the music is taken from an old song.. like what they did with This Love and We Belong together.. i believe its not plagiarize, just a REMAKE.. they even credit the original writer..
HOW GEE
Lyrics by Big Bang & Perry
Produced by Big Bang & Perry
Additional Arrangement by Brave Brothers
Original Writer: Brown James & Landro Giuseppe & Percali Mario
gosh people hating BB when you can tell that they don’t lipsync unlike DBSK.. you can say that they ‘dance’ hard during songs, but to be honest, their dance is not that hard.. or even powerful..
^lmao i LOLed reading your comment.
why not you try to dance like that(TVXQ’s) and even sing with it.
the song’s pretty cool. but the MV is.. *shrugs*
imo, it looks like its trying to hard to be like the western music videos. or maybe thats just me. not liking it.
i agree very much with jjiyul♥

Big Bang can and will win over DBSK in the J-market.Anyway DBSK isn’t even popular in japan…They didn’t even “win” in the J market…There’s still people who have no idea who DBSK is…You tell them “Johnnys” and they’ll go “YAMPI/AKANISHI JIN ETC KAKOII!!!” you say “DBSK” they say “?DBSK?Nani?” dbsk can’t even win over Heysay 7…a bunch of junior/high school students.

I LOL-ED at your comment too…Big Bang already mentioned how their music is americanized. From what I know DBSK dance and lipsyn and as far as I know Big Bang dance AND sing LIVE.Big bang is like the younger ones lesser experience then DBSK whose like the older ones with more experience…How ironic…
The MV…I can’t say that its great and i can’t say that its bad…its up to the japanese to decide
LMFAO @ 2.37 the girls trying to shake her non-existent ass!
Of course they wouldn’t know DBSK, anecia. They’re TOHOSHINKI in Japan. But at least the group’s been number 1 in the Oricon Charts and had been invited to numerous popular shows…
Though yeah, you may be right. They might not be known.
Anyway, are you from Japan? Because you sound like you know a lot about the country’s music industry…
bad song…and the MV doesn’t help.
love big bang but gota admit that the mv is obnoxiously ghetto..lies and last farewell were so well done. a bit disappointed with this one..anyhow still love them
I just wanna comment on the VIDEO:
I don’t feel the parody vibe, but I can’t take it serious either, I mean the boy in pink pants looks like someone from the village people and the girl couldn’t shake her booty if her life dependet on it!!!
@ana
Seungri was on a radio programme and he said that when BB were in America he got into the wrong van and got told off by the owner. Then he said that luckily the driver was caucasian cause if he was african-american he would’ve got shot. So yeah, it’s true.
FIRST: This video SUCKS!! I mean the girls in the video are you serious!?! Just seeing the one chick try shaking her ass in the video was plain stupid because she ain’t got no kind a booty to be shaking to begin with.
SECOND: I can’t believe they did a mv to the most annoying song on the mini-ablum. How Gee annoys the hell out of me. I gotta delete it from my ipod. “Raise the roof” are you serious!?! that is so OLD..no one says “raise the roof” anymore. Get with the progam BB and drop the “raise the roof” and say something better..
THIRD: Plagarism. If G-Dragon did then he should get in trouble. I mean it’s wrong regardless if you were inspired by these artists, if you took there work and made it your own then you should be in trouble that is plagarism. If you are inspired you should be able to do your own work w/o copying the original.
FOURTH: Racism w/ BB. Honestly I’m still not over Seungri’s racist comment. I LOVE BB and I am a fan but I’m not gonna turn a blind eye whenever they do something wrong and try to defend them. If they did something wrong I’m gonna call them on it. So Seungri making the racist comment a year ago is still wrong because neither he or YG have issued an apology. I thought maybe they won’t do something like that again but after seeing the opening of this video and seeing Seungri supposely playing the color person in the video with his unneccassary cussing in the beginning clearly points out that he has NOT learned his lesson.
The irony of it is that BB music is based on African American music. So for them to clearly say and do racist things about African Americans is just plain stupid and show that they are not TRUE hip hop & r/b artists. They know NOTHING of the genre.
Despite all of this I still like BB.
just a suggestion: i think it would have been more helpful to give clips of “fool” and “piano” rather than “how gee.”
even though i still think big bang has got talent, i’ve gotta admit the MV was done in poor taste. it’s more the result of their ignorance on what is deemed appropriate re: racial issues rather than a malicious need to make fun of black people. let’s just hope they learn since they’re still pretty young.
i hope they come up with more original melodies with more meaningful lyrics in the future–something that represents them uniquely. plus, i wish they would show off more of their awesome choreography skills (perhaps something better than the nlt video “she said, i said”–for some reason nlt seems like a fused version of n sync and big bang so i’m bringing this up).
This wrong! They stole that music!
Plus, I’m not feeling the Engrish rap. Rap in Korean-that would be hot.
If you thought How Gee was a rip off, then you may want to reconsider Lies.
I found a video on youtube that plays Big Bang’s Lies and FreeTempo’s Sky High.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEixjSBanxU
The Lies video with Big Bang behind bars is kinda funny if you think about them stealing music.
its nto plagerism, thats what people do they cover songs?!
if they think it is gd then people do covers for them….
Im sure they didnt copy everything, there must be some differences…plus if they gave credit to teh first band that this song, its not plagerism
yeh it might not be the best mv in the world… i th9ink the whole sex appeal thing is too american…
also do any of the members speak fluent english… they sounded good on there..
Wow. I can’t even believe the amount of morons there are on this thread who clearly have NO idea what they’re talking about. e_e;
First of all, whoever said Japan only likes JPop and JRock is DEAD wrong. What Japanese people are you hanging out with? plz 2 b getting out in the real world. It’s basic knowledge that the majority of mainstream Japanese youth do NOT like/listen to JRock and LOVE hip hop/rap. (Hell, my best friend is a typical preppy Japanese girl and she’s into rap like 50 Cent, Chamillionaire, etc, and was coincidentally also a fan of BB, even before they made their Japanese debut). The reason Big Bang will make it in Japan is because Koreans, by and large, do hip hop MUCH better than the Japanese. (Sad, but true. The only exception would have to be the Teriyaki Boyz, methinks.) They love American hip hop/R&B, but it’s easier for them to swallow if it’s given an Asian face, just like in China. That’s one of the whole reasons for the Korean wave. And THAT’S why this video is so generically hip hop. They want to present a “hard” and ghetto image, which you can’t do with cutesy, cheesy MVs like “Dirty Cash”. Yeah, it was “unique” and it appeals to YOU but it won’t to mainstream Japan. This is all about marketing and money.
Also, whoever said that Japanese schools are “amazing” at teaching their kids English…please tell me you’re joking? >_>; I won’t even comment on how inaccurate that is.
Anyway, as for my opinion, it’s a hot song and I think the MV is amusing. I found the blackface bit slightly disturbing, though. :/
@ uh….what
I agree. lol trumpets does not make a sound like saxophones
First of all, THEY CREDITED PIANO.
I actually like “How Gee” and the music video was amusing.
…The name “D-Lite” always creeped me out
lol koreans are such wannabes!
THIS IS BS!!!
DAISHI DANCE WAS ALREADY CREDITED IN THEIR JACKET ALBUM! GET YOUR DAMN INFO STRAIGHT. PLEASE DON’T BE ANOTHER IDIOTIC NETIZEN WHO CRITIZES AND THINKS THEY’RE SO GREAT BECAUSE THEY THINK STABBING AT OTHER PEOPLE IS COOL.
i have to admit big bang’s for the world album is not great compared to their korean ones but i look forward to great stages in the future and hope that they will continue to succeed and improve.
“MASTER YG” WILL NEVER LET SUCH OUTRAGEOUS THINGS SUCH AS PLAGERIZING HAPPEN IN HIS COMPANY! HE RAISES “REAL” ARTISTS AND IF YOU CAN’T HANG WITH THAT THEN GO BACK TO FATHER SM!
yeah, i don’t see the parody in the MV. and the trumpet/sax or whatever reminds me of J-Lo’s song “Get Right”
omg. it was a really crappy/kiddy video…
c’mon bb! you can do better <3
even though i don’t like SM…i like LSM’s take over asia first before taking over the east……….and who said BIg Bang is better than DBSK?….
i LIKE big bang BUT the music video was really bad. I think the tune is catchy but whats with the slutty girls and car in the back? ALL im trying to say is that a bunch of horny guys trying to rap and sing wont work out for me.
*too lazy to read the comments of everyone*
but OMG the first time i’ve seen the MV.. it sucks terribly!! The MV is awefully made and what’s up with the girls -__-;; it makes it seem so western wannabe but its not even UP to that level to be compared .. that sounded contradicting but yeah.. sad sad =\
I smell huge ass fan-boyism with jaenie’s post.
anecia,
BigBang raps most of the time so they’re not exactly “singing” if you get what I mean. Hence ‘dancing’ wouldn’t be as hard for them in comparison to DBSK where they have to hold onto a high note for 20 seconds while pumping the beats.
And DBSK (known as TOHOSHINKI in Japan) does NOT lipsync in Japan. Their company SM often makes their singers lipsync in case to prevent any sort of mistake that COULD happen. Even though they lipsync, it does not mean they can’t sing. If they couldn’t sing, they wouldn’t be able to take over Asia by storm.
Why would the people in Japan be awed by BigBang when BigBang are doing everything Westerners are? It’s nothing I haven’t seen before and it goes the same for the J-market as well. Sure. I give credit to BigBang for having exceptional english even though they’re just rapping and could easily pull it off. But why would people result to BigBang for this kind of material when they could easily go for the American one’s. I don’t see what’s so outstanding about this MV that would make anyone think that BigBang would be able to hit it off in Japan.
GUYS JUST DONT COMMENTT!!! in that wayyy, the stupid F-ING POP SEOUL HERE WONT WRITE SHEITT NO MO that you lykee! trust meeh once they knowww that the blog wasnt a hitt…..popseoul woulnt write anything like it again..
love ‘em! though the vid would be much better without those girls…
@jjiyul
rapping while dancing and singing while dancing are both hard since they both take a lot of breath to take.. oh and dbsk does not sing that high… only xiah and sometimes hero do that and sometimes they are off pitch.. one more thing, dbsk is popular because they are pretty boys.. japanese and most asians (except me and my cousin b/c they disgust us) like pretty boys..
the mv does not impress me but the song is catchy.. but the beat is..
I like this song and big bang hwaiting!
OMG!!!
That is one of the worst things I have ever seen!!!
Targeting the Japan market with THAT?
Seriously it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. And as for targeting the UNGERGROUND market they have to step it up because knowing the japanese they do things all out.
Either you are hardcore bubblegum pop, hardcore jrock or hardcore anything then you might make it but this half ass attempt to sound steel and gangsta ain’t going to go far.
But good luck!
Big Bang credited & sampled Piano, they never “ripped it off”
I’d like to see BigBang take on a DBSK song. But putting that aside; as long as they have talent, the way they look doesn’t matter. DBSK are average looking guys and to be fair, so is BigBang. So what difference would it make? If BigBang was talented enough, they’d be flying through Asia promoting themselves like how DBSK is doing.
“dbsk is popular because they are pretty boys”
So I guess Big Bang is popular because their fans appreciate the group solely for their talents, right? Hmm, I don’t think so.
Can you honestly say you’ve never seen comments such as “omg GD’s so
