Yeh Eun and Han Seung Yeon are collegebound

Yeeunhanseungyun_20080201_popseoul

It wasn’t long ago that we saw Wondergirls Yeh Eun (18) and Sun Ye (18) brave the cold to take their university entrance exams with sticky taffy and tangerines in hand. The lucky charms appear to have worked for Yeh Eun, who was accepted to Kyung Hee University under its postmodern music program. However, Yeh Eun is holding out for another school’s acceptance letter before making her final decision. No word yet on Sun Ye’s acceptances or rejections.

Fellow girl group member, Han Seung Yun (19) of Kara, was also accepeted to Kyung Hee University under the school’s acting program. Kara’s management, DSP Entertainment, confirmed the singer’s acceptance, saying that she plans to attend.

Props to these girls for pursuing higher education. However, perhaps it would better serve their interests to study non-entertainment related, practical curriculum to use when their 15 minutes seconds have passed. Accounting 101 anyone?

That brings us to the point that Kyung Hee University seems to be the popular choice for celebrities these days. Korean pop notables include Park Hyo Shin, Lyn, SG Wannabe’s Kim Jin Ho, Buzz, Min Kyung Hoon, Sugar, Park Soo Jin, DBSK’s Chang Min, and SuJu’s Kyu Hyun. We smell bribery affirmative action working in favor of celebrities.

“When they take the classes I have to take, then we’ll talk.”

I think the same would apply to you, as well, only after you have taken the same classes in performing arts that they have to take. If those are as easy as you think, then you should breeze through them and easily make a career in entertainment as your back-up, at least.

    @ WG>GG

“SCHOOL and EDUCATION are once in a lifetime opportunity that either you miss or get.” <— says who? being successful and grabbing that 15 seconds of fame is a once in a lifetime opportunity, while you can ALWAYS go to university later in life and still do well. i’m all for education, but education institutes aren’t for everyone and not everyone is ready for it.

and HAHAHAHAHA did u just say getting accepted is the hardest part. who’s the naive ignoramus here?? i’m doing a highly competitive, selective course right now and i found getting in the easiest part. the nightmare starts from there.

    @ Blahblahbon

‘entertainment crap’ can be surprisingly hard and challengiing too. the arts are not as easy as everyone makes it out to be.

@ WG>GG “You moron. Getting accepted to a highly competitive, select school is always the hardest part. Just want until YOU apply to college, little naive girl.”

<- you moron, the biggest error tens of thousands of Asian kids make each year is assume getting into a good university is equivalent to getting into a safebox and they are secured for life. Sure you can probably fly low at 60% for every single course and still graduate (and of course there are those who can’t even do that just because), but let me guarantee you when you are on the job market and competing with real people instead of taking an exam that you will do well in as long as you study really hard for a couple years, you will regret taking the admission results as the indicator for your life. I assume you are one of those that had a hard time getting in yet enjoyed all the campus parties once you are there?

Is there any particular reason behind your statement to call some WG’s fans as “Wonderfools”?

I think people are being close-minded and ignorant. Choosing an entertainment-related or performing arts for a major is good. At least they’re going to college! Pursuing the arts in college is not easy at all! Plus, even though they’re majoring in acting or singing or whatever else, there’s still the requirement of academic credits with math, science, and whatnot. Those that are defending SNSD and other people who put off college is most likely people who don’t do well in school either, yes? It’s better to keep going with your education rather than stop for a year or so, then go. By the time you go back to college, you won’t be as ready anymore because you’ve become accustomed to not studying and just making some dough. When you work, you make money, but when you study, you lose money. Y’know? So then you’d have that mindset to that studying is useless after you stop. Sometimes, it’s good to major in WHAT YOU WANT, so then you’ll be happy rather than doing something you’re not really passionate about and be sad. And bribery, Popseoul? C’mon. Bribery or not, they still have to study anyway to stay.

Stop fighting about their freaking majors. Obviously they got in because they’re dedicated students and took time off of their career to actually apply. Kyung Hee is a hard college; I know because my cousin who’s a pretty good student is struggling to get good marks in his courses. Just because they’re majoring in entertainment doesn’t mean that they can just sit back and slack off. I respect these girls for sacrificing their already limited time for higher education and for continuing with their k-pop careers. When all fails, they’ll still have a back up – and money to earn.

lyzzie : well, i thought i’ve seen enough of wonderfools bashing snsd on YT, but well it seems like there’s some over here. And i wasn’t directing this to wonder girls at all, it’s just that some of their fans…absolutely LOVEEE to compare WG to SNSD. Honestly, i think snsd fans are more civilized.

  12. 12 May February 5, 2008 at 12:33 am

    “snsd fans are more cilicized”

*chokes* HAHAHAHA. Stop killing me with your “irony.”

More civilized? Geezz, I hope so. I would be worried if they weren’t…I mean, aren’t they all in elementary school?
    *snicker*

WG fans are more in high school and college. They like to pick on little kids more. That I’ll admit :P *guilty*

Damn, SNSD fans don’t even have a name yet so I can make fun of.
oh, I got it! SNSD stand for

    Suckers,
    Not
    Super
    Dancers

haha. get it? They’re suckers cuz they’re dumb and not going to college. They’re not superb in dancing bc it takes 9 gurls to blind people with their awful skills. If that’s not creative enough, I’ll think of another acronym later.

Chill out, people. Let me have my fun -_-’

if you angry at this, you have no humor.

    Jusu(DBSK)fan:

People are entitled to their opinions and this is a blog. I’ve seen many too but I have to disagree with you on SNSD fans are more civilized because THEY ARE NOT! Besides, you can’t really point to Wonderfuls but also Kamilias because this is about YeEun & SeungYeon.

And what can you really do about it if you’ve seen enough about WG fans picking on SNSD fans? Bite back? Which will probably lead to more arguments & comparings between the two.

My suggestion to you is to not read articles about SNSD or WG at all.

  15. 15 Korean Ajusshi February 5, 2008 at 8:36 am

Go check out the 02/02/2008 broadcast of the KBS variety show, “Star Golden Bell”, at the KBS website or YouTube. The whole freakin’ nine SNSD members showed up holding lollipops and made fools of themselves while the drooling male show hosts and guests flirted with them, in front of millions of Koreans who watched the show. If you can read Korean, then go to the audience forum of that show and find out how many people were “happy” to see the whole spectacle.

There are also newspaper articles circulating now about the SNSD member, Yuri, making a faux pas with “our country” in Korean, around the time of Korean Thanksgiving Day last fall.

Sorry, but I just can’t get myself to like this inferior copy of Morning Musume with not-too-bright girls with not-too-modest attitudes.

Ummm.. I’m an accounting student.. teehee..

  17. 17 Nivvv_ February 14, 2008 at 1:30 pm

Hahaha I also agree that all SNSD members apear on a show to flirt with hosts and all.and bring their big lolipops and then fans actually say ohh theyre so cute… thats so lame and WG doesnt even need to ACT cute all the time cuz they are naturally..
The difference between SNSD and WG is that WG doesnt HAVE to appear on every single variety every single week to keep their fame. SNSD cant go to school cuz they need to concentrate on their job? My ass. If its that hard how come everyone else did it?
And even though WG debuted like 6 months before them they were inactive for a long time because of Hyunah and all. They only did their comeback near the end of sept? i think. Anyway I give props to them. If they can do all this they really are Wonderful Wondergirls!!
