Daniel Henney joins X-Men Origins

Danielhenney_20080220_popseoul

Daniel Henney joined the cast of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, playing Agent Zero, a member of the Weapon X program and an expert tracker with lethal marksman skills.

Even with the recent in flood of Korean talent into the Hollywood industry, Daniel should be able to separate himself with his ability to speak English. I can’t wait to see that body as a super-fighting bad ass agent.

Set your calendars for a May 1, 2009!

    I’ve never felt DH looks smug – cheeky, yes. The only guy I felt disdain for because of his ’smug’ and I-am-the-Greatest’ look is Edison Chen!

    @lim33853

    why does this guy always have a smug smirk in his face?

    advice for henney- it seems in korea this smirk is acceptable but in the states people will think you are a total obnoxious prick assh@le.

    ^^ I totally agree with you, lol! Henney is good-looking for sure, but he’s mixed so what’s so special about that? He does have a very smug and obnoxious smile, quite the turn off. Other than that, he’s a tolerable actor and quite charming when he acts and speaks in english.

    Another one with an obnoxious smirky face is Joo Ji Hoon. Gosh, when he smiles he annoys the heck outta me! And he’s not even half as handsome as Henney.

    One more celebrity with a I-am-da-sh*t smugface is Edison Chen. Make us want to bash his face in, that punk.

  15. 15 spin February 25, 2008 at 2:08 am

    daniel henney is physical perfection. Now, only if he can act – then I could actually stand getting through his films (and I tried so hard to make it past 15 minutes of Seducing Mr. Perfect).

    Agreed w/ Ji Hoon & double that for edison – edison never had *anything* to begin w/ (looks, talent, height, brains, etc)…. now Daniel Henney looks better – at least in print ;)

  16. 16 Jukeboxx February 25, 2008 at 3:28 am

    He’s a perfect man, he’s good looking, tall, classy. BUT I agree, his acting isn’t all that good. But I love that guy, So i have faith in him =]

  22. 22 Megan February 25, 2008 at 8:47 am

    haha. I bet none of these Korean-imported musicians will actually make it into Hollywood.

    It’s just that the Koreans are getting big egos (again) and all think that their talents can 100% make it into America.

  23. 23 Megan February 25, 2008 at 8:48 am

    Although I think Daniel Henney’s going to be great. But you all fail to remember that he’s of American nationality. Not KOREAN.

  24. 24 Ali February 25, 2008 at 8:50 am

    wow, looking forward to that! Im sure he ll be a hit! <3

  25. 25 xtnlee February 25, 2008 at 10:19 am

    yeah he’s half & half so he’ll make it big here in America. he’s a hottiee.

  26. 26 bu0nr0ithisa0 February 25, 2008 at 12:02 pm

    ooh that’s my 21th birthday too.

  28. 29 sf February 25, 2008 at 12:48 pm

    The English speaking thing’s a big plus. It’s nice to see him testing new waters. I’m a little wary about his acting but I hardly think a role called “Agent Zero” will demand too much acting skill anyway. It’ll be nice to see at least 2 hotties in one movie tho – Hugh Jackman is fine~

    @ Megan
    Sans the fact that this topic has nothing to do with Korean-imported musicians, it’s disappointing how you seem to think showing support for fellow countrymen is something to be ashamed of. If DH makes it – it wouldn’t have been because of his American nationality, I can tell you that much. It would’ve been his English speaking ability, his looks, or his acting skill. If being ‘American’ were the secret to success, we would’ve never seen the likes of Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, or Ricky Martin. Before they debuted in America, they came riding on the support of the fans they already had in their country.

    Also the last time I checked, the color of your skin or whether you spoke perfect English didn’t make you ‘American.’ America’s greatest strength is how the different cultures and races can balance out each other – it’s what sets us free and lets us be who we are and to be loved for it. The fact that DH is bi-racial is part of who he is and the fact that one of those races is already supporting him in his endeavors is not something to belittle. Any true blue American would celebrate any attempt by other cultures to introduce their representatives to mainstream America; for a bi-racial actor to ‘make it’ would be celebration of Korean, Asian, and American culture. Everyone wins. The belief that being something other than your select ‘race’ or nationality – those are the thoughts that launched everything from the Jim Crow laws to WWII. America is built on the belief that success is not limited to the white, the rich, or the male. The hopes that a small country in Asia may have to send a big star in Hollywood is the stuff America is made of – dreams and the chance to make it come true. For someone who’s so proud of what America stands for, you represent America’s ideals very poorly.

  29. 30 Angela February 25, 2008 at 1:56 pm

    Woohoo SF! Well said.

    What’s you’re problem Megan?

    Like SF said, there is nothing wrong with supporting your countrymen… It’s tough for Asians… even Asian-Americans to make it in Hollywood. It doesn’t mean that they should stop trying to break Asian artists into the the US.

    And… while Daniel Henney is American he owes most of his popularity and success thus far to Korea. Yea.. he’s not fully Korean but I’m sure that even he would agree that the KOREAN side of him has shaped who he is today.

    Koreans can be proud of Henney if he makes it big in the US. KOREA is where it all started for him.

    AND.. you don’t have to remind us that he’s American. That’s 90% of the reason why he’s so popular in Korea anyways.

    What’s with your negativity?

  30. 31 Dovey February 25, 2008 at 2:30 pm

    Man, I gotta see this. =D

  31. 32 ashley February 25, 2008 at 2:55 pm

    Wow. I don’t care whether daniel henney is american or korean..
    But PopSeoul has got to stop sounding so ego-tistical.

    ie: “We are proud to see Korea influencing Chinese culture.”

  32. 33 penguin_x3 February 25, 2008 at 3:26 pm

    dude, can i just say sexy? hahahaha!! plus he doesn’t even understand nor speak korean very well, the last time i heard. whatever it is…SEXY =P

  33. 34 jicks February 25, 2008 at 4:46 pm

    @Ladeeda
    I’m disagreeing w/ ya! Yeah Daniel is fine-o-lookin’ but gimme Ju Ji Hoon any day <3

    And guys, can we give Edison a break already! He’s copped his fair share of flak & then some!

  34. 35 weet February 25, 2008 at 7:50 pm

    OH MY GOD!!! i have been waited for this moment….he is something real hot and talent…i love …love him and glad to see him in hollywood.DANIEL YOU ARE MY SUPER STAR!!!!

  35. 37 Meru February 25, 2008 at 11:56 pm

    Interesting, with his good looks, I’m sure he’ll get a good reception. If they’re following the comic, his character will be a hunting Wolverine down in the jungle? Hmm sexy. And Gambit, I hope they don’t screw up his character, like they did to Rouge.

  36. 38 tenretni February 26, 2008 at 2:43 am

    figured everybody would be excited… he is bleh to me.. he`s too hot, just too much hotness everywhere, to the point where i can`t even stand looking at a pic of him anymore… how can someone be this hot?? thats wrong, he should share some with Fany or Hwanhee or plastic face…

    i wish him luck though… but my questioin is, will in stay in Hallyuwood after he makes it big in the Us? or will he say “annyong” to all his korean fans???

  37. 39 irees February 26, 2008 at 9:07 am

    wow. man. i’m excited. i think this guy could so make into the US, if he does really well in x-men. and i mean X-MEN! can’t go wrong with that!

  38. 40 Amanda February 26, 2008 at 10:09 am

    Korea’s over nationalism and egos really bother me. =.=

  39. 41 SHK February 26, 2008 at 10:50 am

    I never heard of Daniel Henney until today when I found out about the upcoming movie X-Men. I don’t care where he comes from as long as he can deliver good acting skills to make the movie enjoyable.

    I “Wikipedia” him and his dad is an American from British decent and his mom is an American who was an adoptee from Korea. I just want to state this fact for those who don’t know.

    Daniel and Dennis Oh are similar in terms of where they come from and how they started: modeling. Another trivia.

    Yes, Korea’s nationalistic pride and ego bother me too, Amanda. You’re not alone.

  40. 42 weet February 26, 2008 at 12:36 pm

    it’s cant help if korea pround of him ,coz not so many korean can go for inter ent.even if he’s not really considered to be 100% korean,lol….he can make it!

  41. 43 december rain February 26, 2008 at 2:27 pm

    why does everyone say he acts horribly?
    well
    he was ridiculously awful in samsoon and that other movie
    but My Father was suprisingly good!
    maybe cause he was actually speaking english than, but still he really improved his acting abilities

    anyways…
    on the whole x man thing…how big of a role will he be?
    I just have a feeling he’s gonna be onscreen for 5 minutes

  42. 44 Ladeeda February 26, 2008 at 6:02 pm

    @Dumplings and @Spin

    Eddie boy certainly got more than he bargained for, lol. I almost feel sorry for him, almost….just for the fact that he owned up and took responsibility for it. Now if only he acted as wholeheartedly in his HK flicks as he does for his homemade movies…. *snicker*

    @Jicks

    What can I say? Different folks, different strokes! XD Daniel Henney is more marketable than Joo Ji Hoon, and I’d listen to him charming his way through an english speaking film any day over Ji Hoon’s obnoxious mug and stiff acting!

  43. 45 Skina February 26, 2008 at 7:08 pm

    NEXT year?????my my may 2008 is long enough!!
    for my henney,no pwoblemo..just bring it!
    he may’ve outcasted all the other x-mens..bewareeee~

  44. 46 romar February 26, 2008 at 7:17 pm

    Korean, American, Asian or whatever that role is such a big break for Daniel. Why can’t we be happy for him and gosh, a smirk won’t kill you. May 2009 that is such a long time to wait but who cares!

  45. 47 Vix February 27, 2008 at 3:06 am

    damn, i’ll watch it!
    He’s effin hot!!

  46. 48 calla February 28, 2008 at 9:38 pm

    @romar

    No offense meant, but a smirk would irritate the heck out of you. And that’s what his smirk does, to me at least. His face reads: “I’m high and mighty and better than you”. That alone can shoo a potential fan in me (and in others, too). I have to get past that smirking little face of him to watch his work. Right now, I can’t, because I’m irritated. This reminds me, Jang Hyuk also carries a smirking feature, but it doesn’t translate to the high and mighty bull…that Henney has. His is more of a necessary feature to create a nice and unique facial expression that belongs to him only. Henney, on the other hand, is pure irritating. So there you go!
