Jewelry says “One more time” to “Tell me”

jewelry2_popseoul_20080213.jpg

The all-new Jewelry, complete with new plastic finds, are still testing the market but they’ve already been bombarded with accusations of their new tune “One More Time” being modeled after last year’s radio show-stopper, “Tell Me”. Riding on Wondergirls’ long drawn out reign of Korea’s music play, Jewelry decided to pick up on their winning formula of a trot/disco image. But this was not without adding a huge pinch of sexy into the whole package.

While some may be anticipating a whirlwind comeback for the Jewelry girls, some have contested this by seeing it as bastardizing the innocent and happy recollections of the 80s portrayed by Wondergirls. I can even foresee those policemen who danced along to “Tell Me” looking away in disgust. Is it too early to tell or have the Jewelry girls already bowled their album into the gutter?

    eh.

i think their concept is completely different from “tell me,” though.

You’ve got to be kidding me. I hated “Tell Me” the moment I heard it! It was lame, stupid and the vocals sucked, plus the rap segment was out of place. The dance is stupid. I honestly lost faith in my own countrymen after seeing them fall over for this idiotic song.

I wonder if everyone will be stupid enough to fall for the same dumb formula twice. The sad part is, this song has a different concept from “Tell Me” – except for the senseless part, of course. I’ll leave this country if this becomes a hit.

Park Jung Ah is so hot. So is Lee Hyori. THey need to promote Korean culture in the western hemisphere.

they all look like aging aunties trying to b sexy…

  10. 11 irees February 17, 2008 at 12:12 pm

the song is annoying. and is not catchy at all. it’s horrible to even compare with “tell me”.

  11. 12 anonymus February 18, 2008 at 7:17 am

‘Tell Me’ itself was already the most annoying song on Earth. And now, another “sexier” (MORE LIKE DISGUSTING) version has been created. Suh In Young’s hair cut is still fugly. Park Jung Ah looks ok, I actually think she’s the only one who doesn’t look either skanky or ugly.

  12. 13 steviewonder06 February 19, 2008 at 11:13 am

    this sucked

i dont know what Park Jung Ah was doing here cuz she could make it big as a solo artist -_-

idk what else to say….i was disappointed -_-

  13. 14 wtf. February 19, 2008 at 11:36 am

HOW COULD THIS SONG COPY TELL ME… when it was made way before tell me even came out…

    it’s a cover song….

    google In-grid “One More Time”

    —————————–

Really funny that the girl in the front is the only one doing that pose right. The others look awkward like they’re going to fall over. Also this song REALLY needs to get rid of the accordion. Wtheck so bad.

Oh, before I forget, one of the girls with a bob has an extraordinarily large nose. I hope she didn’t buy that.

Sad part is, from the little bit of their dancing I watched they seemed alright at it. Whoever directed the video was good too, but no. just no.

  15. 16 Andi February 24, 2008 at 3:22 am

Cover of In-Grid’s song “One more time” or French version “Encore un fois”.

One More Time is modeled after that song not Tell Me. You stupid wannabe gossip place

  16. 17 Allie February 24, 2008 at 4:23 pm

this song does not sounds like Tell Me.
I couldn;t watch the whole thing cause it’s
not catchy or anything at all. damn. Park Jung Ah looks
hot. Suh In Young’s hair is ewww. I consider both
Tell Me & One More Time to be seriously annoying.
    though Tell Me is better.

  17. 18 yup February 28, 2008 at 4:37 pm

I totally agree with you Andi. I was listening to In-grid the other night and when I saw this video i was like “hmm… that beat… sounds familiar.” But I first thought of In-grid’s “Tu Es Foutu” when i first saw this video for some reason.

  18. 19 Jasmine March 1, 2008 at 1:55 am

I actually really like “Baby One More Time” song and it’s way better than the original version of it ^^
IMO there is no similarity with Tell Me and ppl should listen to newer songs than that..i would rather want PJA sining this solo

  19. 20 avantgarde March 9, 2008 at 1:23 am

This song is so in trend with world’s music and fashion trends.

The song itself is the reflection of the global phenomenon in Euro Dance/Electronica sounds and their styling is sooo fierce. It’s very futurstic and synthetic, the current fashion trend. Also Bobs and bangs are so in at the moment.

If you ppl don’t have much knowledge about things that are obviously not an interest area of yours, don’t judge.

You wouldn’t want me to be the sports commentator of the day since I know nothing about sports, so why critique their fashion or hairstyles gosh!

  20. 21 H March 26, 2008 at 12:31 pm

The original Jewelry was way much better before this plastic facialized group, my respect for them have kinda dropped. Park Jung Ah is alright, i guess.

  21. 22 funkoffan March 29, 2008 at 11:05 pm

Hahahahahah…I love how people are talking about this song when it is actuallya cover of an Italian woman’s song (which was sung in French btw – Encore une fois / One more time) In-grid. Granted she wasn’t all that successful but just another example of Korean’s stealing someone else’s song and passing it off as their own. I don’t see any resemblance to “tell me” either….

  22. 23 JuJu. April 1, 2008 at 10:29 am

this freakin song is playing way TOO much on MNET. seriously. im getting so freakin tired of the music video and the song. i dont find it addicting nor catchy but just ANNOYING. its like every five minutes on MNET the MV comes on… omo my head’s gonna blow.

no matter how many times they play this mv, its never going to be the nest TELL ME.

  23. 24 £ğöçεή†яỉǺ≈ ŁąñЕTAEJUS April 14, 2008 at 8:29 pm

i say the one in the left has more of a groove. heh (a slutty groove, BUT!! you could never tell by just that.

  24. 25 someday May 10, 2008 at 2:24 am

park jung ah is the best XD

  25. 26 someday May 10, 2008 at 2:33 am

I agree with avantgarde, u pp here don’t judge this song like this jus based on Tell me or whatever

and clearly, this song is a COVER FROM IN GRID, LYRIC BY MINWOO… and if u see this mv on Pop in Seoul, there’s a text at the end of the screen >.< to prove that

I think u people here know how to read ?

  26. 27 hello August 31, 2008 at 3:04 am

HELLO THIS IS SOOOO DIFFERENT THAN THAT STUPID TELL ME.

  27. 28 sotohana November 17, 2008 at 1:55 am

ridiculously funny, everyone that originally commented was wrong.
This song not only BEAT Wonder Girls in various award shows, it went to number one and stayed there for over 2 weeks.

Just goes to show how closed minded people can be.

Jewelry has always had dances with their songs and no offense, BUT I don’t see Wonder Girls making gestures to resemble the lyric such as this chorus lyric, If anything, Wonder Girls copied that with Nobody.

    Jewelry FTW

  28. 29 helen June 21, 2009 at 6:20 am

I’m not sure how it’s done in korea – but, in the U.S. – “sex sells” – so I think the jewelry mv was sexy and catchy too.
