It wasn’t long ago that we saw Wondergirls Yeh Eun (18) and Sun Ye (18) brave the cold to take their university entrance exams with sticky taffy and tangerines in hand. The lucky charms appear to have worked for Yeh Eun, who was accepted to Kyung Hee University under its postmodern music program. However, Yeh Eun is holding out for another school’s acceptance letter before making her final decision. No word yet on Sun Ye’s acceptances or rejections.
Fellow girl group member, Han Seung Yun (19) of Kara, was also accepeted to Kyung Hee University under the school’s acting program. Kara’s management, DSP Entertainment, confirmed the singer’s acceptance, saying that she plans to attend.
Props to these girls for pursuing higher education. However, perhaps it would better serve their interests to study non-entertainment related, practical curriculum to use when their 15 minutes seconds have passed. Accounting 101 anyone?
That brings us to the point that Kyung Hee University seems to be the popular choice for celebrities these days. Korean pop notables include Park Hyo Shin, Lyn, SG Wannabe’s Kim Jin Ho, Buzz, Min Kyung Hoon, Sugar, Park Soo Jin, DBSK’s Chang Min, and SuJu’s Kyu Hyun. We smell bribery affirmative action working in favor of celebrities.

Great for them, but come on. Celebrities need to take more worldly course instead of acting and music. How about Graphic Design or Computer Science? Wish them luck. Oh, how i miss college. NOT!!
congrats to yeh eun and kara for getting into uni…
Totally agree with you two up there ^
They should try majoring in things that is away from entertianment. Something along the lines of Science or computers. Something they can fall onto when there careers ends.
Well I give them props for actually even going for a higher education. I can name some girl groups or just one that thinks there too good for education and rather take the fame. *cough coughgirlsgenerationcough cough*
Well I read yesterday that Sun Ye hopes to get accepted at the same University that TOP will be attending.
Stop infecting others and cough elsewhere
Sunye is now on the preliminary list for the School of Arts and Crafts majoring in Theatre and Film at Dankook University. Yes, the same university as TOP. I think the preliminary list is similar to a university waitlist option in the US.
I hope the best for Sunye because Dankook University is the only university that she applied to.
dude like the only reason why they’re getting accepted is because their famous and they want to be a freakin famous school… I wish they all would stop applying at different school and go to other ones like TOP and Sun Ye…I hope she makes it cause I think that school is mad awesome…go TOP for attending…brains and beauty for both whooo!!!!!
Well hey, at least they chose to further their education. *coughSNSDcough* …
So good luck to both of them, and any other celeb that decides to go to university!
Seung Yun is the smartest cutie ever.
I don’t think its fair that people are holding snsd in comparison with yeh eun and seung yeon.
snsd had just debuted, and they need the time to promote their group, and secure their career. after their many years of training, i imagine it would be unfair to themselves or their group mates if some of the snsd members did not devote their full effort and attention on their entertainment career.
afterall, this is their once in a lifetime opportunity. they can go back to school if they fail.
I think i heard that Sun Ye passed the exams and is on the preliminary list (Dankook University) now.
i dunno why but i always thought that kyung hee was an all girls univ. hahahha. obviously it’s not.
anyways, congrats to them!
maybe they really feel that they can keep going with whatever they are doing now. so whatever.
best of luck to them all.
Horray to Ye Eun and Seung Yeon ^^ Wish you all the best!
Can’t wait for both groups’ comebacks either~!
by all means if they can’t devote their time to actually attend the classes and really gain something from having an college education, they might as well just be as honest as BoA, say education is useless for the business and stop making headlines about who get into which!
Seriously, why go when you are not really applying your self to college. It just makes you look retarded.
my cousin goes to kyung hee
while at least they applied, unlike SNSD who let fame got into their little head thinking they are teh hot shet and didn’t even try lol
I agree with Daf it’s not right this comparation SNSD and yeh eun and seung yeon. It’s never too late to study.
SNSD, yeh eun and seung yeon. ops
hm, I see nothing wrong w/ their majors. Alot of the comments are rather narrow-minded and envious.
Most people don’t even continue to work in the field they studied in, & w/ the entertainers majoring in the arts, between their actual experience and studies, they could round that off w/ a 16 month to 3 yr MBA degree.
Even if all they had were 15 minutes of fame, they could still work quite comfortably in the entertainment business - running an advertising business, a music/etc professor, fashion.
Furthermore these people ARE in business, they sell themselves and it looks like they’re doing it quite well. wft do they need a degree when they have the *actual* *successful* experience of *doing* business. Not just “studying” the concepts of business.
I respect and congratulate Ye-Eun, Sun-Ye, and all other young K-pop entertainers who take education seriously enough to at least apply for a college admission for any major. I hope they can manage to graduate, but it will be extra tough for them to juggle between college and entertaining, especially concurrently. But, if they decide to put off college after admission or drop out, then it’s uderstandable and they would still get my vote for trying for higher education. Anyway……, Go Wonder Girls! Kick SNSD butts!(j/k)
Yay! Congrats to them. Kyunghee is a good university. But you’re right, they always persue Music or Acting! Don’t they have any other interests? And I wonder whether being famous helps them get accepted!
^It’s not like they don’t, it’s just easier to study something that’s related to your current job.
—
And I imagine that being in art/music programs would have a lighter workload. Honestly, I can’t imagine being in the program I am now if I had to juggle such intense job with it @___@
This is just my opinion, but I think you guys make pursuing a post-secondary education alongside a full-time job sound so easy and like everyone should be doing it or they suck or something >.>
It’s not that easy. And just because a special few have extraordinary capability to do so (I really respect them for that), it doesn’t mean everyone can, so please put yourself in their shoes and think for a moment before making such comments.
i guess it’s not so bad to take on a music course for Ye Eun, because if she’s truly a musician, and when her 15 seconds is over, then she can always go into producing or song writing. plus she’ll have a famous name to go with it too, so it shouldn’t be too bad. acting on the other hand… i don’t know, i guess they can always become acting teachers or something. tho in this girl’s case, i guess its more for her resume…
kyuhyun and changmin went to the same uni?
XD
imma bit far behind
congrats to the girls!
Congrats my Wonder Girls for not quitting school like dumb cheerleaders SNSwho?
hey, RAin graduated from this school too
sorry to post again but i have question…how does changmin go to school when he like lives in Japan? Does he do like a home studies thing? I’m confused
maybe the university offers good accommodation for artists who needs more time outside of the university.. like offering modules instead..
So what if most of the girls from SNSD (1989) didn’t apply for college this year?
It’s not like they decided to not attend college at all; they could always take the exams next year.
How many celebrities actually have time to go to classes?
So what if they got in, they’re not going to graduate anytime soon if they don’t have to attend school.
BTW, there are other celebrities that are of age that didn’t apply to college.
What about Jiyong (1988), Youngbae (1988), or Daesung (1989) from Big Bang?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think they decided not to apply for college because they wanted to focus more on their careers.
I know TOP (1987) got into Dankook University, but why didn’t he apply last year or something?
Seungyeon was born in 1988 and she’s a year older than most of the SNSD girls. From what I see, SNSD have plenty of time to decide on when to attend college. I hope they apply next year though.
whoops..I forgot a word and another thought I had.
“How many celebrities actually have time to go to classes?
So what if they got in, they’re not going to graduate anytime soon if they don’t have TIME to attend school. Most of them will be too busy doing promotions to even think about school.”
@Diana
“So what if they got in, they’re not going to graduate anytime soon…”
In that case, they better start college as early as they can, honey. ^_^
For most of these celebs, they probably won’t even need a degree to continue their showbiz. However, their label company are requiring higher education to make good headlines and uphold their reputation.
It’s just something else they can brag.
It’s like a doctor slapping his Ph.D. in your face.
He’ll still have society’s respect no matter what.
This is JYP’s way of saying “I don’t want any dumbass in my company.”
Lol kyunghee is like a university for celebs.
i don’t think they have to time to attend college..LOL..
I’m so proud of Yeh Eun and Seung Yeon, even though they’re celebrities and they still want to continue going to school. Yeh Eun and Seung Yeon are both really smart. Seung Yeon almost got in to medical school, but then she became a singer. Yeh Eun graduated top 3 out of school, thats amazing since she was promoting wg’s new album. I hear Yeh Eun studies backstage when they’re not performing! Plus, I don’t think they got into Kyunghee because of their famous!!
they know their 2seconds are gonna be up soon so they think acting school would give them another chance. -..-
@ penguin_x3
i think changmin graduated THEN went to japan…..
oh congrats to them..lolll there cnt be ALOT of hwk in music rite?? hope they can handle it…
wow i cant believe people really think that they got into college cuz they are ‘famous’.
um ye eun was like top 5 in her highschool/class. she’s super smart. they dont let random people in. its still a college. they dont NEED famous people. kyunghee is a hard university to get into.. & not everyone gets accepted. plus sungyeon & ye eun are SUPER FAMOUS.
wow, they’re really clever >.<
i agree with Diane..
congratulation to these girls.. hope things will go well with them..
Please dont bash SNSD.. they’re great girls.. they did mention they want to focus on their career for the time being.. At least they being honest. let’s just say they’re taking a year gap to pursue their career. i mean they just debuted. What’s the use of studying when you dont put your heart and soul in that.. that’s just wasting you time.. Education is really important, but what’s the use of going to uni if you actually dont have time for it. they might regret it when they finished without any flying colour..
im not here to argue.. but college and uni like is no joke.. if you want to have good grade you have to do your best. i know they’re taking courses that related to their job, same case. there are no courses that are easy as you thought it would be.
Well, Good luck for WG’s Yeh Eun and SunYe and Kara’s seung Yeon. They know what they’re doing.. have faith in them.. Please dont compare them with SNSD.. These girls, SNSD, WG and Kara.. have their dedication and dreams they want to achieve.. let them be.. As long as they happy.. we’ll pray for them..
<3
They got in because they’re “famous”?
Are you jealous popseoul? Did you know how hard it is to get in @ KyungHee Uni? And did you know that only 4 out of all 240 were being selected for YeEun’s major? Besides, YeEun was top 10 in her graduating class, the girl is SURE smart! Anyway, big CONGRATULATIONS to YeEun, SunYe, & SeungYeon ^^
Ehh…Accounting sucks big time, it’s insanely hard.
I have to take Accounting 2 next semester too T_T
College is a lot of work, hope these girls can actually do it. Of course if it’s college for entertainment crap, I’m sure it’s easy as hell. Pathetic. Take some real classes.
College is supposed to be your back-up.
Of course I give them credit for even going unlike the SNSD twats.
Good luck to them.
Relax people. They just got accepted. Whether they’ll graduate or not that’s another story.
SNSD is going to regret not going to college when they were suppose to. DUMB cheerleaders IS RIGHT. Didn’t Boa say she regretted not going to school?
Anyway, Congrats to Ye Eun. She seems really intelligent and hard-working. WonderGirls work and actually go to school EVERY DAY while SNSD goes like…once every 6 months whenever their dumbasses aren’t busy doing mindless things.
A lot of people are saying that becoming a singer is “a once in a lifetime opportunity”.
Are you effing kidding me???!!! You must be more dumb than SNSD are.
SCHOOL and EDUCATION are once in a lifetime opportunity that either you miss or get. Haven’t you heard of the phrase, “You sink or swim” in college? DO you think some of your parents can go back to school after they have had families and other obligations? School is the most important aspect of any child’s life. SNSD are SOOOOOOO STUPID for putting a shallow career ahead of education. There’s nothing more important than learning. They are the dumbest, ugliest role models EVER.
“Relax people. They just got accepted. Whether they’ll graduate or not that’s another story.” <— You moron. Getting accepted to a highly competitive, select school is always the hardest part. Just want until YOU apply to college, little naive girl.
“College is a lot of work, hope these girls can actually do it. Of course if it’s college for entertainment crap, I’m sure it’s easy as hell. Pathetic. Take some real classes.”
That’s an ignorant and unfair comment just because it’s an entertainment-related major. Just what and how much do you really know about majoring in performing arts at a university level? The students in that field are also required to take some amounts of purely academic courses in math, language, history, sociology, etc. - all unrelated to their music, dancing, or acting backgrounds. Most of these students devote their times to practicing their specialty while accounting and other traditional academic majors are partying and drinking after their exams or take vacation trips. And I see nothing wrong with artistically talented people pursuing college majors in their fields of interests to further develop and hone their skills. It’s really no different from or easier than other students majoring in other fields related to their own talents and interests.
When they take the classes I have to take, then we’ll talk. Comparing to entertainment crap, mine are for geniuses. It’s an opinion, I’m not being ignorant. If you’re going to go to college, you should take classes that will expand your knowledge, they’re already singers, they should take better classes for college that aren’t about entertainment so that they have a BACK UP. That’s why they’re doing it in the first place right?
seung yun is ugly
whoever wrote this is dumb
Blahblahbon, I’m sure one can’t be exactly dumb to major in accounting, but to imply that one needs to be a genius to major in it is going overboard, I’m afraid. Most people major in fields which they feel comfortable and confident about their realistic chances of succesfully completing after 4-6 years of hard work. If a person is passionate about engineering, he or she will probably major in enginnering or some related subject, in order to apply the additional knowledge gained from college for a career in that field, not accounting as a back up to his or her primary interest, for which he or she may have no interest or aptitude. Likewise, if a person is passionate about musical performance, then he or she will probably major in music or a related subject, for the same reason. And so is it also for someone interested in accounting enough to become an accoutant, not music or engineering as a back up. I don’t these girls chose their majors just as a back up (which they don’t need for finacial reasons, anyway, since they already earned enough). But, if they did, like some people already pointed out, they can use what they learned in college as a back up, later, in another career in enetertainment related to their current one. I see that as being very pragmatic and practical, also. One does not need a back up plan completely different from the primary one to fall back on.
“When they take the classes I have to take, then we’ll talk.”
I think the same would apply to you, as well, only after you have taken the same classes in performing arts that they have to take. If those are as easy as you think, then you should breeze through them and easily make a career in entertainment as your back-up, at least.
@ WG>GG
“SCHOOL and EDUCATION are once in a lifetime opportunity that either you miss or get.” <— says who? being successful and grabbing that 15 seconds of fame is a once in a lifetime opportunity, while you can ALWAYS go to university later in life and still do well. i’m all for education, but education institutes aren’t for everyone and not everyone is ready for it.
and HAHAHAHAHA did u just say getting accepted is the hardest part. who’s the naive ignoramus here?? i’m doing a highly competitive, selective course right now and i found getting in the easiest part. the nightmare starts from there.
@ Blahblahbon
‘entertainment crap’ can be surprisingly hard and challengiing too. the arts are not as easy as everyone makes it out to be.
@ WG>GG “You moron. Getting accepted to a highly competitive, select school is always the hardest part. Just want until YOU apply to college, little naive girl.”
<- you moron, the biggest error tens of thousands of Asian kids make each year is assume getting into a good university is equivalent to getting into a safebox and they are secured for life. Sure you can probably fly low at 60% for every single course and still graduate (and of course there are those who can’t even do that just because), but let me guarantee you when you are on the job market and competing with real people instead of taking an exam that you will do well in as long as you study really hard for a couple years, you will regret taking the admission results as the indicator for your life. I assume you are one of those that had a hard time getting in yet enjoyed all the campus parties once you are there?
is it really hard to get to study at kyunghee uni??wow…that means chang min and kyu hyun really smart!!both of my favs r in the same uni!!!what a coincident!! hehe..luv them..wow..so ye eun is very clever too like what Lyzzie said…wow..congratzz ye eun!!
tsk, tsk, some of the wonderfuls are really WONDERFOOLS.
College for the win! XD
We smell bribery affirmative action working in favor of celebrities ~ amen to that XD
To: Junsufan(DBSK)fan
Is there any particular reason behind your statement to call some WG’s fans as “Wonderfools”?
I think people are being close-minded and ignorant. Choosing an entertainment-related or performing arts for a major is good. At least they’re going to college! Pursuing the arts in college is not easy at all! Plus, even though they’re majoring in acting or singing or whatever else, there’s still the requirement of academic credits with math, science, and whatnot. Those that are defending SNSD and other people who put off college is most likely people who don’t do well in school either, yes? It’s better to keep going with your education rather than stop for a year or so, then go. By the time you go back to college, you won’t be as ready anymore because you’ve become accustomed to not studying and just making some dough. When you work, you make money, but when you study, you lose money. Y’know? So then you’d have that mindset to that studying is useless after you stop. Sometimes, it’s good to major in WHAT YOU WANT, so then you’ll be happy rather than doing something you’re not really passionate about and be sad. And bribery, Popseoul? C’mon. Bribery or not, they still have to study anyway to stay.
Stop fighting about their freaking majors. Obviously they got in because they’re dedicated students and took time off of their career to actually apply. Kyung Hee is a hard college; I know because my cousin who’s a pretty good student is struggling to get good marks in his courses. Just because they’re majoring in entertainment doesn’t mean that they can just sit back and slack off. I respect these girls for sacrificing their already limited time for higher education and for continuing with their k-pop careers. When all fails, they’ll still have a back up - and money to earn.
lyzzie : well, i thought i’ve seen enough of wonderfools bashing snsd on YT, but well it seems like there’s some over here. And i wasn’t directing this to wonder girls at all, it’s just that some of their fans…absolutely LOVEEE to compare WG to SNSD. Honestly, i think snsd fans are more civilized.
“snsd fans are more cilicized”
*chokes* HAHAHAHA. Stop killing me with your “irony.”
More civilized? Geezz, I hope so. I would be worried if they weren’t…I mean, aren’t they all in elementary school?
*snicker*
WG fans are more in high school and college. They like to pick on little kids more. That I’ll admit
*guilty*
Damn, SNSD fans don’t even have a name yet so I can make fun of.
oh, I got it! SNSD stand for
Suckers,
Not
Super
Dancers
haha. get it? They’re suckers cuz they’re dumb and not going to college. They’re not superb in dancing bc it takes 9 gurls to blind people with their awful skills. If that’s not creative enough, I’ll think of another acronym later.
Chill out, people. Let me have my fun -_-’

if you angry at this, you have no humor.
Jusu(DBSK)fan:
People are entitled to their opinions and this is a blog. I’ve seen many too but I have to disagree with you on SNSD fans are more civilized because THEY ARE NOT! Besides, you can’t really point to Wonderfuls but also Kamilias because this is about YeEun & SeungYeon.
And what can you really do about it if you’ve seen enough about WG fans picking on SNSD fans? Bite back? Which will probably lead to more arguments & comparings between the two.
My suggestion to you is to not read articles about SNSD or WG at all.
Go check out the 02/02/2008 broadcast of the KBS variety show, “Star Golden Bell”, at the KBS website or YouTube. The whole freakin’ nine SNSD members showed up holding lollipops and made fools of themselves while the drooling male show hosts and guests flirted with them, in front of millions of Koreans who watched the show. If you can read Korean, then go to the audience forum of that show and find out how many people were “happy” to see the whole spectacle.
There are also newspaper articles circulating now about the SNSD member, Yuri, making a faux pas with “our country” in Korean, around the time of Korean Thanksgiving Day last fall.
Sorry, but I just can’t get myself to like this inferior copy of Morning Musume with not-too-bright girls with not-too-modest attitudes.
Ummm.. I’m an accounting student.. teehee..
Hahaha I also agree that all SNSD members apear on a show to flirt with hosts and all.and bring their big lolipops and then fans actually say ohh theyre so cute… thats so lame and WG doesnt even need to ACT cute all the time cuz they are naturally..
The difference between SNSD and WG is that WG doesnt HAVE to appear on every single variety every single week to keep their fame. SNSD cant go to school cuz they need to concentrate on their job? My ass. If its that hard how come everyone else did it?
And even though WG debuted like 6 months before them they were inactive for a long time because of Hyunah and all. They only did their comeback near the end of sept? i think. Anyway I give props to them. If they can do all this they really are Wonderful Wondergirls!!
