Se7en must be having a hard time swallowing POPSEOUL!’s review of his White Day party, for he unleashed his promoters to spam our comment section and to send us malicious emails.
How unfortunate because POPSEOUL! has no plans to retract or stop expressing our opinions. But we do have several tips for Se7en and his PR camp to better handle the situation in the future.
1) Hold interviews in English
What’s the point of hosting a party in NYC if you cannot hold a simple interview in English? Last Friday night was the perfect opportunity for Se7en to practice, but I guess the ESL student wasn’t up for the challenge.
2) Learn to take the heat
Have you ever heard of the phrase “No publicity is bad publicity,” or “There’s no such thing as bad press”? Realize that there will be unfavorable articles and learn to take criticisms gracefully, since you are a public figure - albeit a small one.
3) Hire better promoters
It looks like promoters Rainstone Live and BaseNYC didn’t do their homework when they sent us Se7en’s White Day Party invitations. POPSEOUL! was, and always will be an opinion driven blog that infuses sarcasm and humor into every article. But Nelson from Rainstone Live thought POPSEOUL! was a fan site and when he found out that it wasn’t, he left a lengthy comment and sent us an email that states
Harry tell steve to tell popseoul, they will never be invited to any events rainstone live / swerve / base puts together or is involved in.
I guess Nelson is incapable of sending his own emails since he had to ask two people to email us a simple message.
4) Refrain from inviting POPSEOUL! in the future
If last week’s White Day Party is the best you can do, please refrain from sending us invitations. We do not want to waste our time and money on events that lack substance and professionalism.
Pop in:
Se7en fails to impress at the White Day Party
Windfalls and real estate is the forecast for Se7en in the Year of the Rat
When will Se7en debut in the US?

hahah nicely said!
Ugh… Never liked him, and never will.
weak. can’t even take a little bit of criticism? like popseoul said, there are bound to be ppl who don’t like se7en. don’t start crying like hyori when ppl say they don’t like you. take it like a man.
it was more basenyc and se7en’s promoters who were ass hurt… but very well written… good job.
Its America - Free speech is allowed…
Sorta.
Anyway, Se7en is bloated, he looks and sounds gangster, and for a rich, korean boy-man, it’s ridiculous. Go back to your roots man, review your earlier albums.
Maybe his face is fat ’cause his ego is in his (butt?)cheeks. Maybe that’s why his party smelled like farts!
I actually enjoyed this article. Thanks, Popseoul.
And Steve, please tell Harry to pass this message to Se7en.
“Get your ass back to Korea pronto!”
you know?
Ive been reading your blog for a while.
And I usually defend you.
but I think im done now.
there is a line between opinion and straight libel/slander sometimes.
all it takes are a few comments from a damn blog to get them all riled up?
how are you going to survive in the freaking American music industry like that?
se7en is becoming black boy…
well said popseoul, well said
No hate to Se7en, but dude…
you’re right popseoul, they should know how you tend to write your articles, and thus if they sent you the invite, they should expect reviews regarding the event to be written…why the hell are they complaining to you when you are expressing your thoughts - FREEDOM OF SPEECH yo.
and i agree with ash, an article from one blog and that pisses them off? seriously, if they can’t take a tiny bit of criticism, how the hell is he going to survive in the American music industry.
i guess se7en is so high maintenance that he needs his “people” to violate our civil right of free speech/opinion. why doesn’t he just take reality like a man.
haha seriously!! i totally agree! a star is bound to have some antifans!
even if some of us are not antifans, success comes from criticism, nobody’s perfect and everybody, even if it is a superstar, has to learn from something to get to a successful level.
anyway, i love popseoul’s blog; it updates me on the latest korean news and i am now quite fond of the korean entertainment industry! THANKS!
It’s a free country. Do you.
Dear Grace,
Do yourself a favor and learn what libel and slander are before you make lame comments.
Dear Popseoul,
keep on, keepin’ on.
BTW. I hope they paid for your media passes.
So they invited you to the event and expected you to write a whole article praising Se7en afterwards? Ridiculoussssssss.
Are you serious??? they got butt hurt because of a what was written in a BLOG?? what a lack of professionalism…they sound like a little kid who got angry and said “i don’t want to be your friend any more! *pouts*”
sounds like se7en is not in good hands…
omg omg! soo funny. POST UP WHAT THEY SENT TO POPSEOUL. GOOoOOOO pOPPp SEOUl!!!!!
hahahah OUCH, se7en and his entourage just got BURNEDDD by the popseoul sisters!
yeah seriously, they have to realize that here in the U.S., there’s freedom of speech and expression. lol
anyway, i still like Se7en, i wish him the best of luck in the U.S.
cuz common people, he’s our fellow korean!!! we wanna be proud of our boy!
ps. and i’d say he’s pretty good and talented too
yay popseoul! well said!
LOL!! I love this article.
Suck it in and take in criticism!!Be a man~
He can’t expect every single person or fan to think their idol “rocks so much” even thou their idol “suck so much”.
I give a big huge 5 stars to Popseoul on this article lmao!
I do not dislike Se7en but I’m neither his fan, but I think he is talented, and could survived in American if him and his promoters aren’t so much of a sissies, scaredy-cat. I mean GET REAL! It’s AMERICA! Eat or be eaten!
But I guess Se7en have done enough eating for a while, he looks like he gained some weight. xD
Wish him well, if he try his best he’ll be huge but if he just want to be a wannabe, go back to Korea then.
I think Se7en is a fantastic singer and I’m sure his english is good enough because a year or two ago, he recorded a message in english for some awards ceremony in malaysia? or somewhere near there, and it was pretty good. And it has been a while since that time. Se7en should be more confident in himself. Maybe get out more and interact more in public?
Se7en’s progress in America is better than a lot of other people who came here before…
What a big baby! Yeah, he’s not ready for the US.
maybe they should pay you to write good reviews! ^_^ yeah…money should do the trick…lol.
LOL. Wow. Funny.
I liked Se7en too. I hope he’s not behind all of this
and his managers and YG are actually behind it.
That’d suck.
seven gets pwned.
hah~! hah
i think nelson sucks!
se7en will be much better without them
hah hah~ it’s a joke to take those things public, that also explains how “well” this company is rolling…hah
first, se7en’s pr is not handling this well.
second, POPSEOUL has a great fan base (aka regular visitors), n they (se7en’s team) should be appreciative to hve news about them here. no bad news is bad. publicity is all good. please.
third, they should have explained y se7en didn’t sing live etc. or any confusion w/ the invitation. this way we can continue to love se7en, spam n crappy emails =bad idea.
forth, i love this blog b/c it’s not all about love but about serious opinions w/ sarcasm. FULL OF SPICY NEWS FROM POPSEOUL.
koreanamerican gangster baby!
what i really thought that got nelson mandelees(free seven) pantys all bunched up was that most of the replies in that post was not about seven at all. it was about intelligent opinions and veiwpoints of posters concerning the lack of asian artists sucess in the us market. we were talking about past failures and the reasons why and maybe even some answers…
what we were actually conversing about was what HE should be doing, and it pained him because alot of our ideas were correct.LOL
POST OF THE YEAR
————————-
“Let me guess, you couldn’t get into any of the nightclubs so you decided to get married at a young age”
WTF!!! LMAO (i couldnt even make that up)
Go Johnny go
Go
Go Johnny go
Go
Johnny B. Goode
Somehow I feel like a piece of the story is missing.
oooooh-weeeeee!!! damn! those be some fightin’ words!
well at least we have one thing in common, popseoul. we both think those parties are a waste of time and money! BORING!
but seriously…why are we promoting foreigners? we should get someone whose an as-am with some MAJOR talent. if we can’t find one…then hands down the ONLY person worthy of breakin thru the US charts is CHA SOO KYUNG…she’s a raw talent. she just needs to find her own style first.
Nicely said. Seriously, if they wanted praise, then they should’ve done something worthy of it. Not a great way to start off.
Se7en, please go back to Korea where you are already known and loved. No need getting greedy for fans. You might gain a few white ones (no offense) but you’ll most likely lose more if you keep this up.
Has he signed onto a major record label yet?
i just want to remind everybody how the nytimes responded to Rain’s “debut” here in America (aka Rainstone Live):
“He’s a product of the globalization that pumps American products through worldwide media channels. People who fear mass-market threats to local styles need look no further for an example. If there’s anything beyond the lyrics that’s particularly Korean about Rain’s songs, it’s not obvious.
… Seeing him onstage was like watching old MTV videos dubbed into Korean.
Rain seems like a nice guy, but he doesn’t have the tormented charisma of Jackson, the relaxed sex appeal of Usher or the quick pop reflexes of Mr. Timberlake.
The obstacle to Rain’s intended United States career is that by the time Mr. Park has figured out how to imitate the latest English-speaking hit, American pop will have jumped ahead of him. Perhaps collaborators like Diddy could help Mr. Park keep Rain up to date. But for the moment, here in the United States, Rain sounded like a nostalgia act.”
Ouch! … i was hoping that se7en would have learned from bi’s mistakes and bad reviews but i’m somewhat inclined to say that he hasn’t.
Also, didn’t popseoul also write a review for Min and G-soul performing at LQ … there was plenty of comments following her post and i don’t remember there being any backlash. why should this case be any different?
Honestly, It all sounds like total crap. If you can’t take the heat, get the hell out of the kitchen.
You can’t expect everyone to love him.
I find it halarious that Mr. Nelson Lee thinks he can actually change Popseoul’s opinion by bitching at them via comments and emails.
I totally agree with all the other posts above. If you can’t take criticism, how can you improve? Does Se7en and his crew expect every article written about him to be sugarcoated to perfection?
OH HOW MISLEAD, THEY WERE!
I doubt Se7en knew about this blog anyway, but yea, poorly handled by the promo guys, but obviously Se7en can’t micro-manage his career all the time. The promoters should’ve just plain out say that they’re offended/disappointed to get a bad review but they hope to do better next time. Shutting people out is no way to gain their respect and support.
It’s a tough call, Se7en needs some publicity in NYC, but he isn’t comfortable enough to hold an interview entirely in English. It’s difficult for entertainers to pick up a second language within a year so I can’t blame the guy for trying. I think he’s trying because he did greet in English, gotta start somewhere even if it’s a small step.
Well-written article! Se7en and his reps are obviously immature and not capable of taking criticism. They don’t seem very professional either. Major thumbs down for those dim-wits.
None of these “hallyu” stars are ready for Hollywood. They’re rushing the process because they want to be the first Korean actor/singer. These Korean “stars” still have weak English, lack of charisma, NO original style, and most of them can’t even sing or act (cough SE7EN cough).
Popseoul! Don’t let these idiots bring you all down.
I’m not a fan of Se7en, but I went back to read the review on his concert and I can understand from their side. That wasn’t really like a review more like a hater essay. Before you make statments about artists you have to keep in mind their connections with other management companies and artists if you want to be invited again. Don’t forget the Se7en fans in Korea…from what I read the anti-s are pretty scary.
Oh Popseoul! ^_^ Great response
I agree with Lanna, it sounds like we’re only getting a piece of the story. I commented before that though everyone’s entitled to their own opinions, I thought your views on the party were skewed because I was there and coudln’t really see how you could say it was a failure. This reporting sounds skewed again. You’re getting comments from Rainstone and Basenyc, NOT se7en or YG or his management and yet you are faulting Se7en and his management directly for not being able to “handle the heat”. Are we missing something here? Did YG or someone from Se7en’s management contact you? Or was it just the nyc party promoters who have really nothing to do with Se7en except promote their own parties every wknd?
Let’s put blame where it’s due and report the facts without bias- it sounds like you’re just mad because you’re being banned from a few clubs.
Se7en will just have to take the heat like popseoul said. Everyone has their own opinions. I rather have him back in Korea and do his thing. Its hard in general, for Asian stars to make it in the USA.
and it does look like he’s ate too many american food. ha!
If they can’t handle popseoul, how would they handle all those other AMERICAN celeb blogs who are equally if not HARSHER in what they have to say?
Steve, please tell Harry to tell Se7en that if he needs a crying pillow, my belly is waiting for his pretty pretty head to lay on.
Hwaiting!
*sigh* where’s the old Se7en? the charismatic, charming and just basically awesome Se7en?
and I agree with Lexi. some hallyu stars are completely rushing the process. It’s going to be so much more worth it if you spend an extra year or two brushing up on english, and actually make a good debut. and please, don’t only try to break into the “gansta” hiphop/rap market. and please, work with some different producers. If you make a good debut, you will be recognized and praised SO MUCH MORE, than if you make a crappy, well that’s too harsh, a mediocre debut.
I haven’t completely given up on Se7en though, there’s till hope, but I wish he would change his image. he looks so…americanized in that picture.
and onto our other debuting Korean star, Rain. I have higher hopes for Rain.
his movie comes out in under 2 months!! dude, like 1/2 of all ticket sales will be from people who are seeing the movie purely for Rain. haha
ook i never knew they actually reads blogs like this
but well said, just be careful of lawsuits lol
ESLs never hang out with cool kids anyways, they just stay fobbed up
Come on Se7en, promoters, and whoever else are involved. Man UP! America ain’t waiting on a korean singer and company to control what gets out and what can be said in the media. Study your english Se7en, lol, hang out some more with Brian or something. He went to Korea having learnt FLUENT KOREAN. Take notes, please.
well said popseoul especially no. 2!
looks like se7en needs to study some american history, particularly the first amendment of the constitution. maybe he isn’t used to it in korea, but he’d better get used to it if he wants to survive here.
why feel so threatened, se7en? because someone publicly wrote about ur insecurities? hey, popseoul just indirectly helped you by giving you constructive criticism.
this is america, not korea. in korea, ppl will praise and love you if you just stand on their stage. here, you failed to impress. you’re just gonna have to work harder if you want to raise some eyebrows. yeap, that means starting all over again. and yes, ppl can start from scratch in an unfamiliar country after major success in korea; boa and dbsk sure did.
Too much time wasted on the insignificant. All you had to do was copy and paste their comment and have one line: “haha”.
More updation please and less seven.
If last week’s White Day Party is the best you can do, please refrain from sending us invitations. We do not want to waste our time and money on events that lack substance and professionalism.
POPSEOUL!, you win at life.
I like your response.
Although I enjoy coming here for the latest news, I don’t blame people for hating your writing. You’re half the time bashing these fans’ idols unreasonably and exaggerating/twisting facts around. Like when you wrote about the Song Hye Gyo Nintendo DS commercial pressing on that small faces are better. C’mon now. I think that’s when I realized that some things you say are just ridiculous.
wow good going PopSeoul! apparently they care about what you think. cool.
in your first blog, i wanted to give Se7en the benefit of the doubt but i guess his balls are still growing.. lopsidedly. because responding like this, they are just showing that they are really really insecure about Se7en’s unlikely debut here.
well i am crossing him out of my list. ill just look out for JYP’s talents.
fighting PopSeoul sisters! ^^
truly entertaining
this is so much better than the small faces crap
just draw something on the photos and this will be the perezhilton.kr
@ Sera,
If you and those people can’t handle it, then don’t visit the blog. If you find it ridiculous, then stop reading. Nobody is forcing you to visit this site. Also, I think Popseoul has stated before that a lot of this is sarcasm, so take it easy. You can’t expect every blog out there to praise an idol. They need criticism to improve. Even if it’s ridiculous, this is pure entertainment, free speech.
I have always preferred Se7en over rain. And I can’t agree more with Popseoul on this situation. But I believe that there must been some misunderstandings. As the so-called promotors of ‘Se7en’ may not actually reflect the opinion of YG ent or SE7en himself. By stating, Se7en can’t handle the heat, it might be too overboard, and therefore will create a cycle of malicious attacks.
Even though I agree with Popseoul on the fact that Se7en did not have the courage or the ability to speak and demonstrate his english skills in front of the english-dominated audience, I still believe that the ‘party’ should not be named a ‘failure’.
Because Popseoul’s words may be on the harsh side, due to the opinionated nature of the website, there creates a misunderstanding of the promoters on Se7en’s side as they also have spent huge loads of time and effort in creating such publicity for an asian star. I believe that instead of clawing at each other’s hides, as it is benefiting neither sides, Popseoul should write a truthful review of the situation instead of skewing the actual reality.
i dont think its fair to blame seven.
i doubt he even reads this blog.
it seems like its the promoters and organizers of the events that are getting offended and putting up immature comments as “i’m not inviting you to my parties anymore.”
i dont think it has anything to do with seven….
u know what i defend POPSEOUL!…. i agree to her opinions and se7en is just stupid and can’t even handle criticism!!! yeah why doesn’t he take popseoul’s advice and man up!!! and one more advice for se7en… stop eating too much oily food before all the zits start to invade your forehead!!
People need to remember that this is a BLOG, not a credible news source, which means it’s based on personal opinion and bias. If you don’t like it, don’t read it.
@Popseoul: Keep doing what you’re doing! Seriously, people are always whining and complaining how “harsh” and mean you are; have they even seen other blogs, especially about celebrities? Go to perezhilton.com and get educated on the brutality of celeb gossip blogs… It’s freaking fabulous and should all be taken in good humor (but of course it’s still a form of publicity and celebs know and use this to promote their own agendas sometimes too).
I love a lot of people’s comments though; ‘well said’ to most of them!
I realize they want to be global — a “world star” as they keep saying.
But honestly, how can you expect to make it here if you won’t even hold an interview in English?
It seems like lately the fad is to jump into any foreign market you can get yours hands on. All I have to say is, if you’re gonna jump, know what you’re getting into.
Oh man, I hope that Nelson guy comes and reads this again. LOL
Wow, do your research, man. First of all, HE was the one who invited Popseoul! to the party — have you ever BEEN on Popseoul? They are plenty of sarcasm and criticism in previous posts. If he has the time to type up that ass-long comment, he should’ve had the time to visit Popseoul! before inviting them.
Wussies. Go Popseoul!
@pssh: I couldn’t agree more! artists need criticism to improve. It’s obvious a lot of korean stars don’t get a lot of criticism regarding their artistry. There’s more criticism regarding looks, basically. That’s why there is no growth in korean music. No growth at all. I don’t see it. Korean bubblegum pop isn’t criticized, it is being fueled by gazillions of fangirls and fanboys. Two whole different worlds, the west and the east…
@pssh on your statement
If you and those people can’t handle it, then don’t visit the blog.
free speech.
-Think about it.
nicely said ‘popseoul’…se7en needs to just quit his bitchin’
love se7en n all, but i gotta agree with you popseoul. if he plans on making a debut in the US.. he’s got to start somewhere, like..perhaps speaking english? lol instead of just showing his face
popseoul talking (dissing) se7en is better than no one talking at all. I think what popseoul said was some harsh criticism but se7en needs it. Honestly as a Se7en fan I appreciate what popseoul writes and I thought if anything it would give se7en and his management a swift kick in the ass cuz if you think popseoul is critical well you haven’t met the American Press!!!! In the end it’s only gonna benefit se7en and his opportunities here in the US!
ATTN TO SE7EN & HIS MANAGEMENT WHO MIGHT READ THIS BLOG: LISTEN TO POPSEOUL! Se7en needs to get out promote, schmooze, and speak english! Even if it’s broken as hell at this point it’s better than not saying nothing at all. He needs to accomadate his fans cuz without his base behind him he cannot take it to the next level!
ALSO I DON’T DIG THE MANLIER LOOK– Se7en’s Korean style was awesome sans the foofoo scarves!
wow. I agree w some of the previos posts. He is turnin black in both his manners of speech and style of music.
whoo go popseoul!! i love korean music, but honestly, i dont think this whole going to america thing is going to succeed for anybody… -_-
After reading the comments from the last post and to this one. PS gets a nuff respect from me. I am a big fan of Se7en, being from the UK i have never had the chance to see him live. However if he was to host a party here and the night ended up a big mess like last friday, id be pretty annoyed too, regardless of how much work was put in. You could work for 6 years on something but if the end product is sub par then thats all people are going to see, how can anyone possibly expect us to see all the effort that was put in if the end result was so shoddy and basically a waste of time-which is what i gathered from PS’s honest review. on another note, Lim! everytime i read your comments you crack me up with your honesty and truth. And that is what popseoul is about.
I understand that you guys have a right to say what you want but it is kind of harsh sometimes.
I come here to read the news to be updated but I wanna get both sides and not read biased articles. It’s like I only get half the story.
everyone is behind popseoul but how many people actually went to the event and agrees with popseoul? i read the site regularly and attend base parties and not a huge fan of se7en (so i’m not biased haha) i disagreed with everything that post said cause i actually went to the party. yeah it was a little disappointing he was on stage for 40 seconds then disappeared but i just danced to his songs and kept drinking haha. yeah he doesn’t know english but he’s not dropping an album tomorrow and the event wasn’t an album release party. it was a small preview of the songs he’s finished, he wasn’t promised to perform everyone really blew it out of proportion. he has limited english, it’d be wrong if he stayed on stage and spoke korean the whole time when there were a lot of non-koreans in the crowd. a lot of people probably weren’t disappointed like you were cause they weren’t expecting as much as you guys obviously were. it’s a club, most people were drunk, saw se7en on stage, heard good songs and kept drinking and dancing. i dunno i think there were way too many expectations and everyone was expecting him to talk to access hollywood and sing and dance on stage. it was just a preview, when it’s time to actual debut his album , he’ll learn more english or whatever you guys want out of him. (ps i don’t work for base or anything i just thought se7en got unnecessary bashing when it really wasn’t that bad and i know it’s ones opinions but this event was like blown way out of proportion, give him time he’s still working on his album! how can he be a bust already…) honestly i appreciate se7en alot more after the event cause he was nice to fans that were bothering him and his songs were fun. i guess base should learn that if he’s hosting the event he can be on stage longer but again way too much hype for a PARTY at a CLUB.
In the end, when it’s all said and done, when Se7en finally takes all the criticism, does something positive with it and grows as an artist, that’s when we all say: thank you Popseoul.
i usually take everything that popseoul writes with a grain of salt (most of its biased but its entertaining). its true that they are entitled to their opinion since this is their blog. but i have to agree with some of the people’s comments. from what i read in this article it seems that the promoters are more butt hurt then anything else. its most likely that se7en, YG and his PR have nothing to do with emails being sent to the popseoul girls. so in this case I think the popseoul girls are mad that someone told them off whether that person was right or wrong. so instead of making the promoters look like the dumba**es they are, they went on to attack se7en and his PR even though it is very unlikely they even know about the emails or this blog.
weaksauce!
honestly…i highly doubt that se7en will be big here in america…the way he’s acting seems childish to me
& also he’s just like any other artist out there in america
except for the fact that he’s asian.
If Se7en wants to make it big in America, he needs to man up, stop being an ESL student and perfect his english, and make some tracks that DO NOT sound so typical.
you know who ACTUALLY has a chance in America?
BIG BANG FTW<3
I doubt Se7en has anything to do with this, popseoul.
does not se7en’s promoters have better things to do than send spam and malicious emails to a blog? maybe they should spend all that free time in organizing a better party.
i don’t like that he’s trying to be black either. doesn’t he realize most americans who are into kpop like it because it’s unlike american music? we really don’t need anymore people making more bad american music, we have enough as it is.
personally, i don’t care if his english is bad, but he should at least try. When DBSK was in Thailand, they threw in Thai words during an interview; it sounded really bad, but at least they tried.
I used to really like se7en. He really should go back to what he’s good at.
Nice article, POPSEOUL! I actually enjoyed reading it all… @.@
-Cutie
popseoul makes it sound as though se7en REALLY READ that white day post but hello, if the allegations of his weak english is true, do you think he even understand the article?
people, there’s a difference between se7en ‘not being able to swallow criticism’ and HIS RECORDING LABEL ‘not being able to swallow criticism’. point here is that, i believe it’s all the doings of his promoters, not him.
whatever se7en. i am actually loving yer song passion, but after reading this… i was like. ( he can’t handle stuff like what is happening now ) > a total turn off for you.. yeeeeks.
Why doesn’t he speak in English?
I thought he was pretty fluent?
O_O
if se7en has so much time on his hands, why not try to master some basic english?
there’s a hint of truth in what popseoul says. it doesn’t come from thin air. yeah se7en, it would’ve been nice if you had said a little more. even if it’s poor english, give it a shot. it’s practice.
whoever it is, whether it’s se7en himself or his producers, be mentally prepared for more. criticism comes a lot in the beginning. you should’ve expected that already. what new artist has never received criticism before?
well put. good tips.
I cannot believe they care about what a stupid blog has to say.
good job.
Just to comment again that PS was referring indirectly to se7ens promoters with the above entry. I highly doubt Se7en has read the comments on popseoul. At the end of the day this is an news/opinion site, nothing more. So for the promoters to really take what PS to heart was dumb, as i dont think its going to stop people from going to their next event.
please la se7en.please.
get back to ur roots.
instant fame and top-chart hits are turning u to a monster!
u’ll make big bank URSELF (w/o stupid promoters) if u’d stay in ur homeland. very pitiful state of him.
now all the promoters or whoever gotta do is buy him economy-seat ticket to Korea for him to think over what he has become. a lesson learnt thereee~
WELL DONE POPSEOUL. i usually dont leave messages here, but OMG WELL DONE.
Its not like what you said isn’t true. I mean sometimes you guys are darn right RUDE… *BUT* there is always ATLEAST a ring of truth in what you guys say, and in this case: YOU GUYS WERE DARN RIGHT!
GO POPSEOUL!
As much as I love Popseoul, I kind of miss all the way-back old posts where even if there was harsh (and much-needed) criticism, there was also something nice to say. :[
That said, I kind of see it from both sides--it was unnecessary and immature of the event handlers to spam you with comments and emails, but all the same, Se7en doesn't seem to have anything to do with it, and it's a little unfair to peg this on him. Also, there really wasn't much to back up your previous post. I'm not saying you're wrong, but it would be nice to read about some examples :]
I’ve read other reviews of this event, and they all seem fairly positive. There was some criticism here and there, but most people seem to think that Se7en was nice for the time he spoke to the public–he was a HOST, keep in mind–there was no promise of a live performance, and I’d like to think that his name was mainly used as a draw to get lots of people to go to the party and hear a little bit of what’s to come. Additionally, judging by audio clips, his English isn’t the best, but he seems to be getting there, and most reactions to his new songs were positive, and so I’m rather confused as to what was so wrong about the event. Like I said, you could be right, but I’d like to know why, and it seems that some other readers would, as well.
I’ve skimmed through some of the comments on both of these posts, and it seems like these posts have become more incentive for argument among the readers than for actual good, useful information.
Anyway, that’s my two cents; sorry if I’ve offended anyone or anything. I REALLY like you guys, Popseoul, especially because it’s hard to find good information on what’s going on in Korean entertainment from the States. But sometimes, it would be nice if you provided your opinions with explanation behind them. ^^
It’s always nice to get both sides of the story or at least different opinions.. thanks to some of the previous posters! I’m sure Seven will give an awesome show when he actually debuts his album - I can’t wait to see some more of those dance moves haha
To Popseoul.
1. Obviously this is your first time invited to a song preview party. Been to lots of song preview party, it’s worse. I even didn’t get to see the artist even already waited till dawn. I once have to line up from 2nd fl to 1st fl just to meet the artist (even some celebrity have to do the same with me). So, it’s Se7en privillage to do or not a interview with the press. Also to held in english or not.
2. You should learn from Rolling Stone, Mick Jagger. Bad Publicity is STILL a publicity. Publicity stunt is also still a publicity (Britney). And your dissatisfaction cos you DIDN’T GET ANY PRIVILAGE from Se7en/management (Not just like the access you get from JYP) is also a publicity
3.4. It’s your loss now cow you will never get any first hand information. Congratulation! Now I know the quality of your site.
well said Franny!!
Anyway, At least we know that Popseoul actually went to the event right…? hehe I cant lie, sometimes I think that popseoul lies about going to these events, but because of that emails and whatever, seems like they avtually do go…either way, you cant really blame se7en, it’s his people whose emailing popseoul not him, I think if he read the comments he’s would just take it in as constructive criticism and try to probably like find a strategy to make people like him probably…IMO
ps…what does MIA stand for? I always see it but for some reason I cant figure out what it means
go popseoul!
@pshhh
All I said was that it’s understandable how people react to these posts. Why they still come to this site and bother to post is beyond me. Yeah, I think some things are exaggerated and ridiculous at this site but I come here for the news, not the opinion. I’ve learned to skip through the bull and get to the point. So don’t worry, I can handle it and I’ve been taking it easy. I’m not as bothered by it as you make it sound.
^
very silly points if you can even call them that.
what has se7en been doing all this time in the us? he should’ve used that white day party as an opportunity to showcase what he has to offer. if 40 seconds on stage is his idea of breaking into the american music industry, i say no thank you.
keep up the good work, popseoul. hopefully se7en will visit and learn something from you guys.
@ penguin_x3:
MIA = missing in action
I love Se7en, but he really needs to put himself out there if he wants to be recognized in the American music industry.
huh? oh boy…
“no publicity equals bad publicity.” exactly.
i swear, that Nelson guy honestly doesn’t know that even if se7en gets publicity for his event, AT LEAST he got some publicity at all. there will always be critics and it’ll be difficult to survive in any industry if you expect everyone to love you…it’s impossible. i kinda get what he means when he says we should be supporting the korean gasoo who are trying to cross over, but at the same time, if those gasoo don’t show us close to the same level/quality we’re used to seeing from them on the kpop scene, how can we fully support them?
there are times when i find your articles overly sarcastic, but who am i to tell you to stop writing the way you guys do? you have the right to say what you want to and if people don’t like it, then too bad for them.
well, my respect for the popseoul team has risen up the roof.
To be honest, I thought the blogs were kind of weak. Weak as in the humor incorporated with the pictures are mostly, if not all, sarcasm. Sacarsm is easy, sarcasm gets annoying, so I didn’t really think much of this blog site.
However, after reading the JYP interviews and your response to the email, you have proved that this blog does truly live up to its beliefs and opinions, which is hard when you are directly involved with the entertainer’s team or if unfortunate, lawyers. Very impressed by popseoul’s integrity. well done.
@ saewon
Thank you!! Ive been going crazy trying to decipher it
being responsive towards this comments means they admitted the mistakes…..what a disappointment to the PR company.. they should be open to criticism
That’s crazy. D;
“Se7en must be having a hard time swallowing POPSEOUL!’s review of his White Day party, for he unleashed his promoters to spam our comment section and to send us malicious emails.”
Uhhhh another false accusation. Again, Se7en has never heard of POP SEOUL. I clearly remember you asking Se7en that particular question in the green room (I am still puzzled on how you even gained access)
YJ KIM: “Do you know Pop Seoul?”
Se7en looking puzzled: “Sorry, no”
How has someone who’s never even heard of this website comment to the promoters?
I thought Nelson Lee’s response was eloquent and professional unlike this website. You want me to start quoting emails?
funny how you blocked your name from being published.
~*~*A round of applause for POPSEOUL! Well done you tell’em! Seriously they should have done their homework before giving out their invitations if they were going to B!@#% Loved your post! Love YA!
*~*~
HAHA no offense but the fact that they even posted on your website just makes you SO FAMOUS!~
dude.. what sissys seriously… who would have thought they would post on popseoul. i kind of agree, no offense but seriously se7en shouldn’t even be in the US…. like i love him and all but i liked him in korea… US is just not the place for him…. he’s not going to do well.. that’s just not my opinion, but all my friends opinions. HE’s a superstar and i support him 100% n all like i am great fan of se7en, but he’s just making his repuation look really bad by coming here.
Oh…when you put it that way…
MIA=Missing in Action, or so I’ve been told.
And to Se7en, I wish him the best of luck, despite the negativity flying around.
I don’t understand how much clearer I could’ve been with
A) NO INTERVIEW
B) PHOTO POSTED SHOULD BE OF SE7EN ON STEP & REPEAT
C) SE7EN IS HOSTING!!!! NOT PERFORMING!!!!
Why would you expect anything else if the details were crystal clear???? Enough with this slander YJ. Grow up.

Ugh… Never liked him, and never will.
Precisely, I’ll never like this guy.
bad/wrong first drama. >_<
Goong S ;P
Im sure Se7en’s promoters are upset and Se7en ended up hearing about your blog but i doubt he came up in here and cried not being able to take your comments popseoul.
Hes in the music industry and he can take more shi* than all the comments left here about him.
wait korean celebrity actually read this? nice. it’s saying something when an artist’s “people” care what you have to say about them. but then again in america, celebrity’s are notorious for reading tabloids featuring them. ppl can’t help but want to know what’s being said about them. either way, whatever, this too shall pass.
lol@popseoul xD
I’m glad that Harry posted the correspondence.
most the ppl should notice that Se7en =/= Base Promotions in the first place.
so them slamming him in the comments above is just ick on all this.
popseoul has the best deurama
LOL…popseoul sistas need to chill~
you guys have been caught slandering and i find that quite funny. what happened to the professionalism you guys talk so proudly about?
i find it sad that you guys would slam all this SH!T into se7en’s face just cause you were told off by promoters…and for something you shouldn’t have been doing too.
seems like you guys weren’t invited but put yourself on the guestlist. there’s a difference.
Lets form a group and picket his next event!!
its the best way to get popseoul some publicity!!!!
“No publicity is bad publicity,”
it will be written about in other blogs and picked up in the korean market.
POPSEOUL….take your sarcasm to the next level and wage this war.
picket the seven guys next event
Possible signage: “CAN YOU READ THIS, SEVEN?”
“SEVEN ACTS LIKE A LITTLE GIRL”
and pass out informative fliers that explain the negative emails you have received.
PICKET SEVEN!
DONT LET THEM PUSH YOU GIRLS AROUND.
Fight fire with fire.
DONT COWER IN A CORNER WITH THEM “BANISHING” YOU FROM THEIR LAME EVENTS.
Play the same game they are playing.
And generate publicity for yourself in the process.
What a way to get TARGETTED traffic.
Popseoul wants to be known so they try to get attention and they made it a success!
huh?
Sigh, it really is entertaining reading posts from Popseoul! However, there are times when it gets too much and I suppose many know how infamous Popseoul! is.
Doesn’t Popseoul! herself knows how famous and influential the words of hers and her posts are? What the korean music industry needs now is the positive attention from the media and also from the citizens, and therefore, shouldn’t Popseoul! do something to promote them? and yes, bashing is also one of the many ways to help promote the kpop industry but does it actually helps and gives positive contributions to the industry?
I myself believe in the freedom of speech too. Bashing and insulting are definitely not wrong, the point is that it should be done in a better or more correct way to help promote the kpop industry while giving useful and contributive statements in Popseoul!’s articles to help to bring up the popularity of Hallyuwood and also to make the celebs understand the negative points in themselves that should be changed.
It seems to me that people are having more and more negative thoughts towards the Hallyuwood celebs thanks to some very harsh and negative-sided articles.
It was much better back then, Popseoul! knew how to divide the negative points and positive points well and was good in delivering the ideas to the readers. Now, it was hard to define if any of the recent articles has any positive points.
I love Popseoul! and the articles. I hope my post will not arouse any misunderstandings and if it does, I’m sorry. T-T
Since Popseoul! allowed comments to be posted, you can consider this as a simple contributive comment or an opinion of a simple passerby.
If Nelson thinks this blog is harsh, he hasn’t seen the Perez Hilton site….My theory is since korea is such a smaller country, plus the conservative lifestyle and the different way of thinking, alot of the criticism is filtered to the Hallyu Stars, so although they do get the criticism it’s much of the rehashed watered down versions of the original.
can’t even stand criticism, how can he survive in america music industry?! esp.america medias love to make fun of artistes..
First of all: MAD PROPS TO POPSEOUL FOR SPEAKING THE MIND!!.
This is AMERICA ppl. You know AMERICA. Freedom land. Where we have the freedom of speech. So popseoul sistas can say WHATEVER they want on there blog. If you ppl have a problem with that then why bother reading & posting comments.
I love reading popseoul, even when they talk ish about my favorite celebs. I’ll still read it because it’s funny.
SECOND: It’s clear that Se7en’s promoters can’t handle a simple blog entry. I mean like other’s said “if they can’t even handle popseoul, then what makes them think they can handle America”. Popseoul is just a tiny dose of what’s in stores for Se7en when he FINALLY debuts in America.
You guys don’t honestly think that just because his some big star in Asia that he is automatically gonna do well here and that he deserves all of America’s respect. What a joke?!?! Seriously Se7en peeps. Ya’ll have been sniffing way too much crack.
Reality check, not everyone is gonna like you.
THIRD: My friend attended it & she said it wasn’t all that crackin’. Some of the songs that were played were iight but she expected to hear more of Se7en speak since it’s a party for him but she said she hardly saw him. He was mainly in the VIP section the whole time partying it up with peeps.
So I believe Popseoul when they say the party wasn’t all that.
Any who. Se7en’s promoters need to stop getting butt hurt over a simple blog. Learn to MAN UP! and take the blogs comments as a way to better promote your future clients.
ugh. my respect for popseoul has gone down.
i’m not a fan of se7en and i liked this blog before now.
popseoul <3
if se7en cant handle bad comments, then he wont last that much longer
It seems that Rainstone Live and BaseNYC EXPECTED to get positive reviews from Popseoul, considering that they were put into the press list and they (RL & BNYC) think that it was a successful event overall, which I think it was.
What is funny is that Rainstone Live and BaseNYC didn’t just let Popseoul’s entry pass. Their attitude should have been just “So what?!?!?!” Wrong way to tackle this issue. So in this round, RL & BNYC are the losers. Can’t believe you guys could not handle Popseoul.
FORGET RAInSTONE. THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO MAKE MONEY.
THATS THE BOTTOM LINE PEOPLE.
SEVEN IS TRYING TO MAKE AS MUCH MONEY
RAINSTONE .
BASENYC.
EVERYONE.
The sooner we kick them down, the sooner YOU will be making money too.
Stop IDOLIZING.
and START speaking up for what truly matters.
Ask yourself these questions:
WHY are the promoters so fearful of any negative criticism?
because it pinches their WALLETS!!!!!!!
WHY are the promoters so angry to POPSEOUL! ???
because it pinches their WALLETS!!!!!!!!
WHY are the promoters banning POPSEOUL! from their lame-ass events in the future??????
BECAUSE IT PINCHES THEIR WALLETS!!!!!!!!!
THATS THE BOTTOM LINE.
YOU ALL NEEED TO UNDERSTAND THIS.
THEREFORE. POPSEOUL! IS COMPLETELY IN THE RIGHT.
STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU SPEAK FOR.
PROTEST AND SPEAK UP.
ACTIVISM HAS CARVED MANY HISTORIES AND GENERATIONS PRIOR TO US. DONT LET IT DIE IN THE PRESENT!!!!!
Awesome!! PopSeoul (and by extension — *us*) is wrapped up in a celeb scandal…I love it!!
Popseoul,
I am still waiting for your response to Harry Kim’s ‘fight back’. Anytime soon?
Gee…It’s just a blog…why the promoters became really angry???? Popseoul only shout out what they should say. Are they threatend or what???
Love read your blog anyway.
I hope Se7en READ this blog also. So he can open his EYES!! I’m not trying to fall upon him, but he and the promoters should learn how to make a good promotion.
He even didn’t speak English??? ckckckck….disappointed…
