Hip Hop leader, Drunken Tiger is trying to escape the hoods of Seoul and go over to the glamorous Hollywood. The outspoken artist is currently residing in LA meeting execs from various agencies to find the “right” role. What a twist! If anything, I expected Drunken Tiger to release an album with an independent record label since he actually speaks English, not Engrish.
So, is acting the only way to debut in America? If so, then how will Se7en’s long overdue debut play out in the future?

Interesting….
Really? Acting? That’s unexpected.
His personality would make it much better here.
Hhoever he is good luck to him. but too many ppl are jumping on this acting train and not taking a chance like Se7en is. But less competion for Se7en I guess.
Aww.. I was hoping for an album release. But good luck to him!
life in the seoul hoods must be tough eh
No…Se7en knows his place is in the music industry…He doen’t need to act….ever..
I love tiger JK.
I definitely want to see this Asian American on-screen.
American doesn’t appreciate the gems they have
oh, and for the love of the fangirls, please keep se7en away from acting….
It’s much more difficult for Asians to break out into the hip hop industry than the movie industry. The only Asian rapper I can think of is Jin, and although he’s extremely talented, he’s far from mainstream.
Se7en has acted… and not to be mean or anything, but se7en is better of as a singer than an actor. his acting is rather average ^^.
drunkentiger can be casted as drunken master XD. just kidding, that´s unexpected. but who knows, he might have hidden talents as an actor.
his name is tiger jk
LOL @Kylie. I think Se7en definitely realized that acting was not for him after Goong S…
@ Jane
I was gonna say exact same thing.
@ Jackie
So true, Drunken Tiger is the group’s name (even though there were only 2 members…). Thats like saying Tablo’s name is “Epik High”
you’re missing the c in ‘execs’
This guy is THE pioneer of Korean hip-hop. Actually more like conscious rap in Korea. You have well known Korean underground hip-hop artists (i.e.: The Quiett, E-Sens, Kebee, MC Meta, etc…) who have been influenced by Tiger JK. Also, can’t leave out the fact that he has influenced artists like Epik High, Dynamic Duo, Tasha, Leessang, and other Movement Crew members as well.
Not only is he an established MC and household name in Korea, he’s already well known here in the States as well, obviously mostly with the second generation Koreans and he’s already highly known in the underground hip-hop world in the U.S. as well. He got his start doing freestyle battles around L.A. and debuted with his solo album titled “Call Me Tiger,” which was a hit here, but not in Korea at the time (released in 1992).
He doesn’t need to establish himself as a musician here in the States because he already is. So, acting is the most logical to him. I don’t see him going into acting because that’s the fad right now with stars like Rain, Lee Byung Hun, Jang Dong Geun, Jun Ji Hyeon, etc…
Truthfully, I see his success in more independent films than trying Hollywood because we all know or have some idea what sort of role he would end up with. Good luck Tiger JK. Peace. One Love. From a HUGE Drunken Tiger fan.
you said it.
the powers that be will be making this known to the world soon.
if anything, the States are coming to him –
check it. Rakim x Drunken Tiger track coming soon:

tiger rocks!
tiger was at kollaboration 8.
Hes probably as old as my grandad.. hehe..
jk.
i dont kno why but whenver i see hair under a mans armpits and he looks damn ugly, that just turns me off.
what i wrote does not relate to the guy on the post with a white undershirt on and hes korean with jeans, u kno the guy in the picture. yeah.
^^
It’s not “overdue” – media reporters don’t even know when he’ll debut so thus they make up dates to get people to read their news. Preparing a singing debut takes a lot of time. If anything, the longer Se7en’s preparation is – the better.
But I do hope Tiger JK does well here, but so far most of the Asians/Asian-Americans in Hollywood have been in STEREOTYPICAL roles.
8:45~~
@ Drunken Tiger Fan
Actually its yes and no.
JK and Shrine aren’t the only ones who popularized hip-hop in Korea. There was DJ Doc before them which is 1994.
Before DJ DOC there was Seo Tai ji with Will smith-ish hip hop.
Se7en can act. People just didn’t give him a chance.
Popseoul! His name is Tiger JK….not Drunken Tiger!!!
i wonder if all the koreans come together at once they can a nice group rate from KOREAN AIR.

Popseoul! His name is Tiger JK….not Drunken Tiger!!!
LOL
POPS, you going to have a article with DRUNKEN TIGER winning the golf US open?
—————-
Tiger JK is awesome. And ditto to what Drunken Tiger Fan said- he’s not going to have to ‘establish’ his name here, at least not to the extent to which other Koreans entering the entertainment industry are going to have to. He’s known.
never heard of him before. Seems like everybody wants to venture out of KOrea bc they don’t make much.
JK looks so hot..
according to drunkencamp.com
JK is Diagnosed with myelitis and full recovery is impossible..i wish he won’t suffer more pain and tiredness from actin (although i want to see and check him out on screen)..i juz want to listen his songs..
whatever..all the best to him..
i wish DJ.Shine pops out in entertainment as well..
May* have you been living under a rock?! How have you not heard of JK? Drunken Tiger even. Sheesh~!
is it me or does his armpit hair look like its jumped onto his upper arm instead of staying where it’s supposed to?
i wonder if the the banner should really read
“POPSEOUL, TRYING TO UNDERSTAND FRESH ENTERTAINMENT AND STYLE FROM POSTERS WHO REALLY DO KNOW”
IM SUCH A BIATCH!
HI TAEJUS
People, Drunken Tiger is still technically Drunken Tiger even though its just Tiger JK, so Popseoul is correct! Check it if you don’t believe me.
Oh cool. I hope to see him make it. He’s kind of a legend, isn’t he?
Tiger JK is hot! He definitely has a real charm
about him. Whether it’s going to be acting or
rapping debut here in the States, I wish him
all the luck he can get!
LOL @ bkjsuh..
it’s dj shine not shrine.
Uhm…BKJSuh…like I said in the my post. He and DJ Shine were the pioneers of conscious hip-hop in Korea. As for DJ D.O.C., they didn’t start out as hip-hop. On their debut in 1994, they considered themselves as pop with elements of rap, but as they came back after their former company went bankrupt, with their 5th album, THAT is when they changed to the hip-hop genre.
Their 4th album does have hints here and there of a hip-hop feel, but DJ D.O.C. did not claim themselves as hip-hop until their 5th album. Trust me, their first 4 albums were NOT anywhere near hip-hop. I mean I like them, but come on their hit songs “Murphy’s Law,” “Dance with DOC,” “Superman,” “Summer Story,” “Winter Story,” etc… are not hip-hop. Sorry to burst your bubble.
As for Seo Taiji…he did NOT introduce hip-hop to Korea. I repeat DID NOT bring in hip-hop to Korea when he debut. He did rap in his song “I Know,” but that doesn’t justify that he brought in hip-hop to Korea.
Yes, he’s the first to rap in Korean, which was never done until he debuted, but that’s not hip-hop sorry. I mean look at his later albums and all you hear is rock influenced beats excluding songs like “Come Back Home,” which mimicked its sound after Cypress Hill.
Drunken Tiger, Jo PD, Honey Family, and Kim Jin Pyo were the one’s who brought in ACTUAL hip-hop, which has steadily grown into what it is now with people like Epik High, Leessang, Dynamic Duo, Tasha, Garion, The Quiett, Kebee, E-Sens, Jiggy Fellaz, Joosuc, etc… to continue on what Drunken Tiger first upstarted in Korea.
That is why EVERYONE in the music business refer to Drunken Tiger as the “godfather and first pioneers of hip-hop” into Korea. If you go to Korea now and say Seo Taiji and DJ DOC introduced hip-hop to Korea before Drunken Tiger, they’d laugh at you and think you’re crazy. No joke.
Disclaimer: I am not an anti-Seo Taiji or DJ DOC. I like their music and have their albums, but I just want others to know the truth about who really started hip-hop in Korea.
JK oppa is like the most chrismatic performer on stage in Korea I’ve ever seen. Every time I see him performing I wish I was there. If he can use that chrisma in acting, I know he’s gonna succeed. I wish Shine oppa also comes back to entertainment. I miss him so much. I’m a big seo taiji fan, but I honestly think DT is the best artist in Korea. DT music is so addicting. It’s a shame that I didn’t find that out earlier when they first came out.
@Drunken Tiger Fan
dude…you must be a TRUE CRAZY OBSESSED fan of this guy cause you know like literally everything about him..kudos to you knows, and just by reading your comments…I’ve learned so much more about him. haha. I only though he was hot, but i didnt know he was legend.
ANYWAYS, Koreans need to stop coming to America, beacuse they need to give other Asians a chance. Haha. Money ain’t everything in this world people. love what you got and keept it that way
^Me obsessed? Not even close Penguin. A huge fan? Yes. However, I’m just regurgitating what I’ve read in Drunken Tiger’s biography, which I happened to find on a site devoted to Drunken Tiger called drunkencamp.com. The owner of this site is a good friend of mine who is really close friends with Drunken Tiger and Tasha.
She knows things about them I don’t know at all. She’s obsessed, not me. Haha…
@Drunken Tiger Fan
I just read an article about when Tiger JK first debuted in Korea.
This music show producer played roora song and
told him THIS is real hip hop.
I was in elementary school when roora used to be popular and I thought roora was hip pop group too. LOL.
Yeah. I can imagine he got a lot of that crap when he first debuted with DJ Shine. According to an interview I saw on the Internet of Drunken Tiger from the earlier days, he told the interviewer that he had a lot of music show producers size them up by saying, “You think your music is REAL hip-hop? This (i.e.: Seo Tai Ji, Roora, HOT, Sechskies, etc.) is real. You have to sound like them.”
I saw JK’s facial expression when he was explaining this and he looked hella pissed, haha…I mean who wouldn’t when their told pop music with like 30 seconds of rapping is “REAL hip-hop.”
Weird…cause I remember Roora too. I was in elementary school too when Roora was popular, but I thought they and Korean music in general was crap at that age (5th grade) because I was listening to people like Tupac, Notorious BIG, New Edition, Snoop Dogg, etc. Yes…surprising, huh?
Now Korean music (mainly Korean hip-hop) and some American underground hip-hop music is all I listen to.
god I love him!
Here are some good songs from Drunken Tiger:
