Will May Doni surpass Se7en?

Maydoni_20080228_popseoul

May Doni is dubbed the “female Se7en” but that’s an under-statement. Her voice is better than Se7en’s and she has his moves down to the beat – she just needs a new stylist to surpass the MIA singer.

I have my bets on May Doni but what do you think?

Will May Doni surpass Se7en?
1) Of course – she’s the next Se7en

2) Never – no one will outdo Se7en

3) Maybe – let’s wait and see

4) I don’t care

this girl is GOOD. love her vocals. Sad thing is i don’t quite like her image, but whatever, her vocals and charisma makes up for everything.

    se7en rocks!

I’ve seen her debut performance on youtube. I like her voice, it’s so much better than other female singers have in Korea. But she has to drop that look…

Yes I would consider this a perfect example for people to use as a comparison. She knew she was being video taped, knew there was a chance of it getting posted online and knew others would be comparing it to SE7EN. Why else would she be dancing to his song? She should have given it everything she had and if this is everything then there are many people who are unimpressed.

And let’s end the “let’s see you try it” line. You don’t have to be a professional to know something doesn’t look quite right. If you’re going to list dancing as one of your main skills then you can expect people to be watching and criticizing, especially if you’re not at the level you’re hyping.

i like her dance moves somewhat.^^
and im realy curiuos DUMPLING, what do you like? do u hate the korean indusrty sooooo much that u evn find the time to bash almost evry artist. and im also curiuos abt this too, which star do you admire? (doesnt matter where they’re from.)

surpass se7en? Popseoul apparently has no talent and seeing whose the best. Her voice I must say is a tad bit better but her dancing is no where near se7en’s level. Se7en’s top talent! well not so much, but better than May Doni…if anything se7en probably help create her

i like may doni but i LOVE se7en…
the first time i heard her sing acapella i was amazed..
    but i don’t think she’s gonna surpass se7en…
she’s good but not better than se7en…

    Gina and angelbaby are correct.
I like korean music, but listen to it too much, and you’re guaranteed to get diabetes.
There’s just too much sugary pop/R&B going on right now.
Only the crazy fan boys and girls could cope with that LOL.
There’s nothing really edgy in korean music at the moment.
If korean artists want success out here in the west, they need to come up with some serious uniqueness.

man, this girl should debut with min in the US
    she has MAD POTENTIAL
i love her dancing and singing it rocks and it all seems so natural

  11. 11 bloo March 10, 2008 at 8:16 am

I can’t take her dancing serious when she looks like a midget. It just isn’t powerful.

  12. 12 Love-Peace-Music March 10, 2008 at 8:21 am

haha i was way too distracted by the backgroud dancer on the right to notice her dancing XP…that all ive got to say…

  13. 13 May March 10, 2008 at 8:38 am

    talented? yes
    charismatic? no

and why does she look like she’s 4 feet?

  14. 14 Beckbeck March 10, 2008 at 10:09 am

She’s a really good singer but I wouldn’t compare her to Se7en exactly, plus her dancing looks like any other girl k-pop group I’ve seen-crappy.

  15. 15 JGirl4You March 10, 2008 at 11:19 am

Se7en is unique, I think she’ll have her own style

  16. 16 miyoung March 10, 2008 at 11:46 am

someone posted a youtube link to may doni’s live debut. i don’t know about other people, but that’s what I was using for my comparison

  17. 17 nx512 March 10, 2008 at 2:19 pm

    she’s a freaking midget

  18. 18 Dumpling March 10, 2008 at 7:38 pm

    @ Taejus

Here’s some advice for you: when you’re going to ask someone a question (assuming you are really looking for an answer) you don’t accuse them of something else at the same time. What’s it going to be–a serious question or just a lame accusation? Make up your mind.

not to be all mean or negative or anything.. i just feel like ger moves aren’t that powerful as min.. but maydoni has a better voice than min.. so idk.

She’s adorable!!!! But she seems really young..how old is she? Maybe they should’ve waited a bit more until she matured and grew a bit.

Her voice is GREAT. Her dancing is not to my liking, but it just reminds me of that Asian group on Randy Jackson’s America’s Best Dance Crew. It’s hip and modern. She has waaayyyy too much makeup. It makes her look like a future skank. It would be better if they tone down on the dancing and concentrate on her voice and the songs. Sometimes, kpop concentrates too much on dancing and not enough on advancing the actual music and talented vocalists out there.

I think it would be a huge mistake if they force her to become like those uglifying SNSD and WonderGirl bimbos with zero talent. Koreans need to take a break from the superficiality or their music will NEVER advance. Even when an artist is talented, all they do is talk about how pretty/handsome they are. (maybe with the exception of BigBang) I think MayDoni should come up with a concept like JOJO in the U.S., who debuted when she was 13 and is a huge success.

  21. 21 yaya March 11, 2008 at 1:08 pm

xoxo: right? It’s all about handsome, beautiful, and aegyo. Where’s the rock? Where’s the soul? Where’s the jazz? Where’s the real hiphop mcs? No. Only watered down R&B music.

  22. 22 Se7en March 11, 2008 at 2:25 pm

Please.. you can’t compare a newbie to se7en..

female se7en my left butt cheek..

she’s just gonna end up like all them other girls.. yeah she sings well but so does other washed out female artists… the fame is gonna get to her head and she’s just gonna become like all the rest.. OVERRATED

  23. 23 han March 14, 2008 at 8:09 pm

whatever i haven’t heard her voice yet but her move is so so. You need a dancer who’s better than boa on stage to surpass Se7en. Charisma? there ain’t any there

  24. 24 Orchid899 March 15, 2008 at 8:00 am

She’s got talent, but needs polishing. She reminds me more of a grasshopper than Se7en. She bounces & hops around too much. I can’t stand it when she shakes her head from side to side like that. She looks like a cheerleader.

  25. 25 Strawberryz April 14, 2008 at 5:58 am

her dancing is kind of strange… i don’t know why. But how can you even compare her voice to se7en’s? He’s a male artist, and she’s a female artist. They’re both different.

From what I’ve seen…Rain and DBSK seems to be the best entertainment Korea has to offer. And the girls?..they don’t stand a chance. I am curious to know why women have to be the “female seven or rain” to get people’s attention. No originality. Why?
