Cannes award winner, Jeon Do Yeon bagged another Best Actress award for her performance in the movie Secret Sunshine at the 2nd Asian Film Awards today in Hong Kong.
Secret Sunshine also bagged the best movie and best director awards. Who knew that a story of a Korean tragic widow will become an international sensation?

She is an experienced and very good actress.

okeydoke — It’s the way Jeon Do-Yeon transforms herself in her roles that puts in the same air as Choi Min Sik and Kong Sang Ho in terms of real acting. One year she’s playing a shy, impish 17-year old girl from the 50s who’s hopelessly crushing for her teacher. The next year, she plays a wife in a steamy adulterous affair. She is so convincing in both roles that you can’t believe they are the same person. Brilliant AND fearless.

Annnnnnnnnnnd, she’s so super-friggin-awesome that she can play *opposite* herself, like she did in My Mother the Mermaid where she played both the sullen daughter and the daughter’s goofy-but-sweet mother as a young woman–often in the same scenes together!

When I’ve watched Secret Sunshine, i didn’t like the movie. I really really hated its sordid ending because she totally has lost hope in the end. Moreover, kudos to Jeon Do-yeon for baggin’ another award! I love this actress, especially when I’ve watched her in You Are my Sunshine
(continuation) Happy End, and Untold Scandal. She was not so great in Lovers in Prague but she’s so hilarious there!
