Girls Generation wishes you a Happy New Lunar Year

Girlsgeneration_200802_popseoul

The nonupluets aka Girls Generation dressed up in their fancy hanboks not to wish all of us a Happy New Lunar Year, but to make sure that we are inundated with their pictures so we don’t forget about them while they go on vacation for the first time since their debut last year.

Girls Generation hope to become the Wondergirls of the Rat year (2008) with their new song “Kissing You.” Maybe they’ll have a better chance with the Wondergirls taking a break, but a limited plastic doll edition isn’t enough to become successful, even in the entertainment industry.

Yeah people, it’s not fair enough to compare SNSD and WG…
    1. The number
    2. The music

SNSD music sounds like the duo from long time ago, M2M or MnM or whatever M with their hit song Mirror Mirror.
And father JYP seems to give his R&B-Hiphop-Rap-Soul and mostly black American (please pardon my language, I’m not discriminating) music style to WG.

    9 vs 5?

What you can compare is though, maybe, the plastic. How much they got in their face. Fair enough?

  2. 2 aime February 7, 2008 at 12:18 pm

they only seem to only wear skirts huh?
i know hanboks are skirts but
when they perform only in supper short skirts.
    are pants that expensive..?

anyway. they will never as good as Wonder Girls.
    who i really miss! ^^

  3. 3 Rowena February 7, 2008 at 12:21 pm

okay besides talent…which I’m not even gonna go into,
I just personally do not like SNSD because their music isn’t appealing to me and I just dont like their image but thats just personally me I’m not comparing them or anything but my own preference….I don’t like them, I gave them a chance but they’re not my cup of tea but to other people maybe they are whatever

    What is this? Modernized hangbok?

  5. 5 lilkrnxangel420 February 7, 2008 at 1:09 pm

i could never tell the difference.. yay for plastic girls!

  6. 6 babycakes February 7, 2008 at 1:18 pm

glad to see taeyeon (the leader!) in the middle and not yoona. other than that, neutral regarding them.

  7. 7 kylie February 7, 2008 at 1:23 pm

OMG! I LOVE their modern hanboks in the first pic! GOD, how I wish I could find these somewhere. I’ve been searching for fusion hanboks since I saw them on Goong, and it seems that I only see them in dramas or pictures! *sniff* I want one tooooooooo!!!!

  8. 8 tammy February 7, 2008 at 1:38 pm

.. i don’t get why people call wonder girl sluts just because they wear skirts? I’m pretty sure SNSD wore skirts (into new world) and they even kicked their legs up so you can clearly see their underwear.
Elle: if they sunny and sooyoung are so talented in mcing, why won’t they just go into that area instead of being in a girl group? … they could be more like back dancers. Hyoyeon has amazing dancing skills, but why would SM put her in a group of cheerleaders? oh goddd. he could’ve made her into a bigger star and earn more MONEY. since thats what father of sm is only focusing on…..

  9. 9 err February 7, 2008 at 2:08 pm

lol @ SF’s comment. Well played sir, well played.

  10. 10 mIcHeLlE-LuVz-KaNgIn February 7, 2008 at 2:18 pm

i’m so not interested about them.

  11. 11 anastasia February 7, 2008 at 2:19 pm

@ joyce and @ Hyo rin: I loved both answers.

I didnt like both groups. They just didnt appeal to me foe various resosn i.e Sohee the little girsl is like 15 years and show all his asset already and now complaining about people disturbence and her freinds paparazzi in her school. Who wouldnt when what WG did to her? As young as her age she didnt have to try hard to be like that. On the other hand also, I didnt like girl Genarations yet I found Tae Youn voice was simply amazing and great when firstly heard her song on drama OST Hong Gil Dong. Very beautiful. If onle Korean entertainment didnt spoil their girls with allllllll those short skirts then I may like thema and support them. I think and really surprised when I observe that Korean Entertainment and life nowaday like waering tooooo mini shirt skirt is something common despit the fact that we and they are Asian.? Try hard maybe.

I rather love Yunha that have pure talent. I didnt buy any sexyness. And i not a Yunha die hard fans. Just appreciated her music so much.

  12. 12 anastasia February 7, 2008 at 2:21 pm

Btw: But the hanbok’s is pretty and wish all the bst for both of the group…:) Sorry for my typo’s in above comments.

SNSD is SM Plastic Girls Choir

  14. 14 wow February 7, 2008 at 3:10 pm

^ a new ignorant title for SNSD, good job.

Why must every WG and SNSD topic go into a WG vs SNSD battle?
I personally like SNSD much more than WG because I took time to listen to them sing.

  15. 15 sweetie14 February 7, 2008 at 4:08 pm

    LUB THEIR HANBOKS!!!!!!!!!!! =__=
i used to hate them but now…im starting to like them O__O

  16. 16 yeondu February 7, 2008 at 6:00 pm

    soo young is the prettiest!

  17. 17 Elle February 7, 2008 at 6:26 pm

Tammy: i agree. sm is a money sucking machine. a smart one at that. but which entertainment company isn’t? it’s all part of the business. we all know it’s hard to make money off music these days, so i don’t really blame record labels for lumping groups of talents together and mass promoting them to gain profit.
on the other hand, i personally think it’s refreshing to see groups like super junior and snsd becaue they offer a variety of talents. they’re really not just singers, they’re entertainers. this makes sense since sm is an entertainment company. i would personally find it boring if all an entertainment group can do is sing well and can do nothing else.
and let’s face it, if each of these girls debuted individually, they would never gain the success all of them as a group have gained so far. in the future, they’ll probably branch out into individual activities anyway, so i think the snsd group thing is only a foundation to give them the initial popularity.

i feel like i am being off the topic with this post, but it’s late and i am trying to escape from my finance homework due tomorrow. lol.

  18. 18 whoknows February 7, 2008 at 6:31 pm

where can i find such hanboks??i want both hanboks, the traditional hanbok and the fusion hanbok..

  19. 19 Elle February 8, 2008 at 12:14 am

  20. 20 Korean Ajusshi February 8, 2008 at 5:56 am

Isn’t it true that SNSD sometimes lacks confidence to sing live while dancing, even though there are nine of them?

  21. 21 sushi.yang February 8, 2008 at 6:07 am

gosh they are SO ADORABLE!!! ^^ imma girl too and yes, i like them.^^ and i don’t thinnk they lack singing live i think they are not use to it yet..but they should now. hahaha how come the grace isn’t doing this too? they are beautiful too.

  22. 22 whatever~ February 8, 2008 at 6:52 am

They look pretty good to me.

  23. 23 Dbsk February 8, 2008 at 1:32 pm

At least they all sing better than Sohee! :)

  24. 24 Mao February 8, 2008 at 7:19 pm

the girl in the middle with the white top n red skirt. it looks like the hanbok Yoon Eun Hye wore in Goong.

  25. 25 Korean Ajusshi February 10, 2008 at 7:05 am

I watched some of SNSD videos on YouTube and it seems that they lip sync, at least half of the times, when performing live.

  26. 26 Natz February 11, 2008 at 11:44 am

Lolz.. It’s hard to take any comment here seriously when the english used is so broken I can’t tell if they are fans or anti-fans. Confusing indeed. Tsk tsk..

  27. 27 don'tcarewatyousay February 28, 2008 at 4:23 pm

i can’t say that are the best nor can i say they stank but i can say they are pretty good

    ~and guess what???
i finally can tell them apart!!! well actually not that i can’t tell who’s face is who it’s putting the name with the face >_< man that’s hard.
wow i haven’t got to do that in a long time hahaha ever since suju debuted hahaha

well, i’m glad they have a girl group but don’t you think sm is dressing up too cute for their age??? i mean they’re teens and it’s not all about being cute and adorable anymore it’s about being HOT! so i just think and hope there will be some results of change haha but either way i still think they are pretty!

    taeyeon is the best!

    sujuLOVE<3

  28. 28 Sunmi March 6, 2008 at 3:08 pm

    uhm yea…

sorry but i really hate girl scouts

cuz most of the girl scouts i know are not modest and good people. they are annoying and cruel people…

and personally i think snsd is way better than wondergirls.

  29. 29 raelinn March 9, 2008 at 12:07 am

Come on guys. What is the use of fighting between Wonder Girls and Girl ’s Generation? I heard some WG fans says SNSD is talentless. May I ask these fans what is talent that you were talking about? For me ,Both WG and SNSD got lots of potential ,talent. Their ability to sing and entertain.
Stop Complaining about Plastic girls. Many many Korean artists had plastic surgs.

  30. 30 anno March 15, 2008 at 4:41 pm

    don’t care what other say
but i love them and their performance
    hahahaha

why people always compare them with WG?
    certainly i love SNSD
their live performance was too good to be compared with WG

  31. 31 Aki. June 10, 2008 at 2:56 am
