When will Se7en debut in the US?

Se7en_20080201_popseoul

YG wrote on his homepage that Se7en’s US debut is imminent and that they are currently negotiating with top US record label company for Se7en’s album release. That’s great, but we have been inundated with YG’s bluff that all we want to know is when it’s actually happening. In fact, is Se7en’s US debut really imminent or is this YG’s way of maintaining interest for the MIA Se7en?

    never, lol

I like the idea of have more Asians in the American music industry. I do, however, wonder how successful they can be if English is not their first language. Furthermore, will their albums be in English or are they still singing in their native languages?

  3. 3 anon February 1, 2008 at 1:33 pm

maybe YG is waiting for rain to debut as well to see who will sell better

  4. 4 secretivesoul February 1, 2008 at 1:35 pm

Whenever news was big about Se7en’s US debut, the managers mentioned he was learning English in depth, like with Japanese. They even mentioned he knew what he was singing about when in English, so I assume the album would be English predominantly as well.

I’m not so sure about his success though…. His Asian music is very good, but from what I’ve heard, the English doesn’t quite sound like his style….sounds like a mimic, and not Se7en’s sound.

  5. 5 saewon February 1, 2008 at 1:36 pm

hopefully se7en debuts soon because yg has been talking about his debut in the us for AGES. i live in the us and i would love to see se7en debut, but i’d like to know when.

  6. 6 janepak February 1, 2008 at 1:36 pm

    @ DailyReader
of course their albums are gonna be in English.. otherwise they would have made their debut by now

  7. 7 May February 1, 2008 at 1:41 pm

Good lord. Let’s see how many people are going to debut in the U.S. this year.

Rain, Se7en, BoA, GSoul, Min, Jlim, possibly Tablo? what next?

  8. 8 May February 1, 2008 at 1:47 pm

I think Min & Gsoul is the only one who will make it since they are so young and she can adapt to American style already. The rest is too old to learn English.

  9. 9 sf February 1, 2008 at 1:51 pm

    ah well.
I like Se7en too. Decent vocals, awesome dancing ability, and a perky, open personality that I think would appeal to pop listeners. And English! His English is decent!

  10. 10 Seeny February 1, 2008 at 2:20 pm

@May- “possibly Tablo”? -that would be amazing. Has he said anything?

lol, ‘Se7en’s debut is imminent’ haha yeah suuuuurrrreeeee

  11. 11 APRIL February 1, 2008 at 2:37 pm

“currently negotiating with top US record label company”

Yeah…that’s going to take a while.

Go for an Indie Label!! You’ll debut faster…like in this decade.

  12. 12 Jackie February 1, 2008 at 2:41 pm

    YG continues his name dropping
I wanna know more details too

  13. 13 valski February 1, 2008 at 2:44 pm

    uhh. never?
at first i was gonna say shop for US record labels THEN record but then they gots to hear how he sings in english first. duh! smart one val.

  14. 14 Q February 1, 2008 at 3:23 pm

I was actually looking forward to Se7en’s U.S debut when I first heard about it.

    Now? Not so much.

  15. 15 Brina February 1, 2008 at 3:59 pm

Tablo would have no problem entering the American music industry. He English vocab is larger than mine. :O

I’d buy his shiz right up!

  16. 16 Brina February 1, 2008 at 3:59 pm

    His**

    XD *whistles*

  17. 17 tenretni February 1, 2008 at 4:58 pm

sry but i’m not looking forward to having 7 over here… the dude just doesn’t do it for me…

  18. 18 penguin_x3 February 1, 2008 at 5:26 pm

the only reason why he didn’t debut was because his music got out so now they have to start fresh again…hopefully fabulous can help out….I hope his english is good like hoping he’s hella fluent because if its not then I don’t think he has a chance even though I love him like crazy….I’m rooting for Gsoul because that boy got mad vocals, but he needs to change his name cause people will just laugh at it(meaning the americans, especially black people)….Min dresses too slutty for her age, if she dies it down Disney will definitly sign her…haha

ps….se7en is so damn skinny, eat something boy!! after all you are in one of the fattest state or country….something like that

  19. 19 thecoolest February 1, 2008 at 6:59 pm

He’s taking too long. The excitement is over.

  20. 20 Feel bad for Se7en February 1, 2008 at 7:52 pm

I read that YG knows that it’s only a 1% chance of success but he still wants to try and raise the odds. All I can say is “Good Luck” to Se7en. Seems like YG has hung him out to dry. Turning your back on Asia is a bad move…the fans are dropping off like flies. What will he have to come back to? Once fans in Asia find someone new..there is no turning back…that’s life.

Oh well..YG still has BB to bring in the moolah!!!!!

  21. 21 Cindel February 1, 2008 at 10:50 pm

YG is notorious for delays so this isn’t surprising!

Let’s talk about the fact that every notices about Seven has that “famous rapper” which we all know is Redman and YG doesn’t like him!

  22. 22 kylie February 1, 2008 at 11:04 pm

    @ penguin_x3
Dude, I’m SO glad that song with fabolous leaked out! Compared to all of the awesome songs he has in Korean and Japanese, that English one that he came out with was completely WACK! Besides, no one in America likes Fabolous anymore….He would do MUCH better with an actually GOOD rapper…Let’s see…Ludacris is really hot right now….

All I know is that he’d better debut with the right song! >_<

  23. 23 ohgeeze. February 2, 2008 at 12:02 am

I hope he does well. Out of all the singers that are planning to debut in America, I’d probably stick to Se7en. Since he has the most hope. He’s been over here for a long time too, getting ready and all.

    Cheese and rice though.
If Tablo were to debut over here. I’d be so happy.
    I think he’d do well.

  24. 24 FimFim February 2, 2008 at 12:42 am

    LOL!

    Its stupid.

He’s got to start MASTERING English before he does that!

  25. 25 Janelle February 2, 2008 at 2:04 am

Cindel: STFU Cindel. Why the hell are always around YG news? You’re only biased towards 1TYM, so why bother sticking around with this company? And why aren’t you mad at 1TYM using the N word in one of their songs? How stupid are you to disregard their negative actions, but pounce on everyone else in YG? You’d be better off with the underground hip hop if you hate YG so much. You’re a fkin’ hypocrite.

  26. 26 resabambino February 2, 2008 at 5:47 am

This news is starting to get boring. Just drop the damn thing already.

  27. 27 R. Kelly February 2, 2008 at 6:22 am

When Se7en debuts in America, hopefully sometime this decade, his album will probably flop worse then D-War.

  28. 28 iluvkyuhyunnie February 2, 2008 at 6:27 am

FINALLY.. news about Se7en’s america debut.. man i can’t wait.. but what’s taking so long.. if Se7en won’t debut i want him to go back to Korea and actually be on stage again.. man how i miss him…

  29. 29 Se7enFan February 2, 2008 at 6:28 am

Goong was the beginning of the end…hopefully our man Se7en will make like a Phoenix and rise from the ashes of what was once his music career…

  30. 30 Kristina February 2, 2008 at 6:35 am

I just hope that he doesn’t try too hard to sound American.
Well. He kind of does that a bit already…
and so does a lot of other Korean artists, I suppose.

  31. 31 spin February 2, 2008 at 6:52 am

i hope he doesn’t try to imitate US artists too… Se7en has such a sweet voice. I’m already a little disappointed to see him tone down his looks to be more plain.

honestly, how good can he do in the US during a time of recession, job loss, and other banking failures – really…

the US ain’t the gold mine it used to be.

  32. 32 lazybum February 2, 2008 at 8:35 am

instead of name dropping, YG should consider dropping some songs. i really don’t give a damn who the *prestigious producers* are as long as the songs are good. we’re always getting news about Se7en with this and that famous person, what does that say about Se7en? that he can’t hold his own?

  33. 33 tangy February 2, 2008 at 9:08 am

    i luv se7en…a lot

but dude….i’m tired of waiting……..they should have announced that he was debuting waaaaay later so his fans don’t have to keeping waiting…and waiting…and waiting

  34. 34 Meru February 2, 2008 at 10:49 am

All part of creating hype for something that takes a long time to do. Yea, no activity takes a toll on an artist, but a lot of American singers make their comeback after a few years. Debuting in another country is like building up a whole new career, so the existing one will of course suffer. Yea, like many have said already, he’s taking a big gamble with this career move.

  35. 35 Tushka February 2, 2008 at 10:52 am

Looking forward to his American debut and hopefully a concert here in Southern California.

  36. 36 gypsymm7 February 2, 2008 at 11:09 am

The lagging is getting to me also, but this is what I anticipated. When YG announced that Se7en was going to debut in the US I thought it was a little too soon, because babe can’t speak English. I love Se7en but I’m hoping, wishing, and praying that he doesn’t make a fool of himself like Pinky (Bi).

Lazybum: It’s not that Se7en can’t hold his own, it’s YG building his resume. In an industry like entertainment, education is nothing, and experience is everything.

  37. 37 sasa February 2, 2008 at 12:49 pm

hey fans please dont eat me alive LOL
but to make it int the american industry you have to have the looks or the talent
im not saying se7en is not good looking enough im just saying its going to be harder because America s WAY BIGGER THEN korea which there must be more undiscorvered talented peps

so yeah ITS GOING TO BE HARD
    but I wish the best

  38. 38 fraulein February 2, 2008 at 2:03 pm

    I am curious –

when an artiste like se7en makes the decision to pursue the US market at the expense of home (korean) and asian markets, is it made by the company, ie YG entertainment or the artiste himself ?

And how much say does an artiste have ?

I heard JYP wants to bring the Wondergirls to the US for a brief stint. I fell off my chair laughing – those tacky clothes, those vocals and that Tell Me dance sequence !!

  39. 40 han February 2, 2008 at 8:42 pm

perhaps he’s mastering his english? you can’t take US market lightly you know

  40. 41 lilkrnxangel420 February 3, 2008 at 8:21 am

    more like never

  41. 42 cindy--rox February 3, 2008 at 8:51 am

se7en was the main reason i got so into kpop…
but really hate to admitting this but maybe its just talk…
part of me still wants him to be sucessful and most of me knows that if he was gonna debut he would’ve in ‘07..i just really disappointed in him but i still wish him the best of luck with all my heart..

  42. 43 blinkable February 3, 2008 at 8:42 pm

Good lord. Let’s see how many people are going to debut in the U.S. this year.

Rain, Se7en, BoA, GSoul, Min, Jlim, possibly Tablo? what next?

We can now add BoA to that list as well ^^

  43. 44 chay February 3, 2008 at 9:24 pm

    anon February 1, 2008 at 1:33 pm

maybe YG is waiting for rain to debut as well to see who will sell better

    —-

I have to agree with this. This is my hunch, too.

  44. 45 Guy February 6, 2008 at 3:42 am

If Se7en is waiting for Rain to make his U.S. music debut, then that’s pretty tacky. The Americans will be like, “WTH? Where did all these Asians come from??.. Huh?… Wha?”
And I said ‘Asian’ because it’s gonna take a couple of months for them to figure out if they’re either Chinese or Japanese. =/ LMAO.

  45. 46 ELLE^^ February 8, 2008 at 10:23 am

    i hope he does…
    aza aza hwaiting se7en..^^

  46. 47 I♥Pinky February 17, 2008 at 5:19 pm

    @ gypsymm7

Pinky is not a fool! He is now aiming for international stardom and not just the US market.

  47. 48 confused March 9, 2008 at 1:45 pm

Guy has a point. I think Rain and Se7en would be lucky if they can get Americans attentions to figure out if they’re Chinese or Japanese (and of course they’re neither).

man good luck to these two.

  48. 49 secrettt September 4, 2008 at 12:12 pm

oh hell no. I rather die than see a GOOD HARDWORKING korean artist simply flail and get destroyed by the harsh american industry, (not to mention i dont listen to any western music anymore, thank god) what has happened to english songs?! all i ever see are sex and bling. Jesus! I LOVE ASIAN MUSIC!!!! KOREA FIGHTING!

  49. 50 Ariel December 7, 2008 at 7:52 am

Se7en needs to hurry and debut in america. I have been waiting so long. I would also love to see Rain and Tablo. I especially think that Tablo would do well. Isn’t he fluent in english having gone to Harvard or Stanford??(I can’t remeber which one. Anyweays I just really can’t wait. I love Eastern music! And i think it is a shame that our western music is popular in Asia but we have no famous asian artist hear. I hope that really changes!
