After signing with Lotte Duty Free as their spokesperson for the next year, the dancing magician aka Rain agreed to perform at the “2008 Lotte DFS Family Concert.” The concert celebrates “2008 Hallyu Tourism Exchange” and other artists, such as Lee Seung Hwan, Yangpa and renowned pianist Isao Sasaki will also perform with Pinky.
It seems like Rain is sticking to “perform after payment” strategy after his concert fiasco last year, which is surprisingly, very smart. Instead of creating new music and taking risks, he’s recycling his old songs to make some dough.

Why shouldn’t he get paid for his performances? Before is even better for any business deals.
He is running his own business now and there is expenses to be paid for in order to get new ideas, new composition of songs and lyrics written up for his future album. His staffs need to get paid as well. It is not like he keeps the whole paycheck to himself. Plus he needs to pay his ESL teacher/Bodyguard.

ummm… old songs always do some huge money especially if they’re hits
many US singers sing their old songs, eg Lionel Richie, and he’s very well respected for singing the old songs
and so many singers recycle old songs in their new albums.
and i think he just released his 4th album in october 2006, so he cant make a good album in like 15 months or something? unless you guys are stupid enough

Well, this is a business, isn’t it? And LOTTE makes ALOT of money from shoppers like you and I and I am glad that part of their profits go into Rain’s pockets!
Like someone mentioned, this is not a charity event, so I don’t see why Rain should not ask to be paid the fee that he can rightfully command. It is a simple business deal between a willing buyer and a willing seller. And it’s also great to know that Rain has donated a large sum of the money that he had earned to the Taean oil spill project.
Well, I think those haters will do things for free even if it’s not for charity…
