Who is Da Vici? Well, the mysterious R&B duo is an example of another artist who is debuting themselves by having famous stars in the music video. Sounds familiar? Well, not too long ago, new singer Magolpy also used the same concept. Where is she now? The ultra slim singer quickly faded to the background- like her music video and her career.
To ensure the media’s interest, Da Vici’s debut music video will feature sexy Lee Hyori (29) and actress Lee Miyeon (37) as the female duo from the classic girls movie, Thelma and Louise. With such famous stars, the production costs were estimated at half a million USD.
Mnet will air 1 minute teasers on January 21st, 2008 and the full MV and album will be released on January 28th, 2008.

Do you really expect artists to always pop out albums right after their singles? That’s pretty childish of you. I don’t know about this Da Vici group or even Magolpy, but you can’t just base failure off of no immediate album following a single.
Here’s some history for you, but well known Korean hip-hop MC, Jo PD, first put out his songs on the Internet, but never showed his face and no album followed immediately, however he gained so much popularity even though he didn’t just “pop” out into TV shows or CFs right after his singles over the Internet.
It’s not easy making albums in Korea. There’s a whole bunch of elements that come into play, especially funding for things related to album making (which is never an easy thing because of Korea’s poor economic state it has been in), time spent in creating great music, and a whole bunch of other things.
Kim Bum Soo didn’t show his actual face until after his third album or appear in TV shows either, but he still gained so much popularity for his singing ability. Da Vici and Magolpy are using these stars to tease, gain popularity, and keep viewers on the edge of their seats for something good to come. It’s called good marketing strategy.
I’m pretty sure Magolpy is using this time away from the “spotlight” to refine her singing. Don’t be dumb and criticize on the spot just by what you see now.
