Master YG revealed that Big Bang’s Seung Ri was double casted as the male lead in the musical called “Rain Shower”, which will run from April 12 to May 5 at the M Theater in the Seoul Sejong Center for the Performing Arts.
According to Seung Ri, the challenge of singing and acting on stage attracted him to the project. Good to see Seung Ri keeping himself busy, just like his other BB buddies as their Japanese debut turns out to be a flop.

They’re lucky they’re classified as underground and not pop in Japan. I don’t think they can handle the fierce competition in the jpop category.
Big Bang may hit it “big” in Japan, but I still don’t see them as “underground”, even if they are with an independent label.
They still sound mainstream to me.

it’s just that they aren’t preforming on broadcasted shows…they are doing lives underground and unbroadcasted. i think that’s why they aren’t getting much recognition but i’m glad they are starting out slow rather than at the TOP right now cause they need more time to adjust to the way japanese people are. i believe that the best way to get to know your fans is by doing the small underground performances.

I hope fans aren’t confusing official oricon charts with world oricon charts cause they are completely different from each other. They aren’t competing with jpop artists hence they could chart high on world oricon charts. That means you can sell a paltry 5,000 copies and brag that you hit the top ten on oricon.

I think some people are confused about what mainstream and underground mean in musical terms. Debuting in the Top 20 and then climbing to #10 IS good for a foreign debut group with little promotion on and independent label. The definition of underground is a group of music that has developed a cult following (as in, an intimate group of fans)independent of commercial success. It’s also how a lot of hip-hop artists start out since hip-hop isn’t exactly the genre of choice in Japan. Musically, mainstream is something familiar to the masses, which Big Bang are not (in Japan). But, as happyKPOPlover mentioned, there are reports of them releasing in the World Music section, which I’m pretty sure isn’t competing with Japanese releases.
All in all, it wasn’t a complete flop. They’re doing a helluva lot better than some wannabe international stars I could mention.
I don’t think they flopped in Japan. They entered into the Oricon charts (even if it is world Oricon, they still entered it) and are doing pretty well–>better than expected.

they do write some of their songs…TOP writes his own raps as shown in his solos, seungri creates some of their dances, I’m not really sure about taeyang or daesung though, their just really cute to look at =P

yeah. I think it cause GD writes the best songs and theylve become really big hits that’s why…they all put effort into it though…I love how in the interviews he doesn’t talk about how HE composes it but how ALL the members put effort into it and helping hm out and all that…such a true leader this boy is
